"Nice hotel with private island"
Great hotel and spa and the private beach was beautifulGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was worth every penny. The staff especially Elizabeth who was one of the servers at the pool area. The ride on the speed boat to the private island was so cool.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Was not accommadating"
The room we stayed in was nothing like the picture they showed on line. It was ok however they were rennovating. We were right NEXT to the renovations so the drilling and the baggging was super LOUD from 9-6. I went to the front desk if we could be moved. His response was didn't the travel agent inform you we were renovating. I told him I didn't go […] through an agent I booled it on line and it said nothing about renovating. If it did I'm sure it doesn't mention that we would be next door to it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was my second year returning to Aruba, and also to Renaissance hotel... and it was even more pleasant the 2nd time around to see that they have made renovations to their rooms at Marina (Adult Exclusive). Spacious, modern, clean, and comfortable! The staff was super helpful and friendly from entrance to exit. I woke up in the middle of the night […] thirsty and hungry around 3am, I went to the front desk for assistance and was given a cup of ice cold water from the closed bar, and escorted to The Lounge (in LG Smith Steakhouse), where I received a light, yet impressive, and affordable after hours menu. The service was great here as well. The bar drinks were excellent, and the bar staff was super helpful. The pool was cool and relaxing even on the hottest days filled with hot tunes by the DJ, and the private beach was as spectacular as I remembered it. I will be back, once a year is not enough. Hotel shower has half door. Water everywhere while taking a shower.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very happy with the overall service. The hotel staff is very helpful for direction to anywhere in the island. The supermarket and bus station are within walking distance. We took the bus more than taxi to save money for other things. The food court is also within walking distance.Genuine Expedia guest review
First time in Aruba and overall good trip. Hotel is right in downtown and fairly close to many stores, bars and an additional casino to the one in the hotel. The pools were both very nice and the beach, reachable by 15 min boat ride, was nice. Critiques: 1. Food for the all inclusive was ok. It was the same every day despite going to different spots. […] You can only eat so many flatbreads, sliders, and fried stuff. 2. Beaches were just ok. The adult side, Tidal pool, was full of rocks. The family side was full if seaweed. To be fair, the staff spent hours trying to clean the seaweed up which was appreciated. 3. Bathrooms in the rooms are NOT private. Makes for interesting conversation though... Haha 4. Bartenders at the beach are true professionals and are great people. Very attentive and made our trip. 5. For the transactions you make, despite being all inclusive, all come with a bill (meals, drinks, etc.) there is confusion however when it comes to the service charge added to the bill. We were unsure on how much to tip (and we tipped on every 'bill') Overall, pretty good but not a slam dunk for me to do again when I make it back. Also, we were a party of 3 couples and this was our general consensus. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good family hotel"
Family ocean suites. Odd setup of light switches and doors. MARRIOTT, not employees to blame for terrible pullout couch beds. Upper floors preferable. Loved private island; adequate variety of restaurants with all-inclusive. Location was away from larger strip of hotels, not directly on natural beach but nice lagoon. Cruise ships pass yards away - […] cool! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Bad hotel service"
The rooms are kept clean, but the hotel staff were not friendly at all. Upon check in and when I needed some assistance, you could not even get anyone to smile or be pleasant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"would not stay again"
we stayed in the ocean suites, The staff was less than helpful, They were overall not polite, truly didnt care about if you were there or not. WHATEVER you do , do NOT get a room that has a pullout bed. It was pure springs, MOST HORRIBLE SLEEP EVER!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Updated and modernized hotel with private island"
We stayed at the Renaissance for our honeymoon. The hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly. They gave us 4 free drink tickets for the Blue bar because we had to wait an extra hour for our room to be cleaned before checking in. Our navigator, Berlinda, part of concierge services, was so good to us. She gave us the names to some really good […] restaurants - some only the locals really know about and she took care all of our activity bookings so we had a stress free vacation. "Renaissance Aruba 2014 trip"
Overall we had a pleasant stay but I did have a few things I did not like. We arrived early and they would not budge on the 4pm check in at all. They do not have direct access to the beach. You have to take a 20 minute boat ride to an island. The island is very nice but we prefer being able to go to the beach anytime without notice. The internet connectivity […] was very spotty at best in the room. We complained and they were nice enough to remove the charges. The room was small but extremely clean!!! The food was a bit pricey and not much of a selection. We hit the local spots nearby instead. The best meal was in their steak & chophouse. It had great food and service!! "Wonderful stay! (superb staff, exceptional food)"
