"Excellent location and close to everything"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The hotel and staff are wonderful and we will definitely stay there on our next visit to Barcelona! The room was very clean and neat and the daily maid service was exceptional. The front desk staff was very professional and courteous. Wi-Fi in the room was excellent. Walking out of the hotel and looking up at the Cathederal every morning was surreal. Beautiful hotel and wonderful location!

The hotel was clean and neat, the staff very helpful, and the bathroom was great. We also found the price fair and reasonable. The view out of the back of the hotel was not the best- apartment back porches and dirty laundry, so keep the curtains closed.

"Unbelievably Great Service"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Stayed for a five night family vacation. Our room for three was very nice with a king bed and sofa bed. Efficiency kitchen with dishes and silverware and cookware. Compact refrigerator. Very well located in Eixample neighborhood one block from metro station. Easy walk to many restaurants and the Passieg Gracia or upper part of the Rambla Cataluna. However the BEST was the service of the front desk. Whatever the request they were ceaseless in their efforts to please and accommodate. Information, directions, recommendations for eating and transportation, ticketing. The staff could not do enough for us. This is service that is rare to find in the amenities industry: a true personal touch. My family can heartily recommend the Acacia Suites for a Barcelona vacation. The only negative for some is that it is not located directly on Plaza Cataluna or the Rambla but if you want a quieter neighborhood, with a local feel it is a very nice place.

Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas. The former is the city's medieval core, a maze of atmospheric alleyways clustered around the splendid Gothic Cathedral. Quirky specialist shops and characterful bars and eateries abound. Don't miss the Museu Picasso and the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, as much for their palatial settings as their content.

"Great Hidden Location"
Off the main drag in the heart of old town. Walked to most main sights. One of the city's top 30 places to eat is just across the alley. Modest but large room and bath. Friendly and helpful staff.
"great location but room small and no AC!!!"
very very small room cant really move, no AC!!!
"Metropole in Barceno -- GREAT locatiojn"
This is a very good and clean hotel with modernist furnishings. The lobby is quite impressive. The room are clean and comfortable but a bit basic (not that there's soemthing wrong with that!). Limited amenities, like toiletries. .It is located about 2 short blockes from the waterfront and withihn a block (or across the street from) a number of good, […] reasonable, and aythentic restaurants. The staff is helpful and speaks English. Read more

"Hesperia Metropol - Little Noisy..."
Great location. Average amenities, price was great in the winter for location. The only problem was that the walls were extremely thin (I could hear the guy in the room next to me snoring) and the construction started around 7:30 in the morning which was loud as well.
"Good location - safe area"
The hotel was a couple blocks walk from las ramblas. There were many restaurants nearby. As a single female I felt safein the hotel and surrounding area. Hotel offered free Internet. Only downside of hotel was no AC in room but windo did open. Overall it was a nice hotel forth price and location.
"Skip this one!"
Although the location on the map puts you in the Gothic area...it was very disappointing and dreary when shown the room. We passed on the first inside room and the 2nd was very small and not clean...but on the street side. This seemed OK until the bar across the street opened. It was loud! Impossible to sleep. I felt like I was in a hostel. Certainly […] not worth the price. Do youself a favor and look into other hotels...and pay a bit more if you have to. el a 1 star rating...based on US standards. I'd give this hotOr, stay at the airport area (i.e. Renaissance) for less and they offer free shuttles into downtown...only about 15 minutes. Read more
"Kind of iffy but it did the job"
The Hesperia hotel in Barcelona was a good hotel for the area. Our expectations were to get a nice roomy hotel room however limited space seems to be the norm in a city like Barcelona unless you have tons of money to spend on a five star hotel. Customer service was good and the staff was very helpful. If you want a "nice" hotel for the money in Barcelona […] you can't go wrong with this place. Read more

