If you get a room next to the lift it will be noisy. Despite how charming the old gated/cage lift is it make a terrible racket everytime it is opened or closed. Also, during my stay one of the staff forgot to close the door of the lift while it was on the ground floor. It wouldn't work so I had to walk down 4 flights of stairs. Plus the air conditioner […] made a irritating noise and I couldn't stop it. I didn't report it because I was there only two days. Stayed here for only three nights but loved it! Only about 4 blocks from Knightsbridge tube stop and on Sloane Street (all the best boutiques, Chanel, Dior, Prada, etc). Very safe and pretty neighborhood. Had my wallet stolen while shopping around one day and was in serious need of a drink when I got back late that night. We loved our five day "Boxing" week at the Cadogen. It was our first trip to London and we felt so lucky to be in such a lovely neighborhood and convenient to two tube stops. The hotel still has its old London charm, while everything is updated with care. Barbara and the entire hotel staff were extremely helpful, from New Years Eve dinner reservations […] to touring recommendations. They immediately took care of minor issues we had with the toilet and TV in our room and made us feel at home. The staff was so accomodating to us. We had not stayed there before. We were upgraded to a junior suite but it was close to the staff's elevator and they immediately switched us over to a beautiful large, for London, room with 3 large windows overlooking the park. On the plus side -- EVERY Cadogan Hotel employee (and outside contractor) does try to be very helpful and housekeeping is excellent. BUT, the physical plant leaves much to be desired. My first room -- the air conditioner was broken; an in-room replacement broken; another in-room AC needed to be vented out an open window. Next room AC leaked into my […] closet on the third night. Room safe was defective. Phone line lost calls as there was a loose connection. Toilet was repaired in two places (it should have been replaced). Television in first room not working (TV tech did everything to help but to no avail). TV in second room not working last 5 nights -- installing a new system. Carpets in the 2nd floor hallway need replacement. Chair in the computer room needs to be replaced with an "appropriate" desk chair. If you require a firm mattress this in not the place for you. Elevator is "charming" but often not available as the lobby floor door is left open. Went for coffee at Langtry's (their restaurant) my first morning. WOW, what a rip-off. Had regular plain coffee which I new would be expensive in a hotel restaurant. BUT, I was astonished when I received my bill only to find out that I was charged by the pour -- 12.83 pounds (almost $20) for two plain cups of regular coffee. When I asked about it the waitress noted that she did not charge me for a third cup when she topped off my second cup. If you end up here, walk to Sloane Square for coffee. Read more

They also serve tea in the sitting rooms in the afternoon. Very nice. There are bus and tube stations very close to the hotel. We took the bus most of the time so we could see the scenery. It is slower than the tube but much more interesting. The hotel is located on a street of designer shops so walking is also very pleasant...for looking. First the positives: The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and totally obliging. We arrived hours before check-in time, but the ladies at the front desk hustled to get a room ready for us. The concierges Mike and Richie, who double as porters, were full of good advice about directions, places to eat etc. The night staff cheerfully filled my wife's hot […] water bottle nightly. Bus stops in either direction were steps from the front door, with a good selection of routes. Knightsbridge, 5 minutes' walk in one direction and Sloane Sq./the King's Rd. the same distance in the other, offer a great shopping, restaurant and bar choices. Our rear-facing room was perfectly quiet (though rooms in the front probably had Sloane St. traffic noise.) But now the negatives: The room was small and the hotels's designers clearly believed that guests could live out of their suitcases. Space to store clothes consisted of two shallow drawers under the small wardrobe, which had a safe and ironing board eating up space inside. Toilet and basin were so close that 2 people could not comfortably use them at once. Furniture showed multiple scars. Towels were thin and grey. Basin faucets leaked onto the floor; the razor socket had no power, was fixed and then gave out again. The circuit breakers blew one evening, leaving most lights out. We did not use the restaurant or the attractive public lounge. To sum up: Loved the people and location; maintenance and furnishings were sadly lacking. Read more

We very much enjoyed our three nights at the Cadogan Hotel. The room was a good size, not too small, and the bathroom was clean. The sink was large, but there wasn't much space to put things like bathroom bags, etc. We had a corner room - lots of windows. Sloane Street had some convenient bus stops a block from the hotel. It was an easy walk to Harrod's […] or to King's Road. Despite being fairly central, there was little traffic noise through the night. Perhaps the double windows helped with this. We had a great meal in Langtry's Restaurant - the meal we had in London. Quite pricey, but everything was fresh and well-prepared. The room could use a bit of attention - the handle on one of the drawers came off in my hand. The housekeepers came in every evening for a turn-down service and brought fresh bottles of water. The morning newspaper is delivered in a cloth bag hung on the outside of the door. I would definitely stay there again. And the interesting connection to Lillie Langtry and Oscar Wilde was fun too. We loved this hotel. My mother and I stayed while attending the Chelsea Flower Show. The hotel was very conveniently located to the venue. Each and every staff member at the hotel was friendly and helpful. The decor was beautiful and the atmosphere so charming. The Oscar Wilde connection was a pleasant surprise. The only struggle we had a few times […] was in finding inexpensive places to eat. Grabbing quick take-out coffees in the morning was not easy. We finally learned: EAT shops are a great place to find inexpensive and delicious, fresh sandwhiches and coffee. There are a couple within walking distance of the Cadogan, one right across from Harrod's. Also, we loved the Gloucester Pub, which is a couple of blocks away on Sloane Street - ask the front desk - we had a really affordable and delicious pub meal on our last night in London, wishing we had found it earlier. Also, a word of caution about using credit cards in restaurants. Unfortunately we were victims of credit card skimming (our card number was stolen and used for a 9000.00 spending spree). The credit card fraud investigation traced the theft to a restaurant on nearby Beauchamp Place - an upscale strip of shops and restaurants which was highly recommended so we were very disappointed and shocked that this happened - travel tip: never let your credit card out of your sight, even to pay your meal bill. Overall, the Cadogan was a great pick. The theft was an unrealted stroke of bad luck that could happen in any city. Read more

It was great to have the opportunity to upgrade to a deluxe rate at a discounted rate (the hotel emailed a couple of days in advance of my stay and the custom upgrade was confirmed on arrival).
