"Great family stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
Our family visted Paris and Eurodisney. We selected this hotel based on other reviews, proximity to Disney and price. Room was clean. The computers and games in the lobby were terrific for our children. Food was expensive and just adequate. However, I realize Paris is very expensive. We were a little annoyed because the cleaners entered the room even though every day we placed a do not disturb sign on our door. Overall though, we would stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

Miss something to hang the towels on in the bathroom and something to hang the toilet paper roll on. Nice people in the reception.

"Grand Hotel des Gobelins Paris"
Nice little hotel, small rooms but not a major problem very friendly and helpfull staff. The hotel is close to the local Metro station, and there are several restraunts and a few nice Cafe/Pubs in the area. Not a great area for shopping if that is your thing, but a short trip by metro into Paris will sort that out. The only complaint would be the very […] small and out of date dining room and the poor choice and quality of breackfast on offer which was also very expensive for what was on offer. Read more
"Cozy little get away"
This is a very cozy hotel with great hospitality and European breakfast. Highly recommend for a couple or individual.
the location was perfect. room with a awesome view. clean and comfortable room. hotel did not offer transfer to airport needed to do it ahead of time. lift was working so no stairs needed, but glad, too many stairs to 6th floor. breakfast could have been a little better, but still worked for a quick eat.
"Grand Hotel de Gobelins - well worth staying"
I stayed in Grand Hotel de Gobelins just one night - it is very charming - in a traditional old Parisian building, near to several cafes and restaurants, and in a pleasant area to walk around. Very conveniently situated close to metro. Room was tiny but impeccably clean, continental breakfast was more than adequate (and included in the price). For the […] price and location, highly recommended. Read more

"Excellent small, boutique hotel-GREAT location!"
The Hotel des Gobelins was perfect for the four of us (my daughter, mother n law, and aunt)--we shared 2 connecting rooms. Of course much smaller than an American hotel but comfy & clean; the service was wonderful, amazing front desk staff; Jean Marc gave well thought out directions and advice, called cabs etc, great breakfasts and superb location. […] It is literally across the street from the 5th arr but technically in the 13th so cheaper but in the heart of the city. I would stay there again in a heart beat. Thank you! Read more
"Such a good place."
Didn't really know what to expect from this place, but got quite blown away. Such a nice and comfortable bed . bathroom was very clean. But the room was a little small, but I was only there to sleep so that alright. Good internet speed. there's really nothing to put a finger on, maybe the breakfast was a little too much of the same, but it's just a […] bonus, you don't have to eat there. Very pleasing staff. Will definitely recommend this to others. Read more
"A tiny room... but a good service and location!"
I have used to hotel for a convention meeting which took place in a hotel at walking distance. The room is too small for a couple but affordable for one person. The free internet and included (proper) breakfast provide the bare needs for a person who just sleeps in the hotel and has breakfast before the scheduled meetings. Proper value for the mone […] y! "Very Good Stay"
This is a very well located hotel, with a few good restaurants and Carrefour nearby. It is 5 minute walk from the metro. Our room was very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast in the morning was perfect with cereal, French bread, cheeses, hams and croissants. The shower was extremely […] powerful and perfect. Definitely recommend this hotel Read more
A single room is extremely small -- you have to walk sideways around the bed to reach the bathroom. Bathroom is equally tiny. That said, it's very clean, breakfast is delicious (and it's included, nice plus.) Wi-Fi is also included but extremely spotty in service, sometimes so slow it's not really usable. Although technically in the Latin Quarter, and […] a 2 minute walk from the Gobelins Metro station (line 4), it is generally removed from the cafes, restaurants and shops you typically think of in that area. Expect about a mile walk to get to the middle of things (or a 3 stop metro ride.) Overall, good value for the money if you don't mind being a tiny bit removed from the heat of things. Read more
"Great Value"
Considering the extortionate cost of Paris, this place is a real find. It's not a palace by any standards. But it's really well located, with a couple of lovely Bistros in the neighbourhood (I'd recommend Au Bon Coin), and a perfectly acceptable breakfast. The service is pretty laid-back, for sure. But hey, what do you expect for the price?
"Not fancy, but solid inexpensive choice"
Stayed 2 nights during a weekend to Paris. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms where very small and basic, but clean, comfortable and quiet. Hotel was a convenient walk to 2 metro lines and a quick ride to the heart of major attraction areas. The only thing to be aware of is location. The area was safe and quiet, but it was a ghost town in […] the evening. There was nothing open in the surrounding area. If you're looking to be in the thick of the Paris nightlife, you will likely be disappointed. For all others just looking for a comfortable night sleep at a great price, this is a good choice. I will stay there again in the future. Read more

