"Showing it's age."
Overall the hotel was old but comfortable. We had a non smoking room and believe that the room next to us was a smoking room because we could smell cigarette smoke every once and a while. The walls between the rooms were thin we could here the neighbor coughing and smell his food and cigarettes.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great time, as usual. The only problem I had was not being able to connect to the internet in my room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It appeared that this room had not been occupied in quite a long time, or it was not cleaned very well. There were spider webs (with spiders) in the corners, and a few bugs on the bathroom floor. The overall condition of the room was sad; it is desperately needing a remodel. There were cracks in the drywall, and the tub was discolored. The original […] room description included a mini refrig and microwave, neither of which were provided. The room did not include a coffee maker, either, but the motel did provide one upon request. Finally, the TV cabinet was poorly positioned (in front of the door) and the TV reception was snowy. This will be the last time I stay at this hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice for the price"
Was nice and comfortable for the price. The maid was rude because I was staying an hour later then check out time. I left at 12. Other than that was an overall nice stay with my bf.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wasn't really kept. The beds were absolutely comfortable but service was umresponsive, the housekeeping's idea of cleaning was just fixing the covers, not even taking out the trash. And they need to update their TVs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Still kicking but has seen better days"
Stayed here during a ski trip to taos more than a decade ago and had pleasant memories. Hotel hasn't changed much, which isn't good after all this time. Still felt comfortable but the fact that wee beasties could fit under the door, paint was peeling, tub very slow to drain gave negative marks to an otherwise nice room. Comfortable bed, well decorated, […] GREAT (although small) breakfast. I'd stay here again, but hope for some basic remodeling. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Tired, pleasent, but great location"
"Classic" means tired. But the location is great and the people are nice. Architecture quite interesting. If you are on a tight budget and like to walk to see the center of Taos, this is the place for you. If you want sparkling luxury, go somewhere else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff were very helpful and flexible in accommodating our group of international guests had flight problems and arrived late, requiring use to change our reservations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Kachina Lodge is a wonderful place of Taos charm. Renovations need to be made but it is a great place to stay. Great breakfast with stay. We'd do it again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Adobe motel for good value"
Liked the motel, old style for Taos. Room was dated and furnishings too old. Good breaffast and loved the coffee shop. Recomemnd.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"THUNDER BROTHERS ROAD TRIP"
On a Harley Motorcycle Road Trip we were pleasantly surprised by the nice condition of the rooms, and that the staff made a conscious effort to assign us rooms at an end cap where our noise would least offend other guests. That was great. We stayed 2 days. My only suggestion would be that a refrigerator and microwave be placed in the rooms that we stayed […] in and that the TV's should be upgraded to flat screens. I would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great basic room, PERFECT location!"
I took a two-day solo birding vacation to Taos and I needed a basic, cheap room. This place was perfect! It is an older, basic lodge but it served its purpose. The king bed was comfy, the TV worked, the heater was very slow but worked, the lighting was dim but fine, and it seemed safe and secure. The lodge staff was awesome! The location is SO convenient! […] I walked everywhere and it was awesome. It's right next to a great restaurant and a park. I will DEFINITELY be staying here again!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Outdoor pool closed, no indoor spa started yet..."
Our concierge informed us the pool was closed as of that morning (had traveled all morning specifically to get to the hotel to relax at pool and spa and nice dinner). THen he informed us that the indoor spa wasn't open up yet. Checked back later for area map and recommendations on restaurants...told us their outdoor fire pit area was having a native […] dance show (Pow-Wow later on). Rushed out to dinner and raced back to hotel only to find that the performance had been canceled as well. A real disappointment all the way around. Our free continental breakfast was in their 'restaurant' where we were offered several choices and it was dine in style only- had to wait quite a bit of time in the morning before we could get out site seeing because they only had 1 waitress on and it took a while to get our orders, let alone wait for the food. Once arrived, the food was decent, but nothing exceptional there either. I would not go back here. Also, while awaiting our turn at the desk for an area map, the concierge misunderstood 2 separate clients and screwed up their rooms, telling the first lady that she had booked 2 nights (on an internet site which she had not- in fact she had contacted the hotel directly to ensure they had handicap services for her mother). Then, the next couple checked in and I heard the desk clerk state- oh no- can you go get that lady that just went out to the parking lot, I mixed up the reservations. Not impressed. The hotel rooms were fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Shabby, and not shabby chic"
Our room was very shabby, horrid, grimy red carpet, walls around toilet in bad need of washing. Overall the grounds where in much need of maintenance. Hot cooked to order breakfast was the redeeming item.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Take your chance with this one (don't expect much)"
Staff (especially waitresses in coffee shop) were rude and short-tempered. Had to wait over 6 hours for room to be cleaned once notified front desk that it had not be done (Apparently, cleaning staff all called in sick...???). Even then, only clean towels were provided. No hair conditioner in despenser in shower. Hot tub was broken. Cabinet in bathroom […] broken and left open. Breakfast choices were minimal in choices and the amount of food provided. Floor in room was stained and smelled funny. Good location but police patrolled property several times a day (past problems?). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Old and in need of repair"
Toilet was dirty in bathroom. Other than that, the motel was fine. Liked all the trees and the grassy area and the hot breakfast. It's close to the Pueblo and that was nice, too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall, a very nice stay. reasonably priced. I would stay at La Kachina again. It is not the top of the line hotel but it is clean, good service, great location, comfortable and the breakfast was very tasty. You know you are in Taos when you stay at La Kachina....the motif is well fitted for this area. Recommend: consider adding coffee provisions in […] the rooms as well as more bath towels. "not enough maids?"
