"An old property that is suitable for budget minded"
Overall, this is not a bad place if you keep it in the right context. It is old property. It is a bit tired and run down, but acceptable. The location on the island is nice and it makes a perfectly fine base to eat drink and be merry. We stayed a week and I'm glad I had a car to go out and do some other "stuff" as the food got a bit monotonous. It's […] not that the food was bad, some was and some wasn't. We were there in the low season and it was not crowded, which was good, but the restaurant schedule was a bit erratic. The buffet was always available, but the better restaurants were often not operated, which was irritating. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
My family and I (husband and 2 grown daughters) stayed at this resort the week of June 1-9. As we arrived, so did a tropical storm. The staff worked tirelessly to keep the walkways dry and the guests satisfied. When the storm ended, the resort staff wasted no time getting back to their normally scheduled activities. When I booked this resort, I took […] a gamble. The reviews from February and March were not great. I am pleased to say that the resort was clean, well-kept, the staff was more than amazing. Our room was clean. Yes, the bathroom could use updating, but what was there worked fine - good water pressure, plenty of hot water. The food was excellent. This is the off season so not all the restaurants are open every day. We didn't expect them to be either. Overall, we had a wonderful week! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wouldn't go back"
First of, i read the previous bad reviews and figured the people were being overdramtic. But no, you def get what you pay for. The rooms were tiny and the housekeeping was slow. It was impossible to eat because the restaurants were always closed! We ate quesidillas from the snack bar the whole time. It was POURING rain and they did not even have umbrellas. […] The employees(except the bartenders) seemed annoyed anytime you asked for anything. We used pool towels to cover ourselves since there were no umbrellas and the pool towel guy acted like I was completely wasting his time asking for a dry towel. The food taste was okay overall. The snorkeling was wonderful, but other than that it is understaffed and not enough to do to keep anyone entertained. Wouldn't be back Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The Hotel is beautiful and very reasonably priced. For Scuba Divers its very convenient since the dive operation is right there in front of the beach; Palancar Divers is a great operation by the way. Very tropical experience; two story villas with 4 guest rooms are arranged along the site with gardens, which could be improved, but I got the feeling […] it's a work in progress. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Lobby, The Hotel's architecture is very nice; swimming pool area and Dining rooms are very beautiful. Service is great and the food was very good. Several dining facilities, offer food service almost around the clock in areas of hotel; for example there is the Main Guest Dinnig Room, buffet style, a pool terrace grille and varios Restaurants that alternate opening schedules. "Keep it a vacation. Avoid timeshare hard sell."
They were really pushy about selling timeshare. They called room every morning to "remind" us to attend. When i told them no after the site walk, I was verbally abused. The website said the hotel was being renovated and would be done in April. We were there in June and 50% of the room/ hotel was in disarray and our room was not upgraded. Couldn't keep […] anything in the drawers as there was no support and when you opened them they fell on the floor. Nice location though, they still have a lot of work to do. Don't buy in to the deals they will give you for the 90 minute presentation. Not worth the hassle and the abuse. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Advertised top shelf alcohol but did not carry any. There idea of top shelf alcohol was that it was sitting on the top shelf. The dinner menus never changed not leaving many choices for dinner. Nice beach front property and three nice pools to chooses from.Genuine Expedia guest review

The food was great. The rooms were clean. The beach front view was amazing. very nice staff. a great place for kids also. "Great beach, ok food, stiff pillows/bed, bad music"
The beaches were clean and had beautiful warm, calm, clear blue water, great for relaxing and snorkeling and right in front of the hotel. The music was awful (constant techno pop) and too loud. The buffet wasn't very good but the italian and mexican restaurants and cafe were, as well as the service staff. The entertainment lacked, except for the accustic […] guitarist, he was really good, as were the fire dancers! The mattresses were really stiff as were the pillows. They don't have king size mattresses like offered on line, but pushed two double beds together to make a king. The water did smell a bit like sulfer but they are working on that and it wasn't that bad. The snorkeling trips offered were reasonably priced and worth the time and money. The hotel itself was updated and very nice. Overall, I would go back to this facility again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Don't waste your money on this resort"
The water coming out of shower and sink smelled of sewage/sewer water. The drainage in the sink and shower were backed up. After the maid cleaned our room, I had to find another maid cleaning another room and asked for toilet paper. This resort is located nicely just outside of the main tourist strip of Cozumel with only a short taxi ride either way. The staff are very friendly and greet you each time they pass. "Good place to sleep, but not a "resort""
Good location for scuba divers or if your needs are very minimal. Nothing near the hotel to walk to, so you are limited by the property. Town is $30 cab ride round trip, and munches or incidentals are twice the price at hotel as in town. No hot water, half the time not even as warm as the pool. More than half the time the water smells like rotten eggs […] (in the room, not the beach). Bad wifi signal ( free but in the lobby area only). Credit card machines down at gift shop. Arrange your flight to arrive at the hotel check in time of 4pm, otherwise you are pointed to the beach, pool, bar, or buffet to wait it out, no changing area or indication of bathrooms, so dress in layers that can be removed. Reception desk not at all caring. Reception staff hoping to rope you into a vacation club sales pitch. Very limited food selection (only 2 restaurants open for dinner, the same 2 each night) Waiters, bartenders, cleaning staff and curbside all terrific. Food was usually good and fresh. "Read this before you book"