"Grand Hotel les Gobelins - great location"
We did not expect much, but were pleasantly supprised! We arrived at Paris Gare Lyon and walked across la Seine, past Austerlitz train station for about 20 minutes to the Hotel. Les Gobelins Métro station is only 2 blocks away, but we wanted to take in Paris right away! We checked in to a clean small room with comfortable double bed, our own shower […] and toilet, Wifi access and then coffee with a croissant for breakfast. There is a pastry shop across the street if you want to pay for your own croissants or any other preference. The staff are polite, helpful, charming and funny! The next day we walked to rue Mouffetard to see the street market, then on to Severin, then St-Michel, la Seine to Eiffel Tower, Trocadéro, Arche de Triomphe, and Champs Élyssée and returned by Metro to the hotel. Lots of places to eat and drink in the Quartier Latin so no worries at all. The next day we explored the rest of Paris mostly via Métro and returned to to have supper at the pizzeria across from the Hotel - one of the best risotto's ever, and delicious pizza! The next day we headed to the airport via Métro and Rail, very easy to do and we recommend this to everyone instead of a cab! If we return to Paris, we will try to stay here again! Read more
"Buena relación calidad precio"
I think it is always important to consider value for money when evaluating a hotel. In my case I found a very convenient price for Paris standards. Rooms and bathroom are very small (really small) but still they transmitted a cozy atmosphere to my opinion (depends what you expect). Check-in process was very fast and unproblematic, the person attending […] was friendly, attentive and concrete. It was a good choice for me needing a clean room located not too far from two of the main train stations in the Eastern part of Paris (about 8 min walking distance). Breakfast only starting at 07.00 was a bit strange to me so I can't say anything about it's quality as I just left at that time. All in all a good choice if you need a basic individual room for 1 or 2 days (I had a kingsize bed), to a correct rate. Read more
The hotelroom was as expected, small room, but clean and nice. Nice bathroom... The thing I would HIGHLY recommend is the Italian Pizzeria close to the hotel (81 Boulevard Saint Marcel) The pizza there was top notch! :-)
"expensive for a 2 star... no way 3 star"
the room was tiny, it was a triple as it was all they had. You couldnt get into the room without going into the toilet room first, and the door to the hallway was also right on top of the next doors room too. not too noisy which was nice expensive breakfast for cold meats cheese and yogurt cereal. my husband's legs hung over the bed. the tv remote was […] connected to the wall. the curtains on the window kept falling off. the bathroom flodded everytime you took a shower. "good basic"
Our superior double room was quite big if you compare usual hotel room sizes in Paris. Good bed, clean room and simple and good brekfast. Brekfast room is really tiny, so i can imagine that in high season breakfast room is super crowded. Good basic hotel and I could go there again.
"Great parisian accomodations"
Our room had been fully remodeled. The extremely deep tub was luxurious and great after long days walking. The entire room was extremely clean and very well kept. Only downside was bed was solid as a rock (downside for my husband but not for me). The daytime front desk gentlemen was about the nicest hotelier I have ever encountered. He answered questions […] in depth and provided ideas of fun things to do with multiple options. His knowledge of the city and warm smile was greatly appreciated. I speak French but my husband does not. Everyone catered to English speakers without blinking an eye. I think they were often surprised when you spoke French (or attempted it), and were willing to struggle through with you. I would recommend this hotel to couples and families not looking for a giant fancy hotel with a pool. Read more
"Excellent location, and very good value-for-money"
We enjoyed the two days there. The Metro is a stone-throw away, and en route there are cafes, pizzerias, even a Carfour no less. Amazing location. Room was small but functional, bathroom really TINY, but you only take a shower or two a day, and off you go. Reception was pleasant and a couple of them were super-pleasant. The cleaning lady was super-grumpy. […] OK, we were jetlagged, my daughter is 7 years old, so she slept from the morning till 1 pm. We were not told before that either we leave the room by 1 pm or it will not be cleaned. She was very rude. Anyway, we left at about 1:30 pm, after she said that she has had enough and will not clean the room. She, or someone, did. So, all is well that ends well. I recommend the hotel highly if you do not intend to spend all day in the hotel. The location is just unbeatable. And, we had a train to catch from Gare D'Austerlitz, which is 5 minutes walk! The main streets have more shops and restaurants than a city center. It is just a terrific area and a very good hotel. And the breakfast is perfectly decent, albeit basic. Read more
"Superb, little hotel"
Superb, little hotel with a great atmosphere and a very helpful concierge in a wonderful part of Paris which is easy to get to by RER from CdeG airport, close to many wonderful restaurants and with the Quartier Latin on the doorstep. Only drawback was a claustrophobic breakfast room far too small for the number of guests but I would stay there again […] in the future and take breakfast in a cafe Read more
"A decent option"
Located a couple of blocks from the metro "Les Gobelins" (which necessitates at least one transfer to get most places). Room small but comfortable except for the fact of no a/c. (Electric fan provided instead.) Breakfast featured a good quality roll and croissant au beurre + a buffet of ham, cheese, yogurt, cereal, and toast.

