"Hotel OK, Steak House restaurant terrible."
The hotel was clean and room service staff was good. The "adult only" section is on the other side of the road from the waterfront, which is not clearly stated on the website. I was looking forward to a good steak dinner, and got served a $44 porterhouse that was mostly gristle, half raw, and half overcooked. It was so bad I ate seafood for the rest […] of the trip. (The Old Fisherman, Delamar, and Redfish restaurants were all good and the first two are two blocks from the hotel.) The private island swimming is fine, but the restaurant there was filthy. The tables weren't bussed, the floor hadn't been cleaned all day with lizards and birds fighting over the food scraps on the floor. The flies were horrendous - we had to eat with one hand and continuously fan the air with the other hand. This restaurant needs new management, retrained staff, and a powerwashing. The hotel regular restaurant serves a mediocre breakfast, but is at least clean and well-staffed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great location with excellent settings"
We love to stay at the Renaissance. The settings is really beautiful especially the incoming planes. The pool is great with nice confined beaches. Had a wonderful family vacation.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Decent moderate hotel"
I would rate this hotel somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Very close to the airport in downtown, pools are nice and small beach for kids at hotel. The selling point is the private island with very nice beach and bar/restaurant. Very relaxing. Breakfast is fine, the other meals are moderate. We had all inclusive but would not do that again. Airco in bedroom […] was noisy so slept on the sleeper sofa. Rooms in Ocean suites are roomy. Renovations are ongoing but not disturbing. Most of the staff are very nice and friendly. Check bill for internet. I was charged for room connection and had only used wifi by pool and in lobby. they did discount however when mentioned. Overall OK hotel and when we were there peaceful and quiet, so we had a relaxing vacation, but if you are looking for a luxury resort then it is better to go to the high rises.area. "Really nice hotel !!!"
Overall it was a great hotel, great views from our room. My fiance and I stayed at the Marina, and the premises were very well kept. We were satisfied with our hotel, I mean you have a private island and a free boat ride !!Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff and everyone was amazing!!! My husband and I went for a quick getaway the Renassance was convient to shopping;only an $11 cab ride to the Palm Beach area which had a strip of hotels, clubs, fast food chain and upscale restaurants. We choose to only do the breakfast buffet at the hotel ,food was delicious an assortment of breakfast foods. All […] inclusive wasn't necessary if you don't mind traveling to the palm area. I have no complaints about anything and I am very picky and this was an amazing experience if you want to relax and fall in love over and over again. Thank You!!!:) P.S. The adult only side of the island as well as hotel was wonderful and enforced being a mother of five I enjoyed not seeing children running around and absorbing my space lol. It was great to see the staff politely redirect families that wandered onto the adult side of the private island. It was pretty funny because those of us who where parents enjoying or moment would look at each other and laugh as the children where redirected to their area. Everything was just great! My husband and I just returned home from a trip to Aruba. We really did love the resort and it was very beautiful. They are currently undergoing a renovation and I feel like we were the first guests to stay in the newly renovated room. Throughout the day you could hear some of the construction going on, but it didn't bother us that much since we really […] didn't stay in our room very long. The construction never happened at night. We did feel this resort was a little misleading when we booked. Expedia shows most of the pictures from the Renaissance- Ocean and Suites location. There is another location (same resort) across the street that is NOT on the beach. This is the Renaissance at the Marina, which is an adults only resort. When we realized that we were staying here and not the other location on the beach, we asked to be moved to that resort. They accommodated with no problem, even though we had to wait until the next day to move and had to pay an additional charge each night (well worth it though). The rooms at the Ocean and Suites location are very spacious and nicely renovated. For the most part, the resort is very clean besides the occasional newly construction items and scraps laying around. The private island with this resort is AMAZING! My husband and I thought it was one of the island's best kept secrets. You can take a boat taxi provided by the Renaissance to shuttle you over to the island (about an 8 minute ride over). This island is absolutely lovely! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel by marina"
We did all inclusive and that part was great! Most of the food was good as well. Our room was a bit outdated and cramped. Light switches were in awkward places. Fold out bed was not the best. They were renovating rooms above us so there was lots of noise beginning at about 10:00 am. The pools and grounds were clean and well kept. The private island […] was beautiful and convenient to get to. It was nice having access to all of the immenities at both Renaisance hotels. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"all inclusive, but you should sign for each glass"
