We stayed last year and again this year. The hotel is within walking distance to the intermodel station plus the city bus and the trolley stop right out infront. It is within walking distance to many eateries. If we needed to go farther, the hotel staff just ordered us a cab & called our room when it had arrived. The hotel is old with dated furnishings, but the beds were comfortable and the staff went out of their way. My husband and I even had elevator races to see who could get to the lobby first & neither one of us ever were stuck. If you're use to the Hilton, this isn't for you- but if you like a small personal hotel-this is it!

The first sign this might not be the best place to stay was when we went to take the elevator to our room and it was stuck with screaming people inside. I ran to tell staff and they just said oh its opening now like it was an everyday occurance. Room was dirty and old bathroom. It was 50 degrees outside during the day and no heater until after complaining. Also you can hear the bar thru the walls and everyones toilets flushing. And then to top it off, I got up extra early to make sure I would have hot water, it only lasted long enough to get wet, then straight cold, no one else with me could bathe. The only good thing, across the street from convention center. Also be prepared they charge to park at their hotel, and do not refund with stay.

Location was very good & so was parking. The room & decor was a bit dated, but I think most won't have a problem with that. My complaint was mainly that getting in the bed was like sinking into a pit. Put a new, firmer mattress in the room and I'd stay there again. I would have complained to the front desk about it, but it was too late in the night and I'd been traveling all day- didn't want another hassle.

What you see is what you get. This hotel doesn't pretend to be anything different. It is old, missing some things we come to expect in newer hotels - but, it is clean, functional, and has a friendly and helpful staff. After all, why stay in something you have stayed in 1,000 times before? The Park Central is authentic and honest. Much like the people of Fort Worth - no pretense, value-focused, down to earth.

There are a number of things wrong with this hotel, yet the staff attribute everything to the hotel being "old." There are plenty of old hotels, old buidings, and even old people, but many can be rehabilitated if someone wants to spend the money. That is not the case with this hotel. Here are the complaints: -- the elevators did not consistently work -- there were no coffee pots in the rooms -- the rooms were smelly -- the "water-cooled" air conditioning system didn't always work and room became unbearably hot in JANUARY -- there was no place to get breakfast except two blocks away

Parking was already inadequate, but they were selling what little they had to people attending events across the street at the convention center. They charged us $7.00 as hotel guests, then told us not to take our car out, there would be no spots when we returned. No heat in the room, fairly chilly on a late October night. The shower water ran from extreme hot to extreme cold with about 3 seconds of tolerable water in between. Downtown noice very loud in the room until wee hours of the night. People running up and down the exterior walkway in front of the rooms, yelling and partying until about 3:00 am. Beer bottles everywhere in the morning. Elevators not working properly. No coffee pots in rooms, the pot in the lobby was old, no matter, no coffee cups available anyway. The room didn't seem too dirty as long as you didn't look at the light switches. They were so nasty I wouldn't touch them with my bare hands. Worst hotel stay ever. Not worth the money!!

The hotel is in need of some improvements and updates, it is definitely nothing to write home about, but is does have some character (one of the elevators will not stop at the 4th floor going up, and will not not leave the 5th floor to stop on the 4th on the way down unless you also push the 3rd floor button) :) The hotel reminded me of some of the dives I used to stay at on vacation as a kid. It was definitely convenient access to the convention center. Despite it's lack of creature comforts it does provide the necessities with the addition of the good location and I would consider staying there again. As with everything in the downtown location, parking is a premium but even if hotel parking is full there are pay lots nearby.
