Loved my stay the only thing that was disappointing is that the fan in the bathroom was very noisy and clearly needed to be serviced. Other than that i would definitely stay there again and all the staff were very pleaseant and welcomingGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A lovely hotel"
This was a very nice hotel, the rooms were clean and well cared for, with clean bed linen and towels. The staff were also very pleasant. Nice gardens, although not many flowers at this time of year. Chesterfield and the Peak District are within comfortable driving distance. The high street nearby had shops and very nice restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great hotel for a city stay"
Our room had very creaky floorboards which were noisy whenever walking in roomGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to bars and restaurants"
We had booked the room last minute and it was a special deal so for a **** Hotel I expected the room to be as it was, a little dated and the ceiling needs repair work! But overall, we had a comfortable last minute break away, in locely surroundings and enjoyed the spa facilities and the breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review

Excellent value for money. Some areas in need of decoration but this did not spoil our stay. The hotel is in lovely grounds, very convenient for both city centre and the Peaks. Very helpful and friendly staff. Will definately stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel with lovely grounds."
Very nice hotel with lovely grounds. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was delightful and the menu gave us a good variety of choices. We really enjoyed the spa and gym facilities that were small but a good distraction from the constant rain. Really close to the City Centre that offered a good mix of shops.Genuine Expedia guest review
Friendly and helpful staff and comfortable rooms. The hotel has a pleasant garden and ample car parking. Good selection of buffet breakfast. Unfortunately toilets in reception area were not clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Conveniently situated for relaxing break"
Disappointing that bathroom toiletries lacked shampoo and shower cap. The room allocated was in itself OK but we were sent to the lower ground floor (basement) furthest point away from reception and dining room involving a long walk each time we left and returned to the room. I enquired if it was company policy to allocate bookings through Expedia to […] these rooms as this happened to us previously. They said there was no such policy and in future we should request where we would like to be and they would do their best to accommodate us. This hotel is very convenient for us when we visit our daughter in Sheffield and have used it several times. It is a nice hotel but I detect a little under staffed currently which shows at times that they become hasselled. We would use the hotel again in future. It is still good value. "Spacious hotel with pretty gardens"
There was no temperature control in the bedroom and it was impossible to turn off the heating, despite warm outside temperatures. This problem was also experienced in to some but not all of the rooms used by our travelling companions. This problem did detract from the stay, but the hotel has nice grounds, is well located in a residential area and has […] helpful staff. Breakfast selection was excellent. We had a room which overlooked the grounds, which was great. The room was warm though and the floor by the left hand side bed was warm to walk on. The window only opens a bit but we had 2 fans in the room which we used all the time. They were painting the hallways near us at the time, which didn't cause us any problems. The staff were really friendly […] and very welcoming. Breakfast was good and we sat by the window every day looking out on to the beautiful view. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not worth the money"
The setting is great but the hotel and certainly the wing we stayed in was looking very tired, rooms 301 to 335 ish. Our room was very dark with a view of trees that were very overgrown. The windows were in desparate need of replacing. Aircon wasn't working and the bathroom had certainly seen better days, yellow stains under loo seat and a pvc coating […] peeling off in the washbasin. The carpets were threadbare on the passageways which could be a serious trip hazard. The breakfast was good but service very slow in filling up the hot food trays. The plates on the first morning were cold but were replaced when asked for. The grounds did have good potential but the paths around the lake were very overgrown and quite dangerous. Drinks were very expensive and when I asked for a glass of lager to be changed because it was flat I didn't get any appology or comment but he did replace the drink somewhat reluctantly. The pool area was quite good but a good clean around the edge of the pool was needed. On the stairs there was a cupboard with a big notice saying that hazardous substances were stored and that the door should be kept locked, unfortunately the mortice lock had been removed and the door left open. A bit of TLC and more attention to health and safety issues wouldn't go amiss Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel, very well loacted for Sheffield area."
