For a business traveler who is trying to charge various gadgets, very few accessible sockets. May be a better hotel for vacation.

The Hotel Burnham was a very relaxing place to stay in Chicago in a great location near several "el" stops and Millenium Park. Very friendly and helpful staff. Downsides: 1) really old television, definitely time for this hotel to upgrade to flat screens 2) tiny exercise room (only 2 treadmills, one bike, one precor machine and one weight bench) which meant that during peak times in the morning guests had to wait to use the machines. 3) Hotel restaurant was closed on Labor Day which meant having to travel elsewhere for a nice brunch on that day.

The Hotel Burnham is located across the street from Macy's (the former Marshall Field's flagship store) and is on the subway line. It's also one block from the elevated tracks. In short, if you want to stay in downtown Chicago (the Loop), this is the place for you. Shoppers: If the downtown stores aren't enough, the Burnham is a short (15 minute) walk to the Michigan Ave "magnificent mile" or take a cab for a few bucks or the subway! The hotel is a beautiful, restored property with some great history. The rooms are nice sized, service good--it's everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel.

This hotel was located in the perfect spot for us. We were only minutes away from the Chicago River, the Red Line train stop and both the Chicago & Ford Theatres. Anywhere you would want to go, with in reason is within walking a mile distances (i.e. Michigan Ave. & Rush St.). If you want to go to a Cubs game, then you just need to jump on the Red Line and head towards Addison St. The hotel room was small, but very comfortable. This hotel probably had the most comfortable beds I have ever had in a hotel. A unique quality to this hotel, is that they still hand out actual room keys, and not just plastic cards. We thought that was a nice touch.

First of all, the service was great and the staff was very nice. That was the good part. The hotel, however, was not all that impressive. I paid for a suite and the room was tiny. The price was definitely too much for the room size and I was immediately disappointmented. For the amount of money I paid for the room, I expected more. Also, I noticed the room together in a very quality manner. The door stand was loose, the table lamp was a bit wobbly, and the head board was not pieced together well and it looked like it was going to fall right off the wall. For a hotel that markets itslef to be a very elegant and classy hotel, I was not impressed and for the amount of money I paid, I think I could have stay somewhere else nicer.

We heard that the rooms were verynice, but also small at this hotel. I think our room was smaller than most. We were put in room 309 which was outfitted for a handicapped person. Thus, the bathroom was huge to accomodate a wheelchair and instead of a tub, there was an open shower with a handicapped-accessible seat. I think the bathroom took up 40% of the hotel room. Check if you can get a non-handicap room when you arrive.

The bellman was always courteous, as well as the rest of the staff. Our room was small, but we didn't intend to spend much time in it anyway. Elevators were small and sometimes we had to wait a few minutes, but that's an old hotel, and the atmosphere and personal attention made up for it. The location was great for us - easy to get to the "L" and all attractions - near Millenium Park and across the street from Macy's. Just around the corner were several great restaurants. Lots of construction nearby, but that's what happens in cities in the summer, so we didn't mind. We stayed in a suite on the third floor and were immediately struck by the view; we could see the "Chicago" sign that's proudly shown in the beginning of the show, "Perfect Strangers."