"Just OK!"
Very small rooms with only one electricity plug in most of the rooms! Breakfast was very simple. Some of the staff were nice and some very rude! Wireless internet was very good. The location is quite close to metro as well as bakeries, supermarkets, and nice restaurants. I will not go there next time when there are many better and more reliable options […] in Paris. "Grand Hotel des Gobelins"
A small, friendly hotel with a helpful staff. Room was nice and overlooked picturesque Paris streets. Thankful for AC even though weather wasn't too hot because closed windows shut out street noise--sirens, scooters, etc. at night. Only one floor has AC. Although Hotels.com assured we had an AC room, hotel itself insisted they'd "do best we can." We […] were a bit concerned until we checked in. Next door brasserie was charming, had yummy authentic food at good value. Nice after a tiring day of touring. Other neighborhood restaurants equally good. Have to pay extra to access internet without your own laptop. Access was quirky and sometimes unreliable, but hotel gave credit for "non-use." Breakfast handy, hardy, good value--if not gourmet (no eggs, for instance). Truly easy walk to Metro, bus, other transportation. Would highly recommend. Read more

"Great little hotel, conveniently located"
Clean & compact hotel rooms; Typical continental breakfast; Great location; Only problem was that the heaters in the room could not be turned down manually and the room felt like a sauna sometimes (had to open the windows to let the hot air out)
Accomodations fine. Staff attentive. Close to Metro transit.
The hotel was I expected to be. It is a good standard 3 star hotel. I was a bit apprehensive when I walked throught the corridor, which is in need of repair and modernising. However, the room was a pleasant surprise. It was spacious, clean, and generally silent, apart from outside traffic. The bathroom was large and clean also. A nice continental breakfast […] was provided, which was included in our room price. It was more than ample and served in pleasant surroundings. I had few complaints about the hotel. it is reasonably priced and offers good value for money. It is a few stops on the Metro to the 'city centre', which is the only downside. The 13th district borders the 'Latin Quarter' so walking is no problem (20-25 mins to Notre Dame). I was with my girlfriend, so a hotel a little closer to the centre would have been nicer. The surrounding area is fine but is not very picturesque (it has the standard suburban boulevards). although the Jardin des Plantes is closeby and is nice for a walk. On the whole we had no complaints. It was good value for money but maybe for our next trip we might choose somewhere a litttle more central. It depends on what you want though. If I returned on my own I'd have no problem staying there. On the whole it was a good hotel, no major complaints! Read more

"It's good if you have the right expectations"
In terms of approach and feel this is like many independent Paris hotels that have been retrofitted to buildings that had prior use. The public areas were tidy and nicely finished but not really designed for people to hang around and socialise. In a similar manner, the room was functional but not at all spacious and somewhat awkwardly laid out given […] that it had been carved out of a corner space in the building. Here's the thing though I was there for business and you might be there as a tourist. In either case you may have simple requirements that keep you near to the Metro and comfortable at a cost that's not scary. In that regard Grand (actually 'grand' might be a smidge of hype) Hotel des Gobelins fits admirably. I would stay here again because I know what I'm getting and the owners / staff have managed a consistent, clean and friendly place. Read more
"A great value/great find"
We found the hotel simple but well-run and with a very friendly and knowledgabe staff. European feel without a lot of extra amenities--but it was just what we were looking for. Could walk to most of the places we wanted to vist--the rest were within easy reach via Metro. Pizza restaurant down the street was a favorite. Would definitely go back!
"Grand Hotel des Gobelins"
small, but adequate room for 3; good breakfast service and very helpful staff
"Grand Hotel des Gobelins,Parisd"
We arrived to a welcoming and helpful reception. The room was clean and adequately furnished. The WC was well maintained. However, the shower enclosure was rather small and the system was dangerously difficult to control. We must remember to buy shower gel in a hook-on container because this enclosure had no soap dish. Having slept well we went down […] to breakfast. The food was adequate, but the room was too cramped. Perhaps we should have tried room service. Breakast would have been provided at no extra cost. But that would be rather boring! Also there was a bar next door where breakfast could be had for a reasonable charge. The hotel is located in the Quartier Latin, so there was a large choice of bars, brasseries and restaurants. Eating out was no problem. Also there were several Metro stations a short distance away. The Gare d'Austerlitz was also close. So I would recommend this hotel to a friend, with a warning about the few shortcomings. It is OK if the price is right. Thank You Hotels.com Read more
"Would stay here again"
Subway (Metro) was close. By European standards the room size was good and the bathroom was roomy. The breakfast was good, but the breakfast room was very small. The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. She made our stay delightful. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Read more

Read more
