Trident, Cochin - Kochi

I was looking for 5* accommodations for a trip over New Years (3 nights), but the only availability was for this property. Rated at 4.5 stars is not honest. This is more like a 3 star property with a restaurant. I was expecting a more upscale experience, because Trident is an Oberoi property. We had 3 rooms for our party. One of the rooms must have […] been on top of the generator, because it smelled of diesel fuel. The other room was booked as non-smoking, but they gave me a smoking room - even after requesting all non-smoking rooms upon check in. Location on the island is not the best, but it is close to the Taj Vivanta - which is where I will stay next time. Restaurant has average food, but plays muzak way too loud. The pool-side dining experience looks more like a BBQ by the pool. I did not sample the food, so cannot comment on the food. Ayurvedic spa only has 2 tables, and was not able to accomodate our entire party during the stay. Feedback was "ok" for the treatment - not what you want when you go the center of Ayurvedic healing. The hotel is on Willingdon Island and within easy walk/auto ride to the Willingdon Island ferry station to Fort Kochi, which is where most of the action is. It's not close to any beach and in a quiter part of town. The hotel staff is very courteous and helpful. The swimming pool is fairly decent.

I went to Cochin on vacation with my family, and the best part was the hotel. I was blown away by the services I received! I could not believe what the staff did to help me. My three young child had a total melt-down (from jetlags) at the pool. One woman came over to help me gather the kids and belonging to our room. I refused because I didn't expect […] it. Anyway, I brought the kids to the room and gave them a quick bath. After they fell asleep, I went to the pool area to gather our stuff. Near the top of the steps of our floor, a staff member came up to me and gave me my cellphone because he considered it very valuable. I then proceeded to gather my things. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere. There is nothing around the hotel which means you are more or less held captive to their incredibly expensive services. Food in the restaurant is mediocre, wireless is $5/hr and I paid $50 for a small amount of laundry. I will never return to this hotel. Staff is excellent.

It doesn't look like much when you're driving up to the hotel - its in more of an industrial type area so appears a bit isolated although it doesn't take too long to get to Fort Cochin. We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay at Trident Kochi. The friendly staff ensured our needs were met and provided all the support necessary since we were travelling with our year and half old daughter. Located 20 mins away from Fort Kochi the hotel provides a good experience from the restaurant to the in-house spa.

The hotel staff were incredibly helpful throughout our stay here. It is also close to Fort Cochin where most of the main attractions are. Food is delicious and prepared with love. Ayurveda centre is also worth every rupee.

I had a very short stay for one night at this Hotel. A couple of points if considered, the stay will be very nice. First is that there is no free Internet in the room, being a business trip, it is essential to have a free access of inetrnet. Further, there is no Jet sprey in the bathroo. We (2 adults, 2 children - 12 and 13) stayed at the Trident for 3 nights before joining a tour of Kerala and Tamil Nadu ...it was one of my better decisions. Great hotel, great pool, nice food and lovely staff. We all loved it. It may be less convenient in terms of location but we used the ferry or just took Tuk-Tuks to town and back...a wonderful experience […] in its own right and a highlight for my boys. This was a great way to relax before a hectic tour and we sorted out jetlag and the shock of the heat very happily indeed. I thought it was great value and although the food was expensive by Indian standards, we were very happy with it and even my non spice liking 13 yr old could find food he enjoyed both from the menu and the evening buffet. The Spa was very good too - best treatment I had in India but also the most expensive! If you are confident about using local transport then I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. L'hôtel est parfait et le service de qualité. La chambre, la piscine et les differents lieux dans l'hôtel sont splendides. C'est un lieu qui permet de bien se reposer après un voyage errintant. Par contre, les environs de l'hôtel ne sont pas interressant et Wellington Island n'est pas l'île où il faille s'attarder.
