"Munich hidden deal....minutes to trains"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
Wonderful little hotel around the corner from the train station. Friendly staff and great breakfast. The one negative: if you are on the lower floors 1 or 2 in a street side room the noise can be bothersome. The hotel is located across the street from a cafe (not bar) that stays open late. The night we stayed was the first really warm spring night of the season so I believe the locals were enjoying sitting outside the cafe until all hours. Unfortunately for all a fight broke out at 2 am waking us up. NOT the fault of the hotel. Just ask for a room higher up on in the back. I will be staying there again!!
"A bit far out of city center and hard too find"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
Walked from the S-bahn and got lost! After getting off the S-bahn at Laim go through the tunnel under the tracks and stay on Wotanstrabe and take a left when it splits after Walhallstrabe. The hotel staff was very helpful in guiding us through our planned itinerary of Munich. It is in quiet neighborhood but since it was so far out we didn't spend to much time in our room. We got stopped by the transit police and had to pay a 40 euro fine for not buying the correct train pass. So be advised.

"What a great hotel !"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
The room was spacious and very clean, the service is excellent and the location is just where you need to be to visit and enjoy Munich! They upgraded me to a deluxe room for free and the breakfast buffet is just amazing.. what else ?! Be back soon for the oktoberfest :-)

Just west of the old town, the area around the main station is crammed with hotels and pedestrian areas filled with shops. Further north is the city's museum district, which is home to the Alte and Neue Pinakothek, the Pinakothek der Moderne, the restored Glypothek, the Museum of Antiquities, and the Lenbachhaus, which exhibits the work of Bavarian painter Franz von Lenbach.

I was surprised and disappointed by the quality of this hotel--I expected far more based on the reviews I had read. I arrived at about 10 a.m., and was told that no room would be ready before 2 p.m. No offer to store luggage--I had to ask. The lobby was run-down, and the restroom area on the lower level reeked of smoke. I waited for about an hour in […] the lobby (they did let me have an internet code) and then saw that others who had arrived after me were being given a room. I asked again and this time they did find one for me. The room was large and light (a plus), but the furniture was scarred and worn. The bathroom was not very clean--I ended up cleaning areas of the bathroom with wipes just to feel OK using it. I called the reception a couple of times with questions, and always felt that it was a big imposition--no sense of friendly service. One woman at the reception was more helpful than the guys, who seemed as if they couldn't care less. I don't mind a hotel being a little run-down, but not being cleaned right and no spirit of helpfulness rates very low in my book. I wouldn't return to or recommend this hotel. Read more
"Good Hotel for the Price"
My husband and I spent our last night in Munich at the Regent Hotel. The staff was great, the lobby was nice, and the breakfast was great. The proximity to the Marienplatz and everything else around Munich was great -- just a short walk away. The room was sparse (as most of them are in Germany); however, there were stains on the chair in the room and […] the floor in the bathroom wasn't completely clean. Other than that it was a good hotel for the money and despite being across from the train station, was very quiet for sleeping at night. I would stay there again. Read more
Great location-Attentive staff-Clen and comfortable rooms
"Regents in München"
The hotel is in a convenient location. The lobby is nice while the rooms feel bare and needing some touch up. Our impression was that it would be nicer than it actual was but that it was adequate.

"Adequate, but Convenient"
An older hotel near the main train station. Furniture/furnishings are a little dated, but clean in general. Very short walk to the hotel, which makes it convenient for a quick stay overnight.
"The hotel Regent in Munchen"
The stayed room is old fashion. It is very difficult to access the internect connection.
"Great Munich Stay"
Excellent location (one block from the D-Bahn S-trains). Large clean comfortable room and bath, well maintained. Helpful staff. Excellent breakfast inc. in the pre-pay Hotels.com reservation. Will be my first choice next time in Munich. Was there in January so no comment for hot-weather conditions. Winter stay was comfortable in every way.
"The Regent Hotel Munich - Close to all you need"
The hotel was clean, the breakfast was good and it was within walking distance of the Train Station and the City Centre. It was a great choice for what we were looking to do which was to see the sights of Munich and use as a base for day trips in Bavaria. The only downside was that the beds in our room were very firm.

