"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Affordable Quickie in NY"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.
""Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.
"Nice hotel in the theatre district"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel in the theatre district. Friendly and helpful staff. Basic room accomodations but very clean. Would recommend.

"Pretty but noisy, stay away from room 508."
The room was cute as a button, but the noise was ridiculous. I've lived in New York and never heard outside noise that went on for hours outside the hotel like I did at this hotel. Additionally, there was the noise behind the headboard of our bed that was incessant and had a persistent pattern. Stay away from room 508! The receptionist didn't ask about […] my stay when I checked out , so here I am posting. Enjoy your stay! Read more
The hotel is very run-down, but the employees are very nice and the room was comfortable and quiet. The location was very good, but I would recommend a face-lift if it is to compete in price with the Raddisson and Marriott hotels right next door.

The hotel was definitely "run down" regarding the room itself but the towels were very nice and the bathroom was very clean. It definitely needs a facelift, and I don't see how it was rated with 3 stars. On the positive side, since it is a small hotel, it was very quiet and I was able to open the windows in the room, which was a nice touch, since it […] was pretty warm when I was there. Because of the good location, a lot could be done by changing the carpeting in the rooms and elevators, and sprucing up the lobby. The staff was very nice and available. Read more

"Noisy bed"
We booked a queen room but got 2 double bed instead. The metal head boards banged on the wall which got loud. Otherwise great location, comfortable beds & good staff
"Roger Smith Hotel in New York"
The beds were not comfortable, and the bed frams was moving alot. Airconditioner was not cooling the room. TV monitor was not in the room and we call for the remote and they couldn't give a spare.

"Loud"
Hard to sleep with noise from Lexington Interior very beat up
"Excellent location"
Greatly enjoyed our stay. Staff very helpful. Will stay here again without hesistation.
"Cozy"
It was cozy, if you can get over the stale cigarette smell!
"Deluxe Suite is the way to go!"
By a stroke of luck, I got the deluxe suite for throwaway price for the weekend. So we enjoyed having all that space right in the middle of the city!! My baby did not feel crammed in a tiny hotel room and that was helpful. Everything about the hotel is old. Everything is very clean but its old. The ac was centrally controlled - no control inside the […] room. The tiny fridge was old and barely cold. All the milk I had for the baby went sour!!! I did hear noises from a party nearby but considering its NYC and that we were in a central location, I was not expecting tranquility! Overall, the experience was good. Great location, clean rooms. Expect to see old furniture, appliances, doors/window/beds etc etc but they are all clean. If you can get the deluxe suite and have a family with you, just go for it. It will be worth the space!! "Convenient location with a lot of charm"
I found the hotel delightful. Staff was freindly, room was clean and comfortable. Location is great.
"Home away from Home"
This hotel is a joy. The front desk staff are all friendly and competent. After a few stays, they are almost like family. I met a woman this trip who has been staying there for 20 years and still comes back every year. Lily's restaurant just off the lobby is open for breakfast by 6:30 am and the bar is open until 10 on weekdays. The Lexington Brass […] restaurant and bar in the next block has great food up to Midnight, too. Read more

"Roger Smith Hotel in Manhatten"
This is an old hotel which provided a surprisingly welcoming experience. Don't expect shiny new but you ought to anticipate an old-time atmosphere with friendly service from "real" people. We were even given an impromptu late-night tour of the upper parts of the hotel and roof (twice!) Prompt response to requests; very good breakfast service (when speed […] really was essential), convenient location. In fact, the sorts of features that I look for in a quality hotel--and at a very attractive rate. In some ways, discovering that such a fine and venerable hotel could be found in Manhatten DID add that extra something to my family's trip. Read more
"Pleasantly surprised"
At the price I thought it would be a dump, but it was just right. The staff was lovely, room clean and nicely appointed, good bathroom products (including toothbrush). Hotel was silent. My bed was a little rickety and when I first arrived the room was unbearably hot, which they fixed. Windows opened. Pleasant restaurant. Overall a great value in a perfect […] location for me. "Comfy, cozy and convenient"
As always, my stay at the Roger Smith was fantastic. Loved the artful touches even in the designs in the marble bath tile. Staff was fantastic and it was easy and convenient even in the snow and ice storm. Lily is a good restaurant off the lobby and Starbucks next door. What's not to love?
"NYC's Best Kept Hotel Secret"
This hotel has excellent ambience at a reasonable price for the intelellectually or artisticallly inclined. Books in the room for you to read and an interesting video library!! (But CD players are only available in the suites--come on, Roger Smith , you can do better!). The Lexington Ave location near to Grand Central and the UN and excellent dining […] is also a big plus. The feeling in the hotel is cosy almost family-like and the staff are friendly. Apart from the CD player absence, after getting your interest up from the list of movies on loan, the only other problem I noticed was that hot water in the shower runs hot and cold--as if the next room is drawing hot water when its on over there! "Very convenient"
Great location other than the street traffic noise. Valet parking very reasonable for midtown. Would definitely stay here again.
"Christmas 2012"
My daughter's and I stayed 2 nights at the Roger Smith. The rooms were clean, with modern bath and comfortable. The location is pretty good with respect to close proximity to Grand Central Station (Subways). The price was reasonable, and definitely less than if we had stayed in Times Square.
"Great hotel"
Location and price was just right - you certainly made our Christmas Holiday shine! We stayed 3 nights, the room was nice and quite. The restaurant on first floor served a very nice and tasteful breakfast. We stayed 3 nights

