Lovely hotel, nice staff. Great breakfasts

If you want a hotel with a great pool and the only beach access on the beach side of the main road through this sleepy Tuscan town, this is the place for you. Large rooms with a cleaning staff that makes the rooms liveable through their spotless work is a plus, as is its location, both beachside and paces from the town center and 75% of Tirrenia's restaurants. But […] it is precisely its location that has caused this place to lapse and, in my opinion, not worthy of its 4 star claim. The staff is cordial at best, haughty at times, and downright a joke at the beach (confrontational is putting it mildly). This hotel has a unique location, a consistent clientelle that includes the airline crews flying in and out of Pisa (only a 15 minute drive to the historic center), and convenience, convenience, convenience. The rooms are in serious need of renovations, the air-conditioning is bearable only on high setting (good luck if the temp rises above 90dF, the staff never eager to assist (except late night), and the beach staff lazy and prone to off hours bouts of intolerable behavior on hotel property. Before anyone jumps to "ugly American" syndrome conclusions about the review, please know that I speak Italian fluently, used to live in this town many years ago, and stayed at this hotel as part of a 2+ week vacation with my family. My reviews of all the other hotels during our vacation run the full range of pleasant and were all acceptable/recommendable. The beach is still wonderful here, as is the food, location, and closeness to Pisa (best town in all of Italy). But the hotel and its staff, probably due to its unique position in Tirrenia, leave much to be desired. Read more

We were there in April so the water was too cold and the pool was not open. But we were able to walk along the beach and enjoy the scenery. You see sailboats and kayaks. People walking and playing in the sand. The sun was out and we had beautiful days. The hotel is located in Terrenia which is a 15 minute drive to Pisa. The hotel entrance is just the […] parking lot distance away from the bus stop to take you to the train station in Pisa. That takes closer to 30 minutes. Be sure to validate your ticket on the bus in the little machine. They have a wonderful breakfast buffet. Cold cuts, croissants, breakfast sweet breads, scrambled & hard boiled eggs, bacon, cereals, a juice machine, coffee machine with many different flavors. Dinner was great but do remember that many dishes have seafood in them b/c they are close to the water. If you are allergic or don't like seafood they had a beef and chicken course. They don't serve wine by the glass; only the bottle. If you ask for a recommendation for a restaurant in the area they will gladly recommend some places for you at the front desk. And there are some little shops out front in their little square plus they have some vendors that sit out with their little white tents selling souvenirs, homemade goods, focaccia, pretzels, and cheeses. We did not feel the hotel was a four star hotel. While the interior was acceptable the exterior was in poor shape. It gave a poor first impression that was hard to overcome later. We were further dissapointed by the fact that the 50m swimming pool was empty of water in late April.

Lovely hotel in a lovely location, 20 mins by cab (30 euros) from Pisa airport. Regular buses to Pisa for sightseeing which takes about 30 mins and costs 4.20 euros p/person return. Hotel is spotless and staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great, lots to choose from including some hot food, lots of fruit and the buffet is constantly […] replenished, so nothing ever runs out! Dinner in the restaurant also recommended and there are also a few local restaurants serving good Italian fare. Right on the beach with free chairs/umbrellas allocated to the hotel and a huge pool at the hotel with sunbeds etc. Definitely recommended for a relaxing getaway! Read more

The hotel was fine, decor is a bit outdated but rooms kept very clean. Some of the staff could have been more helpful. The pool is fantastic although it's a pity you can't bring food or drinks to the poolside. Overall I would say this is more like a 3 star than a 4 star hotel.

The room was quite big, great for family. The hotel is not new, but clean, and cosy. There were parkings on a road, which is free on Sundays, so we just parked on the road. The locations was great as we could walk to the town center in 15 mins. Breakfast is so so, but sufficient.

Overall the hotel was good. The bedroom was comfortable but the shower was tiny. I am only small and couldn't turn in it so it was very difficult for my husband. However our 5 night stay was almost ruined by the attitude and rudeness of the man on the bar. We ordered 2 coffees on our first day which were dreadful. Cold and half empty. His attitude when […] I asked if he could top mine up was appalling. He was very rude and threatening. My husband reported the incident at reception but nothing was done about it. Tyvärr motsvarade inte hotellet våra förväntningar på ett 4- stjärnigt hotell vad det gäller standarden och underhållet. Helt ok, men inte mer. Trist byggnad både in och utvändigt. Inget mysigt. Bilden på hotellet ( utvändigt) fick oss att tro att det hade lite stil och klass. Heltäckningsmattor i rummen samt i korridorer. Aircondition såg ofräsch ut […] i vårt rum vid denna tidpunkt, ville ej använda. Förövrigt inget att klaga på vad det gäller städningen. Inga påslakan, bara filt och lakan. Det kändes ohygieniskt och omodernt. Orten saknade charm, många hus/hotell /restauranger hade "lådkänsla" typ 60-talshus. Läget var väldigt bra till stranden, butiker. restauranger. Fanns en stor pool, men var ej i bruk slutet av april. Om vi hade haft fint väder skulle nog betyget bli något lite bättre av vistelsen, förmodligen bortsett mer från det dåliga. Nu blev det mer en melankolisk känsla, och en nitlott efter en förövrigt fantastisk resa genom Toscana. Synd att det blev en slutdestination och sista minnet. Frukosten ok. Read more

