Loong Palace has impressive common areas, but otherwise is barely average. Staff is not friendly and not helpful. Rooms have old furnishings and look tired. Food is average at best. Generally, it's "capitalism meets cultural revolution". I would recommend staying at this hotel only if you have business meetings in the area and don't want to commute from central Beijing.

Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jun 18, 2008
The hotel is very nice. Unfortunately, the hotel is also very far from anything of interest to tourists. A cab ride to downtown Beijing ran about 100 RMB and could be as long as an hour. Access to any form of public transportation or surrounding "walk" areas was poor. Even the access to the Great Wall is substandard, since all the tourist buses leave from Beijing! If you're going for business or have a driver, I'd suggest the hotel. To be fair, it's VERY luxurious, with great rooms, great facilities, and great service. But if you're going to experience and sightsee in Beijing, stay somewhere else.

This may seem to be a little expensive for a hotel in China, but just compare it to USD in a large city such as New York. It is a bargain!! The whole lobby is made of marble and there is a beautiful fountain in the middle. The staff can speak some English, but they specifically hired a few native English speakers for foreign guests. They can help you with anything. There is an amazing spa in the hotel and the complimentary breakfast is unbelievable. They bring in fresh baked goods every morning and have both western and Chinese-style food. To get here from the airport, you should just take a taxi. It is very easy and will not cost more than $10 for a 30 minute ride. Just show the driver the Chinese directions given by the hotel.