This hotel is very well positioned for both the city centre, and has quick access to the Peak National park. The hotel is situated in a Victorian/late Victorian district of Sheffield, with housing ranging from large Victorian mansions to bay fronted terraces. The hotel itself is situated in a lovely tree lined road, many of the roads in the area were […] planted with trees by the Victorians and are at their best from May to the Fall. The hotel stands in about 12 acres of grounds and even has its's own pond, with fish! Owls and foxes are in evidence. I have known the hotel through several giuses, Marriot, Swallow etc, for over 60 years, when it was simply The Kenwood. Rooms are in the modern section and are suitable for everyone from business people through families. Coming from the south via M1, I come in via Chesterfield (A617/A61) though it can be accessed via other junctions. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Kenwood Hall Stay"
In the same week that we stayed at Kenwood Hall, we also stayed at two other hotels, one of them 3* and one of them 5*. Based on our experience of those hotels, and of other 4* hotels we have stayed in, we failed to see how Kenwood Hall could possibly have a rating as high as 4*. In the other hotels we stayed in that week, we were treated like guests. […] At Kenwood Hall, we were treated like clients. Rooms weren't up to a 4* standard, and ours was covered in cobwebs. We were in a ground floor room and the lock on the window was broken. The bathroom wasn't up to standard, with mismatched tiles and only shower gel and a bar of soap complimentary. The hotel grounds were very overgrown, with the walk around the lake almost impassable in places. The paths were poorly maintained and were quite hazardous. We were on a room only basis in all three hotels we stayed at, but purchased breakfast at the other two hotels. The 3* hotel had full English for £10, the 5* hotel with a Michelin star chef only charged £7.95, but Kenwood Hall wanted to charge us £14.95, so we didn't purchase breakfast. We did have lunch, a burger with salad and 6 hand cut chips for £12.95 and Eton Mess for £5. Both tasted nice, but were overpriced. If you simply need somewhere to sleep, this hotel is fine, but if you want a nice overall experience, this isn't the place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
we booked this hotel for a romantic weekend away, the hotel photo's on the internet look amazing so we paid more than our budget expecting to get what we paid for. the hotel should not be advised as 4star, the carpets are tread bare in places esspecially the stairs with grip robs showing through. the room wasn't clean packets of sweets at the back of […] the bedside cabinet and sweets under the bed. we booked 2 rooms and one of the rooms had to be moved 3 times cos of problems in the rooms. no hot water in the shower, shower didnt work, no hairdryer. the reception staff should go on a customer service course as the second room we where given they had the keycard slammed on the counter saying"theres you key" not told what number where it was nothing. plus the brazil judo team were there making lots of noise at breakfast the milk jug had to go back cos it looked like it had weetabix dried inside the jug, i am highly dissapointed with the price i paid for this hotel as i felt it wasn't worth it Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"a hotel that could be great"
booked this in May for 2 nights in July. Upon arrival from Wiltshire we were told at 10pm they had over booked and had no room for us. The only other hotel in Sheffield able to accommodate us had one double room designed for a disabled person. We were very grateful to the Leopold Sheffield for putting us up, otherwise we might have had to sleep in the […] car. We phoned next day, Kenwood Hall, and they made room for us on the second night. had to ask for up grade, the room was big, shabby, hot water dangerously hot, one soap, one bath lotion. The hotel was busy with Brasil judo team and some other swimming team attending breakfast was like being back in boarding school. The swimming pool was not available for us to use, this being the main reason for choosing the hotel we felt let down. NO communication from anyone regarding this. The gave us a refund, which we would not expect anything less. Over all a dreadful experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"KENWOOD HALL HOTEL, SHEFFIELD"
We arrived late at the hotel with our young daughter, we did not receive any assistance with our bags, just pointed in the direction of a luggage trolley that was far too large for the lift (you could only just get 1 person in with it!). Not the best start after a 3 hour journey to get there. An email had been sent the day before to advise of our late […] arrival and also to request a cot/bed for our daughter - the e-mail had been overlooked, but they were able to accommodate our request and we received a room upgrade. Mother-in-Law was not able to be on the same floor as us because of this upgrade and they were not able to relocate her room. We booked a room only rate, and whilst at the hotel I enquired how much it would cost for us to have breakfast and was told a rate of £14.95 per person, this was after the receptionist had looked at the room rate we had paid. On checking out the same question was asked and a rate of £10 per person was quoted if booked the night before breakfast was required. A little bit of staff training might go along way. This is definately a function hotel and I have to say that the guests attending the wedding on the saturday night were very inconsiderate (at 3am) to other guest when returning very loudly to their rooms and yes the noise did wake and unsettle our daughter. "Very family friendly"
