"Walking Distance to Old City"
Mt Zion Hotel is within walking distance to the Old City, parks and excellent restaurants on Emek Refiem. The view of the Old City at sunset is breathtaking. It makes you understand the meaning of Jerusalem the City of Gold.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Convenient location -- about a 10 - 15 minute walk to Jaffa Gate. Nice spa with Turkish bath to relax after a long day of sightseeing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good bargain"
Hotel was better than I expected. Front desk staff very helpful at all times. Always at least 3 clerks behind the desk, so no wait to get any question answered or have a taxi called. Location of hotel was excellent, a 10 minute walk to the Jaffa Gate of the Old City. Drug store conveniently 5 minute walk away and a good restaurant and movie theater […] within a 3 minute walk. Breakfast was good, with waffle and omelette station. Juices were too watery and there was no skim milk offered. Dining room staff very attentive. Bathroom was large, modern with excellent shower with strong water spray. Room itself better than average. I really have nothing negative to say about it. I found it a very good value. "Mt. Zion Hotel review"
This hotel is located within walking distance of the Old City. The walk is great exercise down the hill and then up the hill to the Old City. We were within a 15 minute walk to the Western Wall. The views from several vantage points of the hotel are outstanding. The staff was very accomodating and provided nearly anything we asked. The breakfast buffet […] was very good and consistent every morning with a European feel to it with many fresh fruits and unusual choices for Americans. There are many good restaurants within a short distance of the hotel. The German Colony has several good reasonably priced and casual restaurants and of course being within walking distance of the Old City for dining is also a plus. Our room was comfortable not spectacular but we did not plan on spending much time in our room and with all the things to do and see in Israel it was a good call. The work out facilities are OK but the steam room was great. Pool and spa are good. Parking for our rental car was free across the street from the hotel. Occasionally the lot would get pretty full. We spent six nights at the hotel and plan to stay there again when we go back to Israel as six days and nights doesn't give you enough time to see all there is to see in Israel. We can't wait to come back to the Mt. Zion Hotel! My wife and I are in good shape and enjoyed the walk up to the Old City but for some who don't like to walk they may not enjoy the hotel as much as we did. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Outstanding Staff make the difference"
In Jerusalem for business, I found the location very central and the staff outstanding. Nice spa and jacuzzi with an outdoor view is a highlight. Didn't stay long enough to get the full flavor of the hotel. Rooms could do with some updating.Genuine Expedia guest review
Stayed here for 3 nights in November. Very pleasant visit. No problems. Excellent breakfast. I ate at the Lobby Bar in the evening. Food was great and the view across the Hinnom Valley to Mt Zion is superb. Hotel has a nice pool, jacuzzi and sauna free to guests.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not well known but one of the best in Jerusalem"
Perfect stay few minutes away walking from the Old City and less than 5 minutes walking from the Old Train Station (with restaurants and coffee perfect for a breakfast/lunch). Beautiful view of the Judea valley and the Old City (ask for a room with a view). Good size swimming pool and big Turkish bath (+Spa if you need). Staff were courteous and helpful. Front desk helped me plan my path for walking and site seeing, electric plug in adapter, changed dollars to shekels at no extra charge, got me taxi when I needed it, convenient location to walk to the most important sites, made sure I did not miss my tour guide for pick up from the hotel. "Didn't stay long!"
After checking in I found my room to be very dusty. The whole Hotel seems very tired and in need of modernisation. After finding a cockroach in my bathroom, I decided that it wasn't the hotel for me!Genuine Expedia guest review

Other than a small issue with the number of towels in the room which was resolved by staff - a great hotel within easy walking distance to the Old City.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not worth the money."
Rooms have paper thin walls. 2 minutes after entering the first room we were given , we heard the phone ringing and a conversation in the next room. Something I would expect from a 20$ guest house, not a hotel. They gave us a room with no neighbours and it was OK. They don't really clean the rooms, just change towels and make the bed. There was an ear […] cotton swab(used) on the floor of the hallway during all of our stay. The reception staff was very helpful and pleasant. The location is very good. A pleasant hotel with an interesting history, attentive staff and a great view from the attractive gardens across the valley to the Old City walls. However, the room's fixtures and fittings were a bit tired - including the wobbly main door lock - and didn't merit the advertised number of stars. Breakfast at $US28 per person was rather expensive. The […] busy road out front is not a noise problem when you're in the hotel as most of the building is below the level of the road - reception is on the top floor - and facing the other way down a steep slope. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We got an upgrade of our room with balcony and an breathtaking view of the old city of Jerusalem. Our room was quiet, clean and the service was great and prompt, when we had a need. The old city is in walking distance. Sadly we stayed only one night. There is a 24/7 Prayer and worship room adjust to the Hotel. […] We loved to go there, sit there for a while during worship in the evening. It was all in all a great experience and we will recommend this great Hotel to others. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Gorgeous old hotel with all the modern facilities"
Simply said, I would not stay in any other hotel in Jerusalem! Beautiful old hotel, great views, a wonderful spa and hammam Great massage therapists (ouch!!!) "Pleasant but unpredictable"
A comfortable hotel with reasonable facilities not too far from the city centre. Decor is pretty and the poolside area well organised - and the breakfasts are sensational! Just a bit spoilt by the feeling that the hotel is seeking to squeeze money from every opportunity, e.g. 1) wifi charges are per device, NOT per room 2) hotel shabbat meal 255 NIS […] per person! 3) hard to enforce hotel promise to refund VAT on food charged to room Rooms are comfy but inexplicably you may get your towels confiscated or tea/coffee facilities not replenished which is quite frustrating. "Lovely hotel - exceeded expectations"
My fiance and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights for a holiday in Jerusalem. We had been put off other big hotels in the city as they looked impersonal and were attracted to Mount Zion as it looked a bit more interesting and had a pool and spa. The hotel exceeded our expectations in so many ways! It is a beautiful Jerusalem stone building and, in spite […] of what other reviews say, we did not feel that the decor was dated or run down - the room decor was comparable with most city hotels in Europe. Our room was clean and the air con was perfect and we had a spacious fridge in our room. Our room faced the courtyard which was fine as we could appreciate the amazing view from the lobby and breakfast terrace. We made good use of the pool (really big and never too busy), the spa (excellent massages) and outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the old city. There was a huge range of local choices for breakfast including shakshuka and kugel. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk from Jaffa Gate which was fine for us but some may struggle with the walk in the heat. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Even at a great hotel you can have a moan"
In general very happy with the hotel, excellent location and atmosphere. The only disappointment we had was that we could not get a snack from the bar in the reception at 9.50pm when the publicised opening time runs to 10pm Also we asked to have a delayed check out from our room but the reception staff were not that helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good Hotel on the hill"
Nice hotel with good view of Jerusalem. However, this is for the stronger walkers to the old city. You have to walk downwards, then climb up to Jaffa gate, or to Zion gate. Food is pricy, but there is a grocery about 300 meters north west. Great hotel experience, but I have to move up closer to the old city...Genuine Expedia guest review

"close to all must see sights"
I was disappointed with my stay at the hotel. The hotel staff where not at all friendly and when asked a specific question would answer with "over there" or "that way" and the room itself for the money in which I paid was not at all of the standard that I would have expected. The food though was very good and well presented.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for exploring the Old City."