Just came back from an all inclusive stay (6 days, 5 nights) at the Ocean Suites section of the Renaissance Hotel and it was absolutely wonderful and delightful experience. This was my first time travelling to Aruba and I chose this hotel because of all the great reviews. The staff at the hotel (hotel reception staff) was super friendly and extremely […] helpful. (directing me to any locations that I requested for, choosing any activities, etc) I highly recommend the all inclusive package, as the food was excellent. There is a steakhouse, (one of my favorite places) a phenomenal seafood restaurant that has superior food freshness (my absolutely favorite place, since I love seafood, lobster tails, shrimp, crab cakes, fish, all fresh) and a lot of other restaurants you can go (menus include burgers, quesadillas, chips, salads, a lot of variety! The drinks(mixed) weren't that strong but you can order any quantity you like with the package. (the tropical drinks were delicious). I liked living in the ocean suites, we had a balcony which had a view of the ocean and a lot of palm trees. I found it to be quiet and peaceful which I loved. The bed was super comfortable, and room service did a great job cleaning every day. I noticed that some reviews mentioned that the showers didn't have hot water and that water got all over the place. I did not have any issues with these. We had great water pressure and had no problem with water being on the floor. No issues with renovations. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, not over crowded"
Went for a vacation, taking along 3 of my 16 year old daughter's friends. The hotel was very safe as was the private island, used only by Renaissance guests. The staff were very cheerful and friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel had great reviews from Expedia users and convinced me to try it out. The only wonderful thing about it was the location which is downtown and walking distance to so much. HOWEVER, when we first arrived they immediately said I'm sure you are not aware but we are under renovations so the room that we had was not available. For $400 per night […] we had a second floor room with a view of the loading dock and employee entrance. Keeping our balcony doors open was not an option as the room filled with fumes and the loud music coming from the cars picking up employees late at night was not paradise. The first night we realized that our shower had not been clean as it was full of hair and there was no fresh towels. They brought towels but did nothing else. (NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY). The hotel has a pool and then a private island that as you lay on the hammock on the adult side you are blasted with JET ENGINE NOISE from the airport directly located across from the island and then minutes later the strong smell of fumes and burnt rubber! GROSS! Finally, while at the pool one of the days we were there, I had slipped into the water with my husband to just cool off real quick and in a matter of minutes, broad daylight, with people around my beach bag was stolen. Money, IPAD, everything gone! Security did NOTHING! Sent me to Police who did NOTHING! Again NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY from the management. Aruba - thumbs up, Hotel - thumbs down. "Know what you are booking.........Hotel is OLD."
The hotel is old and is in desperate need of renovation. The bathroom is dingy and we just didn't feel comfortable there. The lobby staff is not friendly. The pool is nice as is the private island. The food (all inclusive) is actually good. The wait for the food / drinks, too long! I would not rebook again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great resort with a Private Island"
Had a great experience overall with Renanissance. The service is a tad slow, but that is everywhere on the island. Great place to stay for a getaway. The adult exclusive area are great for relaxation and fun. Don't miss out on the buffet breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice resort with lots of shopping opportunities"
The Renaissance Marina is a well maintained hotel. The private island that is connected ot the resort is small but beautiful. The Renaissance Marina only has one pool. The lounge area is great but smoking is allowed and as a non-smoker it forced me to limit my time in this area. The food from the restaurants onsite was great. The staff at the front […] desk were polite but not too informative regarding the activities at the resort and on the island. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The Renaissance was a great choice, the hotel is extremely clean, very modern, has a mall right downstairs, and is surrounded by great places to eat. IT EVEN HAS IT'S OWN PRIVATE ISLAND!! Response by Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino Dear Maria, Thank you for choosing our property for your vacation. We are terribly sorry about the unpleasant experience on the private island, due to an unfortunate lapse with our municipal services. Please rest assured that we are doing everything in our power to return the island to its normal pristine condition; let us know when you plan your return visit!

