"WORST STAY EVER!!!"
(1) walk into the room - killed -6- spiders in the corners of the room. (2) Killed -4- moths flying around when we turned the lights on (3) NO heat in the room, was told by the front desk - that the hotel had not turned on the boilers to the rooms, so there was NO heat. The temperature for that night went down to 21 degree and around 4 am it was 32 […] in the freezing room. (4) will never stay at this hotel EVER!! (5) it was to late to be moved to another hotel in the city, all hotels were all booked. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very tired rooms, bad plumbing, dirty floors, soil linens left in hallways for days, pigeon droppings all over balcony not cleaned up. Needs thorough overhaul and money investment to restore.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
As always had a great stay. Stayed on extra day to get a lot of work day, it is such a comfortable, peaceful place. Only problem is their internet. it is the worst I've ever seen.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needs more remodeling"
Retro but not in a good way. Bathroom very dated as were furnishings in room. Very uncomfortable bed. We wanted to soak in the hot tub and it was closed "for the summer." We saw some rooms are in the process of being remodeled so hope all the rooms will be redone soon.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the best but it works"
I had stayed at the Kachina Lodge before, I think two or three times. While it's not the most up-to-date motel, it works but may not be for the person who likes perfectly clean and pretty. This place is in obvious need of remodeling and upkeep. Here were a few things I noticed about our room: -Ripped lampshade -Large planter outside of room filled with […] trash and cigarettes -Shower itself works well with hot water, but water went all over floor due to thin, loose curtain -a cobweb or two near heater in bathroom However, those things were minor and overall, the room was clean, the tv and internet worked, staff was friendly and right on top of it when we asked for an extra blanket; hairdryer, lotion and soap in bathroom; breakfast was free with room price and wait staff was excellent and friendly. It's also close to just about anything you want to do in downtown Taos and also close to the Pueblo. If you don't want to worry about people upstairs waking you up, make sure to request the second floor. While it's not the fanciest place in Taos, I would stay here again. The place was okay at best. The rooms need a lot of cleaning and updating. It's another case of "you get what you pay for". I wish I had read some other reviews before I booked the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Visit to Taos"
This motel is old and outdated. The room does not have any amenities such as in-room coffee, micro, frig, decent tv and cable. Very small. In addition, we went out to breakfast and came back to find the maid cleaning our room well before the checkout time. She had taken my wife's purse and some other stuff to the front desk. This in inexcusable and […] on that alone I would never stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
WE love this motel! It is so convenient and within easy walking distance of Taos. The facility is beautiful and the owners appear to be giving it the tender loving care it needs. The made to order breakfast was a treat and the Indian dances just a high light of our trip. I have been to Taos 3 times and stayed here twice. I will always request this […] hotel! "The rooms are somewhat dated, but the décor is nic"
The staff is accommodating, the grounds are relaxing and the location is great. I had problems with the maid service and was provided another room and an upgrade and discount which more than made up for the inconvenience. Training new staff can be a challenge and I was thankful the office staff took care of the problem and made my stay comfortable and […] enjoyable. The rooms are, of course, decorated in the Southwestern style, tactfully. Views from the balconies and porches are relaxing and beautiful. Updated carpeting is called for, but with Taos being an "outdoor experience", I was not in the room enough to really care. Do not expect a 4 star experience, but rather a small town cozy feel and you'll enjoy your stay in the heart of town, yet on the quiet edge. I would stay here again. Staff very friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was not nearly as close to the plaza as they claim. We expected to walk 2 blocks when it was closer to a mile. The nicest part of our stay was the nightly native American dance. We were without water for all but the first hour of our stay. While this was no fault of the hotel (broken water main), absolutely nothing was done to accommodate their […] many guests! Water could have been brought to the room for drinking, washing and most importantly FLUSHING the toilet, the lady at the front desk seemed shocked that we should even ask! For that reason alone I asked for a discount on our room and was given a flat NO! If you choose to stay here, use caution around the landscaping, as someone thought sticker bushes would be a nice touch. I spent a half hour picking them off our clothes and luggage. "Aging Dowager Needs Facelift"
This is a long-lived property where I have stayed several times over the years. The decor dates from the Route 66 era and the pool and grounds are lovely (although the hot tub was not working during our stay). Unfortunately, while our room was clean, it was pretty spartan and had seen plenty of use. It also lacked many of the in-room amenities one expects […] even in more modest properties (e.g., larger screen TV, coffee maker, fridge, microwave, extra blanket). On the other hand, it was an easy walk to the Plaza with a lot of interesting shops and restaurants along the way. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Fun place for a reasonable price"
We really liked this kitsch 1960's era high end motel, now a glimpse of "Indian" mid-century style. The architecture is so fun, with squash blossom chandeliers, and the "kiva" restaurant featuring Haida/Salish totems from the Pacific Northwest in this otherwise Puebloan resort. The free breakfasts, though small, were tasty—the Spanish omelet with green […] chile was a great way to start the day. The native American dancers who entertained us came from Taos Pueblo and were the real thing. They do ask for a $10 fee if you use your camera/video recorder. If I had known beforehand that they "passed the hat" I would have had more money in my pocket to support this talented family of dancers. Internet could be faster, but maybe that's part of the ambiance. This is not our first visit and it will not be our last. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is on the very outskirts of Taos. It is probably more than ready for an update but all in all it was okay. The breakfast consisted of 5 menu items from which you could choose. These were served to us and were very good, but for those used to serving themselves from a typical breakfast buffet it might prove frustrating. The dining room had […] an artsy feel and the lobby was lined with artwork. The room was pretty dark but the bed was comfy. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old, but clean - NO HOT TUB"
I would've rated this hotel overall and quality of service higher if they'd been a) honest about the hot tub, or b) tried to make it right when their hot tub was "seasonal". Apparently when they say hot tub on site, they don't think it's important to mention it's only open in October. We were told "but the pool is heated"....not what you want to hear […] when you just rode 400 miles on a motorcycle, the last 100 of which all you could think about was relief in a hot tub. "Hotel pictures are very misleading"
Getting to our room was a good picture of what the room was going to be like. Trash had not been picked up from the hallway. Carpet in room was stained. There was bird poop on the balcony so we could not sit or look out from there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It was OK, but due for a facelift."
