"Good place to make your base for a few days..."Reviewed by Daniel W. of "Tampa, FL" on Apr 7, 2012
I only stayed here one night, but this would be a great place to bring a family, and stay for several days. The 2-bedroom condo was clean and comfortable, loved the gas fireplace, comfortable bed, and the kitchen was handy. Access to the units is a little inconvenient -- lots of steps to go up and down, especially if you're on the back side. But the location is great, just outside Banff, and just a 3 minute drive to Canmore.
"Comfortable and convenient"Reviewed by Ellen K of "British Columbia" on Mar 21, 2012
The room was spacious and comfortable with a sitting space in addition to the bed. The hotel is within easy walking distance of shopping, restaurants, etc. Only complaints: 1) Early wake up call not received as requested for first morning (good thing I was up already) 2) Very noisy kids running in the hallway the first night 3) Radio came on early on second morning (I did not set it) I would stay here again.

t think for the price I don't think you can beat the place. Yes its a bit dated etc and parking could be tight (especially if those people with big trucks who can't park!!). If you want a cheap hotel its for you, if not, then pay more and go elseware.
"Radisson Hotel, Canmore, AB."Reviewed by Randy M of "Red Deer, AB." on Feb 23, 2012
Our stay was very pleasant an comfortable, and all of the staff were amazing. We had the best time in the bar with our sever who we made cry as she was laughing soo hard!! The menue was exquisite and our server, Julia, treated us like royalty! Our favourite dessert was some frozen cheese cake balls, twice!!! "To die for" is all I can say about that. I would highly recommend staying there as you are only minutes from Banff.

"Fabulous Winter Getaway"
My partner and I just returned from a 2 night stay at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff. We went to do some snowboarding and snowshoeing and we're not disappointed! We stayed in a Premier Queen room and it was absolutely lovely. Clean, quiet, cozy and warm. There was dry wood for us to use for our fire, ample towels, robes and toiletries. The […] views are to die for!! We also took advantage of the outdoor hot tub which was lovely. Our only complaint - there was a lot of static, so we got mini shocks often! Nothing major, just a minor nuisance. We would definitely recommend this hotel....and would stay again in a heartbeat. We even saw deer/elk on one of the afternoons!!! Read more

"Buffalo Mtn Lodge"
Room was small and faced the road - there was alot of traffic noise and alot of partying going on nearby. It was pretty loud even with windows closed. Rooms looked like they needed some updating and beds were hard Great helpful staff and wonderful lobby atmosphere.
"Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff"
Very nice grounds. Cozy room with small walk out porch. 5 minutes to down town area. Quite area - fairy expensive for amenities.
"lodge"
I was happy with my 5 day stay here. Comfortable rustic look. Perhaps a little bit pricey especially with no AC or a ceiling fan
"Very Disappointing"
Perhaps my expectations were too high but I wasn't at all satisfied with this Lodge. Our suite had windows, which hadn't been cleaned in quite some time, facing a busy street and a noisy parking lot. Since it was summer and there is no air conditioning (not that it was needed), it was very noisy. Lodge itself is small and there was no place to hang […] except the small dining room or bar, i was expecting a beautiful lobby. Fitness room is a joke. There are much nicer places to stay in beautiful Banff. Read more
"Nice, but not nice enough for the price."
The Buffalo Mountain Lodge is a lovely place to stay. The ground are nice and the service is excellent. However, for the price, I'd rather stay downtown in Banff. The room we had was nice, but VERY small. We had to move the furniture around just to open the TV cabinet. I constantly ran into something trying to walk through the room, dodging chairs, […] suitcases and tables. There is no place to unpack other than your bed. You can "store" your suitcase by the door, but there is nowhere to put it to open it and unpack. We chose the floor at the foot of our beds. The bathroom is lovely and large, but there was no stopper in the sink so if you drop anything in the sink (like I did) it's gone. The restaurant prices are high so we spent our time down the mountain in town. There are plenty of nice places in Downtwon Banff to stay for about 1/2 the price. If you've got plenty of cash and don't plan on usingyour room much, this is the place for you! Read more

