I would not recommend staying at this hotel. After traveling all day when you arrive at a resort you want everything to be in working order. Upon arrival to the hotel the staff was unorganized. Our room smelled of mold and the refrigerator in the room not only was turned off but had standing water and had not been clean. The hotel is under construction […] which was not told to us upon booking. The wires to our TV in the living room were cut due to the construction and we were inconvenienced for 3 hours with maintenence and house keeping coming in and out of the room. Our waitress at the restaurant on their private island was rude and spoke as little as possible to us. First time in Aruba and overall good trip. Hotel is right in downtown and fairly close to many stores, bars and an additional casino to the one in the hotel. The pools were both very nice and the beach, reachable by 15 min boat ride, was nice. Critiques: 1. Food for the all inclusive was ok. It was the same every day despite going to different spots. […] You can only eat so many flatbreads, sliders, and fried stuff. 2. Beaches were just ok. The adult side, Tidal pool, was full of rocks. The family side was full if seaweed. Bartenders at the beach are true professionals and are great people. Very attentive and made our trip. 5. For the transactions you make, despite being all inclusive, all come with a bill (meals, drinks, etc.) there is confusion however when it comes to the service charge added to the bill. Overall we had a pleasant stay but I did have a few things I did not like. We arrived early and they would not budge on the 4pm check in at all. They do not have direct access to the beach. Just came back from an all inclusive stay (6 days, 5 nights) at the Ocean Suites section of the Renaissance Hotel and it was absolutely wonderful and delightful experience. (directing me to any locations that I requested for, choosing any activities, etc) I highly recommend the all inclusive package, as the food was excellent. There is a steakhouse, (one of my favorite places) a phenomenal seafood restaurant that has superior food freshness (my absolutely favorite place, since I love seafood, lobster tails, shrimp, crab cakes, fish, all fresh) and a lot of other restaurants you can go (menus include burgers, quesadillas, chips, salads, a lot of variety! The drinks(mixed) weren't that strong but you can order any quantity you like with the package. (the tropical drinks were delicious). I liked living in the ocean suites, we had a balcony which had a view of the ocean and a lot of palm trees. I found it to be quiet and peaceful which I loved. The bed was super comfortable, and room service did a great job cleaning every day. I noticed that some reviews mentioned that the showers didn't have hot water and that water got all over the place. This hotel had great reviews from Expedia users and convinced me to try it out. The only wonderful thing about it was the location which is downtown and walking distance to so much. HOWEVER, when we first arrived they immediately said I'm sure you are not aware but we are under renovations so the room that we had was not available. For $400 per night […] we had a second floor room with a view of the loading dock and employee entrance. Keeping our balcony doors open was not an option as the room filled with fumes and the loud music coming from the cars picking up employees late at night was not paradise. The first night we realized that our shower had not been clean as it was full of hair and there was no fresh towels. They brought towels but did nothing else. (NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY). The hotel has a pool and then a private island that as you lay on the hammock on the adult side you are blasted with JET ENGINE NOISE from the airport directly located across from the island and then minutes later the strong smell of fumes and burnt rubber! GROSS! Finally, while at the pool one of the days we were there, I had slipped into the water with my husband to just cool off real quick and in a matter of minutes, broad daylight, with people around my beach bag was stolen. I spent a lot of money for very little comfort. The rooms were very old on the Oceanside and needed to be renovated. The bathroom had a drop ceiling in it that had black mold everywhere. We returned to Aruba and this hotel 18 years later. To our pleasure the hotel had been renovated. The rooms were still very spacious and nice for a family of four. Room service options are inferior -- breakfast stops at 11 a.m., so forget about sleeping too late; no room service is available after 11 p.m. so forget about a midnight snack.
