"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Another Good Experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
My wife and I have stayed at the Courtyard in Mahwah three of the last four years to attend the NEAF astronomy show at the Rockland Community College in Suffern, just a few minutes away. We've always had good a experience and this stay was no different. The recent renovations definitely spruced the hotel up. The pool and spa area was nice, although the acoustics in the room left my ears ringing after a group of children in the pool were not using their "indoor voices." Our room was very clean, everything worked well, including the internet connection (which is a wired connection) and having a Dunkin Donuts right next door makes a stay here worthwhile in my humble opinion! Just grab a coffee and a bagel sandwich and go. The rates are competitive with other hotels in the area. If someone on here rates the hotel low, they must be comparing it to a five-star city hotel or maybe a destination resort. It's not that, but it is a clean and decent place to stay while traveling for business or short-term pleasure. I believe we will stay there again next year.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.

"Primo Location"
Great location on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The room was small as was expected (after reading other reviews), but clean and adequate. It reminded me of my first tiny apartment in Manhattan, minus the kitchen. Would definitely recommend the hotel for individuals, but not enough space for a family. The bed was super firm!
"quiet location near museum and transportation"
I was looking for a hotel in a quiet location after a disastrous last trip (I got virtually no sleep). I had no trouble sleeping or being comfortable at this hotel. Bear in mind, I am a small person and a small room and small bathroom did not bother me. But it's not like I was planning a dance party in my room. Bus stops and a subway station were close […] by, less than 10 minutes from Times Square. The room was clean, the shower could use a remodel (just because it's entirely slate doesn't mean the job was done well). The staff were courteous. The alarm clock consistently read the wrong time and after 15 minutes, I couldn't figure out how to change it so I used my phone as an alarm. But these were minor problems during a very comfortable stay. Read more
"convienent location - lacked modern conveniences"
The Park 79 was in a great location and the staff there were very nice and helpful. The elevator held 3 people max and was very SLOW. As far as the room goes - there was one very small window blocked by the window air conditioner which was pretty dirty and sounded like a jet engine. The room was not homey - it was very cold and kind of bleak looking. […] You could not get ice easily, no room fridge - it was a very basic room. I don't believe it was worth the money. On the upside - I felt safe and it was in a convenient location. I don't think I'd stay there again. Read more
"Great Location"
Terrific location, right between 2 major subway lines, across street from Natural History Museum, 2 blocks to Central Park, lots of restaurants, stores, pharmacies all within 1 block of the hotel. Selection of coffees and teas in the lobby every morning, and while the rooms are small they are clean and comfortable enough. Hot water is an issue, and […] one morning the water never got hotter than 'warm', and all days it took a long time for the hot water to make its way to the shower, but if I needed to be in this part of town would definitely stay again as its clean, safe, and convenient. "Clean, friendly, great location"
The Park 79 was great! Although the room was small, it was clean and had a nice bath. The location near the Museum of Natural History was quiet, clean, and near terrific restaurants and convenient to all the places we wanted to go. I had read that the staff were not friendly, but they were so friendly and helpful to us--gave us weather and restaurant […] tips, happy to help us out. We will definitely stay here again. Read more

"great location in a nice neighborhood."
Clean, quiet and small. Our family of four fit nicely (a little tightly) in a junior suite. We didn't spend much time in our room so it didn't bother us. Nice spot with great concierge service.

"great location"
Very small room, but clean, with a very comfie bed, big TV, and very quiet Staff is most accommodating and helpful to their guests. My shower head broke just as I was about to get in it, but the maintenance man was there in minutes to fix. I would return in a New York minute!
We really enjoyed hearing the elevator going up and going down - all night!