"Buffalo Mountain Lodge Banff"
This lodge has very well maintained rooms. Ours had a wood-burning fireplace, nice porch, large bathroom with heated tile floor! Restaurant served good food, bar area was small but cozy. Location was a bit further from town center than we expected, but in return it was a quiet area separated from the action of downtown Banff. The buildings are newer […] construction but they tried to build in as much charm as possible. Recommended. Read more
"Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff"
This is a nice lodge with a decent location and friendly staff, but all-in-all the amenities didn't live up to the level expected at this price range. We had issues with the radiant heat (which should be a great feature) not working and this problem not being addressed when reported to the staff. On our third and final day it finally started working. The […] lack of refrigerators in these rooms was a real deficiency for a place that's designed for you to spend some time in the room. The real fireplaces are a great feature, but it's almost impossible to get a fire going well (especially when the heat in the room is not working) without setting off the smoke detector for a little while. "Wonderful place to stay in Banff"
This is a perfect location if you want to be in Banff. It is far enough away from town to not feel like you are there, but close enough to it if you want to be there. We had a suite with one bedroom (king size bed) and a living room/kitchen. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, glassware and utensils. The living room did not have a tv, but did […] have a woodburning fireplace with wood available. The tv was in the bedroom. The views from the room were very nice. The restaurant was excellent. I had the caribou medallions which were wonderful. Read more

"A wonderful hotel in Banff"
We were so pleased with our choice to stay at the Buffalo mountain lodge. It is a little more secluded than most of the hotels along Banff avenue which was a bonus. After checking in we looked out our window to find a deer. The accomodations were great, and the staff very friendly and helpful.

"Exceeded my Expectations"
My husband and I stayed here as part of a cross country trip, but also to celebrate our one year anniversary. The hotel far exceeded our expectations. As we arrived to check in, we found out that our room had been upgraded to a premier room. Although I don't know the reasons why, I was very excited and very pleased. Our first impression of the room […] was WOW! Everything was perfect...wood-burning fireplace (with free firewood), claw foot tub, heated floors, bathrobes, etc. My only disappointment is that we were only able to stay one night. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the Banff Area. Only thing to note is that the hotel is not downtown...great if you enjoy peace and quiet. The shops are in walking distance if you don't mind a short stroll along the roadway. Read more
"Great Location...Great Hotel"
This hotel met all my expectations and more. It is located a bit outside of of Banff which makes it very quiet and peaceful with views and trails very close. The room had a balcony, fireplace and huge bathroom...very romantic. The staff was extremely accommodating, courteous and friendly. We had dinner at the hotel's main dinning room on our wedding […] night. It was a bit pricey (everything is expensive in Banff though) but the food was exquisite and the service impeccable. I would recommend this lodge to anyone. Read more
"It was okay, but..."
The front desk staff seemed a little under par when asking for help other than a straight check in or check out. We had the manager help us each time, who was very friendly. The rooms do not have air conditioning, but with the windows open, it was a nice place. The pillows were great, but the bed needs some updating (lump in the middle). The view was […] ok, but nothing spectacular. The Cilantro restuarant was very cozy and had great food. Free parking is definitely a plus. Hot tub is beautiful as pictured through this site. A bit pricy for what you get in comparison to other places available. Read more
"comfortable banff stay"
This was a very nice place. The room was large and the bathroom was awesome with a claw foot tub and heated slate floor. We had a balcony facing the mountains and a fireplace with ample wood. The beds were comfortable and there were two comfortable chairs to read and face the fire. It was a bit of a walk to the town, but that just added to the ambience […] keeping it a bit isolated Read more

"Nice Place to Stay"
Buffalo Mountain Lodge was a nice place to stay. They had logs and matches beside the fireplace ready for our use. We requested a second floor, but they placed us on the first floor and it was very noisy. We could hear every step above us. They moved us to the second floor the next day - much better. The Lodge was close to town - 5 minute drive, but […] we felt like we were in the country, because of the surrounding woods. They also have free internet access, a small fitness room and one hot tub. Their restaurant was nice with it's big windows and high ceiling located in the main lodge. Their buffet was too expensive, considering I don't eat enough to offset the cost. They did have a nice breakfast selection. The staff were very helpful and accomodating. Read more

Reserved three rooms, they were in the older part of the resort, there is no air conditioning and all rooms needed cleaning. Very disappointed.

"Mountain Retreat!"
We were looking for a quiet rustic place to have a girls weekend getaway....this was the perfect ace! We upgraded to a deluxe suit as they had some available. A quick 8 min drive to downtown and we were surrounded by the beautiful countryside!! Lots of wildlife wandering around, walking paths, the hoodoos were within walking distance too!

"Wonderful Stay"
Nestled in the mountains, we booked a premier queen room as there were no kings. The room looked just like the pictures, it was perfect. What we most loved though was the wood burning fireplace, it was lovely. It was a very relaxing stay. The only downside was that we missed having a view out our windows but we will return.