Generally is OK, but you should sign a check for each glass of water. After you paid for all inclusive, you should make reservation for buffet dinner (??) Can not ever matched with the resorts in Dominican Republic. Stuff is very friendly. Wi-Fi is pretty expensive and during the 2 of 10 days had problems. Privet island is good and funny. Casino is […] big enough and works 24 hours. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino Dear Yury - appreciate your kind words with regards to the staff service & Resort's layout. Indeed, our Resort offers the option to the guests of being on the All Inclusive program or not being limited to the multiple food & beverage options within the Resort but also to sip , savor , shop & see what Aruba has to offer . Regards Parimal Trivedi
Good food around the clock. If you tip better service, even if you have all inclusive as I did. Private island a bit out dated but nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
Beautiful hotel. The all inclusive option is worth it. It includes dining at top of the notch restaurants. The private beach is absolutely magnificent.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient and Comfortable, But Lacking in Service"
Overall, we really enjoyed this resort. We stay at the newly-renovated Marina Hotel, and the whole place has a very comfortable, contemporary feel. Our room was also nice and spacious for two people, albeit our balcony door and iron were broken, and the big HDTV in our room didn't broadcast in HD. The resort is also extremely convenient. Located in […] downtown Oranjestad, it took us only 10-15 minutes to get from the airport to the resort. Not only are there tons of restaurants in and around the resort, but there's also a poolside bar, a Starbucks, and an entire mall with various luxury brands. And while the resort isn't exactly beach-side, the Renaissance has its own private island, which is easily accessible via free boat ride. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
It was very relaxing I really enjoyed myself. I was not used to a hotel setting but the hotel itself was nice. Not much to do but the private island was a plus.Genuine Expedia guest review
I would not recommend staying at this hotel. After traveling all day when you arrive at a resort you want everything to be in working order. Upon arrival to the hotel the staff was unorganized. Our room smelled of mold and the refrigerator in the room not only was turned off but had standing water and had not been clean. The hotel is under construction […] which was not told to us upon booking. The wires to our TV in the living room were cut due to the construction and we were inconvenienced for 3 hours with maintenence and house keeping coming in and out of the room. Our waitress at the restaurant on their private island was rude and spoke as little as possible to us. The overall experience of the resort was awful and I would never stay in another Renaissance again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel has recently been renovated, rooms are very modern looking, however there is a sliding glass door going to the bathroom that does not provide any sound barrier. Extras like soft robes and plush towel make it feel luxurious. Starbucks downstairs was nice. We had a great view of the ocean. Mall is more high end stores. I read previous complaints […] about hearing noise in room from mall downstairs, we didn't hear any noise during our stay, renovation must have fixed that. Hotel is located in downtown Oranjestand, not near the high rise or low rise hotels, but is close to the bus station, grocery stores, shops, restaurants. Private beach is nice, but there are a lot of shells in the sand, difficult to walk on beach. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We booked this hotel last minute and was worried that we may have chosen a bad hotel. But we were wrong this hotel is by far one of the best hotels in Aruba. We even checked out other hotels and resorts while there to compare and we are extremely happy with our choice.Genuine Expedia guest review
Just got back last night from our first trip to Aruba. We had a wonderful time! The resort was wonderful! We loved the private island and the beach at the hotel was good too. A lot of people complained about mosquitos and flies, but we had no problems with either. Maybe it depends on the time of year you go? Also, the airport close by did not bother […] us at all. It is quieter on the family/iguana beach side. Shower doors did make a mess, but who cares when you're on vacation on such a beautiful island! Go, you'll love it! this is a very nice hotel the all-inclusive is definitely worth it. The private beach is gorgeous and beautiful. Just be careful with the only inclusive as its very complicated to understand. The hotel was very clean, convenient and the staff was very helpful as well. The private beach is extremely nice and well kept and the bar and food was very good. "Was not accommadating"
The room we stayed in was nothing like the picture they showed on line. It was ok however they were rennovating. We were right NEXT to the renovations so the drilling and the baggging was super LOUD from 9-6. I went to the front desk if we could be moved. His response was didn't the travel agent inform you we were renovating. I told him I didn't go […] through an agent I booled it on line and it said nothing about renovating. If it did I'm sure it doesn't mention that we would be next door to it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was my second year returning to Aruba, and also to Renaissance hotel... and it was even more pleasant the 2nd time around to see that they have made renovations to their rooms at Marina (Adult Exclusive). Spacious, modern, clean, and comfortable! The staff was super helpful and friendly from entrance to exit. I woke up in the middle of the night […] thirsty and hungry around 3am, I went to the front desk for assistance and was given a cup of ice cold water from the closed bar, and escorted to The Lounge (in LG Smith Steakhouse), where I received a light, yet impressive, and affordable after hours menu. The service was great here as well. The bar drinks were excellent, and the bar staff was super helpful. The pool was cool and relaxing even on the hottest days filled with hot tunes by the DJ, and the private beach was as spectacular as I remembered it. I will be back, once a year is not enough. Very happy with the overall service. The hotel staff is very helpful for direction to anywhere in the island. The supermarket and bus station are within walking distance. First time in Aruba and overall good trip. Hotel is right in downtown and fairly close to many stores, bars and an additional casino to the one in the hotel. The pools were both very nice and the beach, reachable by 15 min boat ride, was nice. Critiques: 1. Food for the all inclusive was ok. It was the same every day despite going to different spots. […] You can only eat so many flatbreads, sliders, and fried stuff. 