Mercure Hotel Potsdam City - Potsdam 52.3943, 13.05902

We stayed in one of their junior suites. We had plenty of room, with a separate sitting area. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was spacious with separate tub and shower. The hotel was within a short walking distance to the train station, the old part of town, and to trams taking you to the palaces. We brought our dog and there was a nice park next to the hotel to walk him. Breakfast was very good, but a little pricey. It cost 16 euro extra each.The hotels and rooms were very clean. We were also able to rent bikes right at the hotel, which was very convenient. The only complaint that we had was the room was supposed to have airconditioning, but it never got quite cool enough. The windows did not open enough to get a good breeze. Since we were on the 16th floor it got a little warm and stuffy. Overall we would recommend this hotel and we got alot of room for our money.

This hotel is about 1/4 mile from the main train station in Potsdam, and a five minute walk from downtown Potsdam. Buses to the castles depart from 1/8 mile down the street. Hotel staff provided excellent information and service; the rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. Excellent choice for travelers depending on public transportation, or biking.

I was really surprised to get such a good deal on this highly rated hotel (my husband asked if we would have to wash dishes for that price!) and I must say it was worth it. But the rooms are very small! The bathrooms are VERY compact and don't even have a door (European style?). The sliding door for the shower stall slid to cover the toilet area, if needed. There were two single beds pushed together (that IS European style), a small desk with a chair and a small regular chair. But the walking area around this furniture was so limited, there was no convenient place to put our luggage. My luggage took over the regular chair and my husband's luggage was on a supplied luggage stand between the desk and bed and was constantly moved so we could walk around. But the room had lots of amnemities! Hair dryer, safe, small refrigerator, TV, phone. But the bathroom sink area was so small, I barely had room for the toothbrush, toothpaste and hair brush! And the lights were set up funny and we never figured out how to control all of them. One bedside light controlled the whole room and the other bedside light wouldn't work unless the other side was on. Therefore, I couldn't read into the night without having my husbands side light on. Weird! And, like the other hotel we stayed in Germany, the bed was hard and the pillows were thin (we had to ask for 2nd pillows). But, it was clean, comfortable enough and definitely affordable.

Zentrale Lage des Hotels (5-10 min zu Fuß in den Innenstadtbereich), kostenlose Parkplätze, kostenloser Internetzugang in der Hotellobby. Zweckmäßige Einrichtung der Zimmer mit sehr kleiner Naßzelle (ca. 4 qm) im Eingangsbereich, Zimmer insgesamt sehr klein, es ist jedoch alles vorhanden was man für 1-2 Übernachtungen benötigt (Schreibtisch, kleine Garderobe, aber kein richtiger Kleiderschrank, Zimmersafe, Telefon, TV, Fön, wireless-Interness gegen Aufpreis € 12,- für 12h). Für einen längeren Aufenthalt sind die Zimmer zu klein. Servic ist o.k., leider läßt jedoch die Sauberkeit ein wenig zu wünschen übrig: es lagen bei Ankunft lange dunkle Haare auf dem Badezimmerfußboden, sowie waren Spinnweben hinter dem Vorhang (fällt natürlich nur auf, wenn man auch im 8.Stock lüften will und das Fenster öffnet). Bei online-Buchung ist das Doppelzimmer jedoch auch günstiger als vergleichbar Hotels vor Ort,

Dieses Hotel ist super modernisiert worden, seit ich vor einigen Jahren schon einmal hier übernachtet habe. Die Zimmer sind sehr ansprechend und gepflegt, besonders gefiel mir auch das Badezimmer-Design mit den Glastüren. Obwohl draußen im angrenzenden Park eine Open Air-Veranstaltung war, hörte man keinen Lärm im Zimmer. Die Fenster sind sehr gut isoliert. Der einzige Wermutstropfen war das viel zu teure Frühstücksbuffet, auf das ich deshalb verzichtet habe.