"Park 79 ....Mixed reviews!!!!!"
I Booked a room with 2 twin beds. At arrival the Front desk said they had only 1 double bed to offer. The room was small with NO air conditioning. We asked to pay for an upgrade and were told that they were full. The front desk Clerk was not helpful, but the person who answered the phone was extremely helpful. Within 30 minutes we changed rooms to a […] junior Suite at no extra charge. 1 double bed with a pull out couch, refrigerator and air conditioning. If you want to be close to Central Park, this is the perfect location and very safe. Easy to get a cab. I would recommend as long as you do not need any frills. Clean and quiet. Just don't leave anything in the room when you leave because you will not get it back. Miraculously disappears!! :( Read more
"Great location, miniscule rooms"
Location of Park 79 is terrific - across from the Museum of Natural History and convenient to the Upper West Side. Hotel itself? Meh. Okay for the price and location. Mediocre rooms, practically non-existent water pressure, bathroom the size of a broom closet - literally.
"park 79 - Great hotel!"
This hotel is in a great location tucked instead a neighborhood on the upper west side. Friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed. Rooms arnie small- but that's new york! Just down the street from the history museum and central park...easy subway ride down to times square. Loved it and would definitely stay again!
"Had to share a bathroom and the TV sucks."
The location is excellent if you are into museum and history. The hotel is right next to the Central Park, got a lot of room to run or walk your dog. When I booked the room, I was not aware that this room was a semi-private room. The room itself is only 7'X10', very small, no bath room. No closet, no fridge, no control to temp, and the TV reception […] was terrible. To pee or shower, you need to use your room key to open a shared bathroom down the hall. Kind of like the movie....silly. Read more
"Park 79 - Mixed Review"
Hotel is in a really great location. Upper West Side, half a block from Natural Science Museum. Lobby is nice, with comp'd coffee til 11am and free Wi-Fi. The room had no climate control. No airconditioning, only radiator. Bathroom was smaller than one on a cruiseship. Has a VERY European feel. Not recommended for those expecting American hotel ame […] nities. Read more
"Park 79 - great location, bare-bones hotel"
We stayed at Park 79 last weekend and chose it for the location, since we had tickets to two events at Lincoln Center and love the UWS. The staff was helpful, and the room small but fine for our needs. What prevents me from recommending the hotel, though, is the fact that the hot water was extremely unreliable. Among the four of us staying in the room, […] we had one hot shower in two days. Read more
The staff were polite and helpful. The room was clean, though tiny. My only complaint was that the bed was uncomfortable. Other than that, it's a great location on the Upper West Side, a great price, and a pleasant place to stay.
"Only good thing: close to central park"
Tiny hotel, only good thing is that it is close to central park and pretty clean. But the rooms are TINY, there were holes in the floor, hard and uncomfortable bed, the pillows were hurting our necks (pretty the same way a big hard rock would hurt your neck), and there were a lot of noise outside the hotel. THE PICTURES ARE NOT AS THE ROOM LOOKS. Would […] NOT recommend this hotel unless your only other option is staying on the streets. Read more
"Great little spot in the Upper Westside"
I was nervous about this hotel, because some of the reviews - But I was so pleasantly surprised at what a little gem this hotel is. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Our room was quiet. It was right across the street from the Museum of Nature History, and great restaurants withing blocks. It was a great place to stay.

"Great winter retreat"
Wonderful two day stay with my elementary school age kids. Junior suite had enough room for us and was very comfortable. I've read previous reviews and was surprised by the negative reviews. We had a good experience. I love the west side of Manhattan and this is the perfect spot. Couldn't ask for a closer hotel to the park or Natural history museum. […] Convenience store across the street is welcome help for late night snacks. Try the coffee & tea spot around the corner on Columbus, great morning waffles & coffee! :) Read more
"Pleasant room, small bathroom"
room was overall quite nice. Bathroom is tiny (shower only).
"Nice room, tiny bathroom"
Room was nice, clean, very pleasant. Only downside was the bathroom is VERY small; drying off after a shower needs to be carefully choreographed to not bump into the sink, walls, shower door. Still, I'd stay there again.
"Park 79 is more like a hostle"
It's a nice location, cheap, and doable. Only thing is there is shared bathrooms and showers. Reminded Me of a hostle
"Too hot in February?"
We had a horrible stay due to the fact that the hotel temperature was around 80 despite the fact that our window was open. It was ridiculously hot. We complained, but since our room's radiator was off, they did absolutely nothing, and we had to spend another night miserable. Couldn't sleep at all.
"Nice and clean little hotel."
Small hotel, small room, big customer service. My wife and I spent three nights back in November and we are very satisfied with our visit because this hotel service and location.
"Simple, no-frills but classy!"
I was upgraded to a king room on the 7th floor when I arrived. Staff was friendly and accommodating and let me check-in early. My room was clean and cozy. You can tell the building is old, but it has been updated to feel "new" and elegant. Great price, comfy bed, and good staff!
"Park 79 Hotel"
From the moment me & my mate walked in, we was satisfied...Hatem greeted us when we arrived. He was very courteous, and answered all of our questions without us asking. My boyfriend surprisingly Loved the room. It was just enough space 4 us to relax. It was spotless Inside & outside of our room. We didn't expect so much for such a low rate, and is looking […] forward to visiting again. Read more

