Icelandair Hotel in Keflavik - Keflavik

This hotel is by far the best hotel near the airport and the customer service was just excellent. The negatives are: 1) the area surrounding the hotel is rather run down and depressing 2) the advertised airport shuttle service is only TO the airport and NOT from the airport.

We spent most of our stay in Mossfaelbaer and Vik...but this was a GREAT rate and experience for something near the airport to catch our flight. The room was clean and comfortable...and we enjoyed the computer in the lobby, as well as the free breakfast! Highly recommend to anyone on their way in or out of Iceland!

Ups and downs. Has an American style shower head, very good. The large bed is two twins with the worst mattresses ever. You would find a higher quality mattress in a hostel or a $10 fleabag motel in Mexico. This was a deluxe upgraded room as well. Unacceptable. Would not return.

Great place to stay close to airport for one night. Hotel staff was very friendly, rooms were very small but clean. Free ride back to airport but not from airport (strange) food was within walking distance. make sure you bring your own shampoo and soap. Don't take first taxi, get at least 3 estimates, mine were all different.

The rooms are pretty basic in this modern looking but overpriced hotel, with the quality being more like an average motel room in the USA. There are only 2 or 3 channels on the TV, one of which is the BBC. The breakfast is also basic, rather dry and boring, with some cereals, luke warm coffee and sliced pan. We flew in on the Red Eye from NYC and got ZERO sleep the entire way. Landed at 6am, got to the hotel at 6:45. it's only a 15minute ride from KEF! I made arrangements beforehand, they had a room waiting for us. We ate breakfast (great restaurant downstairs!) and hit the sack for about 6hours. Woke up, caught the afternoon bus to the Blue Lagoon and […] luxuriated for the rest of the day. Came back, grabbed a drink at the bar and walked to Kaffi Duus (another great restaurant, right down the street). We had a quiet night, the beds could have been a bit softer, but I still had a great sleep. Also, The FlyBus to Reykjavik pics you up out front. The hotel was supposedly renovated in 2007- if so it has seen a lot of hard living since then. It advertises a sauna, fitness room and hottub. Well there is a hot tub in a corner of the basement and the other 2 don't exist according to the desk. The only place to eat is in the hotel restaurant unless you want a sandwich from the gas station next door. […] Otherwise it is 15 minutes to a restaurant or grocery store. I took a room here because it's the best option if you must spend one night close to the airport. I would have taken a room in Reykiavik in any other case. This hotel is old and small and the prices are so much over what you are getting. Take it for one night if you are need to be early at the airport but don't expect too much for your money.

I did not like this hotel at all. the main benefit is it is very close to Keflavik airport and we had an early flight in the morning. The hotel has been "updated" but the hallways and carpeting is very old and stained. The room we had was VERY hot and the ONE window that opened was not sufficient to cool off the room. I would rate this hotel a 2 star […] hotel by US standards. Everwhere else in Iceland the hotels (even tiny ones) offer you free internet except for the iceland air hotel. There is a free shuttle FROM the hotel to airport but not FROM the airport to the hotel. The cost of a taxi from KEF to the hotel is 2500 ISK -- which equals almost $20 dollars. In retrospect it would have been cheaper and a better decision to stay in Reykjavik for the night and take an early Flybus (flybus.is) to KEF in the morning. Read more

We needed a hotel near the airport and this ticked the boxes, free shuttle to the airport at the early hours of the morning, really clean and comfortable room. Not an awful lot to do nearby but some decent places to eat nearby.

The only advantage with this hotel is its proximity to Keflavik airport. The town itself is windswept and uninviting- many of the shops and restaurants have shut as a result of the financial crisis. Hotellet ligger fint til i Keflavik sentrum. Personlig syntes jeg at det var mer behagelig å overnatte i Keflavik mtp utfartsmuligheter. Med mindre man er et utpreget bymenneske som absolutt må bo i byen, så er Keflavik (og dette hotellet) en enkel utfarts-åre til bla Gullfoss, Gardur, Blå Lagune, Tingvellir...+ +....... Det første som slo oss når vi gikk inn på hotellrommet vi hadde fått tildelt var at det minnet oss om en lugar, den følelsen ble bare forsterket når vi tok en titt inn på badet. Badet i og for seg minnet om noe plastic fantastic fra slutten 80 tallet begynnelsen 90, for det var plast på gulv, vegger og tak. Hotel room quality is "standard" (don't expect anything fancy). Power outlet by the bed, where I charged my phone, was broken (i.e. poor maintenance). Shower/bathroom is a plastic cell that you walk into - easy to clean but not very cosy. Breakfast was not included in price (it didn't cost so much to add but the price for the room felt like it should […] have included breakfast). Internet was not free (which is unusual for me). Wer spät in Keflavik annkommt oder früh abfliegt, ist im Icelandair Hotel bestens aufgehoben. Hervorzuheben ist neben dem Gratistransfer per Taxi zum/vom Flughafen vor allem die Grösse und gute Einrichtung der De-Luxe-Zimmer. Keflavik eignet sich jedoch nicht für längere Aufenthalte.

Un peu moyen comme hotel. Le personnel n'est pas des plus accueillants, la salle de bains de la chambre est une boite en plastique, genre "motel", la pomme de douche ne tient pas au mur, etc... Pour ce prix-là, on s'attend à mieux. Seul avantage, le petit-dèj qui commence à 5h. Pratique quand on a un avion tôt le matin.
