Artemide Hotel Central Station

A short guide to Central Station

Rome’s central train station, Termini is the entry point to the city from Fiumicino Airport, and is an impressive modern architectural sight. Between here and glamorous Via Veneto, there are several interesting places to visit. The Palazzo Barberini is a superb baroque palace, the Terme di Diocleziano was the city’s largest bath complex and the Church of Santa Maria della Concezione is remarkable for its Capuchin monks’ crypt.

Comfortable room, great location - very close to Colessium and reasonable walking distance to all other sites, very close to Metro station. Good breakfast with selection of pastries, cereals, fruit etc. We stayed in Rome for 8 nights and 7 days, if I were to go again for this amount of time, I would be tempted to look at a hotel further afield with Pool (Rome is very hot in June!). The roof terrace was not open during our stay (only opens from 1 July) and we were dissappointed by this as it was one of the things that attracted us to the Hotel, so beware if you are visiting before July. Complimentary minibar was a great addition. There is also a small gym and sauna on the ground floor, but after all the walking we did we didn't find the energy to use it!

We enjoyed our stay here for two nights. Superior Room to the inner courtyard which was quiet, spacious and spotless. The staff were extremely helpful, reception efficient and very capable with good language skills. Located at the top half of Via Nationale it was convenient for most of Rome. Bar prices were expensive but spirit measures huge so value OK. Buffet breakfast was a great start to the day with bacon and scrambled eggs as well as the usual continental fare. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

The location of this hotel is fantastic, you are in the centre of Rome within easy walking distance of major attractions like the Trevi Fountain & Spanish Steps. The hotel staff were very friendly & helpful and the free welcome glass of Prosecco went down very well. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice of food and great coffee. Our room was very comfortable with a lovely bathroom.

It is located just a few blocks away from the Main Train Station in Rome, which means you can take the train from the airport, and two blocks from the Subway, which is only a 15 minute trip to The Vatican. Close to the Colisseum & The Forum. Gorgeous Old, but newly renovated building. A Hotel with a Lot of Style!

We would recommend The Artimede to anyone who wants a well located hotel ,fairly close to the train station in central Rome. The Hotel is good value for money and the Reception Staff were excellent in helping us to plan our sightseeing trips etc.We paid a little extra for superior rooms and this was well worth the extra comfort and superior facilities. The rooms wer huge! The roof-top terrace bar was very relaxing and gave a panoramic view over the roof tops, but this is only open in July and August. One minor criticism was the fact that the lift servicing the superior block was often broken and it was also very small .Overall we would highly recommend this hotel. Thanks!

The internet wireless was hit or miss each time you wanted to use it. The business center internet was out for a few days as well. The thought the hotel was nice and the staff was always present. The room was nice but next to another building's outdoor patio so the shutters didn't really open, but it is not the end of the world since we really weren't much. If this hotel was in a better location I wouldn't mind staying there again.

We came here on our honeymoon in august 2009. One of the main reasons we picked this hotel was some of the pictures provided here and on their website. Unfortunately, some of the outside pics, Are Fot Of This Hotel, but of the hotel Exedra, A Boscolo Luxury Hotel. Which should not be allowed to be posted as their own hotel. HIGHLY questionable practices. One of the pics also suggest the breakfast buffet is on the roof top patio, when it is not. The roof top is closed until 7pm at night. Wifi hardly worked. Only worked properly one of the 8 days we were there. The staff was nice and friendly. Almost everyone spoke english. Great recommendations on local restaurants. Mini fridge was restocked daily and was free. Great service when you consider the price of drinks in restaurants around Rome. Hotel is very close to a main metro station (Republicco) and you are able to go pretty much everywhere from here. Going sightseeing from out hotel was very easy.

Overall, the staff was fabulous, the room was well-appointed, if smaller than a comparable room in the states, the bathroom was wonderfully equipped... My ONLY complaint about our stay was the heat. It may be that I'm just spoiled in thinking that air conditioning should be able to cool the room lower than 78F, but such was not the case in our room - it actually got increasingly hotter as we stayed in the room, and remained pretty humid as well. In any month other than August, I'd return in a heartbeat!

Breakfast buffet is a great add and comes in handy when looking for a quick bite before heading out the door - though the variety each day leaves a little to be desired. Internet in business center was a little spotty on some computers, but overall was a great deal and exceptionally nice as it is open 24/7. The hotel is within walking distance of many of the top 10 tourist sites though we did occasionally cough up a euro each to take the bus (64 goes to Vatican City and has all the right stops in between).

The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean and comfortable. The bed was a little hard. The hotel was within walking distance of many of the attractions and very close to the metro so getting around the city was very easy. The "American Breakfast" left a little to be desired but the hotel had a complimentary mini bar. I would stay here again without question.

