This hotel is a great find. Very close to the downtown weekend market and other sites. Hotel staff attentive and personable. I will definitely stay when next in Anchorage and will recommend this hotel to others. There is no restaurant on site, so no room service (although continental breakfast is served) but big hotel right next door has a coffee shop […] and bar. Room has a sitting area, so you don't have to sit on bed and watch TV. Room was clean and big. The only thing I would suggest they add is a small fridge. Overall, great hotel. Read more

The windows did not lock. I was on 3rd floor, but the other room windows were very close to mine. I thought it was strange. I'm glad I didn't get room 303, it seems to get a lot of paranormal activity, according to the book of experiences they keep.

I stayed at the hotel for five days. It was very comfortable and the front desk managers were very helpful. I loved the location with it's ease to walk throughout the downtown area. I only wish I knew about the historic part of the hotel earlier. It was one of the only buildings in the downtown area that survived the 9. plus earthquake in the late 90s. […] It was filmed and reviewed by one of the ghost finding shows on cable. Terry, the GM, was very nice, accommodating, helpful and sweet. The charm of the place is fitting for Anchorage. The rooms were not your latest and greatest (exterior retrofit electrical boxes), but they did have enough of what I needed. To think that this is a landmark and offered enough amenities was great.

This place is a real gem. It is supposedly haunted and the actually keep a log book of paranormal activity. I didn't see anything, but you do get the feeling the place is full of history. The rooms were nice, although you should let the water run quite awhile in the sink. The old pipes make the water yellow at first. Tub is small and slippery. Historic often means there's something interesting about it. This place is cramped, old (despite flat screen tvs and new bedcovers) and inconvenient in many ways. For example having to park across the street behind some builds. So you have to walk back and forth putting parking passes on the window and bring it back when you leave... the one way streets […] make it even more difficult. Construction outside int he streets. The rooms are so small... the toilets are cramped behind a door, the bar hasn't been opened in years and breakfast consists of make you own waffles and bagels. Read more

Loved the decorum of the old hotel, the bar/breakfast room in particular. The staff were very friendly, and always helpful. The comfy bed made for sound sleeping. The bath amenities were especially high class. Included breakfast was satisfactory, with excellent coffee, but quality of food could be pushed up a notch.

Very noisy and no air conditioing. We should have known when we noticed the room had a noise canceling machine, which my wife hated. Our room was across the street, a busy intersection, from a noisy bar. Little sleep that night.

Booked this hotel after reading some good reviews, but was disappointed because of the loud noise coming from the street until 2-3 a.m. As if half Anchorage together with their cars and motorbikes gathered right under our window and had a great party. (Maybe because it was Saturday?) Our neighbours changed their room next morning, we luckily had booked […] only one night. If you decide to choose this hotel make sure to ask for an inside room if you plan to sleep at all. Otherwise the staff was very nice and friendly, and they had nice breakfast - included in the price - with fresh waffles. We booked a room at the last moment and the staff was very helpful. The room was great and a fantastic location right in downtown Anchorage. Breakfast was more of a continental breakfast and room did not have A/C. Being Alaska that was not a big deal and the fan more than made the room comfortable.

The hotel had character and a great location for walking to the good restaurants and museum. Be aware, however, that there is no air conditioning and even in summer in Alaska our rooms were stuffy. The staff is very friendly. The hotel is in the center of downtown and is great for walking around. It needs some updating though. The internet did not work that night nor the next day for the meeting. I had to explain something that should have been interactive on-line. Not quite the same impact. Hotel is historic, so rooms are small and some have no view, which is ok if you are there for a meeting as I was. If you are there as a tourist, then request a room with a view.