"convenient and nice"
This is a very conveniently located hotel with good service and the internet is free!
"Nice, convenient but overpriced"
We stayed in the Regent hotel for the opening weekend of Octoberfest, so we expected the price to be high. The location is fantastic - across the street from the rail station and about 4 blocks from Octoberfest and the central square. Loved it. The breakfast was very overpriced. It was a nice breakfast - sausage, eggs, pastry etc. but the price was […] way too much. Nevertheless, it was in a great location and I would return. Read more

"Bigger than my apartment..."
Seriously, I did a last minute cheap booking, and this place was HUGE. Nice room. Parking in the area is a pain, but there are a few garages right next door. By train though, you're at your front door. You're right by the red light district, but it's not at all unsafe.

"Great Breakfast"
This hotel had an amazing breakfast buffet included into the price of the room. Internet was also included which was great. Prefect location, around the block from the train station and within walking distance to popular Munich tourist attractions.

"Nice Hotel"
I stayed at hotel for one night while in Munich for concert. The hotel is located direction across the street from the main train station. The room was clean and comfortable. The room was rather large for a European hotel. Also, the room had a separate bathroom (some European hotels have the bathroom as part of the room). The hotel did not have any […] type of room service. We returned to the hotel late and needed to order food. We were told that we could get food at the lobby bar. However, there was no food available. I would recommend this hotel to a friend. It’s a nice hotel in a convenient location. Read more
"Hotel Regent in Munich, Germany"
Nice hotel. Sort of difficult to find hotel entrance. But we did find it, and how to get to it. Parking is underneath the hotel. We walked to do laundry and to find a restaurant. Both close by.

Front desk people were unfriendly.
"Regent Hotel in Munich"
Room was very small. Everything needs upgrading. Carpets are stained, everything smells old and smoky. I would not recommend staying at this hotel to anyone. Completely overpriced.
"Old Run Down Terrible Hotel"
No way this is a 4 star hotel.
"Overall, a good place"
We booked a general suite as it was very inexpensive, and the room was very large, and had free wi-fi. Only problem was, we thought breakfast was included & was told so upon check-in, but found out otherwise in the morning. When told we weren't on the list, we weren't even offered the option of paying for breakfast, so not sure if that's an option or […] not. If you're coming in to the main train station in Munich, it's a very easy walk, even with a backpack. Read more
"Not Recommended"
The hotel was in a great location, however the accomondations were lacking. The first room we had was moldy, unrenovated and had lots of street noise due to our having to leave the windows open to air out the room. Unfortunately, they had no other availability the first evening, but the staff gave us a different (renovated) room the second evening. […] Although the second room was more attractive, the bathroom emitted a urine smell that we could not get rid of eventhough we bought cleaner and tried to clean it ourselves, thus we had to sleep with the windows open again and until after 1am had nosie from the bar across the alley way. Overall the staff was nice except at the restaurant (breakfast buffet) where the waitress was rude and inefficient, and the accomondations were lacking. Needless to say, we would not stay at the Regent again. Read more
"Stay away"
Stayed 2 days in this hotel thank god no more. No air conditioning room stuffy and when you open window to breath street noise prevents you from sleeping. Location is over rated. Staff not helpful
"GREAT HOTEL"
The hotel was everything we expected it to be. The service was great. The rooms were very comfortable and very clean. My only complaint is that I wasn't able to stay there longer. The breakfast was my favorite of all the hotels I stayed in during my travels throughout Europe. If Im ever in Munich again, I will certainly return to the Regent Hotel.
"Stiff Bed"
This hotel was ok, but the bed was the hardest thing I have ever experienced. I like first beds, but this was like sleeping on the box springs its self. Would not recommend for that reason alone, everything else was great.
"TERRIBLE HOTEL"
FOR A LESS THAN 1 STAR HOTEL THIS WILL BE A GOOD STAY