This hotel is close to the walled city of Jerusalem and has a history that makes it more interesting. The hotel was originally a hospital and was critical to getting supplies into the old city during the 1920's blockade. We walked from the hotel to the old city everyday during our stay. Now, it's a luxury hotel with many features and comforts. The staff […] was most friendly and welcoming and the towels! The towels are thick and huge - makes a shower feel wonderful! The beds are comfortable and clean. We stayed for six nights in November 2012. Because of the season, the heating was on and air conditioning was not available. We found the rooms too hot, but the staff quickly found a floor fan for us to use. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Disappointing and unkept."
We paid for an upgrading room, and paid quite a lot more for this, however, very disappointed with the room that we received. Although this had a balcony which was a bonus, it was a very basic room and not very large. The room was not deluxe which we were expecting and certainly not worth the extra money that was paid. The room was not very clean and […] furniture needed updating. The breakfast was excellent and far exceeded my expectations. Having walked to the other side of the hotel to the right of the entrance door, the foyer and communal areas were far superior to the left hand side of the hotel, were our side was drab and by the service lift, with an old painted piano stuck at the top of the stairs. The staff were helpful and the bar snacks very good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect spot for the Old City"
Perched on a picturesque hill close to the Jaffa Gate (10 mins walk), the Mount Zion hotel is in a gorgeous location. Rooms are fairly spacious, reasonably up-to-date, though bath fairly small. Breakfast was not the most extensive (compared to other Israeli breakfasts), but really no complaints - and excellent breads, homemade marmalade, lovely cheeses […] and eggs made to order. Staff at the front desk were helpful and well-informed and made our stay just that little bit smoother as well. No hesitation to recommend. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice location, nice shared area; Grandma's house!"
The location and architecture of this hotel is really lovely. All the shared area's of the hotel are wonderful. The flowers around the pool area are beautiful. The rooms are very dated however, this may be a style choice; we commonly referred to it as 'Grandma`s house'. The double bed was two twin's as opposed to be a double, an occasional leg was lost […] down the gap as can happen, for this reason alone I gave 3 points for comfort but my girlfriend was very happy with her bed. I did not find the staff particularly friendly, I would have liked some information on the area, which I asked for and was given but there was no understanding of the needs of new visitors, as an example I would have liked them to mention where the nice hotels where, how to get through the old town and what time you need to get up to join the queue for the temple mount #very early BTW#, none was offered and from an expensive hotel it’s not unreasonable to expect this. Also internet was not included and the business centre was not working so we could not check our flights without paying for a whole day. Tellingly I did not feel comfortable asking the front desk staff if they could check for us. For this reason a +4 rating does not seem justifiable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ideal for old and new city"
This hotel is a hidden gem facing the old city. It combines old charming buildings with new (so rooms vary) in beautiful gardens with a stunning view (They moved us to get us a bette view). It isn’t one of those international chains so has a special Jerusalem feel that make staying part of the travelling experience. Slightly off the main roads but not […] too far from shops and restaurants and quieter as a result. It’s not the cheapest place but well worth the extra you have the budget. "Attractive hotel with interesting history"
We found the overall design and furnishing of the hotel very interesting, and its history (make sure to see the museum with the cable car). On our first night we found dirty pillowcases in the room, which we had to ask to be replaced. Cleanliness in the bathroom was not great - no-one ever seemed to clean behind the basin, where bits of rubbish were […] lying. The grounds were spacious; some of the sunbeds had seen better days, and were partially broken and did not adjust properly. The hotel is close to the German Colony, with many restaurants. We walked to the Jaffa Gate a few times, but feel it is easier to take a taxi, as rather tiring walking uphill in the heat. Overall we liked the ambience of the hotel, and would stay there again. "ok hotel, but nothing specatular"
unfortunately the spa was closed for the whole period of our stay. No compensation or nice gesture was given to us. The pool was too cold to be used. The hotel is well located, but in need for some renovation. Cleanliness isn't the best, but they will clean again if you complain (which shouldn't have to be the case). Bar is minimal and restaurant closes […] early. Also some personnel at the front desk had problems understanding english. Rooms are however very quiet and the view from the lobby is very nice.
Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