"Average hotel in good location"
Hotel room was small and very noisy at night, but this is a decent choice if you want to spend time in the gothic quarter and be close to the coast. However not recommended if you have a car and need parking. It's even impossible to park in front of the hotel for a few minutes to drop off your luggage.
Got the impression that if you book through Hotels.com the office person is turned off. The room we got was not too bad except for one important factor. The portable closet (with the safe in it) was positioned at the end of the bed on one side. The result was that one of the doors would not open all the way making utilization very difficult and trying […] to read the safe numbers impossible. Not recommended. Read more
"Hesperia Metropol"
The hotel was very clean and in a perfect neighborhood! We were within walking distance to La Rambla, great restaurants, the beach, and bars and clubs. Other reviewers have reported that it was very noisy at night, but we had a room on the inner courtyard and didn't get much noise from the street at all. If you are worried about noise, just ask for […] an inner room. I would recommend this hotel to others and definitely stay there again! Read more

"Good Location, Meagre offerings"
You get what you pay for at the Hesperia Metropol. The location is fantastic - right in the heart of the old city with close-by metro stations. Rooms are clean and relatively comfortable, but tiny. Very helpful staff. The rooms aren't the best, but who stays in their room when the city is right outside?
"Close, but no cigar"
Hesperia Metropol was a very clean and neat hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. However, there were several drawbacks which would cause me to search for another hotel should I return. (1) The location is OK. Definitely walkable to La Rambla and the Metro, however about 3 blocks away. (2) The hotel only offers free WiFi in the lobby and charges […] for computer internet use. (3) There is a bar (Ryans) directly across the narrow street that was VERY loud until 2am Thurs and Fri and 3am on Sat! If you need sleep . . you won't get it here until after 3am. (4) I paid for a 2 bed room, but since I checked in as 1 person, I received a 1 bed room (twins bed only of course) and the room was very small, but nice and neat. The bed was actually less firm (i.e. hard) than my hotel in Madrid. A definite plus. (5) They charge for the breakfast buffet ($8.30 Euro per day if you pay in advance; $12 Euro if you don't), which I'm sure was nice, but to save Euros, I ate out for breakfast. There are several places to eat on the same street which is great and a definite plus. The area is very safe and as a single female traveling alone, I had no fear staying in this hotel. If you must, go for it, but there are other Hesperia's in Barcelona that I'm sure aren't across the street from a noisy bar. Read more
"Barcelona Hesperia Metropol"
Hotel was in good location near Las Ramblas and close to Metra stations and Gothic area. Sparse but clean accomodations. Bed a bit hard. Only complaint is that a bar opened up around 11PM and was very loud until 2 or 3 AM which made it hard to sleep as our room sided to the street. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Great bakery down the street for breakfast. […] Felt safe and there were police patrolling area as well. Read more
"Less expensive in Barcelona"
The hotel was certainly adequate. The only drawback was the lobby had a sewer smell.
"great!"
very nice hotel located on the gothic quarter, very bohemic surroundings. just not so close to the metro, but you can walk, it´s barcelona. Very nice instalations and facilities and clean. Only at night is a little noise because of the restaurants outside, but you have it all really close, markets, bars, restaurants and walk distance to las ramblas […] .... Read more
"Hesperia Metropol"
We rented a couple of rooms in different floors and they did not clean the rooms. when we called the front desk they said that they didn't have anyone to clean the room and that we could not expect a 3 star hotel to clean the rooms every day. Our room bathroom was not clean and they left a wet shower cap. I will not recommend this place to anyone.
"Great for the Money in a Great Location"
Me and my GF stayed for 4 nights in Barcelona. Our room was nice! New floors, must have been renovated recently. Only complaint was the bathroom had little ventilation and the ceiling was beginning to mold. The smell of that did get bad at times. We kept the bathroom door open and used the AC to draw out the moisture. The room had a balcony onto the […] street Ample. . Its a pretty busy street restaurant and pub wise so it was cool to look out at night. It was noisy until pretty late (about 3am). If you're a light sleeper make sure you get a room away from the street. Bed was 2 doubles pushed together.. but thats what you get most of the time in Europe in this class hotel. (in our experiences). Fridge and safe in room. Had a small TV. Staff was helpful. Great location.. walk to the beach and Las Ramblas. Definitely recommend it to young people that want to see Barcelona and experience some nightlife. Read more
"Gothic quarter"
My S.O and I stayed here a few days after coming back from a cruise. This hotel was conveniently located near all attractions. There were several bars, restaurants, and grocery stores located directly across from the hotel. It is in walking distance of "La Rambla" and the new indoor mall on the port. We walked everywhere, even to the "Temple Expiatori […] de la Segrada Familia". The bathroom was large and clean. It would have been nice to have a full bed as opposed to two twin beds pushed together but we managed. The desk staff were professional and spoke English but were not exceptionally friendly. As others had mentioned the walls are thin so there is little privacy where that is concerned. Read more
"Generally ok"
Some front desk staff very friendly and helpful but others cold and distant. Rooms noisy. Noise from external sources and also from other rooms.
"Good for the money paid"
It's a safe, clean and great location. The only thing to think about never take a low floor rooms because the noise of the street will not let you sleep. You will have two options, request a room face inside yard or higher floor, but I still think you will hear noise. Other then that its a small and nice hotel for the money.
"Great Location, Mediocre Hotel"
Hesperia Metropol is located in an outstanding location. Within short walking distance to the beach, Picasso museum, Las Ramblas, Metro station, etc. This is the greatest asset of the hotel. Be aware that if you have a hotel room on the street side it will be very noisy, car noise and honks, and late night bar patrons will keep things noisy. But if […] you can deal with the noise the location is well worth it... Read more
"Very good value and no complaints"
A very good price for Barcelona, Excellent location and we had no complaints, everything worked as it should, very clean, staff helpful, 4 good nights sleep
"good location"
We were initially told by Hotels.com staff memeber when we booked that we would have a double bed for the full length of our stay. Unfortunately we had only 2 single beds pushed together. The beds were very hard and we did not enjoy a good nights sleep due to the hardness of the beds and also the noise outside.Apart from this the hotel was fine and the […] staff were excellent. "Good value for money!"
A very good central location. Small but nice rooms and bathrooms. Bed was a little hard, an overlay might have helped. The glass in the minibar was obviously just washed quickly by the housekeeping staff, found my own lipstick on it the next day. The Irish pub across the street was very noisy, but that's one of the drawbacks with a central location. […] The tapas restaurant Sensi across the street is highly recommended! "Reasonable price, great location"
We stayed at Hesperia Metropol for 4 nights. Spacious, clean room with clean bathroom. Ten minutes walk from La Ramblas and the Barceloneta beach. Good over-all service, the desk spoke English. Would stay again. Affordable price compared to other hotels in the city centre,
Excellent location and good value for money; helpful staff and clean and secure room.