"Great location, terrible stay"
The location was great, right next to the main train station and close to the biergartens. However, the actual hotel was terrible. There is no AC, which was miserable when it's 90F outside. The shower wasn't working, and the hotel wouldn't fix it. They finally came and had to really mess with it before the water came out of the shower head, but the […] guy was very rude. Maybe in the winter time it's tolerable, but in the summer time it's miserable. Read more
"Great location"
This is my second time at the regent. My recomendation is to go with the 2 room suite. Only like 15-20 more dollars and 3-4 times the size the normal double room was nice and functional like most european rooms however if u want a room that makes most american hotels look bad then get the two room triple. I will stay here again. This hotel is right […] next to the Hauptbahnhof or for you that dont know the central trainstation. and about 1.5 kilometers from the marianplatz excellent breakfast (fruhstuck) and has parking. The hotel also has a great little cafe on the street, and withing two blocks either way their are a number of fine dinning restruants like the zwieble stube and beer gartens like augustiner keller. go here!!!!! "Largest room we've had in Europe"
The room was huge, which is a rarity in Europe. The bathroom was nice too. A little ratty in the maintenance department but nothing I couldn't live with. The bed was super comfortable, and the train station was very close by.
"Okay"
If you are not use to European Hotels you will be all over this Hotel because of little things like size of elevators and little things like that. Excellent location two minute walk to the Main Train Station. I was there for Oktoberfest and only a 10 minute walk to there. No internet AT ALL which is bad in this day and age. Luckily a happened to find […] a free hotspot in my room from a near-by business, but had to sit by the window for a very low signal, but it worked. They do need at least a guest access computer in the lobby. Staff great bilingual and very friendly. Would stay again and recommend to others. Read more
"Centrally Located BUT Too Pricy for Hotel condition"
Great Location. - Great Location - Great Location. This Hotel is close to everything. Across from the Central Train Station and in the middle of the City Center. Too price for Hotel condition and rooms are very small.

"Bar"
Bar had dirty draft lines and the Lowenbrau tasted bad
"Okay Hotel- average"
Hotel is very close to the Train Station and easy walking distance to city sights in Old town. Room small but comfortable, clean, and well serviced. We were disappointed that breakfast was additional and expensive(15 euros) and that internet service was not free, even though wireless connection is available in room, they charged alot to link up.
"A good stay in Munich"
We had a group of 6 pax and stayed in 3 rooms at the Regent Hotel in late April 2012. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only setback was the rooms were a bit stuffy as the weather was pretty warm. We had to open the windows during the night
"Regent Hotel in Munich"
The hotel was nice and the staff was friendly. The location next to the central railway station was maybe not the prettiest one but very convenient getting into the old town. The hotel lobby has a very luxorious feeling!
"Great location"
Great location, friendly people. Had good time staying in munich for 3 niights. Reason why i choose that hotel cos its near by train station. Ppl are nice and friendly. Breakfast was also okay. I'd like to recommand this hotel to my friend
"Regent Hotel Munich"

"Good value for money"
Central, works well, no fancyness, good value for money
"Regent hotel Munich - Location Vs Quality"
All seem OK at a glance: rather nice room, good location etc. However, room smell tobacco, bathroom taps do not function properly and there is an overall feeling of lack of maintenance (bottom of doors out of shape, etc.). Very slow internet connection.

"Regent Hotel Munich no Airconditioning."
Only drawback was the lack of airconditionaing. We were in Munich in August 2011 and it was pretty warm .This from West Australians who are well accustomed to hea. We couldnt get a fan on the first night , the hotelk didnt have enough for those who wanted one. A small investment in fans to make sure all guests are able to have on in unseasonally hot […] weather would not go amiss Read more