"Unfortunately my trip there was horrible. I"
I spent a lot of money for very little comfort. The rooms were very old on the Oceanside and needed to be renovated. The bathroom had a drop ceiling in it that had black mold everywhere. Eventually after 3 days we complained and got moved over to the adults only side. We met a few other families who had the same complaints. The room on the adults only […] side was big and clean but the shower water was cold for most of our the stay. Very disappointing. The renaissance island was beautiful. The pool seen and staff were great. Hopefully they'll be able to create the ambiance of the marina side on the ocean side after renovations. Will not be staying there ever again. Will be going back to the high rises. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Returning Visitor, and Happy!!!"
We returned to Aruba and this hotel 18 years later. To our pleasure the hotel had been renovated. The rooms were still very spacious and nice for a family of four. With separate living, sleeping and kitchen area. Our favorite part about staying here is the private island. Our children loved it and it's nice to "get-away" from the craziness of the other […] Aruba beaches and feel like you have your own little paradise. The only complaint is that the service on the private island was pretty slow. I think they need to hire more staff. However, we learned to place our orders well before we needed them and then we were okay. I love this hotel and hope that we can return again some day soon!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"know what you are booking"
Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino After traveling all day from Upstate NY to Aruba, we arrived at the Renaissance Hotel to find out that the room that we were told we were getting (by expedia.com) was not what was booked!! After long conversations with the manager, we gave up and realized that they were not going to do anything to accomodate us. We […] were told (by expedia) that the room was ocean view, had a swim up pool bar and beach front. However, the hotel manager told us that the room we booked was across the street and no ocean view!! We realized that the mistake was on Expedia's end, and that we woud have to deal with it when we got home. The dissapointment was that the hotel manager was unbending and unwilling to make any consolations for us for even one night until we were able to contact expedia. In the end, the rooms across the street were very nice and they had a boat that took us to a private beach, which was great. We rated the staff as excellent but the hotel management was very poor for customer relations. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The facility was remodeled from last year. Didn't like the removal of the bathroom door and the 1" height difference from main floor to the restroom should be adjusted. They no longer provide you with the slippers with monogram disappointing. The bedding very comfortable and restful. Great facility.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Unless You Intend to Completely Shut Down"
Aruba is a wonderfully relaxing place. And there's plenty to do all around. But be sure you plan to only sleep in the room. Room service options are inferior -- breakfast stops at 11 a.m., so forget about sleeping too late; no room service is available after 11 p.m. so forget about a midnight snack. Wifi reception is simply horrible. So don't bother […] trying to get on. Regrettably, there isn't even on-demand service on the TV, so not much going on there either. They should just charge for a bed. All of this is likely an effort to get you to hang out all night in the casino. Which is actually a great option! The private beach is cool as well. And don't miss out on the amazing Cuban restaurant across the street called Cuba's Cookin. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"NICE HOTEL VERY BAD SERVICE NO ROOM SERVICE"
The hotel is very nice, modern, clean and in the heart of downtown. However the service at reception and restaurant is the worse. The bar and pool attendants are nice. There is no room 24hr service and the restaurant opens at odd hoursGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice amenities but not on the beach"
Private island is great but drinks are watered down and the food is so so. But the view is fabulous! Ocean Suites view and amenities are great, but there is a much older crowd there. The hotel itself at the Marina is okay. The view from the pool is pretty good but there is a road separating you from the ocean. It is noisy and smelly. The infinity pool […] is great, but the bar area is overcrowded and not conducive for relaxation. The music is very disappointing. No LIVE music to speak of and the ambiance of the bar/pool area leaves a lot to be desired. The staff was mixed, some good and some bad. Hit or miss. Room was nice and modern and clean.
