Microtel Inn by Wyndham Charlotte/University Place - Charlotte

Pros: room was quiet and clean. Comfortable for one night stay. Cons: Lobby had strong smell of cigarette smoke. Breakfast limited to carbs only, no choices for diabetic husband. It met our needs for a single night but I would not choose it for a long term stay.

Breakfast carb heaven no variety. Thin walls and ceiling. If neighbors walked you heard it. Non-smoking room and the neighbors hanging out window smoking.dirty hallways. No coffee makers in room.

Front desk was very friendly. Lobby was ok. It had the dining rm tables and chairs across from front desk. The beds in the room was very comfortable. The carpet needed to be replaced. The heating and air would net stay regulated.The hotel was between being a great hotel vs a bad.

It was ok for the money. Carpet was dirty and I could hear sounds from the other room through the walls at 2 am. Those are really the only 2 complaints I have.

I was so afraid for my life in this hotel..drug dealers hanging out in the front and female escorts in the hallways... The breakfast was non existent and the hotel was falling apart. Carpet was comming up base boards were missing walls were unpainted....NEVER stay at this hotel again!!!!

Stayed here a couple years ago and was a good stay but since then it has turned into a dump. Bathtub hasn't been updated so even though clean the finish was off and felt like I was sitting in soap scum. A dirty window covering was left laying on the side bench. Next morning went to breakfast kids were playing with waffle maker and couldn't get any so […] looked at muffins and they were stale. Noticed all the staff coming in and getting fresh packs of muffins for themselves. Coffee was lukewarm so couldn't even get a decent cup of coffee. Shady people coming and going kids running up and down the halls all morning. Though I had a non smoking room halls smelled like smoke. Do yourself a favor I paid $60 for the room go somewhere else pay $40 and you'll save some money and get the same experience. Whoever gave this hotel a higher rating than a 2 has never stayed in anything better than a dive hotel. Read more

i booked and paid for a smoking room. when i checked in i was given a non smoking room which i didnt find out until i was in the room and called the front desk. ten minutes after checking in a couple entered my room because they had been given a key to the room as well.

The hotel was in a good area however the condition of the hotel was NOT up to par. If you are desperate and just need somewhere to sleep for cheap its a deal. However the hotel needs major cleaning and remodeling. It looked as if there was a flood or bad leak on the second floor. I had an early morning meeting in charlotte so I decided to come the night before. The room appeared to be newly remodeled. Nice bed linens and good pillows. The staff let us have a late check out so my mom could stay at the room while I went to my training.

No frills. There was a hair in the tub, some sort of dark stain in a corner of the ceiling (mold?), and breakfast was bare bones - not a protein or fruit in sight. Room and overall building did appear clean, however the floor and wall near/under heat/A/C unit had gotten wet, floor was rotted and soft. Pillows were hard and extremely lumpy. Shower rod was falling off of the wall.

My husband and I have been coming to this hotel the last 3 years, We have had nothing but good service. Room was excellent, staff was very helpful. Very conveinent to nearby shopping and to the race Track. We are coming back next year!!!

I thought this hotel would be average for motels in this price range, but it was not in good shape. I expected it to be old, but it was in worse condition than any motel I have ever stayed at. The carpet was moist to the touch and there was mold on the floor and walls. It is not somewhere I would stay again.

We were given a room with a handicapped accessible bathroom, which had no tub, only a shower with a peeling wooden bench beneath the shower head. There was no water pressure. There was a drain in the middle of the bathroom floor that was depressed about an inch with sharp edges around the hole. I twisted my ankle in it twice walking to the bathroom […] in the middle of the night. The toilet kept clogging, and we had to plunge it ourselves. The remote looked nasty and was missing the battery cover on the back. The room was tiny. It had poor road access, requiring a lot of U-turns and backtracking to get there. This Microtel is a decent choice if you plan to have a short stay. There are several restaurants in the area that are great to eat at. Even if you have a nonsmoking room it is easily possible to smell the smoke coming from other rooms/ areas of the hotel. The carpet, chair, and the window cushions were visibly dirty. The hallways had a smoky smell. The room is small, but it was okay. The location is great to UNCC where I was doing business. I didn't spend much time in the room except to sleep, so it was okay, but you only get what you pay for.
