We were staying here for four nights of our honeymoon and the first thing we were greeted with when we arrived were twin beds made up separately. After a bit of complaining, we were apologised to and given an upgrade with 50% reduction in the upgrade cost. This room was a suite with double bed, sea views from the top floor, a sofa and three balconies. […] Still, the furnishings were basic and the bathroom was also nothing special. No soaps or nice products, and no special service whatsoever. Breakfast in the hotel was less than average quality, though there was a good choice at the buffet and well stocked, the rooftop bar had a great view, and the cocktails were nothing special, but ok. The spa was very standard as well with a small indoor pool and basic sauna and steamroom. Treatments looked reasonably priced, but no idea if they are any good. We didn't eat in the restaurant. Overall, it is a hotel which says it has a lot of facilities, but these are all very average, as it the service and room quality. Location is fairly good and the sea views were nice from the top floor/rooftop facilities. April 2012 : Admittedly the hotel decor is a little tired in some areas but hotel refurbs are expensive and we are in a global recession. My room on the 9th floor was in a good state of decor and comfortable. The soap dispenser in the bath/shower looked like it could use a good clean but then there was a brand new set of toiletries provided so that […] didn't bother me. The breakfast buffet was enormous and well stocked, the pool, gym and steam room/Jacuzzi facilities were brilliant. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is well served by bus stops on both sides of the road immediately outside connecting you to Valetta or St Julians in 10 mins. The beach club was not open during my pre season stay but again this didn't bother me as there is the indoor pool and plenty of lidos if you want an outdoor pool. I would definitely stay here again. Top Tip: take the X3/4/5/ bus from the airport to Valetta then the no13 bus to the hotel, 2 euros 60 for an all day pass instead of 20 euros for a taxi. Read more

Although this hotel is in a fantastic place in Sliema as it is surrounded with nice bars, shopping centres, sea views, sea shores and nice walking promenade, it lacks good service!!!!!! The room was not ready by 13.00 and the hotel was not full!!!!! When i got to another room as mine was not ready, i heard lots of shouting by the hotel maintenance team […] and the chambermaids cleaning the other rooms!!!!!! We booked three rooms - my husband & I; our two daughters; and my mum. We were put on different floors and they couldn't change us. The telephones were oUt of order when we arrived and so I spent a lot of time in the extremely slow lifts checking on my mum (age 84). We were told the phones would be on the following morning but it took two full days […] and there was no communication about it. There were no toiletries in the rooms apart from liquid soap in a wall dispenser - being advertised as a 4 star hotel I did not bring shampoo or conditioner and had to buy them. The sheets weren't changed more than once - 5 night stay - and so the wrinkles returned after the first turn over each night. The towels were changed but were tired and worn. Most of the staff were abrupt and certainly not enough in the lobby bar each evening. I would give a special mention of Carmen in the restaurant at breakfast - friendly and efficient. Read more

I had a few concerns about this hotel after reading some of the reviews - I needn't have worried. I had a great stay in the Hotel Preluna. The room was a comfortable size and clean, the bathroom was large, the balcony was a decent size with a fine view towards the sea, the breakfast was very good, and the staff were friendly. I was lucky and got a […] room on the 10th floor so noise from the street was minimal. On the negative side, some of the room furniture was a bit tired (but you wouldn't notice it unless you looked closely) and the balcony furniture looked a bit grubby, but a towel soon solved that problem. The hotel is very convenient for access to the Sliema shopping area and ferries (where you can easily organise your sightseeing trips). There are also plenty of bars and restaurants nearby so it should be possible to find something to suit most tastes. I thougt the hotel was great value for money and would have no hesitation in booking another stay in the Hotel Preluna. Read more

I was a little surpised and annoyed on arrival to find that I had to pay for the gym, which is one of the main things I look for on booking a hotel. Luckily, compared to many hotel gyms it wasnt a bad one one so I didnt mind paying a small weekly fee. The indoor swimming pool, not unlike most hotel swimming pools, is not really for swimming in with […] room for about 3 stokes, and the outdoor pool is not heated. If you want to get some serious swimming in, look for the50m heated, outdoor National Pool about 15 minutes walk away. The 'jacuzzi' is not really a jacuzzi as it is just some bubbles in a corner of, and the same temperature as the pool. The steam room wasnt working when we were staying there. Most standard rooms have very old fashioned furnishings - not like those in the photos. The rain rendered it impossible to sleep as it made the most unberable din against the aluminium window sills. The above drawbacks, did not make our stay an unhappy one, but is meant to be a list of constructive criticism. This is probably a really nice hotel to stay in, in the summer when you can take advantage of the outdoor facilities. The 'skyroom' is a lovely add on and great for if you want to look at the sea and the sky when its cold outside. The breakfast room is nice and open and light. The service was friendly, caring and efficient. The receptionists went out of their way to help and advise me on a number of occasions. Read more

This is a very good hotel and is in a very good position to use as an exploring base. We couldn't use the outdoor pool as the sea was so rough the waves were breaking over the outer wall, but it looked very nice from the restaurant window. We stayed at Preluna for 5 days right after Easter. interesting experience different expectations charming in its way. Transport is ridiculous old buses dirty paying to the driver, no change given. transport cheap, 0.47 e except direct transfers 1.19 e. good transfers, no need to rent a car. Sliema one of the best places to stay in Malta, very close […] to St Julians, also to Valleta. Preluna nice experience, nothing extraordinary, a classic 3 stars hotel, not 4* reasonable enough. The staff nice, the only proper customer service we got in Malta. Reception, Triton restaurant, they were all professional. Bad experience at the italian restaurant poor quality food and expensive. Wonderful food and menu at Triton restaurant. The spa good facilities gym very well equipped, the pool and Jacuzzi nice and clean, different treatments available. Cross the road Fortiza Restaurant good food/drinks, good prices, nice staff. You can see Valetta in half a day, take the bus tour and do the north Medina is special, Mosta (the Dome unique), Buggiba and Peaceville in its heart there is a mall with a steak house restaurant at the 1st floor, food is delicious and very affordable. St Julians nicest part of Malta, for walking on the promenade (30 min to Sliema). Bus tour for south and north, also Gozo, different people different attitude and approach in here nice memories.