This is a serious suggestion. Before you book this hotel, take some rotten eggs and leave in your room for a few hours. I was so disappointed about this trip. The entire hotel was under renovation. Restaurants were closed. No one on the staff had a vision for the property and no one got a long. The hotel could be so great if staff just worked together to communicate effectively with staff. The check in process was miserable as well as the restaurants. We waited 1 hour […] plus each night for dinner. Kinga, Karina and Daniel should run the entire property. They are the only three that have any clue what is going on and the only three that value their guests. The hotel MUST start communicating to visitors about the construction and the stage that their property is in or they will have more upset irate customers. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"This is not what we thought we signed up for"
This is not what we thought we signed up for. This is NOT the resort that is advertised. Amenities listed on Expedia are at the sister resort next door. It is advertised to be an Adult only resort and it was NOT. We have been vacationing in Mexico for 30 years in all areas. This is the first time that I was truly embarrassed to state where I was staying. […] The food, or lack thereof, was substandard and cold. At many meals we waited for food to be prepared so that we could have something to eat, as long as 20 minutes. Construction was everywhere on the campus, you had to literally step over paint buckets to get to the pool and beach. Noise started at 0630 every morning and there were workers just outside almost every guest's room. The distance to bathrooms was extreme, and when you finally got there the urinals were out of service, (for 5 days!!). We blame the resort marketing group for the misleading and outright mistruths in advertising but also believe that Expedia should have check it out before placing the information on their website. "Not a good hotel for a vacation"
The hotel was in the midst of changing ownership. Much construction (hammering, saws, painters, fumes). Most rooms in our group had clogged and overflowing toilets daily. The italian restaurant took two hours before food arrived and the service was horrific. We ate off the property for most of the rest of the vacation. Our air conditioner would not […] shut off and blankets were not in the room. The property looked nice but not great. Good luck. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Worst part was probably the quality of the running water - it literally smelled like a swamp! I actively gagged and almost vomited the first morning there when I tried to brush my teeth - switched to bottled water after that. Continuous refurbishing translated to the sound of hammering starting no later than 0800 every morning - not the experience most […] want on their vacation. Food was far too Americanized for my liking. Most likely last all-inclusive resort I will be staying at. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"You will get a lower grade room at check in"
You might get what you paid for if you complain for 2 straight days. Reserved an ocean front room. Our room was not available on check-in, were told it would be available the next day. Put in a smaller room for the night. In the 1st room there was no control for the A/C, phone didn't work, and missing a lamp on the night stand. Staff comes and gives […] us a remote for the A/C, and a lamp - no light bulb. He comes back and gives us a light bulb. The phone was never fixed. Next day we go to change rooms. Room we paid for, still not available. On the 3rd day, after lunch, we find a note in our room addressed to another guest; but it said our room was available. Pack our bags, go to the front desk to change rooms. The manager comes out and apologizes for the smaller room and we'll get a credit for the first 2 nights - still have not received the credit. We go to the new room, and it's not clean yet. So why did they say our room was ready? New room: A/C works, phone works, but 2 ceiling lights and the balcony lights don't work. Oh well. Not worth fighting this battle. Most people we talked had the exact same experience. Got a lower grade room than what they paid for and only got their room after complaining for 2 days. Had a bad experience with staff at the buffet one night. There were also MANY small things wrong (lack of signs, lack of salt and pepper, not given towel cards, slow service). They must pay people to write good reviews, Sabor is not a 3-3.5 star hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is an average all-inclusive. Breakfast, lunch, drinks are fine. The dinner options though are very limited (unless you pay extra), sometimes do not correspond to the menu, and quality is at the level of mediocre diner. Staff, except for housekeeping, is not very helpful or friendly. The rooms are clean but very basic, with no character. I expected […] a two double-bed room, but instead got one decent bed and one extremely uncomfortable pull-out sofa. "Awesome Romance Renewing Resort and Spa"
We upgraded our rooms by calling the hotel personally and we stayed on the Adults only portion of the resort. My husband spent 4 days with a Scuba group to get his certification. I spent 2 days at the spa pampering myself. We had our evenings and remainder of the week together and made the most of the accommodations. This resort is one we were very […] happy with a year ago and they have updated and upgraded the decor and staffing. There is no reason to leave the resort. "Not a hotel for a family with kids or large groups"
