"Good place for a short stay"
The room was clean and the front desk was very helpful. The building is old and the halls and room needs repainted. The towels were thin and not enough were supplied. Overall a good place to stay for 1 to 2 nights. The breakfast was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a great hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Room wasn't ready in time for check in. 2 hours late. Room was too hot would not cool down. No bath towels only one hand towel and two wash cloths. No espn or any sports channels. No refrigerator or microwave. Too pricey!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location of this hotel is terrific. Just a couple of blocks from Forest Park and around the corner from the West End trendy shops and restuarants. The hotel has been remodelled as far as decor and includes "hardwood looking" floors in the guest rooms (brilliant idea, much easier to keep clean!). The beds are comfy. Someone, however, was NOT thinking […] when they chose flat paint on the guest room walls including the bathroom walls. I assume since flat paint is more difficult to clean marks off of, they chose to touch up the paint in scuffed areas. Regrettably the paint didn't match and therefore left obvious patches everywhere which made the room look shabby. That is a shame since the room was actually well decorated. The most frustrating thing we encountered was the thermostat. The room was set at 83 degrees when we arrived! It was obviously hot in the room. Before we left for dinner we set the thermostat to 70, turned it to COOL and set the fan on automatic. When we returned 3 hours later, it was STILL 83 degrees and the vent was blowing warm air. I called the front desk and was told that the entire hotel was set to "heat" since it was late October and even if we set our room thermostat to cool, it would still only push warm air. Their advice was to turn the thermostat off altogether. Why have thermostats in the rooms if they can't be controlled by the guest? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The check in was enjoyable. The lady at the counter was nice and friendly. Waling to my room the hallway carpet was dirty and filthy. In my room my toilet handle was close to the wall. The toilet handle left a hall in the sheetrock from it's many uses. Lastly, my room smelled of sewer gas.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Older hotel but great location and accommodations!"
We chose this hotel based on the location, price and the amenities. It was so convenient to have free parking, free wifi and continental breakfast. The neighborhood turned out to offer plenty of restaurants and bars. "Good place to stay"
I really liked the location of the hotel. It is in a safe walkable neighborhood & was close to local eateries as well as a Metro stop. The staff was all very nice. The housekeeper went out of her way to let us in our room when we got back to our room after the checkout time. The desk gal even reactivated a key to get us in. They were accommodating to […] our late check out. The breakfast was well stocked and had a lot of choices Our only issues were that we asked for a roll away when we arrived and had to ask twice more (waiting until late night) before they delivered it. The hallway carpets really need to be shampooed. Otherwise the hotel is updated and very clean. I will stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Clean room, but I could not stand in the shower without touching the wall or curtain. Also, towels outside of the bathroom for no apparent reason (there was room under the vanity). Didn't like the fake hardwood floors, either. Not comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"What you'd expect"
This hotel is pricey considering the quality and comfort it offers. The advantage, and price, probably comes from its proximity to the terrific west end eateries - within walking distance. Otherwise, it is so-so - slamming doors, television noise from adjacent rooms, not enough towels, decent but typical breakfast. Parking can be difficult, although […] there is an underground parking garage, getting from there into the hotel requires stairs. It wouldn't be my first choice next time - for the price, there are more comfortable hotels nearby. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Definitely not a three-star location"
Checked in, walked to my room & couldn’t get in. Back downstairs to have keys reprogrammed. Tried it a second time, to no avail. During the back and forth, I could help notice the huge stains in the hallway carpeting. Looked like massive oil spills everywhere. Finally the clerk assigned me a different room, tried that room and by the sound of the […] load scream, it was already occupied by a terrified woman with a great set of lungs… Trekked once again downstairs with all my belongings and two daughters. Clerk (only one on duty was a bit busy this time. On the phone and from all the apologizing, I concluded he was on the phone with what seemed to be the horrified woman I just spooked. Finally, this time the clerk got it right… a room I can actually enter, that’s unoccupied. First thing we noticed was the foul odor in the room, luckily I always travel with scented candles… We were out all day and when we returned after dinner, the room hadn’t been touched by housekeeping. We were assigned another room. Same scenario the very next day…back mid-day and no housekeeping. Called front desk, who was assured by the supervisor that our room would be next on list to be cleaned…HA! Time for dinner and no housekeeping visit, so prior to stepping out I reminded the front desk and was assured it would be taken care of…HA!!! Another room change…ERRRRRRR Had I not prepaid for a three night stay, I would’ve made an about-face and stayed elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"at the heart of west-end"
