Great service from all the staff. Our room was clean but we were disappointed with the finishes in the room that have not been updated since Eagle Hawk first opened. More attention to detail and a refurbishment would have made our stay nicer.

Rooms need to be updated.Bathroom paint peeling .Tiles need to be replaced. Rooms hard to find. Parking ordinary as some rooms are a considerable distance from parking area. A good alternative for a cheaper hotel stay in Canberra. Hotel is on the NSW border and about 15 minutes to the city centre - you must have a car though if staying here. There are many kangaroos on the property which international visitors would love.

Problems too numerous to mention but main issues were floor not clean and stench of some sort of perfumed something masking the fact that there wasn't much real cleaning going on. Request for a twin room - denied for no reason. Motel is sprawling and no signs for room numbers - impossible to find at night time If it's raining, beware! I stepped in a puddle upto my ankle, and there was no outside lighting Rain was leaking in the door... List goes on!

Our first impression of the room was not so bad, even though the room appeared nothing like the website, which informed us of a corner bath in a family room. We became progressively unhappy as we noticed that their was one chair for a family of four. We then noticed after promising our children that we would be able to have room service, that we could […] not even order our children a milkshake! And finally being a family with children toys can dropped and rolled under a bed, now when my seven year old asked for help to retrieve what had gone under the bed I found the most disgusting site I had ever seen! I stayed overnight for business at Eagle Hawk resort. The food at the event was very poor; at one point it looked as though we were eating caramelised onion and kraft mayo sandwiches (very unpleasant) and at after and morning tea breaks there was one very small cake per person as an offering. We stayed in the 2 bedrm suite - 2 adjacent rooms with interconnecting door open. Rooms were clean and tidy so that was a plus but we were let down by a few things. Service was a mixed bag. At check in, we didn’t receive the same warm welcome as the girl who went before us. In contrast, staff in the breakfast lounge were polite, friendly and gave us […] a discount off breakfast. Some things were not as advertised on hotels.com. Its supposedly advertised as suitable for kids but IMO its not - at least not for young kids. There was no chain or latch on the front doors. My son easily unlocked the door and allowed him to get out on his own - luckily we saw him. The advertising said the room has an LCD but it had 2 small CRTs - meaning no digital tv. Sure we werent there to watch tv but when you have a 3yo who is wide awake at 6am, its a godsend having abc4kids to keep him entertained and quiet. The room had a kettle and microwave but no toaster. Reception told us they didnt have any. Ok, it wasnt advertised but with kids its an essential appliance for quick breakkie or snack. Now, some non kid specific issues. Was supposed to be 1 king and 2 single beds. The king was 2 single king beds pushed together so the split mattress made it uncomfortable. There was no "do not disturb" sign, no brochures/magazines about things to do in Canberra and no takeway flyers incase we decided not to use the hotels restaurent. After reading the other reviews I was dubious about staying here. The location didn't bother me, if you have your own car that's not a problem. The thing is, if you are going to have a hotel 'in the bush', you need to keep up with the 'upkeep' of the property. The light fittings at the entry of our room was full of spider webs, dead bugs, dust etc. […] The corrugated roofing around each verandah was full of mould and looked really dirty and grotty. There was a Daddy Long Leg spider in my shower etc. I will mention that it's probably about time the TVs got an upgrade, the carpets replaced and walls had a fresh coat of paint! Rooms are clean & roomy enough for the moderate rate. Very easy to park, with a peacfull bush setting - good to get away from highrise. I would recommend Hotel - improves internal TV to larger flat screens and provide a more extensive selection of free TV ie: Foxtel showtime movies. Motel hard to find, have to go off the freeway and find amongst the tatty buildings nearby. Room good, no ice in ice tray (which was grubby), very comfortable bed but ONLY ONE PILLOW and no extras. I made the mistake of underestimating my travel time and arrival. I got into Canberra at 4:30 am. Reception sympathized with me and on enquiring the departure time indicated i could sleep as long as I wished. Habit had me up and looking for a feed at 9:30 am I hadn't included breakfast in the booking and thought i would take advantage of the hotel service. […] I was alone and offered any seat and any choice. I thought i would eat healthy and asked for poached eggs, tomato and mushrooms. No toast and black coffee. They cooked eggs and mushroom on the spot and added tomatoes fro a superb presentation. I added orange juice from the self serve dispenser and the staff asked if i would like a bowl of fruit. Best breakfast in years and they charged me $15:00 I will be going with them again. I might become a privileged customer and get a discount on the already reasonable rates. Read more

Hotel is in a rural setting, wallabies and roos abound at dusk with one showing off its Joey on our doorstep for half an hour one evening. We were glad we paid the extra for a suite as basic room we saw had a double (not queen) bed and single squeezed into the usual hotel configuration and gave little space to move comparatively. Suite was spacious. […] We did not eat in at all but hotel facilities looked clean and tidy although the grounds/external building maintenance was starting to look a bit scruffy. We several times found ourselves looking for any form of outdoor seating anywhere except for round the pool. Large footprint meant older or impaired guests might need to drive to laundry, bar, reception, etc, unless they requested rooms close to reception. This was compensated by little disturbance from people coming and going as rooms widespread. Plumbing in our block of 4 units was extremely noisy. Facilities for in suite self catering were barely more than basic hotel room and while rooms were clean on arrival room service over a several night stay was sketchy. You can imagine my disappointment when arriving at the hotel, to have to wait for nearly 40 minutes to be served by the only 1 reception staff member there. To add to my disappointment, on three occassions, my room door was knocked on and no one was there. The Hotel had a group of School Students and the noice and actions of some made this hotel more […] like a camp site then a business Center. I had to call the reception area on a few occassions as the mini-bar had many items missing and when I informed reception, their exact words were "Yes we know ... IT'S NOT LIKE WE ARE GOING TO CHARGE. You don't need to call us." The sauna did not work, the GYM was out of order and the food was horrible and expensive. As an international business traveller, this is not a 4 star hotel, yet the price was. Very disappointing. With all that happened, I would have thought a discount or at least some form of complimentary service would have been given. Nothing. Out of sight and out of mind was the attitude of this place. I wouldnt call this place a resort, it is more like a motor inn. when we arrived the check in desk was really busy and only one staff member was on, there were several others floating around who did not come to assist. there was a long walk from the reception to our room and being heavily pregnant that wasn't great. the food in the restaurant was not […] very good and over priced for what it was, the service was also quite poor. The room was ok, old and out dated though. Bathroom had cracked tiles and tiles falling off the walls but it was clean. the mini bar was not restocked, and i had to call reception to ensure that we wouldnt be charged for the 10 or so items that were missing on our arrival. The resort is very much over rated. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights. There were several issues with the resort: 1. The room had cobwebs that were not cleared before or during our stay, 2. The grouting in the bathroom floor and the wall tiles has come off in many places through which creepy-crawlies could come out, 3. Water leaked around the toilet […] bowl and that was disgusting, 4. The hotel which actually is a motel is suitable only for people with cars as the restaurant is located fairly far away and for anyone to walk to and back when it is raining, cold and dark will be uncomfortable.