Hotellet var bra, men sängarna hårda. En dyr restaurang på taket kan vara värt ett besök om man vill ha mer romantik än kulinarisk mat. Man kan också ta en drink på terrassen, dom är ju alltid goda.

Magnificent location and view to the beach and sunset. Very nice breakfast, which could be enjoyed from the outdoor terrace, even on October 1st. Overall, a very good hotel with very nice rooms. it takes a bit down that the food at the restaurant buffet was cold and dry. It also takes a bit down that in such a big swimmingpool, one is not even allowed […] to play with balls (also, you have to wear a cap, but are no obliged to wash before entering the water ???!!!) Wir hatten das Hotel bewußt gewählt, da wir vor langer Zeit schon einmal dort waren. Es liegt direkt am Strand, hat einen stets gepflegten 50m langen Pool, eine Tiefgarage, große Zimmer und in nächster Umgebung einige Restaurants und Pizzerias. Olimme kolme yötä Gran Hotel Continentalissa lomalle lopuksi. Meillä oli kaksi eri huonetta (4 hengen huone ja 2 hengen huone). Molemmat olivat siistejä ja varustelultaan ok. Hotellille oli erinomainen 50m uima-allas ja siistit rantatilat. Aamiainen oli hyvä, muttei missään tapauksessa erinomainen. Hotellin ympärillä on paljon laadukkaitakin ravintoloita. Ska du bo i Pisa med omnejd är det här bästa valet. nära fin strand som är bra för barnen. Pisa stad är inte så festlig räcker med några timmar där och bo hellre ute vid kusten. Lite dyrare hotell men det är det värt.

Hotellet er fint med god frokost, bra treningssenter og stort basseng. Rommet var ikke spesielt luksuriøst og air conditionen bråkte litt, men rommet så mye bedre ut enn det gjør på bildene og det var rent og pent. Hotel ist super für ferien mit Kleinkind! Strand in der Nähe und einfache Pizzerien! Ausserdem ein grosses schwimmbad für Mama und Papa -geeignet für sportliches Schwimmen. Frühstück ist einfach mit Selbstbedienung, ebenfalls gut mit Kind! Strand ist super sauber und es gibt auch einen Spielplatz im Sand! Durant les 10 jours passés au Grand Hotel Continental, nous avons apprécié l'accueil du personnel de réception et du resto. Notre séjour a été très agréable pouvant à notre guise aller à la mer (à deux pas) ou utiliser la piscine de l'Hôtel très bien entretenue. A midi, le lunch proposé au bar côté piscine est tout à fait correct. Au resto, la carte […] est diversifiée et le personnel très professionnel. Nous étions super bien dans le magnifique jardin et la chambre climatisée était agréablement bien entetenue. Une déconvenue pourtant : pour garer notre voiture dans le garage, il nous a fallu débourser 14 euros par jour. Ce détail serait à mentionner dans l'offre et y être inclus dans le prix global! Grand Hotel Continental er et flott sted. Kanskje litt "charterpreg", men lange rader med parasoller på stranda og rundt bassenget. MEN; Jeg fikk ikke charterfeber-følelsen overhodet. Fordi dette er et sted det tilsynelatende er mye italienere som ferierer, så slipper du å høre oah hele natten på pubene. Faktisk er det mange koselige restauranter i […] området rundt - og på de aller fleste stedene snakker folk bra engelsk. Hotellet inkludert. Servicen på hotellet er bra, og det var deilig å bare ha 30 meter å gå til den flotte stranda. Ellers er Tirrenia (som den lille byen heter) veldig praktisk å ha som utgangspunkt, da det bare er rundt en mil til Pisa og til Livorno. Å leie bil, eller å sette seg på toget derfra, gjør det veldig lett å utforske Toscana. (to uker på dette stedet er kanskje litt mye, vi var der i èn, og det var passe med tanke på at det er en veldig liten by) Et rolig og stille område, ingen sjenerende støy fra puber og barer. Kun litt karaoke i en isbar på andre siden av gata :) Vi var der i fem dager, og stedet anbegales, både for voksne og til barnefamilier. Read more
