It was very good and the breakfast was wonderful. My room was clean and comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were promised early-morning coffee in the lobby, but it was never provided. The room, itself, was comfortable, but there was no coffee maker, fridge, or microwave available.. Breakfast ranged between a "2" and a five, depending on whether it was served buffet-style in the meeting room or served-style in the restaurant. Restaurant service was exc […] eptional! "Ok, but has seen better days"
This hotel has seen better days, and not recently. Having said that, it was better than I expected, given other reviews. The room was small but clean and quiet. The WiFi worked. The staff was quite pleasant. The room rate was reasonable. Breakfast was plentiful and cooked there (not microwaved eggs and sausage and that flip-over waffle). The location […] is good, with downtown Taos shops, restaurants and galleries an easy short walk. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Kachina Hotel - very rough avoid"
The Kachina Hotel was sorely disappointing. Although it looks interesting in a kinda retro way on the outside I was hesitant to stay there because of its low rating. I wish I would have given more weight to the rankings and stayed somewhere else. Our room spelled like strong cleaning chemicals, the carpet was badly stained, if not just filthy hard to […] tell in the poorly light room with a light / fan combo that was annoying loud. The paltry toiletries were half used in the small baskets, the towels were frayed, the shower dispenser had the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash mislabeled, the outdated floor heated in the bathroom had had the inner workings been removed but the rusted out cover was still there. The bed was OK and the linens were good - probably the best quality item in the room. The hot-tub was difficult to access, locked room outside and required 3 trips to the front desk before being able to enter. The breakfast buffet was decent, though not to my taste no fruit, yogurt or healthy options, and serving coffee in styrofoam cups is yucky. I reported most of my concerns to the front desk worker and was thanked for bringing the concerns to her attention, but no apologies or offers to compensate were forthcoming. "Used to be nice"
I don't usually complain on things like this, but this hotel is not what it used to be and appears to be very mismanaged. When I checked into my room, it was already occupied, kind of scary. "Kachina Lodge in Taos"
Very pretty place. Many rooms. Breakfast adequate but not ample. May be noisy, depending on your neighbours. Restaurant and cocktail lounge currently not operational; only the coffee shop. Would return there on another occasion.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was ok. The hotel is very run down and seems to becoming a place for homeless people to shelter.Genuine Expedia guest review
"close walk into main square"
have stayed here, before,, good value, north of the main plaza,,, short walk, in my view, you only want to stay north anyway.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to sights."
Had 2 rooms, mine was very good, the hot water was nonexistent in the bath in the roon my daughter and granddaughter shared. The free breakfast was outstanding.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
They were least expensive yet the best Taos charm hotel. Free breakfast that you pick off of a menu not continental.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to main plaza."
The outside of the hotel as well as the grounds could have been better maintained. The corners of the shower appeared moldy. Hotel advertises a lounge and the "lounge is closed indefinitely" is what we were told.Genuine Expedia guest review
We really enjoyed our room and the benefit of having our dog with us. We were close to the old town plaza, and right next door was the Alehouse. The breakfast was very good also the next morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel. would definitely stay there again."
very nice hotel staff, knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast was great in the Kiva restaurant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice budget hotel, awesome breakfast"
This is a nice budget hotel with an amazing made to order hot breakfast. My only complaint is that I could hear people in the next room clear as day (through the adjoining room door).Genuine Expedia guest review
For the money this was a fantastic deal. The room was nice enough, as nice as rooms I've paid double or more for. The bed was a bit on the firm side. I enjoyed walking to town and the park down the street. Everyone was courteous.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed at the Kachina Lodge for two nights. It's on the north edge of town and it's a little walk to downtown, but we didn't mind. The room was adequate. Neighbors were loud the first night, but they were gone the second. Breakfast was awesome! Our waitress, who was the only one working in the cafe besides the cook, was hilarious. They have a menu […] of about 10 items that they cook for you. Yes, cook! None of this buffet-style, make your own waffle stuff. I'm talking delicious Spanish omelettes, fluffy scrambled eggs, or greasy sausage links. Yum. We barely missed out, but during the summer months, they have Native American dancers from the nearby Pueblo every night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good for the price"
We got a pretty good deal on the room rates so can't complain to much. It is within walking and/or driving distance of everything we wanted to do. "All and all, a lovely place to stay!"
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Kachina Lodge! My room was cute and clean, the staff very friendly, breakfast was tasty and freshly cooked, and the location! Wow! "The room was not worth the cost."
Room was extremely hot. The heat could not be controlled with the thermostat. Had to run the air-conditioner!!! Free breakfast was not what we expected. The waitress was nice though. The coffee house was cold during breakfast...so breakfast was cold. It was odd that a lower room rate was offered immediately after initial booking was complete.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best Lodging Value in Taos, NM!"
