"Bring your own towels!"
The pool was clean, warm and big. The Native American dancers were entertaining and friendly. However, we were denied towels for the pool and and extra washcloths or any other types of towels during our stay. Apparently a common occurrence at the Kachina Lodge.Genuine Expedia guest review
We enjoyed it very much, especially the Navajo Dance show.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I stayed in this hotel many years ago, and enjoyed the experience. This time we were not very happy. Here's why: 1. We requested a microwave and didn't get it until the next day. 2. The door stuck and the housekeeper said we had to almost bust in every time we wanted to go into our room. 3. There was only one person working in the kitchen. We never […] ate breakfast there because it took too long to get anyone to wait on us. 4. We went to the hot tub and the bubbles didn't work. 5. We were told the cafe was closed indefinitely. 6. The batteries in the remote control were dead and we asked for new ones, and never received them. 7. The carpet was dirty and stained. 8. The bed was uncomfortable, we woke up with back pain. We left early because it was so bad. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, good location, so so facilities"
The location is lovely. It's on the edge of town, but still close enough for walking. The setting is lovely. Breakfast is lousy. Bring your own change for the laundry.Genuine Expedia guest review
The bathtub looked as though it had not been cleaned in months. The towels were stained and full of holes. A florescent bulb hanging from the ceiling. The breakfast was terrible.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfy and fun"
My daughter and I stayed at the Kachina Lodge with her son (13) and his cousind (12.) The boys enjoyed the pool immensely and we all enjoyed the comfort of the beds! I loved the pillows!Genuine Expedia guest review
"The end of an era?"
Back in it's day, this hotel was probably "THE" place to stay. You can still see the much of the original charm. Time has taken it's toll to some extent but if I'm ever in Taos in the near future, I'd stay here without a second thought. Free breakfast buffet, Indian dance in the evening around the fire ring, and a great opportunity to see what lodging […] was really like. I recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is older, but still clean and is in a great location for walking to the Plaza.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Never Ever Ever Again!"
First of all check in time was at 3 pm. We got to the Motel about 3:15 and the room was not ready, so she said to give her at least 5 minutes. So we waited 30 minutes! So we decided to run down to the store came back an hour later and the room was still not ready. When the room was ready it was after 5pm!!!! So by the time we got to the room and called […] Expedia we were tired, we got to the room and it smelled like Lysol or something! Half of the vent in the bathroom no actually all of the vent on the heater was missing, when the smell of lysol finally wore out I went to open the window to find MOLD in it, the window didnt lock the texture in the window was missing! The ceiling must have leaked at one time and their were water stains on the ceiling and where they did patch the ceiling it was very poor work!! Ughhh! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A disappointment- Needs updating badly"
There was no TP in the room; asked the housekeeper but she said there was none. I finally tracked some down from another housekeeper. Toilets in the main lobby area were clogged. Hotel has great potential to be a great facility, but needs remodeling throughout.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is located within walking distance of downtown Taos. The room is basic, and it is nothing fancy. But we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was wonderful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel in walking distance to plaza"
This hotel is not too expensive and in walking distance to Taos Plaza - we had all we need, the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was clean and they are working to improve things.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A retro lodge that was interesting."
I was surprised the Kachina Loge was no longer a Best Western. According to Expedia it was, but the desk clerk said they disassociated from Best Western a yr. ago. I liked the New Mexico style furniture, the adobe style building The nightly Pueblo dancers gave us a taste of the locate culture. It was informative as well as entertaining. The guest laundry […] had no detergents or dryer sheets available. We were awakened in the middle of the night by a call from the front desk saying they had a complaint of a barking dog in our room. We didn't have a dog & I didn't hear a single bark inside or outside in the next hour as I tried to go back to sleep. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A Good Stay"
The management was helpful and friendly. The place is worn but clean. The bar and dining room are now closed, but the breakfast buffet was good. Dancers from the Pueblo perform every night, weather permitting, and it is nice to sit outside in the circle on the well-maintained grounds to see them entertain. The place has seen its hey-day, but I felt […] the value was good. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
great location but front desk was iffy and definately needs more outside maintenance. room was very comfortable and breakfast was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old, dark and hair on the floor"
Hotel was very dark and creepy. Multiple pieces of hair noticed on bathroom floor in corner as well as in bath tub. Hallways were very dark and erie. Room was outdated, chipped paint and older television which remote control did not work. Sheets were at least clean and was quiet. Was not worth $65.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old and dingy"
Staff was pleasant, breakfast was very good. Room 135 was dirty, old and dingy, room was malodorous. Bathroom blinds didn't work, toilet seat on the floor and visible mold. The lobby area and breakfast area were okay. Overall this could be a nice place to stay if the hotel is given an complete renovation!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great but needs updating"
You can tell this used to be a too shelf hotel, but it's starting to look a little dated. Great staff, very clean, nice pool and hot tub, hot breakfast, and they have Indian tribal dances in the courtyard in the evenings. We'd stay again, but hope they'll do some updates to freshen up their look.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel in need of remodeling"
The location is great, but the hotel is getting old and is in need of remodeling. Hotel was great years ago, hope they get it remodeled soon.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay at the Kachina Lodge was great. The hotel is a bit old but charming and clean and the beds were surprisingly super comfortable!! The location was perfect and is within walking distance to the Taos Plaza. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Taos.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was clean and quiet. Just a little old. The nightly Kachina dance outside, by Indians from Old Pueblo, was very good and interesting! This hotel is walking distance to Kit Carson Park and home/museum, galleries and restaurants. Great!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice and cozy."
