We chose the hotel because of its location and for the fact that it advertised itself as being sound proofed. In both of these respects it was excellent- it is very close to excellent public transport [metro and Renfer].It was also extremely quiet until the final evening of our stay when 3 bus loads of tourists arrived between 8pm and 10pm [115 people] and they completely overwhelmed the facilities of the hotel. They were up and about from 7am and made a great deal of noise and so overwhelmed the breakfast room [which was very small] that we couldnt get anything to eat until 10am [and most of the buffet was gone by then]. If the hotel wishes to attract independent visitors like ourselves then they cant simultaneously cater for bus loads of noisy East Europeans. Pity since we would otherwsie have used the hotel again and would have liked to recommend it unreservedly.

An excellent choice if you are coming from the West (e.g. up the A5 from the Extremadura), and easy to get to the airport even though it is on the wrong side of the city as it is v close to the M30 circular (though you need good directions, which the front desk provided). Rooms excellent, staff excellent. When I managed to drop my car keys down the elevator shaft, I thought it was going to be a disaster, but they were able to retrieve them with no fuss and it took only 5 minutes. Thanks guys!

"Good location and great service"
Traveling isn't was it used to be and we all find ourselves victims of rerouting and change of schedule. We arrived at the Acta in the early morning hours of a sunday morning (some 4 hours ahead of time). As soon as the Head of Reception arrived we were constantly updated on our rooms status. All 7 of our rooms were made available to us by 10:30 am. All of us were extremely grateful. Nice room layout and functional bathroom. Professional staff. Overall a good stay.

"Nice for 1 or 2 days"
The hotel was easy to find in the front of Principe Pio Station. The were very comfortable the best of all the 4 hotels we stayed. But they did not have any refrigerator in the room not even at small one for that reason is not a good place for a long stay. The decoration in the room was nice and modern. The bedroom did not have a full body mirror it only had a small one in the bathroom.

"Great base to see Madrid and surrounding area"
I stayed at Hotel Acta Madfor for 4 nights at the end of March. It was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at. The beds were soft, the room was clean (if a bit sparsely furnished), and the shower pressure was amazing. It's located right across the street from Principe Pio, so you can easily take the metro to get around Madrid, or hop on a Cercanias train to visit places outside Madrid, like El Escorial. The wifi worked great the whole time we were there, and we were able to store our stuff in their lockers post-checkout for a very reasonable fee (2 euro!), rather than lugging our stuff around the city. I would gladly book this hotel again if I return to Madrid.

"Great location, good price"
Great location with the train and metro stations across the road, many eateries. The room is simple and clean. Comfortable bedding, and spacious bathroom but no rack or shelf to put clothes for shower. Television channels are all Spanish speaking, nothing for non Spanish speaking guests. No fridge. We checked out at 2 pm (2 hours after 12 noon, paid E10 and left luggage in the big locker for E2 (non refundable). Overall a good place to stay. I will come back to stay if I should visit Madrid again.

"Does the job"
A small compact room if you book standard. Reminded me of a private room hostel. The air conditioning did not work in the room & it was quite warm. It did turn on at one point for a few minutes but was quite noisy, then shut down. Although the hotel is soundproofed from exterior noise it is not internally soundproofed. You can hear every single noise from people coming up stairwells & from far along the hallways- people were quite noisy. I could hear everything happening in the rooms next to me.... Toilet& shower activities, talking alarms going off & set to snooze continually. Probably more the manners of clientele rather than the hotel. However, when it was quiet it was lovely!!

We stayed for 3 nights at the hotel in July. The room was very clean and spacious for two. We liked the shower pressure a lot. "Amazing value for money"
This hotel was about 5 minutes from the city centre by metro with a main station right over the road. It was modern and spacious and was amazing value for money! I don't really have anything to complain about, we did find little things such as a tear in our curtains and a bobby pin on the floor and what looked like a grape stalk in the kitchen drain but it didn't even matter because it was still amazing for the price we were paying to stay that close to the centre! The staff were mostly friendly and they always said hello and goodbye. One thing worth mentioning though is we ended up only going for breakfast there once, as it is €8,50 for a mediocre breakfast, were as just down the road was a croissant and coffee with jam and butter for only €2, but this was a minor thing that didn't even really bother is as it was literally about 5 doors down! Also as an aside the safes are free which was a good surprise. Overall it was amazing value for money and I would definitely stay again.

"Great location, lovely modern hotel"
This hotel is a great base for a short break to Madrid. I was there with my 16 yearold daughter for three days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is just across the road from Principe Pio station, so handy to use the Renfe line from the airport. With the added bonus of 110 shops in the Principe Pio centre. The hotel is about 10/15 mins walk from the Palace and the Plaza Mayor. The walk is a little uphill but there are buses and the metro will take you into any Metro Station. We walked, the city is beautiful and too good to miss. Fabulous shopping, great food...perfect

"Lovely stay in Madrid."
The hotel was very well situated near the Principe Pio metro and bus station good location for getting metro to airport. Lovely view of the palace from the terrace level 8. The reception staff were very welcoming friendly and helpful in giving advice on the city and the local area. Breakfast which was a buffet with plenty of choice of hot and cold foods and fruit was well worth adding to our stay the only let down was the coffee machine. We had a very interesting and enjoyable stay in Madrid. Definitely worth taking the tour bus ticket for two days as we managed to take in most of the city by travelling around on the bus and it gave us an opportunity to choose the key places of interest to visit, like the palace, the national art gallery and the beautiful parks.

