"Footy in Cardiff"
This was a nice enough hotel for an overnight stay. Breakfast was plentiful but not gourmet.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was close to a main bus route into Cardiff City Centre which made it suitable to leave the car during the World Cup opening ceremony at the Millennium Stadium. The staff at the hotel were extremely nice and helpful. The food was good and the breakfasts had a good variety of items. It was a very enjoyable weekend, the boys off to the rugby […] whilst I chilled out at the hotel, had a swim, read a book, all the things I don't seem to have time for at home. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice little break either to shop in Cardiff or just to chill out. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Good Value Hotel with good facilities in an excellant loaction and within very easy travelling distance (on public transport) to the City centreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was great; very friendly and helpful staff, fabulous leisure facilities and comfy, clean roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Expensive given that it's in the outskirts of Cardiff. Very noisy on Friday and Saturday night due to weddings. The room was a let down for the price paid - very much standard business hotel with no trimmings, though the website would lead you to believe there might be some nice extras; there aren't any. Shower gel dispenser in the bathroom, rather […] than individual toiletries. No room to unpack anything more than 2 nights worth of clothes. Terrible TV. Not even a clock... They offer an upgraded room with a little extra but I think they should have been included in the standard rooms given their cost. The food in the restaurants was also very poor sadly. We have stayed here for many years over the last ten years abd this will definetly be the last. The hotel was noisy on both nights. we had emailed for a quiet room and were put between 2 groups of young girls who were partying in thier room until 11 o clock before going into Cardiff. we did complain at desk on departure and were given a card to email […] on or next visit. i explained that we had already done that this time. The breakfast room is now far to cramped and the Hot buffet was luke warm. we ate in the Village pup which was dirty and noisy as there was a wedding going on. we normally eat in the restaurant but it now only serves Itatian food which my husband does not like. Won't be staying here again Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent stayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel didn't appear to be full yet the room was as far away from the entrance as you could get accessed via a dirty lift. The whole place just seems tired and run down. So glad I only had to stay for one nightGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful customer service"
We stayed at the Village because it is close to family. It is a comfortable, reasonably well-equipped hotel. Free WiFi. But what set it apart was the customer service. We arrived with a dog, as the hotel advertises as dog-friendly. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming, and even moved us to larger interconnecting rooms so there would be more space […] for us all. I can't praise the staff highly enough. "Great hotel very comfortable, great views"
Great hotel, good food in their Italian restaurant. Great Breakfast in the morning. Located a very short distance from the major motorways but you didn't hear them.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Typical chain hotel"
Nice hotel but the location was not great for Cardiff. Nothing to do outside hotel. Mostly business guests. Ok for stop off on way to other location.Genuine Expedia guest review
"UpperDeck is excellent and worth the money!"
Very nice hotel with pleasant welcome from reception staff. UpperDeck rooms are superb, Sky HD and Starbucks always goes well! Didn't use leisure facilities this time, but Village hotels always have a first class pool, gym and sauna from previous experience, so I will be using those next time.Genuine Expedia guest review

"very convenient location"
2 night stay either side of a day's work. Very pleasant room with views to the north including Castell Coch! 2 of us in the room but only one chair and that was at the desk. There was enough floor space either side of the bed to have allowed for a chair each there. Fri night booked table in the Italian themed dining room for 8.30pm It was busy and it […] was 8.57pm before our order was taken and the food arrived at 9.30pm, very tasty but a long wait. No problem at all Saturday at 6.30pm very fast, efficient and pleasant service. The same was true of breakfast on Sat and Sun, great service and the hot plate and toaster worked very well, although as we left at 9.45am on Sun there was a huge queue of about 25+ disgruntled people waiting to get in! Clean comfortable rooms, tasty food but do plan your meal times. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Gym Facilities"
I really enjoyed the stay, the only thing that slightly concerned me, In the new part, the plumbing seem to go off on its own it was like everyone in or around went to the tolilet at the same time, became annoying at 2/3 a.m, once or twice is fine, please investigate,Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely pool facilities"
Quick and easy check in and check out. Good leisure facilities. Only niggle was the shower in room, could have been a bit more powerful. We would stay againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"hotel with good facilities"
Stayed here a couple of times and would recommend the hotel. Good location near Cardiff with easy access to the city by road. Local town, Whitchurch, has excellent places to eat if you don't want to use the hotel's Italian restaurant. Staff friendly and the hotel has very good facilities including a fine gym and pool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"comfy beds, great food in vinny and vitos"
We have stayed here many times before, and the rooms are always comfy and spacious. The food in Vinnies and Vintos is always good, and it is good value for money, I would highly recommend you pay a visit to this resturant, it is well worth it. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and they are always willing to help if you have any problems.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel, friendly, helpful staff."
