Good for an overnight or a couple of days stay. Location is ideal, lots of shops, coffee shops, restaurants and a short walk to inner city area.

Only complaint I had was that the thermostat in my room didn't work too well. Girls at check-in were friendly and great. They provided a high quality of service for a boutique. Great location with easy access to downtown but in a trendy neighborhood with local bars and restaurants. I would stay here again for business.

This was a refreshing departure from the standard hotel experience. Victoria was super helpful (two others were as well, but am so sorry to forget names!), and the free breakfast was delicious. The queen-bed was comfortable and the room had just the right feel, in terms of decor and temperature. Nice closet with hanging and shelf space. A small set […] of drawers are enough for a few days' stay. Tall folks will love the shower space, the soaking tub is awesome, and the Aveda products and cotton swabs/balls for make-up removal a really nice touch. This is a really cool neighborhood within 10-minute walk of the more party-atmosphere and tourist-traveled downtown Calgary area (ie., Stephen Avenue or 17th Street). A quick ride on the C-Train or walk over the bridge, and you are there! Amazing jewelry and clothing at two nearby boutiques, Queens Boutique and Purr. Tthere are several cool bars and restaurants (Muse & Zevo) within a block radius. And don't forget to get a cupcake at Crave.....yum. The ONLY suggestions for improvement I have, are extremely minor when the entire positive experience is considered, but here goes: A few paint touch-ups on doors & baseboard moldings go a long way in terms of perceived quality, and some kind of storage for toiletries in the bathroom would be great. There is construction going on across the street, so if a light sleeper, keep in mind. However, I slept right through. I was hesitant staying at such a small hotel on a recent business trip but these folks run a better facility than most of the big hotels. Very comfortable, very clean and great service. Parking, internet and breakfast were included in my rate.m I highly recommend.

The birds on the river made noise for two nights in a row and there was a choice between a room that was too hot or opening a window and sharing the cackle of the birds over on the Bow River all night long. Otherwise, this is a fine hotel and that may just be a seasonal issue during mass migration.

On day 2 of our visit the room had not been serviced and the bed not made up. Breakfast service was unacceptably slow. Only one cook and one server. Disappointing stay. Previous experience was excellent.

We enjoyed freshly brewed coffee delivered to our door each morning, Bernard Callebaut chocolates at turn down, Aveda bath products, and a gas fireplace in the room. We traveled with our 8 month old daughter and found the inn to be very accommodating to families. Stayed July 26, room 209. --- Pros: It's a close taxi ride to downtown, the hotel has a very clean look, personnel were very polite and the room was clean. Cons: Maintenance in the room causes a few problems. The window handle was broken so it wouldn't close so we were awoken by traffic all night... The fireplace didn't work, the large picture window […] drapes won't close due to a broken adjuster. The bathroom fan was broken and there was some minor drywall damage. Kensington Inn is a sentimental favorite of mine since it is in my old neighbourhood and I have stayed there before. I spoke with one of the Innkeepers to ensure that yes, they are replacing the now past their prime carpets. This will help restore the Kensington Inn to its past luxe look. Service at this hotel is impeccable and the food is simply fantastic […] although pricey to say the least. Here are the benefits of staying: remarkably good location for walking around hip Kensington and for doing business downtown (you could easily walk with good shoes). The included breakfast is lovely, reasonable choices and made to order. Parking is only 12 dollars a day underground in a city where parking is routinely 35 dollars per day and in winter underground parking is a great option. The staff are wonderfully accommodating and will go out of the way if asked. Patio service was exemplary and the patio and interior are decorated in a luxe modern way. The downsides: the interior of the second floor now needs a reno, mostly just the carpeting. In the rooms, there are not enough accessible outlets for the modern day travellers host of electronics. A reachable power bar behind the head of the bed would help for those of us who want to put our feet up AND work. Evening meals, while truly gourmet and wonderful, are breathtakingly expensive. All in all, I will stay here again and I enjoyed my stay, will be glad when the upgrading is done. Read more

This is a very friendly hotel, the place feel cozy and nicely decorated. The room is very comfortable except it was a bit too warm for me, cannot turn the heat off.. The restaurant had good food, highly recommended to try the restaurant, but prepare to paid... i do like the hotel and the friendly staff, would stay there again.

My stay at the Kensington Riverside Inn was fantastic. Myroom was well appointed had a 42 inch flat screen tv, fireplace, comfortable bed and overall great service. My only criticism is that the hotel wifi did not always work. The hotel is located near great restaurants and shopping. I would stay here again.

We have stayed in this hotel twice in the last month and would highly recommend it. Its location is convenient, not only to the city but an easy drive to the hospitals and University. It is small and therefore personal with very efficient and friendly staff and and excellent dining room. The hotel looks much nicer on the site than in real life. Reno's have not been completed in the rooms. The tea/coffee service seems great unless you're a tea drinker, the containers all taste like coffee. Joe was excellent at the front desk, Peter acted as though he was doing you a favour if you asked him a question. Breakfast that was included was […] excellent. The room temperature was very hard to control and the carpet looked dirty. Overall the neighbourhood was amazing, muse the restaurant next door was AMAZING - as was a coffee shop across the street. Kensington is a super cute neighborhood, way more laid-back and youthful than other parts of Calgary that we saw. We were able to walk to downtown and to the warehouse area near 11th ave. We really can't say enough about the property. It was beautiful, and the amenities were so very nice, including the bath salts and the complimentary water. Also, the […] wine fridge in the room is stocked, and you can purchase bottles for a very reasonable price. The fact that the bathrobes came in medium and large was also a nice touch, as it perfectly suited me and my husband. And, thank you, Kensington, for free parking... what an odd luxury these days! The location is fantastic and the underground parking is such a bonus. The Inn accommodated our request for a quiet room with a fireplace which we very much appreciated. Good sized room with lots of closet space, large bathroom (huge tub) and a balcony. Wonderful hotel. Classy atmosphere and comfortable. Staff were very gracious. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel accomodated our late check-in, and late check-out making our stay very convenient for us. Our only complaint was that parking (underground) was small and cramped.

We arrived to a rushed reception and were informed they were understaffed. This was the refrain for our 3 days. Why have not enough staff? People not like the stay? We never received any bed linen changes and had to beg 4 times on the second day for clean towels and a room servicing. With no in room coffee making, the coffee they provided was cool […] and the milk was bad one morning. The huge TV have such poor cable service that there is no use of them. The A/C was not working and our room stank of the the kitchen and we were refused a move to a non-reeking room (first salmon, then chicken, then...whatever was the chef's special). A great place for a meal, but a lousy place otherwise. Exception: view out the window of downtown Calgary. But they are constructing something across the street, which was noisy and dirty. Read more

Lovely boutique hotel for the first two nights of a tour of Alberta and British Columbia. Staff are very friendly, personable and helpful. Excellent all-inclusive breakfast, very clean and comfortable rooms with plenty of amenities. Would recommend this hotel to anyone PS Close to Kensington but quite a walk to downtown.
