La Corona would be a nice place to stay if their beds were not like sleeping on a bed of gravel. The rest of the service could use some work too. Such as, when I secured this room I was under the impression that it was paid in full, but, when I arrived, very, very, tired I had to pay out more money to get into the room and then pay extra for the breakfast we had. I hope they will fix these things then I woulf consider a revisit to them.

I chose this hotel for its central location and was not disappointed. Everything I wanted was just a walk away: restaurants, turo-turo and other street food, very many banks, a karaoke bar, a mall and supermarket, etc. Some historical places are also nearby or just a jeepney ride away, and it's surrounded by embassies if you happen to need to visit one of those. I stayed in a suite on the upper floors, which was nice and large and had a corner balcony just wide enough to stand in to watch the sunset. They offer a good breakfast buffet, serving various hot dishes such as galunggong, scrambled eggs, tocino, bacon, soup or congee, rice, breads, fresh fruit and juice. The available items changed slightly each day so it did not become tedious during an extended stay. In-room Internet access worked well, and they had some 110V sockets in the room so you don't need a converter for American electrical appliances. The bathroom included a nice large tub and a hand bidet hose. They have one of the tiniest elevators I've ever seen, a quaint antique type with the metal lattice that slides to the side (but if you're in a hurry, it might be quicker to take the stairs). The staff were always pleasant and helpful and able to recommend places to go and things to do and see. The room overlooked an intersection that was busy 24 hours per day, yet blocked out most of the traffic noise. By far, the biggest drawback was the disturbance from the mosque across the street, with wails bellowing from a loudspeaker throughout the day but starting at 4:30 IN THE MORNING.

I felt like I was a millionaire because of the very courteous service I received at this hotel. This place has old world class. I wish all hotels could be so great. Check in was done quickly and I was assisted up the old antique elevator (after I used the stairs, though), I ate a nice dinner in their hotel restaurant. I couldn't finish all my food, so they were kind enough to pack it up for me to have if I got hungry later in my room. The room was beautifully decorated with dark wood and a large bed. The bathroom was very clean and had a rainwater-type shower head. There were many mirrors in the room, which served to make the room feel bigger. The buffet breakfast next morning was really great - it had a good selection and really filled me up. They have a small travel desk where they give advice on places to see in Manila. The man at the desk was very helpful with giving me directions. All in all, this hotel is VERY good. I was given the BEST service I have EVER had in any hotel in the world. Top Quality and HIGHLY recommended.

I have stayed at several high end hotels in the Manila area recently and although this hotel was not a 4 star hotel it was a great value. Unlike all the other hotels I have stayed at, this one provided internet and full buffet breakfast for free. The room was neat and clean and it had a good hot shower. The noise from the hallway and other rooms was noticeable, but it was not that bad and I got use to it. I will be staying here again when I return to the Philippines.

Other than the very thin mattress this hotel is perfect. Hotel car was very useful and not expensive. It is an old neighborhood and if you are looking for modern and affluent in your surroundings you will not find that here. It is an easy walk to the US Embassy and traffic is not a big issue. The hotel car can get you to the mall of Asia or the airport quickly and easily. There is no waiting for transportation. The food is very good and they have a little internet cafe right there in the restaurant area if you need to communicate. They do not nickel and dime you either. Everyone is freindly and helpful. Hallway noise does intrude into the room but that was an issue only once... I would recommend this hotel for anyone but the very demanding ..but for the price I will use this hotel on my next visit.

All the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was a very nice mix of local and foreign. The rooms were very smart and clean. The air-con units rattled a little but you soon got used to them. You always got a `good morning` out of the staff, which was nice.

Must be the best bathroom in a 3 star hotel. Inclusive buffet breakfast of good quality and good variety, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Internet access via XP or Mac available in an alcove of the dining room (the first 15 minutes free, although no charge was made for being online longer; printouts P10 a sheet). Dining in on an evening reasonably priced and average quality although the house wine was awful and expensive.

I was disappointed because i thought i would get a nicer bed then we got. My reservations was for a king size bed and instead we got a queen. We had too complain to the hotel and they finally gave us a king size bed but it was not the room we had requested. It was a foam matteress and not a real materess with srings in it. the shower slways overflowed to the drain in the flow by the toilet.

La Corona is a very nice hotel in old town Manila and the room and the service is very good. The room charge per night is very modest. The only negative to be aware of is the charge for the cab service to and from the airport which can vary widely from 100 to 800 pesos. Always ask before taking a cab what the charge is since the cab drivers can and do take advantage of Americans.