"winter weekend getaway"
We stayed for a birthday weekend and enjoyed the hotel. Thw outdoor hottub is large and was a wonderful way to wind down at the end of the day! Had the breakfast buffet and it was amazing, everything was top quality with a selection of french toast, pancakes, breakfast sausages, elk sausages, bacon, eggs benedict, mountains of fresh fruit and pastries […] to choose from! Would stay again! Read more
"Great Romantic Place"
Friendly staff and offered to upgrade our room. Very Clean, romantic fireplace, nice comfortable bed, I left my swimsuit and was found and mailed to me. Otherwise, it was a great place to stay and will definitely comeback and recommend […] to friends. Read more

"Free Upgrade"
We booked a regular Lodge Queen room, got a great rate through Hotels.com and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the hotel to find we had been upgraded to the Premium Queen room. "Buffalo Mountain Lodge"
Beautiful location, away from the busy streets of Banff. The room was cozy mainly due to the wood fireplace and dim lighting (lighting could be considered a negative). The pillows on the bed were poor quality and left us with sore necks the following morning. The sound proofing of the hotel was disappointing for the cost per night; we could hear our […] neighbours loud and clear during the night and early morning. The cable provided was basic and you can not rent movies; the TV was a tube tv not a flat screen. Overall, the hotel was good, but we would consider other hotels for the price. The location and fireplace were the main reasons for booking. Read more

"Average"
We went for a christmas getaway, mid-week; so it was quiet and secluded. We had a king bed and an amazing view of mount Rundle. The bed was comfy and the bath tub was huge! However, the bath tub leaked and the carpet was ripped in places. It was an okay experience, but will most likely not return.
"Buffalo Mountain Lodge for romance"
The hotel is tucked away from downtown, so it's quiet, surrounded by trees, and is only a few dollars to get downtown if you want to take advantage of the nightlife. The stainless steel outdoor hot tub is dreamy, all the rooms have wood burning fireplaces, and the premiere room we stayed in had a clawfoot bathtub and heated floors. Friendly staff, […] rustic elegance, and romantic rooms. Great hotel. Read more
"Buffalo Mountain Lodge"
Although the service was good and I perhaps may give it another chance, my overall experience at this hotel was a negative one. Our room was very cold upon arrival and we had to call guest services to check the thermostat and then ended up having to use a space heater to heat up the room. The hot tub was warm at best and probably needed to be 10-20 […] degrees hotter to be considered a hot tub. Worst of all, we stayed in a room (601) which is right on the road and barely got any sleep. There are no soundproof windows, and each car the drives by sounds like it's right in your room. Our experience was ok, but when it comes to getting a good night's sleep, that's make-or-break. And on this one, it broke. Read more

My favorite place to stay in Banff. I have stayed here for years and really enjoy BML. I hadn't really noticed until this year that the walls are thin. "Beautiful Surroundings"
My husband and I stayed only one night but we had a wonderful stay the view from the balcony was breathtaking. We ate at the Sleeping Buffalo restaurant, the food was excellent and the service even better, our server was first class. We also used the gym and the hot tub, both were clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
"October 15, 2011 stay"
The hotel was rustic in its amenities and convenient as the wedding reception was across the road. The walls and ceilings are very thin and resulted in disrupted sleep early in the morning. You can hear the water running, people walking and talking. We were awoken at 6am and not able to sleep again and this was three hours before our alarm was set. "Maybe management is the problem?"
We visit Banff several times a year and will only stay in hotels with outdoor hot tubs. So we checked in late on Friday night and went right to the hot tub, only to find that it was lukewarm at best and the jets were not working. After a few minutes we were so cold we were shivering, so got out and ran back across the parking lot to our room. Once in […] our room we discover that the heat was not turned on, so we spent the rest of the night wearing every piece of clothing we had and shivering under the covers. The room did not really start to warm up until about 4 am. We (politely) complained to the front desk the next morning and were told they hot tub was 98 degrees, which is the hottest they could legally have it. I find this hard to believe since the government run hot springs down the street is 103. Every guest we spoke with complained about the hot tub as well, and we checked each night to see if the heat had been turned up, but it never was. I'm not sure why they were so insistent that the temperature was fine when everybody at the hotel was complaining it was too cold. Perhaps cheap management trying to save on heating rooms and the hot tub? It is too bad because other than this (and double beds in the room rather than queens) we liked the hotel, but based on this problem, and their reaction to it, we won't be back. Read more

"so so experience"
although fairly good rooms, the price for the room seemed steep for the quality of the room as it was showing its age. Tiling joint in the bathroom was missing and just seems like needed a upgrade throughout. Log fire was nice but again it shows its age and needed upgrading with new fire grill protection from use.