"Park 79th Hotel in late Jan"
This is a very comfortable hotel. I love that its an old building, kept nicely, but could update with new caret and fresh paint or molding. Bathrooms are in Great shape. I'd stay again
"More than adequate."
Very good hotel with a low cost. They have size and quality to meet you budget. good location to many attractions and to Broadway and Time Square. Also a few blocks from the 1 train which will take you up/down town Manhattan. I was very a happy for the price I paid. Would stay there again.
very nice small hotel within walking distance to museums and Central Park with wide variety of pleasant restaurants close by. Ask for a room to the back.
"Great Location"
As noted by others, this is a terrific upper west side location, across the street from Natural History Museum, and within 2 blocks of 3 major train lines. 2 blocks to Central Park. Staff was all very pleasant, free coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the lobby every morning until 10 am or so. Small rooms, but everything worked in the room and it was […] comfortable. Shared bathrooms for standard rooms, but the bathrooms were always clean. Rooms have shampoo (no hair conditioner), soap, body lotion, nice thick towels, irons, and tv's. There were issues with the heat, in the fact that the room was way too hot for my taste and in the middle of winter I had the window open to keep it to my liking, but this is not something that would prevent me from staying here again. If you need to be on the upper west side, its recommended. Read more
"First trip to NYC!"
Went with my wife and we had a great time! Hotel was clean and the staff was helpful. We would stay again. Elevator was slow, so we just took the stairs... if you are a big person and/or lazy - the elevator may upset you, if you have to constantly wait on it.

"good neighborhood"
It is a very cute small hotel. The 21/2 star does not do it justice. The rooms are small but very clean and comfy. There was a problem with our first room and the staff was very quick to get us a new room and they were very polite about it. Great location
"Park 79 - NYC"
Euro style hotel, skinny rooms with shared bathroom on each floor. Sink in the bedroom. I, personally, really love this style of hotel. It is has the essentials. Best price in the area. This was planned for a romantic weekend at the Opera, so it was perfect. Really romantic. Good location for> Met Opera, Central Park, MOMA Zabar's was not far, so […] we grabbed a roasted duck, olives, cheese and wine for dinner. Had it in the room, so sweet! If you drive a van> It will not fit in the parking garage that Park 79 provides. The staff was helpful. Our stay was just lovely. The beds could of been a little comfier, but made up for it with its thick, white down comforters and plenty of pillows. We fell asleep listening to a man outside play the sax.... Read more
"Hotel Park 79 - a great deal"
I've stayed at Park 79 several times. It is one of the best bargains in New York. Great location and solid quality. This last stay - midwinter-the comfort level was lessened by overheating in the room. The radiator had inadequate control, so virtually no adjustment was possible. Other than that it is always a pleasure to stay there.
"Park 79 NY"
the hotel itself was not very comfortable but the staff was as accommodating as possible Not a place to stay if getting some sleep is important and comfort is a priority.

"Park 79 NY,NY"
Friendly staff and very accommodating. Would stay there again. Really liked it!
"Not a good fit"
Don't stay here if you have a waist over 36 inches. Bathroom accommodations are tight -- literally. Room is small also, with barely enough room to walk around the bed. Staff was helpful, but there is only so much you can do with physical dimensions. Location is fine and there are interesting places to eat nearby. The problem is the space--it's not […] there. "Good price and location"
Just stayed one night. For the price I was expecting a more run-down place, but was pleasantly surprised. The room was small, but fine for my needs. Everything was in good condition. The only negative aspects were a very noisy radiator, and thin walls/doors so you couldn't help hearing the neighbors. I would definitely stay there again.

"Great location, good bathroom, good discount"
A very nice location on the Upper West Side. The room was small but adequate, the bathroom tiny (with a shower) but very nice. The price was right (with a discount).
"Staycation at park 79"
My girlfriend and I stay here looking to get away from our usual stomping grounds for a night. We could not be happier with the location being so close to many attractions or points of interest. The best find was a little Mexican restaurant around the corner. Small in size however the food left smiles well after eating! The room was a comfortable standard […] with a private bath. Will most definetly stay here again in the future! Read more