"Roger Smith Hotel - clean, safe, friendly staff"
I stayed at the Roger Smith Hotel for 2 nights before Christmas. A family member was having surgery at a facility on the upper east side, and I needed to be as close to everything as I could. I was able to get a really good rate, considering the holiday, and a last minute booking. The hotel itself is old, but updated somewhat. The staff was very accommodating […] and friendly. Rooms were good sized for NYC, and clean. The TV was old, and the room air conditioning/heat unit was very noisy, and the room was too warm, even with the temperature turned down. I would stay here again, and recommend it to others. Read more
"Nice but noisy"
Our room faced Lexington Avenue, and I didn't think there would be so much traffic noise on a Sunday night. Bring your earplugs. Otherwise it was fine.
"Roger Smith Hotel, New York"
The Roger Smith Hotel is excellent value. Close to the UN, Chrysler Building, Grand Central Station and excellent shopping, it's perfectly located. Staff were friendly and breakfast was excellent. It has an understated elegance reminiscent of former times. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
"A Pleasant Stay"
It was definitely what I needed for my husband and I. A quick get away for his birthday in Mahattan...we live in the Bronx...so it was a train stop away. We hopped on the Metro North and, got off at Grand Central Station...it was that easy. We got a room on the 15th floor with great views. I was able to meet friends and, family for lunch and, get a […] mani/pedi right across the street from the hotel. It is very convenient and the location is a fanastic area near times square and, all the theatre's. I will be reserving a room next year. Read more
"not bad for the price"
Location is pretty good, overall. The price is what makes it a good option - but the interior is very old-fashioned. Was a bit of a shock at first. It's not in rough shape, but just has an old feel to it.

"The Roger Smith Hotel"
Great value. A little bit of street noise, but comfortable clean large rooms.
"funky place in a great location"
It's a cross between your grandmother's house and a funky art gallery - in a great location. If sleek and modern is what you're seeking in a room then don't stop here. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
"Room was hot"
It was unseasonably warm when we stayed at the hotel room and were unable to control the heat. Opening the window was not an option because the room faced Lexington Ave which is very noisy. At 3am we tried for a few minutes but got fed up after hearing someone repeatedly scream "Jose" at the top of their lungs for 10 minutes. My recommendation to others […] is conditional - make sure your room doesn't face Lexington Ave or watch the weather. Read more
"Best deal in the area"
Very clean hotel, in a great location. The staff was really nice. Got upgraded in a very cozy and comfortable suite. This is a old style hotel, you'll enjoy it if you don't get bothered by the steam heater and little rust in the water. We'll definitely come back!

"Very cozy and nice"
We had a warm and charmingly decorated room. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I would stay there again and recommend it for those who need a good night's sleep in a clean friendly hotel and are not looking for too many extras as we were.
"Hotel Roger Smith in New York"
First room was right off of elevator. Took some coaxing to get the clerk to find us a room that would be quieter. He came through and upgraded our room to what they consider a suite - which was a room that included a couch and coffee table. Room was clean and comfortable, but smelled pretty strong of cigarette smoke, despite being a non-smoking room. […] For the money and decent location for our plans in the city, was an ok value. Though, if budget is not an issue for you, would recommend you spring to stay somewhere else. Read more
"Roger Smith: Opulent rooms with older plumbing"
We were greeted most cordially and upgraded to a suite from a 'junior' suite. The furniture was old-fashioned AND very comfortable - even the sofabed got a thumbs up from my teenager. Unfortunately the rooms were VERY hot with radiator heat that could only be adjusted a little. However the bellman came up promptly and turned the fan on in the in-wall […] air conditioner which did help. Shower had plenty of pressure even on 11th floor BUT hot/cold changed back and forth. So if you appreciate an older building, with its ups AND downs you'll love this place. If you want modern plumbing/heating, then not so much. Read more
"Roger Smith Hotel in NY-close to sights"
This hotel is in a great location. Older hotel but clean room with the basics for the price. My only wish is there would have been more water pressure in the shower as it was very minimal.
"Great stay booked last minute"
We had a great time at Roger Smith spent 3 nights over Christmas. The price was certainly right considering comfort and location. The restaurant served a great breakfast - would recommend this hotel to anyone.
