Its a typical Devere with tidy rooms and good facilities and professional staff.Bar is pricey and if they bring anything for you then they add service charge automatically. You will have a good time and if you have a complaint they sort it out!

The outside, entrance and reception areas are impressive but what you find as you get further into the hotel does not live up to initial expectations. The room was fine but could do with some TLC and we couldn't get hot water in the shower in the evening although it was hard to get it cool enough the next morning. We ate in the Brasserie where the service […] was good but the food was not - unappetising and, in parts, inedible. We mentioned this to the waiter and were told that there had been a number of complaints that evening - so much so that the maître d' came over to apologise and said that we would not have to pay. We did, however, have to pay £20 for our dog which we thought excessive as we do not pay that much for kennelling and there he gets fed and walked as well! Wonderful hotel and great value for money (winter break). It was during the snow and so did not get to see the grounds. Only negative was very chatty room next door (until 2am!) plus the self-closing doors do rather slam. Free room wi-fi was useful. Food great.

Booked this hotel for a romantic getaway. We arrived early and the staff could not not have been better, They let us check in early as there was a room ready. Very professional - nothing too much trouble. Room spotlessly clean. Lots of rooms/areas to have pre dinner drinks or read the paper. We visited the hotel for a Christmas event, a three course meal and disco in the restaurant, and a weekend away with friends and family. I didn't like coffee cups being on the table whilst having my meal, worked in hospitality and never seen that before. The meal was gorgeous and great value. The staff were great and very attentive. Very nice rural type setting with good access to neigbouring villages and towns. Staff were very polite and attentive. In the evenings we had drinks and something to eat in the 19 hole bar, the food was very good as was the service. Breakfast was equally as good, with a plentyful selection of drinks, cereals and hot food. Our room had a nice view over […] the golf course (it is worth the extra for a non-ground floor, with golf course view). Spacious and very clean room (bed was really comfy) the only let down was the toilet roll holder hanging of the wall and paint peelling beneath the bathroom mirror. I came with my son to visit the Roman museums as he was doing a project for school. It was fun to see the hotel through his eyes. He loved the pool - towels provided - the big comfortable beds, the room service dinner (which came very quickly) and the nice breakfast. The staff were very nice - the receptionist lent us a book about the nearby Roman sites […] which we appreciated. Overall the stay was OK but there were one or two disappointments that took a shine off the overall experience: I asked at reception for an extra pillow on 2 seperate occasions but the extra pillow failed to materialise and we were charged a £2.50 fee for the items (meal in the restaurant) bought on a credit card. This hotel is ideal for the golf enthusiast or families. There is little to attract the older person who wants a quiet break. The pool is busy and noisy (not ideal for serious swimming) and there are few areas indoors or out for just sitting and relaxing. A pity as the view across the golf course is magnificent. It is badged as a luxury spa and uses the title Hall - which implies unique character. However, in the main, the Hotel is vast, characterless and bland. My room was on par with any Premier Lodge. If you get in the spa pool when it is quiet - that is very pleasant.

Fixtures and fittings somewhat tired now for a hotel of this classification. No shower cap - would be good to have. Otherwise, a pleasant stay due to the happy demeanor of all the staff who are willing to laugh with you and make the day jolly. Even when we complained our room was noisy (due, we think, to the air-conditioning unit outside the rooms - […] the whole of floor 3 was like it) a speedy, friendly response to move us without any quibbling was effected. So 10/10 for that, and our grateful thanks. Would we visit again? Probably not as we don't play golf and as the hotel is quite remote there would be no other reason to go again. Didn't try the spa, (although it did look nice) as it was absolutely choc-a-bloc with users - think there is a special 'spa' day promotion? For a high quality chain this hotel was disappointing in that there were was no box of tissues; sewing kit, shower cap or bath mat to be found anywhere within the bedroom or bathroom. Wrong cereal delivered to the room and the cooked breakfast though more than sufficient in quantity was very disappointing in quality and almost cold. We did not complain […] about this at the time. Due to the bad weather at the time of our stay we arrived late and left early so did not make use of any other facilities. The Hotel is set in a beautiful part of the country allowing easy access to south Northumberland, we mainly visited North Northumberland but found the extra travelling was worthwhile to stay at this Hotel which is set within some wonderful countryside. Upon checking in, I was told I had been upgraded to a golf course view room. And very nice it was too, with a view over the lovely estate. The room was perfect - huge bed, very clean, tea/coffee, biscuits, fridge (no mini bar but room service), iron and board. Nice toiletries and even robes. There are two restaurants, plus two bars that also serve food, […] plus a snack bar at the pool. So plenty of choice. Staff were all very friendly. Can't fault them. Food delicious, including a huge variety of hot and cold breakfast (no comparison to Traveldge breakfast in a bag!#. The only downside was the price, with all food and drink with a 10% service charge it soon adds up, but you have to expect to pay more when you are in the middle of no-where... the hotel will need to pay for those sumptuous sofas some how! I was impressed that the room rate included breakfast, which in itself would probably cost £15-£20 each #I probably polished off about £10 worth of fresh fruit, never mind the pots of coffee and eggs benedict! The pool facilities are great. And as we stayed in the hotel a few days, it was all free all day. Didn't book any treatments, but several rooms and lots of options. Just stuck with the pool, steam, sauna and jacuzzi. Free towels and free lockers. And a decent sized gym too that I had to use to work off some breakfast! Didn't manage to get around the estate, but lots of walks. Valet parking was a nice surprise, as the car park is a little walk from reception. Read more

Lovely hotel with a very attractive golf course, would recommend for getting away for a weekend. There is a spa with a nice pool, although it can get busy pretty quickly as it isn't huge. Prices in the hotel bar and restaurant are not cheap, however the food is good - had steak in Hadrian's restaurant and was very pleased with it. We specifically booked an accessible room for my mother in law because she is old and has difficulty getting around and up and down. She needs things to hold on to to help leverage her up etc. When we got to the room there was plenty of room for a wheelchair to move around and lots of grab rails around a roll in shower. Where the room failed miserably […] for my MiL (and for any wheelchair user) was that the toilet was very isolated and had not a single grab bar. It was clear that someone had tried to use the toilet roll holder for leverage in the past as this was somewhat loose. For MiL it would have been a death trap (her words). Thankfully helpful reception found a normal room where at least the sink area was close to the toilet and could be reached. So if you need real accessibility check what you are getting with the hotel first - it may not be what you need. Read more

My partner and me stayed in a deluxe room which was newly furnished overlooking the golf course which was very clean and comfortable for a romantic overnight stay for a Valentines treat. The bar area was very cosy with great customer service also offering light bites (which were a bit overpriced). We opted to dine in the Hadrians restaurant which was […] a real treat, the service was excellent and the food even better. Very nice. Breakfast was the usual buffet breakfast offering full cooked breakfast and cold buffett with cereal, fruit and pastries (nice to have a proper glass tumbler for the juice saved having to keep going up for more). Overall we enjoyed our stay and believe we would stay again maybe when its warmer so we can have a walk round the scenic grounds. Read more
