We were very disappointed with breakfast. Only offered orange juice, coffee, bread for toast, muffins & croissants. No fruit or cereal or milk. The carpet in the lobby was very worn, but clean. Dear Hotel.com management_I was most embarassed to have brought my husband at The Governor Hotel recently, since I am Canadian born. The minute we walk in the lobby the rug was "FILTHY DIRTY", and the one in our room as well... If we woun't have made reservations with Hotel.com we would have left and found another hotel for sure! The place is pretty run down. It is a hotel for an overnight stay on the way to your destination only. Do not stay here for more than a night. We were given a smoking room when we requested non-smoking and the room was disgusting. Beside the obvious smell of smoke, the room was really dirty. I wouldnt even let a dog sit on the filthy chair in there. […] We did manage to switch our room to non-smoking and it was a better room and cleaner. The fitness room is one broken eliptical, a treadmill and a bike in an old room in the smoking sectiOn of the hotel. Breakfast was okay, but the toaster and toaster oven are sooo dirty that i would not toast anything in there. The pool was not bad, but many of the tables and umbrellas were broken. Hotel must have being nice in 1960. Furniture was too old, lighting fixtures, carpets too old and dirty especially on the hallways. Spider nets in outside of windows, hotel damage on the outside. The hotel is nice and has a very good location. It is very easy to arrive to Montreal and the place is nice y quiet. The person who receive us in Reception didn't know tell us very good for a visit to the city. The cleaning service knocked on our door before 8 a.m. waked us up, but we didn't ask it.

No doubt, it's time for an overall renovation for the hotel, to make it looking younger! Nevertheless, the administration were maintaining a decent level of a nice looking ambiance, reinforced by a super kind attitude from the receptionists and the personnel. The hotel is in the heart of a preseved regional park, on an island, crossed by a highway. […] We spent 6 quiet days, without any problem. Given that the hotel is backed by the woods, it was so pleasent to stop the car, on our way for dinner, and quietly take pictures of the deers searching for premature green branches! Other guests were sharing us that happy moment in their cars too! I would recommend this hotel for the people that do not insist on the fancy facets of hospitality, but rather on the human warmth of receiving guests and the total comfort without too much bling bling! After all, we're receiving the newspapers and the continental breakfast daily. If this space is dedicated to mention the bright and the dark face of the place, I should advise the other travellers to have or rent a car during their stay, or call for a taxi for their trips. This hotel is the only thing off of exit 1 - you have to get back on the highway to do anything at all. It is a dark, drab hotel that looks like it's hayday was about 20 years ago. It wasn't "dirty" for say, but it just felt old, and the room had a weird slightly musty smell. The pillows were very thick, and hard as rocks. The most uncomfortable things […] I've ever seen. They fail to mention that the included continental breakfast is really just coupons for a nearby restaurant. It is NOT onsite. You have to get back on the highway and go a few kliks away. Don't believe the earlier bad reviews - it is worse! This hotel should be shut down - or completely renovated ... and at least 2 of the 3 stars taken away for the time being! Only pros - at least clean sheets and a clean bathroom. Everything else was old, smelly and filthy.

Situated in a dead area. Hotel has nothing to offer except room for sleep. Breakfast only has croison muphin, bread, orange juce, coffe and tea but all would be gone quickly if coming down after 8:00am.

Hotel is in a unique location on an island parkland and the only business there. Easy freeway access and ample parking. Plumbing maintenance is poor, but clean rooms. Grounds are open, but kept up. Pool and play area for children. There is a continental breakfast, but nearest restaurant are several miles away.

My boyfriend and I stayed here one night to break up a long drive. The only real problem we ran into was using the given address in our GPS. If you type in only "2405 Ile Charron" it will not bring you there. You must type in "2405 Rue de l"Ile Charron". Once we finally got the hotel, we found it nice. Very comfortable bed - high class BUT AWFUL PILLOWS.- hard non flexible , you wake up with a sorrow neck or even broken neck. Morning breakfast: poor service - to be improved and put in charge somebody who can welcome people.....and help people... Outside - grounds to be cleaned, grass mowed etc...... Wonderful location.

This hotel is pretty far from downtown Montreal but it looks like it was originally intended to be a high-end hotel. The location probably contributed to keeping this from becoming a reality. Nice and quiet location on the island, 15 mins to old town approx. Kind and polite hotel crew. But no any cafe/store to buy to eat at all ( in walking distance). Breakfast included was fine though. Old furniture, small room and very-very noisy conditioner. Not possible to open the window. So be ready of missing fresh air.

This hotel did what we needed it to do. It was a clean place to stay while we attended the 2011 Montreal Jazz Festival. It had nothing to offer beyond that. Hotels.com said that breakfast was included in the price of the room. It was not. The hotel wanted just under seven dollars Canadian for a continental breakfast. You can go to Tim Horton's for less […] ... if you can find one. The hotel is not near anything but a national park, so finding meals is probelmatic. Plus, the construction is wicked around that area ... which is not the fault of the hotel, but contributes to the negative experience. The best thing about this hotel was the housekeeping staff. They were very friendly and helpful. I think this hotel has had it's heyday. There were leaky ceilings and a huge room near the reception desk that was completely gutted. The parking lot had lots of holes in it. I would not recommend this hotel. Read more

This hotel had a weired ambiance. The lobby was empty as were most of the conference rooms. On our first morning they were out of breakfast before we could get something to eat. Staff was friendly and efficient. Room was clean. Free parking is convenient. No public transport available. Car is an absolut must!

This was the poorest hotel in my life. Days inn or Comport inn is way better. No restaurant in hotel and of course no hotel service. Furniture was very old and it almost junk. Surroundinga are very dirty and terrible smells. Most guests were tourist from travel agency. Do not go there.