The hotel is very centrally located, a short walk from many Rome attractions. The rooms are small, but modern, clean, bright, with good bathrooms. The included breakfast is very good, and the mini-bar (water, soda, beer, snacks) is free and replenished every day. The various internet/TV deals are at US prices (low and reasonable), not the usual European ripoffs. All in all, a very good experience.

This was an excellent location for walking to the major sites in Rome, close to Termini and easily walkable to everything short of the Vatican (especially if you dress up). The free mini-bar was a nice touch, as was the wonderful breakfast buffet in the morning. The room is small by American hotel room standards, but very comfortable and clean.

i spent a little more money than i usually would on a nicer hotel because i was traveling alone (young woman) and wanted to be sure I felt secure and safe in a nice hotel. This one was great. Staff spoke English well and were helpful in giving directions. Internet service is perhaps a little pricey for a short stay, but well worth it if you stay a few days. (When i went it was 12Euro for the length of stay to use wifi in room, lobby, etc and also use business center computers and printers--very nice and equipped for skype, etc with headsets and microphones). Decent light breakfast, room not huge but big enough and none in Europe are very big anyways. The bathroom was very nice and more spacious than others I'd been in. (I stayed in a standard double.) Everything in the minibar was free--bottled water and soda--so that was really nice to have that available in the room always. Nice little shampoos and soaps and slippers for in the room. Overall it's not cheap, but a very nice place to stay. I walked most places I wanted to see from the hotel (ancient sites including forum, campo de fiori, spanish steps, trevi, etc). You need to take a bus or cab to get to vatican city across the water or if you've already walked in that direction to see other things you could do it on foot. I took the metro from the train station to the nearest stop and walked to the hotel when I first arrived--no problems, very quick, but was so tired after a long trip I had the hotel book me a car to the airport--reasonably priced and right on time to pick me up. Overall great location and services. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend this hotel. We spent 10 nights and enjoyed our stay immensely. The entire staff was courteous and helpful -- front desk, housekeeping, wait staff and bellmen. All understood/spoke english, making communication a breeze. The breakfast is terrific and the free mini-bar was a nice touch. No nasty surprises whatsoever. Via Nazionale is a busy street, but the location was safe and within convenient walking distance to major attractions. Our room (toward the back) was quiet, clean and comfortable.

A great hotel, conveniently located for all the major sites - 10 mins from the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps. Our room was at the back so very quiet and the service was great. Regular room cleaning, free mini bar whch was refreshed on a daily basis, a great breakfast with plenty of choice. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They say if you need anything give them 30 seconds and they'll get it - and it wasn't just marketing speak, they really did. Only shame was that the roof terrace wasn't open - despite the beautiful May weather, they only open it in July/August. However, I'd still definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great stay in Rome and will certainly be going back.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Hotel was well located and within 20 min walking distance of Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, but no need to walk there as there is a 'hop-on-and-off' tour bus which you can buy a pass for at the hotel and use throughout your stay. Rooms were kept really clean. I had heard that hotel rooms in Rome were very small so I booked the superior room which was still small but adequate ( smaller than the photograph suggests), bathroom was good size though. Mini bar in room was free and stocked up each day with 1x Fanta, 1x Coca Cola, 2x Lager, 4x Water. Free tea and coffee making facilities were also in the room, along with little snacks like biscuits and nuts, also trouser press ,hair dryer, t.v, slippers, bathrobe and towels. We were given 2x complimentary glasses of sparkling wine in the hotel bar which was a nice surprise. Dont buy a drink in the bar without looking at the prices first, a glass of brandy was £15, a bottle of lager was £7. Dont let this put you off, just dont have a drink in the hotel (except for those complimentarys of course!). Staff were really pleasant and very helpful, hotel looked lovely on the outside and doesnt dissapoint on the inside. Breakfast room was really nice too and there are no complaints about breakfast itself . Would stay there again, overall a lovely hotel. If visiting the Vatican City, remember it is closed on a sunday.

The Artemide is exceedingly well located and suits my travel style -- which is premised on preference for significant walking -- about 20-30 minutes walk to every major attraction in Rome. Room was very clean and very, very quiet. Bathroom was modern, and while it had a shower stall which I prefer in a hotel room, the stall is tiny and seemed perfectly constructed to ensure water flowed out onto the floor. A nice benefit is free juice, soda and water plus other goodies in the in-room fridge that was replenished daily (and large enough to allow other items bought from outside. Hotel staff are exceptionally accommodating and helpful with directions and service. You can walk to the train station with ease to catch trains to other cities. The only downsides, as with most European hotels under a couple hundred dollars per night are: the beds are great if you like sleeping on a rock, and air conditioning is not as Americans are used to -- controlled in room by the customer (each room HAS adjustable air conditioning, but the hotel controls the master switch and spring is not a season for it to be on, so rooms can get a bit warm at night -- windows do open, but then you risk a mosquito attack)