very friendly staff, clean hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The best part of this hotel is location and price. The Central West End boasts plenty of eateries, shops, and attractions that St. Louis is known for and the Comfort Inn is right in the mix of it all. Many attractions are within walking distance, and the rest (downtown, Tower Grove park, etcetera) require only a small cab fare. The cost of the hotel […] is perfect if you are traveling on a budget, as it beats almost every hotel in the vicinity. The downside is that the number of workers are small and the maintenance is lackluster. The amenities of a once posh independent boutique hotel are evident but upkeep is a problem as there are scuff marks, toilet paper holders missing, and scratches/stains on the carpets and halls leading to the rooms. The rooms are also on the small side, but certainly adequate/comfortable when compared to other hotel rooms in different cities. Some bathrooms only have a shower stall and that can be quite limiting if you have special needs, so that is something one should be aware of. Overall, the comfort and convenience were adequate to excellent and the (limited) staff was very friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"love this hotel. stay here a lot"
I stay here because it is convenient to the bars I go to. Great rooms. This king room had a HUGE balcony. Bteakfast is good. Meat and eggs. Biscuits and gravy. Plus all the normal stuff. Goody bag checking in since I was member of their frequent stay club. Accommodated early check in at noon. THANKS! Only problem was cards are proximity readers not […] mag stripe and had to have mine redone. Check to see your card works as you leave the room. Save a trip downstairs. This hotel is decorated decently, however it is filthy! Stains on carpeting throughout entire hotel, and dirt smudges on all walls. I would definitely not recommend it. The breakfast bar was nearly empty by 8:30.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Needs some work"
This was our second time staying. Overall, it is a good value, but the carpets in the hallways are filthy and the second elevator has not been in service on either of our stays. Because the hotel was completely booked, the wait for the one working elevator was sometimes long. The breakfast is done well, and the rooms are very clean. A steam cleaning […] of the carpets and repair of the elevator would up my rating. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to the Hospitals"
This Comfort Inn provides excellent value for money. Staff is friendly and helpful and the free breakfast is excellent. Also, free WiFi is provided. And it is right between St. Louis's hospitals and all the restaurants in the Central West End. And it is a couple of blocks from the cathedral.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My boyfriend and I stayed one night at the Comfort Inn in the CWE because we were in town for a wedding - thought the outside appearence was very poor, but once inside was decently impressed. We dropped off our bags and went to the wedding - came back later that evening to sleep - and found 10 towels under our sheets. We pulled out the towels and found […] that they were covering a HUGE yellow stain. Needless to say we were very disappointed after that and will not be returning. the floor was coming up in our room, the bathroom was filthy, you have all this space in the room itself and the bathroom is barely big enough to fit in. "Great Location; Falling Apart Hotel"
The location was great! However, the cleanliness of the room was awful. I had to switch to a different room and when I switched to the second room I couldn't tell which one was worse. For the rate I paid [$150], I was VERY disappointed in the upkeep of the hotel. The night before I stayed at a LaQuinta Inn and paid $79 and was SURPRISINGLY happier with […] my stay at their hotel. The front desk was very nice on a positive note, but not very informative. In the guest information booklet in the rooms it said that breakfast was served until 10am and when I went down at 9:30am they had already cleaned up breakfast. I then saw the sign that said breakfast was only until 9am; this is something the front desk should inform guests when they check in. It was a bummer considering that was a perk I thought to staying at the Comfort Inn...the "free breakfast." Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Decent place - fix your coffee issues."