The room was clean and well appointed but could have benefitted from some more storage space (drawers). Staff were helpful, polite and eager to help. Breakfast choice was excellent and an easy experience. Leisure facilities were a plus and rounded off a pleasant day with a relaxing swim and sauna. Rail and bus travel into Cardiff was very easy to use […] and added to the break. Trains do not run on Sunday but the buses do run into the city centre. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Weekend in Cardiff"
Easy to book. Excellent value for money. Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. Lots of food choice. Highly recommended.Genuine Expedia guest review
Really pleasant stay! Stayed in the 'upperdeck' which i would totally recommend. Gained full use of the swimming pool, gym, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Ate in the house restaurant which had been recently refurbished and was excellent. Breakfast was lovely only regret was not staying for longer.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good facilities on site Inc costa and Italian."
I booked a family room in order to get extra space and asked for the sofa bed to be made up so I could use it and my elderly father use the main bed. On arrival we only had a double bed in the room and the sofa bed was not made up. It transpired that whereas the hotels own website states sofa bed is for children aged 12 and under this was not made clear […] on the Expedia site through which I booked. We should have requested a twin room. I was told that a twin was not available on the Friday night we arrived so the sofa bed was made up and proved very uncomfortable. The following day we were moved to a twin and well looked after by the staff who sympathised but were unaware of the problems we had on arrival. Breakfast was good and the staff (all locals) looked after us. Good to see cleaners on duty most of the time and no problem with car parking arrangements although it can be a very long walk from the car to your room in the annex block! Would probably stay again but not with an elderly relative. It's a younger persons venue especially given the activity and noise in the lobby / foyer. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Oh Dear a sqeeky floorboard"
The only reason this hotel misses out on the Full 5 points is because the hotel room had a creaky floorboard in a constantly used spot & I was very disappointed with the bed as it was just 2 single beds pushed together,I ended up sleeping inthe middle in a dip & then woke up to neck pain due to the odd sleeping position. We very much enjoyed use of […] the facilities, the pool & jacuzzi etc. & the breakfast was lovely. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I always expect a certain standard from the de vere chain but increasingly am disappointed. the thinnest walled and floored hotel i have stayed in for a long time, small rooms, not especially clean, mattresses and pillows fine. ignored at breakfast. check in staff nice. fine if it's necessary but not one I would come back toGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A good all rounder. Very high for value for money"
Having stayed at quite a few hotels over the last year I'm putting this Hotel close to the top for value for money. Very comfortable. Very easy stay. Clearly it's a good hotel as it has a constant flow of people in and around the hotel. Having all the facilities you could ask for available I defiantly look forward to booking this hotel again should […] I need to. M Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Have stayed here several times before. This hotel seems improve with each visit! The staff are always welcoming and friendly. The rooms are modern, clean, comfy and a good size. There are a choice of bars, restaurants and a coffee shop. The pool, spa and leisure services are superb.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Walking from the hotel"
Castell Coch is do-able across the motorway intersection and through the village of Tongwynlais. Gareth Hill is possible going under the M4 and to the west of the quarried hill (which is pretty provide you skirt the quarries). ASDA is very close by turning left outside the hotel. Turn right and walk down the road 500yds and then follow disused railway […] track to ASDA - nice walk. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Upper deck rooms not good value. Staff in restaurant are clearly overworked and understaffed. Queues for breakfast, lack of plates available etc on both occassions we have stayed,Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had a good one nights stay. I used the gym in the evening which was busy but didn't need to wait to use any equipment. I ate in the bar which offered good food.I went for a swim before breakfast which was again nice but soilt by a cold shower in the changing rooms and topped off by a luke warm shower back in my room. Breakfast was OK..in their newly […] opened restaurant but I think they will need to change the layout as it looked like it wouldn't work if the place was busy. "Not recommended - Sorry!"
