"Good hotel all round"
The staff werevery friendly. However the beds were terrible. Very lumpy and uncomfortable. Spent 3 nights there and didn't get any sleep. We stayed in a family room, and there wasn't any air conditioning. It was very hot and stuffy in the room (especially in the hot weather we have recently had) The windows only opend by 2 inches, however they did provide […] us with a fan, but all it did was circulate the warm air around the room. If you do book this hotel, please ensure you have an airconditoned room, or else you will have a very uncomfortable stay. The breakfast was good and there was a great swimming pool Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wouldn't recommend this hotel."
The hotel looks fine outside, but inside it is dark and oppressive. The corridors are grey/brown throughout and the ceilings are very low. Our room was dark, one wall had a grey and black horizontal stripe wallpaper. The room was quite small, the bathroom felt like an added cube in the corner. It was so hot. The windows don't open more than an inch […] and there is no air con. There was an electric fan, but that is not really ideal to keep on all night. Food is ridiculously expensive - £11+ for a burger. It is pretty standard frozen chips / scampi etc, didn't feel home made at all. The location makes it difficult to eat anywhere else without driving. Breakfast is average - the usual bacon and eggs, fruit, cereal etc, but again the room was so dark and low. When we were seated the waiter asked if the table was okay, we asked to sit near the window and were told those tables weren't available - why ask if there's no alternative? The best thing about the hotel is the swimming pool which is clean and a good size. Other reviews said it was full and crowded, which we could imagine as it is set up as a leisure club for the local area. We hit it at a quiet time and it was fine. We booked it as it seemed ideally placed to use public transport to get to the cricket ground. It isn't. The bus service is infrequent at weekends, the nearest station is a mile away and means a journey into the centre and back out again. It is expensive, the food is really not great and its location isn't ideal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Hotel with a leisure centre/healthclub, good atmosphere in the public areas. Needs some TLC, the staff are good, nice breakfast.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Bedroom above Gym, noise unbearable"
Based on my time spent at the excellent Village hotel in Leeds, we decided to stay at this Village hotel as it was near friends we were visiting and not far from M60. There couldn't be any further apart in terms of quality. First of all we were given a room above the gym, we woken at 7am to an onslaught of dance music and shouting from downstairs. We […] hoped the music would subside it didn't so I went down to reception to complain thankfully there was another room to move to that was quieter even though it was twin rather than double. But I think it is very poor for a hotel to offer this as room a hotel room due to the noise without any warning. Breakfast was very poor. Staff were on the whole nice and friendly. Rooms dated. Bathroom small and non-working extractor fan. No air conditioning. In summary I wouldn't stay here again, will be staying at the Best Western where we stayed on our previous visit. Staff very friendly, hotel very busy, room a bit shabby and SO HOT!! It was the hottest day of the year and no air con in our room, window opened about 1cm and noisy machinery outside window. Fan in room but just blew the hot air around. It would have been fine in the middle of winter. If you're given room 103 I suggest you ask to be moved.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good all round hotel, great breakfasts,"
The only problem we experienced was with Experia. Having requested a twin room, Experia had omitted this request on their booking with the hotel. When we arrived we were booked into a double room which was not suitable. Fortunately, we were placed in the last twin room by the Village who, as usual, were very helpful. Not sure what we would have done […] if there was no twin left. Beds are without doubt the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in and the pillow are offered in a range from soft to firm. Glad of the fan, which was extremely quiet, when the temperature was 27 degrees. TV was ok as one would expect. Breakfast really fresh and tasty as we have come to expect. Perhaps the only thing we are not keen on is the menu in the bar and the Chop House so we tend to eat out. We did have a steak Panini in the coffee bar but would never have one again or recommend it! "Hotel for family and for two."
Very pleasant staff, with discount vouchers given for drinks, meals etc. Was a nice surprise! Lots of space around the hotel, nice places to sit and relax. Swimming pool was an added bonus with good facilities.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is in a good location. Public areas are well maintained. Our twin room was very small and crowded. Bathroom was quite small too.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great stop over"
Although near the airport, so a bit noisy, a very nice place to stop. Staff were warm and friendly, the food was great and nice real ale too. A 25m pool!! and sauna/steam rooms that were actually up to temp at 6:30am. Very rare. Free wifi worked well and plenty of free parking. The only low point was that there was only a portable fan in the room and […] it was 32C. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
2 night stay in room 309. Very spacious room and bathroom. Hotel a bit scruffy here and there but kept very clean. Site facilities are great with 2 options for meals, starbucks coffee and spa facilities which were great except for the unpleasant smell in the steam room. Breakfast was excellent as was the service everywhere in the hotel. Will be staying […] here again in next Manchester visit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK - if desperate."