Solid service and reasonable price for my business trip. The included breakfast is a step up from your standard continental. A couple of minor things: first, the rooms have Keurig coffee machines and despite the staff's assurances, the regular coffee packs do not work well with them. The coffee comes out weak and watery. I think they were out of the […] cups, but coffee is quite important to me so this was a little disappointing. Second, two times in my three night stay, random alarms went off early in the morning and stayed on for more than a minute. I was already awake both times, but could be quite annoying for people trying to sleep in. Otherwise, it was fine and well-located for both the airport and the downtown area. This is a very nice property. Good location, great neighborhood, easy to get to from the expressways. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Parking is free. The only negative was the breakfast. When we arrived at the breakfast area there was nothing there. Everything was empty. There was only one person working the area and she was trying her best […] to keep up, but was unable to. "Cute but shabby"
We picked this hotel for its proximity to all of the fun things we wanted to so on our mini vacation. It's close to the basilica, the zoo, the science center, Washington University, and the Central West End. The decor is cute. It's got a boutique feel to it. The front desk staff were very nice. The room itself was really cute. Bright colors, hard wood […] floors, huge shower head. There was a flat screen tv, a comfy chair, and the beds were really comfortable. On the down side: only one working elevator in the whole building. The hall ways are shabby. The entire restroom was super small. There's a great shower head but its almost too big for the shower. The biggest negative for this hotel is its housekeeping. The obvious things were clean, the toilet, sink, floors, etc. But if you look any further you can tell its been a while since anyone has done a deep clean. There's dust on the mirrors, smudges on the walls, etc. All in all I would definitely stay here again, but I would probably request a room closer to the elevator and ask that it be dusted at some point. "WiFi very poor / breakfast late"
Hotel physically was what you'd expect for a Comfort Inn, but the wifi was horribly slow. Virtually unusable, so if you need that I'd suggest you avoid this location. Also, if the sign says breakfast starts at 6AM (and you're told that by the attendant when you check in) then I would assume it to be ready and available at 6AM, not just starting to be […] set out. Everything wasn't out until close to 6:20. Maybe not the biggest deal but for people (me) trying to get out early and counting on eating at 6 it was an issue. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't ask hotel staff for anything."
There were many problems. All the carpets were stained. There were three chairs in my room, all stained. The room was large, but the bathroom and shower were tiny. There was a definite mold smell in my room. Three different staff members gave me incorrect directions to nearby destinations. One staffer said it was a 10 minute taxi ride to tha arch, and […] it was 20. Staff were gone from the front desk a few times, and the breakfast had a lot of empty items. One elevator was broken. "Cheap attempt at updating"
You can tell they are trying to update the facilities but it came across as cheap. 1) Nice flat screen TV but picture is not HD and it was fuzzy. 2) Nice new refrigerator but it is placed right in front of the full length mirror. 3) Two mirrors outside the bathroom but they were useless because there wasn't proper lighting. 4) Nice new modern sink but […] the water pressure was so high that water would spray all over the sink area. 5) The nice new sink looked bigger, therefore, took up more space and left virtually no space for toiletries. Those were the obvious signs of updating. Other issues were the hallway...very unattractive and dirty. The bathroom was ridiculously small. The towels were kept outside the bath in the closet. On top of that our shower leaked from the ceiling. I reported it and was told maintence would come fix it but that didn't happen. Also, the elevator convenient to our room was out of service. But my biggest complaint was that the air conditioner for the rooms was not working. The hallway was nice and cool. We and several of our neighbors had to prop open our doors to let the cool air in the room. Good things: New shower design was nice (taking the bathtub out and having 1/2 glass and 1/2 curtain) and the complimentary breakfast was satisfying. For what we received this hotel was overpriced.