Not enough maids. Can not have rooms ready in time..was fine with me. Got a a free upgrade. The bar has been closed since july of 2013. And the restaurant is understaffed but the food is good anyway. Restaurant is pretty much closed except to guest. Still I would go there again. Nice location!!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Southwest Hotel Museum...."
Hotel is in a nice area close to the plaza right next to the Taos Pueblo entrance we loved this hotel for the southwest decorations and artifacts, great price, great people, good free breakfast and location, definitely we would go back there while in Taos, only setback was that if someone smokes the smell comes to your room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Kachina Lodge-Old Style"
room decor worn and on the dingy side. AC didn't work well and had to leave a window open. We did not try the free breakfast. Since we planned to drive the Enchanted Circle, being at the north end of Taos made for an easy drive the next morning. Just be aware that traffic in Taos is really bad and getting down to the plaza was "interesting."Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"WORST STAY EVER!!!"
(1) walk into the room - killed -6- spiders in the corners of the room. (2) Killed -4- moths flying around when we turned the lights on (3) NO heat in the room, was told by the front desk - that the hotel had not turned on the boilers to the rooms, so there was NO heat. The temperature for that night went down to 21 degree and around 4 am it was 32 […] in the freezing room. (4) will never stay at this hotel EVER!! (5) it was to late to be moved to another hotel in the city, all hotels were all booked. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very tired rooms, bad plumbing, dirty floors, soil linens left in hallways for days, pigeon droppings all over balcony not cleaned up. Needs thorough overhaul and money investment to restore.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Needs more remodeling"
Retro but not in a good way. Bathroom very dated as were furnishings in room. Very uncomfortable bed. We wanted to soak in the hot tub and it was closed "for the summer." We saw some rooms are in the process of being remodeled so hope all the rooms will be redone soon.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The place was okay at best. The rooms need a lot of cleaning and updating. It's another case of "you get what you pay for". I wish I had read some other reviews before I booked the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Visit to Taos"
This motel is old and outdated. The room does not have any amenities such as in-room coffee, micro, frig, decent tv and cable. Very small. In addition, we went out to breakfast and came back to find the maid cleaning our room well before the checkout time. She had taken my wife's purse and some other stuff to the front desk. WE love this motel! It is so convenient and within easy walking distance of Taos. The facility is beautiful and the owners appear to be giving it the tender loving care it needs. The made to order breakfast was a treat and the Indian dances just a high light of our trip. I have been to Taos 3 times and stayed here twice. I will always request this […] hotel! "Aging Dowager Needs Facelift"
This is a long-lived property where I have stayed several times over the years. The decor dates from the Route 66 era and the pool and grounds are lovely (although the hot tub was not working during our stay). Unfortunately, while our room was clean, it was pretty spartan and had seen plenty of use. It also lacked many of the in-room amenities one expects […] even in more modest properties (e.g., larger screen TV, coffee maker, fridge, microwave, extra blanket). On the other hand, it was an easy walk to the Plaza with a lot of interesting shops and restaurants along the way. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Nice stay, the indian dance was nice but if they want better cash donations give more notice or even a website would help their cause.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fun place for a reasonable price"
We really liked this kitsch 1960's era high end motel, now a glimpse of "Indian" mid-century style. The architecture is so fun, with squash blossom chandeliers, and the "kiva" restaurant featuring Haida/Salish totems from the Pacific Northwest in this otherwise Puebloan resort. The free breakfasts, though small, were tasty—the Spanish omelet with green […] chile was a great way to start the day. The native American dancers who entertained us came from Taos Pueblo and were the real thing. They do ask for a $10 fee if you use your camera/video recorder. If I had known beforehand that they "passed the hat" I would have had more money in my pocket to support this talented family of dancers. Internet could be faster, but maybe that's part of the ambiance. This is not our first visit and it will not be our last. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is on the very outskirts of Taos. It is probably more than ready for an update but all in all it was okay. The breakfast consisted of 5 menu items from which you could choose. These were served to us and were very good, but for those used to serving themselves from a typical breakfast buffet it might prove frustrating. The dining room had […] an artsy feel and the lobby was lined with artwork. The room was pretty dark but the bed was comfy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old, but clean - NO HOT TUB"
I would've rated this hotel overall and quality of service higher if they'd been a) honest about the hot tub, or b) tried to make it right when their hot tub was "seasonal". Apparently when they say hot tub on site, they don't think it's important to mention it's only open in October. We were told "but the pool is heated"....not what you want to hear […] when you just rode 400 miles on a motorcycle, the last 100 of which all you could think about was relief in a hot tub. "Hotel pictures are very misleading"
Getting to our room was a good picture of what the room was going to be like. Trash had not been picked up from the hallway. Carpet in room was stained. There was bird poop on the balcony so we could not sit or look out from there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It was OK, but due for a facelift."
The price was not cheap but acceptable for a single guy on a motorcycle trip. The room needed refurbished: lamp switches work poorly, shower head was full of lime from hard water, wash basin faucet aerator was damaged due to lime from hard water, corners show effects of wear and unthorough cleaning, failing concrete on sidewalks, driveways and parking […] areas asphalt in disrepair. The most annoying thing was the motel guidebook in the room was very out of date. TV listings were no good, there is no dining room open daily, breakfast starts at 7:00 not 6:30. The bed was comfortable, the carpet looked reasonably clean, the linens and towels were clean, soft and not worn. The motel is comprised of several buildings. My room was out of the way and was nice and quiet. The motel is a short walk to the Taos Plaza, shopping and some restaurants. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