After using all the affordable and many pricier lodgers since 1980, I pronounce this Taos' Best lodging value today. A great way to experience the indoor/outdoor museum/gallery/exercise/sports/scenery experience of Old (1600's) Taos without breaking the bank! Solidly built, courteously operated, it features traditional architecture with Native American […] themes. Lots of original art in spacious public gallery area. Completing renovation to recover from Taos' loss of natural gas several winters ago. I have stayed there for 30 years without any noise problems. No alcohol sales or noisy lounge inappropriate to children. Convenient moderate walk to historic Taos Plaza square, past microbrewery nextdoor, galleries & cafes, Michael's Kitchen (grade-A), and pricey but unique historic Taos Inn (eat at Doc Martin's Restaurant and enjoy nightly live music). Location north of Plaza avoids most stoplights and and 2-lane traffic congestion for a straight shot north to Taos Pueblo, Casino, Ski Valley, Rio Grande Gorge, and Colorado. Various choices of free hot breakfast till 10:30 in the unique round Kiva Coffee Shop with massive authentic Totem Pole in center. Outdoor pool with year-round hot tub. "Friendly hotel close to the plaza"
The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating they let us check in early and check out late due to our work schedule. The rooms were clean but they were antiquated and the TV worked poorly. The breakfast was decent and the service was good. I wood stay here again but I would not pay much more than $50.00 a night.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very outdated but pretty quiet. The surroundings were beautiful and they offer free breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is an older hotel and the rooms could use an update. The staff was courteous and the free breakfast was good. The room was good for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A well-run, bargain older property"
A cute place, well kept, very nice people, and the included breakfast is legit cafe food (not a lame buffet carb-fest). There were some noises at times from the neighboring rooms and parking area; this is a function of the low price and let's face it, this is an older property. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper, and it's great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not too clean"
The hallway smelled like smoke. At the bottom of the stairs, there was a bunch of trash and a bike in a pile. Only one person was working and she couldn't leave the front desk to get some towels for another guest. It too quite a while to check in because she was on the phone with another guest. "Conveniently located hotel is priced right"
The hotel is well located, within walking distance of the plaza, with plenty of parking. It also included a hot breakfast in the very reasonable room rate. The bed was comfortable and the bathrooms clean. That's the good news. The bad news: the rooms are incredibly dated, in major need of upgrades such as carpet and paint and better TVs. Our room was […] small, dark and even had a musty smell when we first entered. The staff was friendly, especially the waitress in the coffee shop. The reception area of the hotel was much nicer than the individual rooms, much more bright and attractively decorated. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Loved it, rooms are ok, great breakfast, great location, good service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff seem nice enough, but patrons who are "troubled" were allowed to openly discuss their personal issues in the breakfast area and making other guests uncomfortable. The waitress Rose made no to little attempt to curb the conversation; in fact she was an active participant. Oh well, I guess that's what you get for choosing the cheapest option on […] the list. "Had a great stay......except......"
The Kachina is an older hotel; however, it is kept up pretty good. We did enjoy our stay with one exception. Our last night, we had next door neighbors....young girls that laughed and screamed and I had to pound on the wall to quiet them down. So walls are not very sound proofGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I have been going to the Kachina Lodge since the Seventies. It is a family tradition. One of the highlights of our family trip every year was breakfast and the Kachina Lodge Café. We would have sausage and hashbrowns covered in green chili. In fact we ate enough to allow us to skip lunch and ski all day. Currently there is one poor overwhelmed cook […] who probably just never cooked in his life. The waitress was panicked when facing eight customers. And her drama with everyone's drama. She shared the fact that the cook was brand-new with everyone at least twice. The burden of telling everyone of her suffering with a brand new cook prohibited her from refilling coffee. I ordered two pieces of sausage. It took 35 minutes. It seemed that a good bit of the hotel was vacant. That didn't stop them from putting a folksinger directly above my room. I heard every chord changes he struggled to play his guitar. Obviously this is no longer a best Western property. The lack of supervision is evident. I am sorry to see a family tradition die because of incompetent management. . Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Cute Old Style Roadside America"
From the first moments, I knew I was in for a treat. Very charming place, looks right out of the 1960s golden age of travel and yet was up-to-date with what we expect from today's hotels. Breakfast was full and either in the Hopi Dining room or the cafe, decorated with super-kitsch native statues and plenty of vintage fixtures. I recommend this to anyone […] who does not want their time in Taos taken up by cookie-cutter hotels and boring chains but wants to see something special. As with any historic structures, there may be signs of age here and there. Again, if you want a plastic boring hotel with everything new but from Home Depot, stay somewhere else. If you want to chat with interesting people, have friendly staff, and take the bottomless coffee looking at Kachina paintings, stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
