Hotel and breakfast was good and the staff very helpful and friendly. However I have never seen so many people wandering around bare foot with drinks in their hands using some delightful language. They were some of your wedding parties. Children were allowed to run up and down bedroom corridors unsupervised. Such a shame as the leisure facilities and the location is very good but I would think twice about returning. Such a shame.

I thought the staff on the reception were first rate, in fact in the whole hotel, my only problem was I could not get an overseas call from my room and the noise of the planes going over the hotel , but I was happy there and comfortable;Thank you.

First room we were in was way too close to nightclub, very noisy and stuffy. Thankfully we were moved to a MUCH better room which was fantastic - quiet and spacious. Staff were excellent and we enjoyed use of leisure facilities.

The hotel is fine. I ahev stayed at the one in Bury which is nicer. The major downside I was not aware of was thta it is an 'airport hotel!' It is right on the flight path. No ear plugs available ffrom the hotel and not at 2 tescos nearby either. A change of rooms did help. Also the pool was full of kids on the saturday till 12pm doing swimming lessons and very little space to swim lengths not a relaxing dip.

The stay was value for money with everything under one roof comprising of a gym, swimming pool, squash courts, bar and restaurant, starbucks coffee and entertainment every Friday evening. Complimentary breakfast was better than expected. Free Parking.

Although the room was in good condition and nothing physical out of place the room was very stuffy and lacked any form of ventilation. You could only open the window 5 cm as it was tethered. Our room was above the main function suite that played music on both nights until 1 am. The hotel is on the main approach flight path of Manchester Airport with flights only stopping for 3-4 hours per night. You will need to make a special request for a quiet room if your are a light sleeper.

I stay in the village group of hotels when I can as they are usually consistently good and have a great gym ( although room service is repetitive) in this case firstly I had guest let themselves into my room as they had been giving a key card for my room, I expected reception to call up to apologise but that didn't happen. The room had mould on the ceiling and the door bathroom door looked so battered it would have look better in a skip.

The room was clean and staff were helpful. Very impressed with the Sunday lunch in the hotel restaurant. The room was very hot though and the windows did not open much but the electric fan provided helped.

This hotel chain has a strange policy of not letting children in the pool after 6pm. Fortunately, the duty manager allowed us an hour as we had only just arrived. Great service.

Quick overnight to see friends down the road, it's the usual Village affair. Good sized pool let down by buffet breakfast which I find is always disappointing in hotels who don't cook to order. I did order some poached eggs but they hadn't come by time I'd finished rest of breakfast. Note that hotel is used by airport crowd jetting off on holiday as it's close by, hence you also get airplane noise at 6am as it's under the flight path!

Staff very friendly and helpfully, decor of communal areas very nice, rooms have had a make over with paint and furniture, no plugs beside bed, ie for mobile charger ect,no mirror at desk for hair make up, Yes mirror in bathroom, but fan no good so all steamed up, pillows, we'll head hits matters, but this would not stop us from staying again, the bar food was good and the resturant food was amazing the first night, so good we booked in family for the next 2 nights, 2nd night not so good, third night again worse, the steaks are amazing! Oysters so fresh, but if you said anything to the waiter, it was not passed on? Felt as tho you your comments didn't mean anything! Out food boll did come to nearly £500, so I was impressed, so my comment that chilli had topped the tomato was ignored and that it probably was a mistake in the kitchen was nt that I was picking! I was only advising, as it was very hot!! Then in the bar I asked for change to play the bandit, and was told there was none in the till????? But I would still go back. Nice stay .

At the weekend children are allowed in the swimming pool till 7pm, which is lovely for them and their families but not relaxing for adults without children and who would like to have a bit of serious exercise. I thought 6pm would have been a good time for children to vacate the pool. I spoke to a lady who has a fitness membership and she had forgotten it was later for children being in the pool on a Saturday, and was really disappointed. We could have gone swimming later but we had planned to go out for the evening, so this time was not possible.