The price was not cheap but acceptable for a single guy on a motorcycle trip. The room needed refurbished: lamp switches work poorly, shower head was full of lime from hard water, wash basin faucet aerator was damaged due to lime from hard water, corners show effects of wear and unthorough cleaning, failing concrete on sidewalks, driveways and parking […] areas asphalt in disrepair. The most annoying thing was the motel guidebook in the room was very out of date. TV listings were no good, there is no dining room open daily, breakfast starts at 7:00 not 6:30. The bed was comfortable, the carpet looked reasonably clean, the linens and towels were clean, soft and not worn. The motel is comprised of several buildings. My room was out of the way and was nice and quiet. The motel is a short walk to the Taos Plaza, shopping and some restaurants. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"close to old town"
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of old Taos and not far from the Taos pueblo. The receptionist was very helpful and was able to have a refrigerator and microwave delivered to our room at no charge. The facilities are run down. There is a Native American dance at the hotel frequently in the evenings (donations accepted). The […] rate was very reasonable compared to other hotel rates. "A Classic Taos Hotel..."
This is an older, but a classic, hotel! The location is excellent, it has a large heated pool, and a hot breakfast is served every morning. You can't beat it for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had the pleasure of staying there last summer & again this summer. A friend of ours stayed at the hotel across the street & altho their rooms are quite nicer (which you only sleep in anyway) she thought the Kacina was way better in the amenities category. Great location with a brew pup right next door; great breakfast, but let's face it the place was built in the 1960's and is very good from an historical perspective; just walk around and marvel at the large meeting rooms. Comfortable, affordable and great location. AWGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Good Location"
The location was perfect for its proximity to Taos Pueblo and points north, and was in walking distance to plaza restaurants and shopping. This hotel may have some small issues, but I have stayed at all the different hotels in Taos over the last 30 years and the Kachina Lodge deserves a higher rating. "Hotel in walking distance to Plaza"
Main building and lobby looked very nice, old, but stylish. We must have been assigned the oldest room, uncomfortable chairs, small fridge on the floor still had food from a previous guest in it. Bathroom was old and needed remodeling. No coffee maker in the room. Free breakfast was to be served, to chose from menu, in the breakfast room. Only one person […] running the fare. It took us 1 1/4 hrs to have a bowl of cereal and toast with coffee. I would not go back to this hotel. Sorry. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Room was disgusting smelled of dog feces. Many stains on carpet. Checked out one day early even though were prepaid two nights. Smell so bad worth loosing $ for one night. Will never stay at Kachina lodge again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This must have been a jewel of a motel back in its day. Wonderful location, but badly in need of updates. Lukewarm water in bath. AC only fair. Carpet needs to be replaced. Excellent breakfast. Overall, a decent value for the money, though. Not much in Taos except top-of-the-line or hum drum....Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't go if you have high expectations"
Staff seem overworked especially in the Kiva restaurant. Front desk doesn't give you a warm welcome and are not helpful. The rooms are dated with old small TV's, low wattage lamps and dark carpets which doesn't engender a warm welcome. Our air conditioner was undersized for the room and had a difficult time keeping it cool. The WIFI service was intermittent […] and slow - to get decent service you have to hang out in the lobby area. The ice maker didn't have ice a couple of times. One the plus side the hotel was quiet and the housekeeping staff did a good job and was very friendly. Free breakfast was a plus. Hotel is 4 blocks from the Plaza - an easy walk. Showers were hot with lots of hot water. The hot tub is closed for the summer months we were told. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
