The hotel desk clerk that was on duty during most of my visit was not friendly or helpful at all. I've read reviews where this was the main complaint, and thought, Why would that matter? You're not there to make friends with the staff. But it does matter. The housekeeping staff was nicer than the person I had to see when I came in and out of the hotel. If you're looking for a place to stay near Hollywood and Highland, don't stay here. Stay at the Holiday Inn Express next door. The computer at my hotel wasn't working, and there was no one to fix it. I needed to print my boarding pass. I went next door, and, not only was it nicer and cleaner, the front desk clerk went beyond his job and let me use the computer that is for guests only. That's a great indication of how well they treat their guests.

We came to Hollywood to see Barry Manilow at the Hollywood Bowl and picked this hotel for its location. The location was great for that...it was also within walking distance of the Mann Theater and Walk of Fame and all the attractions around that. I was dissappointed with the hotel...it was not as clean as I would like, dated and small..I guess I expected something different. I do not think it was worth what we paid.

We stayed at this hotel for one night to maximize our time spent at Universal Studios. There were three adults and on child in our party and the room accommodated us all adequately, even with a roll away bed. The room itself was very comfortable and clean and overall the staff were friendly and courteous. There is a small strip mall across the road and I would highly recommend the pizza place attached to the liquor store.

I must say, the price we received on this hotel was pretty decent, and I was excited to get over to Hollywood with the family. When we entered the hotel it was nice to see some covered parking (which we were able to secure one.. it's first come first serve here) at the hotel. We went to the front desk where noone was there. A couple of minutes later someone came through the door with a coffee and talking on her cell phone. We registered and got the keys to a 3rd floor room. The elevator is right inside the main office which is conveient, but fair warning to those that use it: It smalls a most putrid smell I could ever imagine. My 5 year old daughter called it the "smelly elevator" every time we had to use it and plugged her nose before we got in and wouldn't unplug it till we got out! The room itself was surprisingly clean (not smelly at all thank god!), and was sizable enough for the price we paid, but the beds are horrible. My wife and I had the most uncomfortable sleep we've had in years. Very cheap mattresses provide no support at all and the slightest movement shakes the entire bed. The pool is not heated and was VERY cold even in the 100+ degree weather we were having. The hot tub jets did not work well at all. Both seemed pretty clean, but it's probably because noone uses them for those reasons. One plus is there was a refridgerator in the room and right down the street is a little market so you can buy some perishables and put them in there with no problem. TV selection is bad. No PPV option or Game option, and although there is HBO it looks like there's a ground issue at the hotel because most of the "lower" channels had a nice hum (or video roll) in them. We did eat at the diner there. It's very small and all we had was a light breakfast, but the food seemed good enough. There's isn't much in the way of service but we didn't expect much at the place either, it's more of a diner type experience where the waitress will ask what you want you tell her a

If you're looking to visit the north LA area, say for a "Hollywood vacation" in which you're visiting the studios, seeing the walk of fame, the Kodak Theatre and so on, this is the perfect hotel. It is located a couple of blocks from the Kodak Theatre area with the Hollywood Bowl a couple of blocks in the other direction. It's right off of a major freeway and very easy to find. Rooms are nice, basic rooms. They're clean, they have a TV, the curtains block 100% of the light (for the morning afters) and there is a good sized fridge in the room to offset the lack of free breakfast. Just hit a grocery store down the road and stock the basics. Parking is free with the room but the spaces are tight. If you have a bigger vehicle you'll want to park it early in the evening as there are very few spaces in which you can comfortably fit. For regular sized and economy cars you'll be fine. If you're driving to LA and looking for a great value then this is the hotel. I'll be back.

We thought it came with breakfast, but it didn't. There was a small restaurant on site, convenient, though we didn't eat there. Hotel was not as close to Legoland as we thought, but very close to the freeway on & off ramps. The traffic was really bad exiting and entering the hotel. Forget about making a left turn up to Legoland. You're forced to go right then find a cross street to turn around and head back the other direction. Also, they need better signage or cut back trees because the hotel is very easy to miss. I'd stay here again.

I am now a big fan of the Best Western Hotels chain. This specific one in Hollywood, on Highland, is two blocks from Hollywood Blvd, which was fantastic! The room was perfect for me and my two nephews and Mom-I took them to Universal Studios and the hotel was literally a hop, skip, and a jump away! The room itself had all of the amenities needed to keep a family-especially with young kids-happy! It had the coffee (not that I needed it much-the kids was enough caffeine for me thankyouverymuch), the microwave, ample room. I highly recommend this hotel if you have kids!!! They have a nice pool where they can play! The staff was fantastic. I was at a high-end business hotel in Woodland Hills the previous two nights and the staff at the Best Western completyely blew them away with their more than superior customer service. They were super friendly, with a number 1 emphasis on customer care/service. The staff knew exactly how to treat their guests, and I have dealt with many a hotel staff in even the higher end tourist hotels in Paris, Madrid, London, and Rome, and this team surpassed all of them 100% with flying colors! When I stay at a hotel, I expect the best service because I am not at home; I am outside of my comfort zone and outside of my element, and the hotel staff needs to be there for me 100%, and I can't say that for any of the hotels I ever stayed in, with the shining exception of the staff at the Best Western Hollywood Plaza. That team alone will make me want to come back the next time I am in Los Angeles, no matter what part of the county I have to be in. I will make sure to stay there.

This Hotel was an easy walk to Hollywood Blvd, which made it easy to go see the sites that we had planned out. One recommendation that I would make is if traveling with 3 people then take a taxi from the LAX airport (it cost like $55) but if traveling with just 1 or 2 then take the airport shuttle it's only like 15 a person and could save you some dinero. The people at the front desk need some custoner service skills they didn't seem in the mode to help not just me but anyone. But once you make past that then it's smooth sailing. The room was very clean but location is the best and since it was so good we didn't want to stay in the room very long. Other then the customer service the only other problems was that there was a strange homeless looking man that came to sit at the pool when my wife and I were swimming, kinda creeped my wife out but I didn't care as much it's not like he was going to do anything he was just a pervert. And the other thing that was a bit frustrateing was that our Iron was worthless. It was not hot at all, I could put my hand on it and it just felt warm not hot. I just solved this but putting the clothes in the bathroom and let the steam from the shower get the wrinkles out.