We spent one night in this hotel and really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful grounds, large rooms which were perfect when with young children and good facilities such as the swimming pool. The rooms could do with a little updating, however this was a minor issue as it was comfortable and had character. It was nice to be able to put our 18month old to bed […] and have comfy armchairs to sit on, in a slightly separate area and read/watch tv quietly. We know Sheffield pretty well and were visiting friends and we thought the location was really good. Very near to Eccleshall road which has plenty of family friendly restaurants. The staff were very accomodating and one of them gave our little boy some bread to feed the ducks in the grounds. We were also given a later checkout time for free so that we could use the pool and have a more leisurely morning. I will be booking this hotel again when we are next in the area. "Beautiful grounds, old fashioned room"
The room I got was huge, which is great when you have a baby but it was quite old fashioned and there were other people's hairs still in the bathroom. However, the service was good, even though the restaurant didn't open until 7pm they offered me a childrens meal for my 1 year old before that. I was there for a wedding and those room and the grounds […] were beautful although the rooms for ceremony and reception were very small and we were crowded in. We walked to a park (it took ages to find anyone who knew where one was) which took about 20 mins and there was a lovely street with great looking restaurants in it close by. "Very comfortable hotel with beautiful grounds"
We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and have always enjoyed our stay. The rooms are clean and have all the facilities you would expect and ,most importantly, very comfortable beds. Breakfast is well worth having and is served in the dining room overlooking the lake. I have two small criticisms. One concerns the bathroom which could do with […] updating (there was a problem with the temperature control on the shower). The other concerns the parking, we stayed two nights and on returning to the hotel in the evenings we had to park on the road outside the hotel. Not a major problem but inconvenient. "Great dog-friendly hotel"
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were traveling with our two dogs, and the hotel gave us a room near the exit which was very helpful. The room itself was very large and comfortable, the only minor drawback was the bathroom was a little dated (but still very clean and functional). The staff was very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed […] the hotel grounds as well, there was a cute little trail and a big grassy area that was great for the dogs, as well as the little "lake" out front. The hotel was in a quiet area, and close to the Peak District which was our main reason for the visit. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area, and appreciate the dog-friendliness! "Listen out for the owl"
This is a quiet hotel away from the hubbub of the city. Plenty of parking available but only a short taxi ride (or walk) into the city centre. Good for anyone visiting the University - again, not next door but and easy walk over to the University areas and the restaurants etc. The only thing which disturbs the quiet is an owl which sits in a tree in […] the grounds hooting loudly - but I think that adds to the character! Room depends on whether you are in the old or new parts of thre hotel. The newer part is pretty conventional but comfortable business hotel standard. A few details could do with updating - some of the showers have handrails in which are a bit awkward and could do with a lick of paint, but generally clean and comfortable. the same is true of the older part but the rooms are more characterful and larger in my experience. Breakfast is good and I like the view over the grounds to the lake in the morning - hard to believe you are in the city. Overall a good hotel Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Very dissapointed, booked room for two and only 1 bath towel, no hand towels. Then hot water stopped running about 8 pm, was this why we had one towel? Then toilet stopped working shortly after as no water to that, reception were hopeless and after many excuses said it would be the next morning when they could look at the water supply. It eventually […] came back on at 8;30 am the next morning when we were checking out.
