The location was great! However, the cleanliness of the room was awful. I had to switch to a different room and when I switched to the second room I couldn't tell which one was worse. For the rate I paid [$150], I was VERY disappointed in the upkeep of the hotel. The night before I stayed at a LaQuinta Inn and paid $79 and was SURPRISINGLY happier with […] my stay at their hotel. The front desk was very nice on a positive note, but not very informative. In the guest information booklet in the rooms it said that breakfast was served until 10am and when I went down at 9:30am they had already cleaned up breakfast. I then saw the sign that said breakfast was only until 9am; this is something the front desk should inform guests when they check in. "Very outdated and dirty hotel"
Upon arrival we had to ask for our room to be cleaned. There was a mass amount of hair all over the room and bathroom, and there were stains on the bed sheets. The walls were terribly marked and the hallway carpet was the most disgusting I have ever seen. The was a wonderful front desk girl who came up to check it out herself and even agreed with me […] about the cleanliness of our room. She did have it cleaned for us while we were gone. The room was fairly clean in general but the bedding looked dirty. There was little to no space in the room so this definitely isn't a place you'd want to stay more than one night. "Cute but shabby"
We picked this hotel for its proximity to all of the fun things we wanted to so on our mini vacation. It's close to the basilica, the zoo, the science center, Washington University, and the Central West End. The decor is cute. It's got a boutique feel to it. The front desk staff were very nice. On the down side: only one working elevator in the whole building. The hall ways are shabby. The entire restroom was super small. There's a great shower head but its almost too big for the shower. The biggest negative for this hotel is its housekeeping. The obvious things were clean, the toilet, sink, floors, etc. But if you look any further you can tell its been a while since anyone has done a deep clean. There's dust on the mirrors, smudges on the walls, etc. All in all I would definitely stay here again, but I would probably request a room closer to the elevator and ask that it be dusted at some point. "Cheap attempt at updating"
You can tell they are trying to update the facilities but it came across as cheap. 1) Nice flat screen TV but picture is not HD and it was fuzzy. 2) Nice new refrigerator but it is placed right in front of the full length mirror. 3) Two mirrors outside the bathroom but they were useless because there wasn't proper lighting. 4) Nice new modern sink but […] the water pressure was so high that water would spray all over the sink area. 5) The nice new sink looked bigger, therefore, took up more space and left virtually no space for toiletries. Those were the obvious signs of updating. Other issues were the hallway...very unattractive and dirty. The bathroom was ridiculously small. The towels were kept outside the bath in the closet. On top of that our shower leaked from the ceiling. I reported it and was told maintence would come fix it but that didn't happen. Also, the elevator convenient to our room was out of service. But my biggest complaint was that the air conditioner for the rooms was not working. The hallway was nice and cool. We and several of our neighbors had to prop open our doors to let the cool air in the room. Good things: New shower design was nice (taking the bathtub out and having 1/2 glass and 1/2 curtain) and the complimentary breakfast was satisfying. For what we received this hotel was overpriced. "Go somewhere else...(unless you like gagging)"
Actually, the room at first glance seems rather nice for the money (especially the wall paint, the furniture, the flooring, etc) and the location is excellent. But, there was an unbelievably horrible smell to the room and hallway (maybe mildew?) and the air conditioning and hallway noise (due to either thin walls or wide space under door) makes for […] a very unpleasant night. I ordinarily sleep very well, but the a/c woke me up every time it shut off with a very obnoxious clanking noise (like a car door being slammed shut). When I went downstairs to complain, four others were there as well with issues about odors and the complete unavailability of parking. The staff told people to park a couple blocks away and offered to put a machine in my room to clear up the horrid smell if I evacuated the room for 30 minutes. Since my child was sleeping and I doubted anything could get rid of a smell that was throughout the hotel, I declined. I think it says a lot about the number of complaints the staff gets that not once when I was checking out did any worker ask any customer how they enjoyed their stay.