Positives: Looks good from the outside, service and staff great, two restaurants both serving good food with nice atmosphere, big car park. Pool great and good early and late opening times. Negatives: Starting to look tired, table in my room chipped in several places; feels like aircraft from Manchester airport are going to fly through the window; rooms are v.dark even with lights on; the gym facilities are grim..equipment looks worn and tired, broken lockers/doors missing in changing room; severely rusted holders etc in shower cubicles. In short could be great but just average as it need TLC and investment to refurb and refresh. Would I stay again...yes as a business traveller the 'in-house' restaurants make it easy on a night and despite the tired gym etc.. I like to be able to have a work out....if not bothered by that then you will get better for your money elsewhere.

Requested a change of room due to distance from reception, partner has (Arthritis), we did mention this on the booking form but it wasn't picked up (though that may have been hotels.com fault) - Staff were really good, nice restaurant and food, evening and breakfast. Only slight criticism in restaurant background music was uncomfortably loud, both evening and morning and didn't create the laid back romantic/leisurely atmosphere needed.

I booked this hotel for a business trip as I was working early the following day at a local site so needed a good nights sleep in preparation for a early start and very long days work. The hotel is extremely close to the airport and you can hear the planes. There was a christmas party on the night I stayed and I was given a room directly above the function room even though I was not attending the party, I was told the music would finish at 12 which was ok, I called reception again at 12:15 and was told the music would now finish at 1am, the music and noise eventually finished around 1:15am and I managed to get some sleep. Early in the evening the fire alarm went off about 10pm, it then went off again at 3am and all through the night waking all the guests up every 30 - 60 minutes. The hotel itself is not so bad but my experience was terrible and could not have happened on a worse night given the work I had the following day, I am awating a call from the manager to see what is going to be done.

We arrived lateish on a Friday night after a long trip on the m6. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in the chop house which was better than I expected. Our room was basic but ok. The bathroom and bed was clean, the carpet could have done with better attention as could the inside of the drawers. Tea and coffee provided. Breakfast on the Saturday was in the bar as the chop house was full. A decent selection, food hot, coffee good, again waiting staff very friendly and helpful. Saturday night very busy with private parties etc. Alarming knocking noise in bedroom - the. Worked out we must be near the squash courts. Sunday breakfast - almost a disaster - very few staff - had to clean own table - hardly any food left at 9.00 and a long wait for fresh. Waiting staff still friendly but absolutely mortified and one close to tears due to embarrassment. Management nowhere to be seen - a real shame. Bfast eventually assembled by moving between the two rooms but not a relaxed experience.

The room itself I wasn't particularly impressed with, it was small and dark (even with all the lamps on that I could find!). The bathroom extractor fan was broken and there was no window so the room quickly became steamy and the ceiling had spots of mold on it. The back was missing off the tv remote, there were chips out of the paint and what looked like coffee down one of the walls. The main thing that hit me as I walked into the room was the noise - the room overlooked a flat roof with lots of air conditioning units on it. I'm just glad I was so tired I would sleep through anything and that it was cold so I didn't want to have the windows open! Plus points - reception and waiting staff were friendly, breakfast was good, and the swimming pool is a decent size.

I wasn't happy with this place. Mainly because it was overpriced for what it is!. The room was old and worn, the window didn't close properly and then there was a spin class at 6.30am that was really noisy and woke me up. When i asked at reception as to whether that happens every tuesday morning and whether or not it would be a good idea to let people know about it i was told that they didn't know what went on in the gym! This place lacks a manager as nobody seemed to care that much about guests-they had very little structure or direction-i had to wait 10mins to be seated for breakfast!

Stay was ok. The ventilation and air-cooling fans operating on the first floor quadrangle where quite noisy (although not noisier than the airplanes (not of your doing). The planes stopped at night, your ventilation did not! The siting of the aircon units in the enclosed quadrangle caused the noice to reverberate. Poor planning. Opening the window therefore tolet inn air is not an option.

The test of their service started with myself showing up with two bookings wrongly made next day instead of one booking each day. So the day I showed up had no booking. Helen in customer service just arranged in minutes a room for me without any overcharge, cancelled the double booking and all sorted out without any stress. Only thing the room which is at their old wing is ok but not as good compared to the rooms at new wing which I originally booked and got next day. But overall the service has compensated that.