1. Initial impression good, but this did not last. " Don't use the lift" - it is somewhat temperamental! 2. Room a good size & the bed comfortable. Lighting not good. 3. Elements of the housekeeping, both in our room and more so in the hotel generally left much to be desired. 4. The spa is super - except that it is soooo busy catering for the local […] population- we could not get in. 5. Food - in my opinion this was the worst aspect of our stay. Ready meals, reheated was about the level of the offer. I only had one 3 course meal, and did not wish to take another. Breakfast was satisfactory, but did not show any originality. The staff could do with some further training in how to run a decent restaurant. White wine served luke warm, lack of suitable cutlery for some dishes, in some cases no understanding of what was asked for. 6. General cleanliness of restaurant premises was badly in need of attention. Do I need to say more? Overall, I could not award more than 2**. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Disappointing room for the price, but great staff"
Didn't start off well: I misunderstood the 'early checkin' message in the Experia email, meaning we couldn't check in from 11am unless we paid £10 in advance. But the staff were very helpful, did the paperwork and took the luggage so we could collect the key later when the room was ready. The room was modern, and clean. But it was quite basic, more […] like a budget hotel with little storage (and a rather annoying shelf unit under the hanging rail, even for shirts) and no drawers. But the room was spacious so just had to leave clothes in the case on the floor. I was disappointed at the 'luxury' missing, for what i think was a luxury price (I could have stayed at Whitchurch Travelodge for fiftypounds less a night). Our room was noisy from the bar and the smokers outside Starbucks. We just wanted to get some sleed after attending a funderal. The staff were great. They moved us upsatirs, to the back of the hotel and offered to move our luggage. The room turned out to be an upgrade (a bit bigger bed, stackbucks instant coffee, one biscuit, faecloths, sky tv). Breakfast was ok. Nice range of food, but the cooked breakfast seemed a bit run of the mill (again, for the price and compared to other Devere hotels I've stayed in). But once again, the staff were great. Was very rouwdy on the Friday night (lots of drunk people carry drinks up the stairs), so be warned if you're not part of the event! Can't fault the staff, who even remembered we changed room and asked if it was ok. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Overall a very good hotel. Rooms were very clean and food was nice only criticism would be that the bed was very hard for my tasteGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was okay but not fantastic - you get what you pay for. My room in the 'new' wing had squeaky floors everywhere, it was the same in the corridors so I suspect all rooms are the same. Bit of a stale smell in the restaurant/bar - may have been a temporary issue?Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dropped the ball a few times, but we slept well."
The floors in the new annex squeaked so much. I have never heard such squeaky floor boards in a new construction. People up stairs were walking around and the squeaks were irritating. The fire alarm went off at 9 in the morning and there was no hotel staff there to tell us what was happening so we had to gather everything we could and get outside. It […] was a false alarm but the staff didn't seem to care about our interrupted stay. It's not near the city centre so their website is a bit misleading. What we saved on the room was used up in Taxi fares. So stay in one down town and save the hassle. But it's clean and the spa is nice as is the pool, steam and sauna. "Could be good, let down by noise and service"
We booked this as it was the only place we could find to stay after the Wales v NZ game. Stayed twice This time the rate had nearly doubled from our last stay but there was no alternative. Room was comfortable, clean and smelled of paint when we arrived. We returned to our room at 2200, for a cup of tea and discovered that there were no biscuits - what's […] the point of a tea tray with no biscuits? Lights out at 2230 to realise that our room (168) must have been directly above the disco and the DJ felt like talking in between tunes. Eventually got to sleep to be awoken by the guys returning to room 166 at 0315, obviously having enjoyed a long day out, they only talked, shouted and roared with laughter for about an hour. Got up, discovered that we only had one hand towel, the shower gel was in a refill pack so was very difficult to extract from the bottle, and the shower was certainly not a "power shower". Breakfast - all good but why no potatoes or hash browns? Why is it group policy not to do potatoes for breakfast? Checkout - all of the above mentioned to the lady behind the counter who eventually tore herself away from the computer in the back office when the checkout queue threatened to spill out through the door. Her attitude led me to believe that she couldn't care less - fine, there are other hotels in Cardiff, I've already booked different ones for my December, February and March visits.