The Actor Madfor in Madrid was right opposite the Principe Pio railway station so it was easy to access any part of Madrid. Plaza de Espana where we could pick up the Hop-on-hop-off bus and tours to other places was only one station away and within walking distance. Principe Pio also had a classy shopping centre inside with a good variety of eating places. There were many eating places on the street nearby too.

"Weekend in Madrid - 4/7June"
Having read the reviews on Expedia I was confident I had made the right choice. My partner and I found the hotel with ease and having checked in made our way to our room (4th floor of 8) - Good first impressions of hotel, clean and modern with a quirky twist of old style English. Room was well presented and clean, couldn't have asked for more as was only for a short break - only niggle being that there wasn't a fridge available in the room which would have been helpful to keep water cool. The bathroom was fully functional and spacious with good water pressure on the shower. The air con was a little tempremental in that it didn't seem as though you could alter from your room (maybe central control) however having left it on for a while before going to bed this enabled a more bearable tempurature. We had a balcony which was nice, facing the train station and with a view of the palace. And although we were on a main road we weren't disrupted by any noise. The train station across the road is well located along with a shopping mall and metro station, even arriving at 11pm on a Thursday we were still able to eat in the Italian restaurant in the mall (best pizza crust I have ever come across)! The hotel seemed to offer late check out which is useful, from memory it was €10 for 2pm checkout, €20 for 3pm and €30 for 3pm - We didn't utilise this but is useful to know. Also offered bicycle hire which was reasonable (€10 an hour or €15 for 1/2 day). Perfect Break!

"Lovely hotel in great location!"
Me & my boyfriend visited Hotel Acta Madfor in May '15 & were extremely impressed by the hotels location, interior & facilities. The hotel was situated across the road from the Principe Pio station which made getting to the hotel from the airport & travelling around the city extremely easy - that said we hardly used the underground as the hotel was only a short walk to the centre & attractions which was ideal for us. There is a big supermarket next to the hotel, shopping centre across the road & bars & restaurants were in close proximity which was convenient . The hotel itself seemed newly decorated with a trendy yet cosy feel & the bedroom & bathroom were very clean. The beds were comfy & the room had blackout curtains - It was also peaceful at night which all combined made it very easy to get to sleep. The only negative point was that our room seemed to be near the cleaning cupboard & the door to this slammed shut a few times during the early morning which woke us up. There was free wifi throughout the building & the communal areas including the chill out room (which had sofas, computers, books etc in it) & roof top seating area were both nicely decorated & kept very tidy. The hotel had large lockers to store your luggage if required, which we thought was great as it meant you didn't have to wait to drop off/retrieve your luggage. The staff that we had interactions with all seemed friendly & helpful. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of food including hot foods, col

"Nice hotel in a different location"
This hotel is in quite a different location to others in Madrid but we actually enjoyed where it was. It is a close enough walk into Puerta de Sol and Gran Via (15-20 mins) and then onto the Paseo del Prado but it is also close enough to the Teleferico and the Casa del Campo if you want to go into those (we headed to the zoo). Madrid is such a brilliant walking city or with good transport links (only used the Metro once but it was easy) and the Principe Pio station is right across the road for getting around. There is a lot of space for walking around in a great area. The hotel itself is nice. We had the eight floor with fantastic views to the Royal Palace and the Casa del Campo. The room had lots of space. Unfortunately the air conditioning didn't do a whole lot to cool the room down (watch I guess if going in the summer) but the window let some cool air in. Staff were generally friendly and efficient. There was a big area in the hotel for lounging around but we spent most of our time out and about. The hotel also had a left luggage area (you can store suitcases in lockers for €2). We didn't have breakfast as we were able to get pastries and such from the supermarket next door as we wanted to explore whilst we were around.

"Wouldn't stay again"
I stayed here for 4 days in March as part of a solo visit to Madrid. I would say there are lots of little things that mean this hotel is fine, but not great or even good. I was given a twin room rather than a double, and apparently no different rooms were available, the wifi barely worked in my room, the walls are paper thin (so much so that I could hear both of my neighbours snoring all night), the staff don't look after your key when you go out and the cleaners are stupidly early (half past 8 in the morning). The breakfast is good and the location is great as it is opposite a key metro station, but I think somewhere closer to the actual city centre would be better.

the hotel was lovely and the location is a big plus because it is central to almost everything. there are very good local restaurants nearby and it is just right across the Principe pio station. the view fro. the hotel is quite good especially from the terrace in the uppermost deck and the balcony in the room offers a goof view of the Rio Madrid area. Two things we weren't very keen about were the noise in the hotel area during daytime, which was a pain especially if you have been out for a late night. Also there wasn't any complimentary coffee, tea etc in the room. You have to go down to the lounge area and buy from vending machine or buy your own outside. Overall it was an enjoyable stay.