"Hesperia Metropol, Barcelona"
It was fine in most ways. I wouldn't stay so near La Rambla again. The room was cheap because of low season, i wouldn't pay full price, it wouldn't be worth it. If you want to be neat the marina and shops and get a reduced rate, go for it, it's probably much nicer than many joints in that district.
"hesperia metropol"
Everything that was stated on the website, was spot on...no complaints, wish a deal could of been offered for the breakfast being that i had booked in ten adults....just a thought in the present financial climate...(it could of helped us and the hotel)..

"Hesperia Metropol, Barcelona :)"
The hotel is very conveniently located due to being just off La Rambla. There are many bars nearby aswell and the marina is just a few mins walk away. Check out is by 12 which was amazing as we stayed out late the last night. Breakfast can be added when arrive. :)
"Hesperia Metropol Hotel BCN"
This hotel's main attraction is it's location. The rooms are extremely small. We booked two rooms ( 0ne each ) which overcame the problem but really feel the rooms are not suitable for two people. There was absolutely no view from either rooms. In fact room E 02 was awful, just pipes. There are no Tea/coffee making facilities. As we were of this before […] booking we bought a kettle from Argos before we left ( € 6.75) & left it there on our departure. The TV is a small portable one with all Spanish speaking channels execept MTV which played " Date my Mom " & " Pimp my ride " back to back. Having said all that, the room & bedding were clean & who goes to a fabulous place like Barcelona to sit in a hotel room?? Taking all into consideration!! Yes!! I will return to this hotel for it's exceptional LOCATION!! LOCATION!! LOCATION!! Read more
Small room but OK for the price. Very close to everything. I can recommend it.
"Hotel near La Rambla and the harbor"
The hotel is situated close to the harbor and La Rambla with several small bars and tapas places just outside. Busses and trains are also in short walking distance. The hotel itself has friendly staff and the basic accommodations required for a business or holyday stay. As with all hotels in a city center it is not totally quiet, but noise levels are […] acceptably. Read more