Friendly staff. Close to Plaza. Dancers interesting.Genuine Expedia guest review
My sister and I had a great time at the hotel. It's an older hotel with lots of charm and great service. We will definately be going back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We got a great deal on the room for two nights. I'm familiar with Taos and know the hotel is dated but it has a certain rustic charm and we were able to park right in front of our room, which is a bonus with an infant. Room charge included a decent breakfast buffet. Room wasn't entirely clean, (hair in bath tube and trash from a previous occupant found […] in room) but the bed was comfy and the pool was awesome. You get what you pay for and in this case, we were satisfied. It's close to the plaza and Michael's Kitchen! ;-D Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Kachina Lodge is in much need of updating but for the price you can't beat it. The service was great, the pool was clean and a perfect temperature, the location is perfect. I thought the bed was comfortable and actually slept great. There were 5 couples and we all enjoyed our stay at the Kachina. We walked to Michael's for breakfast and loved it […] especially the bakery located in the middle. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"unacceptable service in lounge"
After watching the Indian Dance show my friend and I went to the lounge in order to have a drink and a bite to eat. The bar tender/waiter refused to acknowledge us and never came to our table in order to see what our needs were. After 20 minutes of watching him take care of two other tables and a couple at the bar we motioned to him that we wanted service. […] He did come to our table with hesitation and when we asked for a menu he informed us that the kitchen was closed but made NO attempt to inform us prior nor was there any interest in taking a drink order. We left and went else where for dinner. Totally unacceptable. This sorted behavior does not set for good business when an establishment has an employee who is not treating paying customers equally. "Walking distance tothe Plaza"
This was a great place for our two nights in Taos. It was in walking distance to the Plaza and good restaurants. The pool was a nice break and the reason we decided to stay an extra night in Taos on our SW road-trip. The SW breakfast burrito was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The gal at the front desk was not that friendly nor was the maintenance man. The lady in the coffee shop was SUPERIOR! GREAT customer service!! We think the overall condition of the hotel needs an update. We were expecting a microwave & fridge in the room was a little disappointed by that.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very unsatisfied, will not recommend and will not stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good forty years ago"
Good value but very poor room RCVD for Doing an online booking. We expected better than being placed in an unmaintained area. On site Indian dances were a bonus.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Back to the past"
By the pictures on hotel.com, it seemed the place was more updated. It felt like the 60's when we walked into the room. Also the a/c was not working right.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Flashback to 50s with modern convenience"
Great location within great city. Only draw back was broken hot tub and a pool that was closed. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Décor in dining room was a flashback to the 50s.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"kitchy in a good way"
OK, the rooms are dated, but they are from another time. A time when families enjoyed a room that put a pause in the long, hot car ride. They are clean, and the beds are comfortable. The best part of our stay was the great service. Very down-to-earth people.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Towels and sheets were thin but clean, carpet was old and soiled.Breakfast was cold but good.Staff was great, location was good,(close to everything). Overall I got more than I paid for, I was very happy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"long in the tooth"
The room smelled moldy, and the included breakfast was very late in being prepared, and it was cold. The hotel complex could be very nice, but is old and in need of remodelling. creepy. Sound travels between the rooms and I had to call the front desk at 2 a.m. to ask that those in the room next to me be quiet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value as it was off season rate"

"Beautiful grounds, park-like, quiet surroundings,"
I was very comfortable in the hotel and only regretted not to have more days to be there. My dining experience was superb. Very nice breakfast service. Front desk was training a new employee so check in was a little slow. Hotel is dated and needs updates - hallways were dirty, carpet walls ect. but it served it's purpose for our stay and the rate was right for the area. Hot tub had a larger dirt ring around the top and the pool was still covered. Pigeons were roosted in […] the eves right outside the hotel room. "OK hotel great breakfast"
The breakfast was amazing, the hotel is lovely but the neighborhood is a little sketchy at best. That could have just been a bad night on a weekend, the second night was much quieter, however the staff was lovely and […] the hotel is nice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Used to be a beautiful property now it's out of date and rooms are dirty.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were here during off season. Staff was friendly, but they were unable to provide what they had in the past. They did not have eating places and we were forced to go elsewhere. The morning breakfast was wonderful. Soaps were not provided, they were empty. It was a place to sleep and that was all.Genuine Expedia guest review
For an older motel it was VERY nice. Staff was helpful and offered suggestions on places to eat/drink that were wonderful. Hottest hot tub I have ever been in. I will stay there again next time I am in Taos.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location for sight seeing and casino"
Overall pleasant but not the best weekend for hotel management. They had to escort an unruly guest from the dining room and some one crashed into the hot tub in the middle of the night. Must have been a full moon.Genuine Expedia guest review
I expected the pool opened even when I would not use it and more options for breakfast but what you get for the price you pay is rally fair.and I would be there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to the area we wanted to explore"
outdoor patio by swimming pool needs maintenance, interior lobby very nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The lock to the hall was duct taped onto the door!! There was no remote for the TV and picture quality was awful. The hot tub was broken. The grounds were trashy & the buildings were crumbling. The walls in our section were paper thin. On the good side, the bed & pillows were comfy. Glad we only had to stay one night.Genuine Expedia guest review
The only issue I could think of was that my room was not fully cleaned when I arrived. The hot tub, breakfast and everything else was wonderful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