We had a good breakfast and the service was good. However we were very disappointed with the room. The room itself was very dark and decorated in dark colours. The lighting was low and this made it impossible to read in the room. The room was also very noisy as there was a large ventilation unit on the roof outside the rooms which was running all the time. We could hear doors being banged constantly . The room was hot and stuffy and the fan provided did little to alleviate the situation ( it was not a particularly hot day either). The window could only be opened a few inches due to security locks and the noise of aircraft flying just overhead every few minutes was very loud day and night. The lock on the bathroom door was not working , neither was the extractor . There was a plate for a hook on the bathroom door but the hook was missing so clothes became wet on the floor while showering.I would definitely not use this hotel again even if it was on a reallly good offer.

The staff werevery friendly. However the beds were terrible. Very lumpy and uncomfortable. Spent 3 nights there and didn't get any sleep. We stayed in a family room, and there wasn't any air conditioning. It was very hot and stuffy in the room (especially in the hot weather we have recently had) The windows only opend by 2 inches, however they did provide us with a fan, but all it did was circulate the warm air around the room. The hotel looks fine outside, but inside it is dark and oppressive. The corridors are grey/brown throughout and the ceilings are very low. Our room was dark, one wall had a grey and black horizontal stripe wallpaper. The room was quite small, the bathroom felt like an added cube in the corner. It was so hot. The windows don't open more than an inch and there is no air con. There was an electric fan, but that is not really ideal to keep on all night. Food is ridiculously expensive - £11+ for a burger. It is pretty standard frozen chips / scampi etc, didn't feel home made at all. The location makes it difficult to eat anywhere else without driving. Breakfast is average - the usual bacon and eggs, fruit, cereal etc, but again the room was so dark and low. When we were seated the waiter asked if the table was okay, we asked to sit near the window and were told those tables weren't available - why ask if there's no alternative? The best thing about the hotel is the swimming pool which is clean and a good size. Other reviews said it was full and crowded, which we could imagine as it is set up as a leisure club for the local area. We hit it at a quiet time and it was fine. We booked it as it seemed ideally placed to use public transport to get to the cricket ground. It isn't. The bus service is infrequent at weekends, the nearest station is a mile away and means a journey into the centre and back out again. It is expensive, the food is really not great and its location isn't ideal.

Hotel with a leisure centre/healthclub, good atmosphere in the public areas. Needs some TLC, the staff are good, nice breakfast.

Based on my time spent at the excellent Village hotel in Leeds, we decided to stay at this Village hotel as it was near friends we were visiting and not far from M60. There couldn't be any further apart in terms of quality. First of all we were given a room above the gym, we woken at 7am to an onslaught of dance music and shouting from downstairs. We hoped the music would subside it didn't so I went down to reception to complain thankfully there was another room to move to that was quieter even though it was twin rather than double. But I think it is very poor for a hotel to offer this as room a hotel room due to the noise without any warning. Breakfast was very poor. Staff were on the whole nice and friendly. Rooms dated. Bathroom small and non-working extractor fan. No air conditioning. In summary I wouldn't stay here again, will be staying at the Best Western where we stayed on our previous visit.

Staff very friendly, hotel very busy, room a bit shabby and SO HOT!! It was the hottest day of the year and no air con in our room, window opened about 1cm and noisy machinery outside window. Fan in room but just blew the hot air around. It would have been fine in the middle of winter. If you're given room 103 I suggest you ask to be moved.

The only problem we experienced was with Experia. Having requested a twin room, Experia had omitted this request on their booking with the hotel. When we arrived we were booked into a double room which was not suitable. Fortunately, we were placed in the last twin room by the Village who, as usual, were very helpful. Not sure what we would have done if there was no twin left. Beds are without doubt the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in and the pillow are offered in a range from soft to firm. Glad of the fan, which was extremely quiet, when the temperature was 27 degrees. TV was ok as one would expect. Breakfast really fresh and tasty as we have come to expect. Perhaps the only thing we are not keen on is the menu in the bar and the Chop House so we tend to eat out. We did have a steak Panini in the coffee bar but would never have one again or recommend it!

Very pleasant staff, with discount vouchers given for drinks, meals etc. Was a nice surprise! Lots of space around the hotel, nice places to sit and relax. Swimming pool was an added bonus with good facilities.