Having stayed in the Village chain many times [albeit the previous stay was about 5 years ago] it was noticeable that they have moved downmarket. The executive room was big, but lacked drawer space, toiletries and the general functionality was not up to expectation. The breakfast was at best tolerable, with little choice of cereal and no bread other […] than sliced for the [ineffective] toaster. We did not use the gym/pool facilities. Although adequate, generally not a pleasant experience and have no wish to re-visit. The decor is dark and claustraphobic in the breakfast room, and oppressive in reception.. Hotel room was between 27 and 30 degrees C during my stay, window did not open morethan 1 inch they gave me fan but still was hot in thereGenuine Expedia guest review
one of us had the bad fortune to become ill during our stay and the staff were very accommodating, allowing us to keep our room for several extra hours free of charge. This was much appreciated. We always enjoy staying here and find the rooms comfortable and the staff friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pleasant hotel - restaurant needs some work"
The hotel is conveniently located and the room was clean and comfortable. However, there were problems with the restaurant. We had our 16 month old with us and the receptionist had not booked him a highchair and we had to keep him on an ordinary seat until one was available. Also the food from the children's menu was very salty, particularly the chips, […] and was not really suitable for someone so young. We then had a problem with the bill - there was a special rate if you were dining early but we were not offered this and were massively over-charged. We had to argue with them to knock a considerable amount off the food bill. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

For the price of this hotel, i was expecting a lot more. The room was very small and dirty. Thrre was dust on all most every inch of the room. The shower tiles at the side had not been cleaned properly in a while.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is fine, room was good - much better than last few stays here, bar staff very friendly but my god the whole breakfast experience was awful!! What made it worse is that I emailed a complaint to the hotel and they haven't even acknowledged it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"close to airport, but poor hotel"
The room I stayed in was one of the standard rooms, it had no air conditioning just a radiator which was small and hidden behind a large curtain so no use at all. The bathroom was tiny, falling apart (lights hanging out of the ceiling) and dirty. Breakfast was to say the least very poor, sausages were not cooked properly as I think they rushed them […] out. I can not fault the hotel or the facilities apart from the only one problem was at breakfast time the staff was casually dressed so it was hard to tell who was staff and who was customers we was not offered any tea or coffee so that was disappointing and also there was little hot food when we arrived for breakfast there was only scrambled egg and bacon […] and there still wasn't any 30 mins later when we left but other than this it was a nice hotel to stop in Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Arrived late and the receptionist made me wait while she finished some paperwork. I was given room 413, at face value it was clean, modern and well presented. Unfortunately, the double glazed windows weren't the best quality and seemed to be a bit wonky . They wouldn't shut properly. So I had a noisy night of airplanes landing and noisy traffic. "Village Hotel, Cheadle. Jan 2013"
Room was fairly clean and comfortable, but the decor is jaded, its been the same for the last 3 years, door frame near lock damaged, which isn't good and there was no hot water in the shower. "Budget hotel quality at 4 star prices"
Nice reception area, welcoming staff, reasonable breakfast and free wifi. That's about all the positives. The rest of my experience was just awful, including a door frame that looked as though it had been hacked to pieces around the lock area, lukewarm water in the bathroom, mildew covered shampoo dispenser and a shower screen with no seal that results […] in the whole bathroom floor covered in water. I had what appears to have been a faulty extractor fan in my first room which gave off a loud screeching noise. The person at reception volunteered she would come to investigate within 5 mins; 15 mins later no sign of anyone and then to find that she had gone home at the end of her shift! For the price I paid, I could have stayed at a good 4* hotel in central Manchester. The hotel appeared full, so either I was just unlucky (although I saw 2 rooms and both were shabby and with similar issues) or they are taking advantage of the fact there is little else in the area. I will be staying in Manchester in future and travelling in to Cheadle rather than staying here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A busy hotel"
I enjoyed my stay but probably would not return. Although the room was comfortable the overall experience was less than expected. On arrival the reception was crowded due to groups waiting for a pantomime to start, we could not find a seat to sit at to enjoy a coffee after a long journey. The bedroom was fine but did not like the plastic wall dispencer […] for soap. Was kept awake by disco below and then woken early by low flying aircraft which continued throughout the morning. Room was clean and comfortable, but the decor is becoming jaded as its been the same for last 3 years. Received a discounted rate which was about right for what you get. "OK if you need to stay in the area"
The hotel is average, but staff were all pleasant and helpful. They provided a good breakfast with plenty of choice. The room was the only real negative. We had one of the "refurbished" rooms, but the overall condition of walls and carpet was poor, and some bits of furniture light-weight and shabby. The sheets were a little too short for the bed. "De Vere Village Manchester"
The hotel is in the direct flight path to the Manchester International Airport. This is an extremely busy airport with flights arriving every few minutes. Low flying aircraft makes this a very noisy hotel, even at night. With no airconditioning in the rooms and windows open this just adds to the noise level. Overall the hotel is well maintained. "You get what you pay for"
I wasn't entirely disappointed with my stay. Beds were comfortable and basically, you get what you pay for. My only serious complaint was about the level of noise coming from the function room which went on until 1am and then the partying of the guests didn't stop until 5am. No one seemed to care about the other guests in the hotel and how they were […] affected despite the fact that I made two complaints during this time. "Too hot to sleep"
The hotel rooms do not have air conditioning which made them stifling and very uncomfortable to sleep in. Opening a window is not an option as the hotel is under the flight path for Manchester Airport. We were not advised that the restaurant was closed for refurb, leaving the Victory pub style bar as the only option for dinner and breakfast. Vegetarian […] options were very poor and limited. We had to wait 10 mins to be seated for breakfast and then had to use lounge chairs. "Not up to standard"
Despite request for twin beds, a room with a double bed had been allocated, so that took time to resolve. Room was boiling hot with no air con - a fan had been provided, but it did nothing to actually cool the room. The mattress on the bed felt like it would tip you on to the floor at any moment - really bizarre! There was no seal on the bath screen, […] which meant it leaked water all over the bathroom floor and wouldn't stay in position without being wedged with a towel. Breakfast was OK, but it took ages for the staff to bring glasses for juice and why was there nowhere to put teaspoons except for straight on to the table? The de Vere Venue nearby is better value for money and serves a better breakfast - will go back there next time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cheadle Village noise"
It is the world's noisiest hotel. Doors slam all hours of the night (particularly on a Saturday night when a wedding is on,) the soundproofing is poor and planes take off from the nearby airport through the night (certainly in the summer months.) And because there is no air con, it's hot enough that you need the window open so the noise of the planes […] is magnified. It's a nice enough hotel in many ways, but because of the noise issue (and we've stayed there twice now, and had the same issues,) I would only suggest staying there (on a Saturday in particular) if you are a very heravy sleeper and you take earplugs.