"Hesperia Metropol Barcelona"
In a good location so could walk everywhere.... polite staff but cramped room only sufficient if you are out a lot. There was a smell of damp in bathroom not pleasant but it was wet... thunder storms ... Ok if left windows open 24/7
"Hotel Hesperia, old town Barcelona"
Basic hotel in a very good location near the Barceloneta beach, gothic oldtown, many restaurants and unique boutiques. Room was clean, but very small and got loads of noise from the corridor and outside. We had a window towards the open area at centrum of the building, and every time somebody showered or flushed the toilet we got all the sounds into […] to the room, because the wastepipes where build on the walls. But if you a good sleeper you wont be bothered of the sounds. Read more
Maybe a little noisy at night for some ......but its in a great location minutes from la rambles. Nice room clean, cleaners came in everyday, friendly staff. Would recommend.
"Great location"
We were able to find many good restaurants and places to visit. The room was small but clean and very quiet even though their is a pub right across the street. Glad we took a cab to find the hotel but after that we could walk to Ramblas and the Hop on Hop off bus.
Very central hotel close to beach and La Rambles.
"Central, hence noisy"
The hotel is located in the centre of the old town (Gotico), has a nice entrance, a good lobby with seperate sitting area and breakfast area, and the staff at reception is welcoming and helpful. The rooms at the front (street) are of a good size and have a great balcony. But - and this is a big but - there is a terrible amount of noise in the night, […] coming from a bar opposite the hotel, from young people sitting on the side walk chatting and laughing all night and from people on skate boards doing their thing. After a night without much sleep, we asked to get another room, which was no problem at all and immediately possible. This room was very silent. A bit small though - in ours it was hard to open the wardrobe, because the bed would get in the way, but hey: we slept! Read more
"Hesperia Metropol - great location & clean rooms"
Our stay at the Hesperia Metropol was fantastic, it's located right off Las Ramlas and just steps from the beach boardwalk, metro, cathedral, picasso museum and many many other city sights! "The Hesperia Metropol-Barcelona"
This hotel is conveniently located not to far from a metro stop and still within the confines of Barcelona's gothic district. I have trouble with mobility so location was important. I read the reviews that were negative, saying that the rooms were to small or it noisy and while I can't deny either my argument woul be that its in a big city, one of […] the oldest parts, and while the room may be small (it's not tiny) it's only a room to sleep in really. If you're doing more than that you're not seeing enough of the city. My advice would be to stay here but understand that it's in a central location so there's bound to be noise, and while the rooms may be on the bijou side, they're clean and pretty comfortable. If you don't think you're going to like it then by all means pay more for a better place to sleep if that's your priority. Mine was to see as much of Barcelona as I could and this hotel was ideal. It wasn't the Ritz, but wasn't a shed either. I went to see a city but not a hotel room. Read more
"A smelly Hotel"
Our 1 night stay in this hotel was a terrible experience. When we arrived, the lobby has a foul odor- a smell coming from the sewer system was our guess. Then when we got to our room, it was hot the air conditioning was not on. So I called the hotel desk And they sent someone to reset a.c. And to wait 20 minutes. We left the room and came back 3 hours […] later to sleep, but the room was stil warm so I called hotel attendant and was told that the air-condition "is not working tonight, we will fix it tomorrow, sorry". This hotel is a No Star hotel Not a 3 star! We felt we need a refund! Read more