There is absolutely nothing for kids to do unless you are willing to leave your child in the Kid Zone area. You cannot play with your child in the Kid Zone and there is only one pool for kids. And if you advertise to families you may want to have very kid friendly food on the lunch and dinner buffets and at the pool grill. If it had not been for the […] hamburger/hot dogs at the grill my son would have been eating snacks bought at the gift shop the whole time. No chicken fingers, corn dogs, pizza slices, etc. were ever available. And the pool grill should be open at all hours, not very limited hours. Also....the bars at the resort close way too early and open way to late. The staff was also very unaccommodating to the wedding party we were with. We were never able to eat together or celebrate in one space at the resort. There were only 15 of us. We were in Jamaica 2 years ago at a Couples resort and it blows this one out of the water but the prices were the same. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not a restful vacation"
Somewhere on the website they should tell you it is very difficult to get into the water because of the rocks and recommend you bring water shoes. They should also inform people that construction is going on, and that you will be hear them hammering, sawing and banging at 7:30 in the morning. While you are laying on the beach instead of hearing the […] sounds of the waves and smelling the ocean you will be hearing an air compressors running and the smell of paint and polyurethane. As you try to make your way to the beach it is an obstacle course, trying to manuever around the many men working, i.e. scraping, painting, pushing wheelbarrows and hand trucks with 5 gallon containers of joint compound and paint. It was wonderful to spend all that money so I could feel right at home in New York on a construction site. The food in the buffet was passable, they seem to be short of staff (but they were all very friendly and helpful). Also there was not much entertainment at night. One place we would not go back to. "Completely Unsatisfactory Experience"
Understaffed at reception 24 hours a day which led to long waits constantly. Our room was not ready when we got there and they told us to wait with no time frame and kept telling us a manager was "on their way". We stayed in the wrong room for the 1st 2 days until our beachfront room was available. On that day we packed and were told that a staff member […] would come get our bags and put them in our new room. That never happened and even worse another couple was put in our old room WHILE OUR BAGS WERE STILL IN THE ROOM (these bags contained an iPad, laptop, passports, cash, etc.) and luckily for us the couple was very honest. We went to the room, knocked on the door, retrieved our own bags from the closet, and brought them to our new room. Additionally, the entire place was under construction the entire stay and work began at 7am every day, often times right outside our window. Overall just a ridiculous experience, I would not go back, and I wish there was someway I could get some money back for our hassles and inconvenience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The only complaint we had is there was a huge renovation project going on. I'm happy to see things being upgraded but that was not mentioned when we booked the resort. Not the peaceful tranquil time i was hoping for by the beach due to all of […] the hammering going on. One a brighter note...the employees go over an beyond making your stay there the best it can be. 2 adults + 2 kids. Love the island - beach is awesome, clear water, sand, shells, shady palm trees, snorkeling, kayaking, sails, wildlife, free rentals at resort, etc. Food was very good and made from scratch - meets, fish, eggs, pasta, potatoes, fruits/veggies, drinks, beer and wine, bottled water. Waiters very friendly and food areas are very clean […] (glasses, forks, etc). No plastics whatsoever except tumblers in bars. There was entertainment every night (Fire Show, some native tribe dancers, Mexican Night / concert, etc. And you can hire local cab to take you around the island, see Mayan ruins or city for shopping. Service even better than in US! We never had safety concerns. Things we didnt like: Caribbean room: floor is tile + sand from beach, we're walking in flops all the time. Room was smelly - after my complaints, maintenance man came, told something about humidity and sprayed everything, smell disappeared. Another man brought fragrance in pot (I was very pleased). Being a re-peat all inclusive goer to Cozumel, I have something to compare against. This hotel was not up to the expectations that I had set in my mind based on our previous trip to a different resort. The food wasn't the best. I was concerned with over eating on this trip, but I think I ate less at the resort than I do at home. The wait staff was ok […] also. You had to go out of your way to get service to bring you a drink at breakfast. The quality of people at this resort were middle aged people acting like they are on spring break. I would be cautious taking a family as the bar poolside would get pretty raunchy mid day. We went with a large group and everyone's room reservations were messed up except for mine. The garden view rooms that 3 couples booked with my group were rooms that faced a white wall where they were woken up every morning at 4am from the noice of the waitstaff. The rooms weren't very clean either...your feet were black if you walked barefoot. Little ants were on the counters. If this was my first all inclusive experience, I wouldn't want to do another one, but being I have been to one before, I know that it was just the quality of the resort. "A bit dated but will be gone soon anyway"
This place has seen better days as much of the place is a bit run down. There is a Secrets resort right next door and I got it from the horses mouth (the front desk) that this place will be changed to a sister resort (Breezes I think) by the April/May time frame. The entire place was undergoing serious renovations and the section in which we were assigned […] had not been done yet. The room's interior was very dark and dated, lighting was poor and everything was well worn. The bed was not uncomfortable, that was a good thing. The fixtures in the bath room had been there for a long time because all of the chrome was pitted and eaten up from the hard waters. Very small ants were a problem in the bathroom but they were thankfully the only bugs that we had in the place. The buffet was typical mediocre fare but the selection was more limited than expected. The breakfast was good - lunch and dinner left much to be desired. Not sure if it was here or not, but somewhere on Cozumel we picked up Uncle Monty's Revenge and we only consumed anything at one other place in town while there for little more than 24 hours.
