One complaint; left a wake up call for Fri, Feb 08 and employee called 40 mins late. i bought an alarm clock because I was concerned we would have a similar problem on day of departure. Wake up call was on time that day.

Nothing to complain about with the hotel- fantastic location, we walked everywhere- restuarants, pubs, the sights, the temple bar. Quiet enough to get a good nights sleep, too. A little worn, but also felt like great value for the price. I would stay here again.

There were stains and burns on the floor of our room. The bathroom ceiling was covered in mold. It took 15 minutes for the lights in the bathroom to get light enough to see. However, the room was large and the staff were friendly.

We enjoyed our stay. The bathrooms and carpets weren't as clean as we would have liked. The building is very old and perhaps could have been a contributing factor. Other than that we liked it. Staff was really nice and helpful.

This hotel does not deserve to be called a four star hotel. Our hotel had a seriously lumpy bed, ugly view, no room service, no refrigerator, no bath robes and no wash cloths. The staff needs to smile more.

On the whole, we enjoyed our stay at the O'Callaghan Alexander very much. It was convenient to the city center and we walked almost everywhere. It was close to pubs, coffee shops, museums, parks etc. I have a few complaints. My first is that the mattress was too soft. My husband and I decided to celebrate my birthday in Dublin. Neither of us have ever been to Europe. We usually travel to the tropics or west coast for fun, so we decided to try something new. The front desk staff was unpredictable. They were all nice enough, but none were overly friendly or helpful. More like they did their job and nothing above or beyond. However, the bartender at night, Anthony, was an absolute joy! He was probably one of the best parts of the trip. He was one of the true Irishmen who worked at the hotel and came with the charming brogue and classic Irish attitude. the hotel was very clean and we appreciated the complimentary newspaper available in the lobby. we were awakened on time and a cab arrived several minutes early, a plus. the staff were efficient, but don't expect warmth.

It is a good hotel but not a real bargain. There is nothing really wrong with the hotel, just nothing especially memorable to make it stand out. Weekend rates are over inflated for the value delivered. It is a clean comfortable place to stay, Very close to national museums, Trinity College, Grafton street, St. Stephens Greene, etc...

As you would expect from a 4 star hotel the O'Callaghan Alexander was very clean and tidy. The decor was also very nice. Our hotel room had a good view of Dublin and the bed was a great size and very comfortable. My son and I stayed at the O'Callaghan Alexander for six nights in May to 2010. The hotel is very decent. The staff was courteous and helpful at all times. Just off the lobby are a bar and restaurant. They serve a buffet style Irish breakfast every day starting at 7:00 and food off the menu the rest of the day. The neighborhood is generally quiet […] except for a very popular pub (The Ginger Man) very near the front door. It is well located if you want to be near Trinity College, Merrion Square and/or St.Stephen's Green. This area appears to be the heart of modern Dublin and many buses run through it at the west end of Trinity Campus (the hotel is east of campus). Pearse Street train station is a short walk away and Heuston station can be reached fairly quickly via bus. Internet was around 12 Euros per night. They offered us 8 Euros since we were staying so many days. Wireless was problematic, but worked about half the time. We downloaded a little wireless survey tool on my son's MacBook Pro and it appears to me the problem is due to overlapping WAPs on the same channel. a wireless no-no. They have wired connections in the room, but that wouldn't help me with my iPad...fortunately I had 3G as well, but international 3G is VERY expensive. Hot water is dangerously hot. I think you could cook eggs with it...literally...be careful. The hot water faucet gets too hot to touch at the base. Overall, I would definitely stay there again under similar circumstances. On arrival on Friday evening the receptionist said that the room was not pre paid but it was booked on na web site weeeks beforehand so that was a bit worrying, The male receptionist on the Saturday evening come over as quite abrupt when we asked him a question on the internet and at the end of the day he didn't know the answer, the room was clean but […] round someone elses finger nail clipping on the dressing tabl! So if u keep coming and leaving, u actually pay more than 10 euros in a day! We checked in about 3pm in the afternoon and our meal in town was at 4. On our return at 11pm we had no heating in our room. We sat in our coats and we were allocated another room, but it was smoking. On our arrival in this room we still had no heating. At 12.20am we were allocated a twin room with heating, and again this was a smoking room. While the […] following morning the management were extremely apologetic it had spoiled the stay for us. We were told by night management that they assumed that the heating was working in all rooms. From my perspective assumptions are not good enough.