2. Beaches were just ok. The adult side, Tidal pool, was full of rocks. The family side was full if seaweed. To be fair, the staff spent hours trying to clean the seaweed up which was appreciated. 3. Bathrooms in the rooms are NOT private. Makes for interesting conversation though... Haha 4. Bartenders at the beach are true professionals and are great people. Very attentive and made our trip. 5. For the transactions you make, despite being all inclusive, all come with a bill (meals, drinks, etc.) there is confusion however when it comes to the service charge added to the bill. We were unsure on how much to tip (and we tipped on every 'bill') Overall, pretty good but not a slam dunk for me to do again when I make it back. Also, we were a party of 3 couples and this was our general consensus. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Updated and modernized hotel with private island"
We stayed at the Renaissance for our honeymoon. The hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly. "Renaissance Aruba 2014 trip"
Overall we had a pleasant stay but I did have a few things I did not like. We arrived early and they would not budge on the 4pm check in at all. They do not have direct access to the beach. You have to take a 20 minute boat ride to an island. The island is very nice but we prefer being able to go to the beach anytime without notice. The internet connectivity […] was very spotty at best in the room. We complained and they were nice enough to remove the charges. The room was small but extremely clean!!! "Wonderful stay! (superb staff, exceptional food)"
Just came back from an all inclusive stay (6 days, 5 nights) at the Ocean Suites section of the Renaissance Hotel and it was absolutely wonderful and delightful experience. This was my first time travelling to Aruba and I chose this hotel because of all the great reviews. The staff at the hotel (hotel reception staff) was super friendly and extremely […] helpful. (directing me to any locations that I requested for, choosing any activities, etc) I highly recommend the all inclusive package, as the food was excellent. There is a steakhouse, (one of my favorite places) a phenomenal seafood restaurant that has superior food freshness (my absolutely favorite place, since I love seafood, lobster tails, shrimp, crab cakes, fish, all fresh) and a lot of other restaurants you can go (menus include burgers, quesadillas, chips, salads, a lot of variety! The drinks(mixed) weren't that strong but you can order any quantity you like with the package. (the tropical drinks were delicious). I liked living in the ocean suites, we had a balcony which had a view of the ocean and a lot of palm trees. I found it to be quiet and peaceful which I loved. The bed was super comfortable, and room service did a great job cleaning every day. I noticed that some reviews mentioned that the showers didn't have hot water and that water got all over the place. I did not have any issues with these. We had great water pressure and had no problem with water being on the floor. No issues with renovations. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, not over crowded"
Went for a vacation, taking along 3 of my 16 year old daughter's friends. The hotel was very safe as was the private island, used only by Renaissance guests. The staff were very cheerful and friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel had great reviews from Expedia users and convinced me to try it out. The only wonderful thing about it was the location which is downtown and walking distance to so much. HOWEVER, when we first arrived they immediately said I'm sure you are not aware but we are under renovations so the room that we had was not available. For $400 per night […] we had a second floor room with a view of the loading dock and employee entrance. Keeping our balcony doors open was not an option as the room filled with fumes and the loud music coming from the cars picking up employees late at night was not paradise. The first night we realized that our shower had not been clean as it was full of hair and there was no fresh towels. They brought towels but did nothing else. (NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY). The hotel has a pool and then a private island that as you lay on the hammock on the adult side you are blasted with JET ENGINE NOISE from the airport directly located across from the island and then minutes later the strong smell of fumes and burnt rubber! GROSS! Finally, while at the pool one of the days we were there, I had slipped into the water with my husband to just cool off real quick and in a matter of minutes, broad daylight, with people around my beach bag was stolen. Money, IPAD, everything gone! Security did NOTHING! Sent me to Police who did NOTHING! Again NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY from the management. Aruba - thumbs up, Hotel - thumbs down. The hotel is old and is in desperate need of renovation. The bathroom is dingy and we just didn't feel comfortable there. The lobby staff is not friendly. The pool is nice as is the private island.
