The Stoweflake was a good value for a summer stay in Stowe. Just up Mountain road, it is a little outside of downtown proper, which affords it a little more more to spread out than the ones on Main street. And what you give up not being able to walk to main street you gain in quicker access to skiing in the winter. The rooms are large, and many. But, alas, the beds are pretty uncomfortable. Old and creaky spring mattresses with stock pillows and scratchy blankets. The in-room fireplace in our deluxe room is probably a nice touch in the winter. But it seems there is little floor space in front of it to really enjoy it, so it is more decorative than anything. The on site restaurants are acceptable, but not spectacular. The spa was very nice, if not a bit too pricey. All in all a nice, but not spectacular, place to stay for a Stowe summer getaway or winter ski vacation.

It was a wonderful time relaxing, The staff was wonderful from the doorman, to the person who did the turn down service. The spa was amazing I felt like jelly afterwards. The location was beautiful, the grounds so neat and flowers everywhere. If you need a place to go and really unwind from everyday stress this is the place to go and get awayfrom from it all.

My husband and I just returned from a weekend at Stoweflake. Our goal was to get away and relax before the hustle bustle of fall. The Stoweflake was the perfect location for this. We didn't purchase any treatments from the spa, but we did take advantage of the facilities (sauna, Hungarian Salt pool, waterfall, jacuzzi). This alone was entrancing. We each looked like we were three years younger leaving on Sunday. The room was always clean, the lobby was inviting as well. We are counting the days until we can go back. Our only complaint would be the expense of food. We didn't look to hard for a deal, but it seemed that every meal we ate in Stowe was more expensive than we would have expected. Overall, we love, love, loved the experience!!

Choosing between this and another high end hotel in the area was made easier by Hotels.com's special price. I am glad we decided on the Stoweflake because every person we dealt with was professional, prompt, friendly, and informative. From the check in desk to the concierge, bartenders, restaurant staff, and spa staff, we were treated to true 4 Diamond service. The spa is beautiful and treatments were performed at a caliber worth the price. The outdoor pool and bar were relaxing and carried on the excellent service we received throughout the experience. The only negatives are that the decor is slightly outdated (but okay for "rustic" Vermont) and that there was a $20 fee for use of the spa, despite the fact that we had paid extra for the "spa room." The "spa room" did include a jetted tub and was nearest the spa and pool. It was quite nice and very comfortable.

Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Mar 25, 2008
The Stoweflake is a truly outstanding spa resort, especially if you take advantage of their numerous ski vacation packages and spa treatments. We were there for a single night after a long day at the spa, which is extremely classy and well kept. Their employees are polite and their services are divine! My criticisms are few: they didn't provide itemized bills for anything unless asked (even the automatic gratuity was not listed separately), the adjoining Charlie B's pub (also provides in-room dining) fell well behind the quality maintained by the resort and we expected a more comfortable bed for the price. Finally, it was nice being able to retreat to our room that was right on top of the spa but the "Spa King" room was not so amazing that I would recommend the additional cost. You can get to any room in the hotel within minutes without stepping outside.

You don't get much for the price of the hotel. Neutral decor, good service but nothing extraordinary. The in room gas fireplace had an auto shutoff feature that turned it off every 5 minutes to keep it from overheating.

Service was great. The suite was clean, comfy, and provided the private getaway that the husband and I were looking forward to. My only complaint was the review boasted the bed to be a pillowtop and it was just a standard king size bed.
