Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Fint men nothing fancy"

THIS HOTEL HAS AT ONE TIME BEEN A 4 STAR, THE STAFF IS NICE AND UNEXPERIENCED FOR A 4 STAR, I GIVE 5 TO THE LADY THAT DOES THE ROOM. ANYWAY THE HOTEL IS BEING REPAIRED HERE AND THERE, AS THE POSSIBILITY IS GIVEN, IN 2 OR 3 YEARS IT WILL REGAINE ITS FULL 4 STARSGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was nice, the beds were comortable and the braeakfast was good. The hotell-staff were helpfull. Over all a good place to stay. The only thing is you have to be prepared to take a taxi or a bus to go to the city centre because of the location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The Hotel is located in a nice neighborhood location, the entrance is on a side street where there is construction going on. Also, there are cafes, restaurants and markets a few blocks away, not ideal but safe neighborhood. Clean room, typical breakfast. For my purposes it was comfortable and easy to get around locally. Taxi to tourist area in Rome takes about 10 minutes.

"Peaceful retreat from the madness of Rome"

Quiet and charming hotel, situated up a side street, in a residential area. The outside is attractive and inviting - leading into a lovely marble reception area. All the staff are welcoming, smiling and most helpful. The rooms are a good size, with excellent bathroom facilities. Rooms 306 and 307 have a double walk-in shower, within a huge bathroom. Very nice linens and very comfortable bed. The breakfast is very good, with plenty of choice. The wifi is free with fast connection. There is a lovely patio, which is a suntrap and perfect for pre-dinner drinks. The hotel staff helped us with transport information and recommended an excellent restaurant - within 5 minutes walk - where we ate every night. The clientele was 90% local and offered amazing feasts to delight any palate. We spent 4 nights pre-cruise and 2 night post cruise and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
"Small, quiet but comfortable"
11/03/14 TallyHoSussex Sussex
Four of us stayed for several nights before and after a cruise and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is off the beaten track in a residential area but we enjoyed the peace and quiet and found a great local restaurant that was recommended to us by the hotel and this became our 'local' for the six nights of our visit. I have to admit we did find ourselves walking considerable distances to get to the centre and managed to get lost somewhat but we did eventually find the nearby tram stop and also the taxi rank is quite close - but we enjoyed the challenges of exploring on foot anyway. The hotel is quite quirky with lots of nooks and crannies and small seating areas - there is a small bar and breakfast room and little terraces outside where you can sit and catch the sun with a drink. It's not really a tourist spot - probably more business travellers but again we quite liked that. Rooms are comfortable and vary in size and decor and the lift is definitely minuscule but one person and four suitcases fitted in! I'm happy to use the stairs! If you want a small, comfortable hotel that is away from the hustle and bustle then I would recommend Hotel Rivoli.
"Hot and Cold in Rome!"
10/07/14 Xgerian Singapore, null, Singapore
We booked 2 rooms at the hotel for 5 days. What we love was the breakfast even it was same everyday, but a good variety for changes. The beds was comfortable. What we didn't like was the toilet shower, extreme hot or cold... Need to keep switching to get right tempreture! No ironing board in bedroom, extra change for that.
"Great Hotel and Staff"

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Overall it is a good hotel. The room and bathroom were a nice size. Wifi was always working and fast. The lift is small, but at least they had one. I will just give you the bullet points. - Great Breakfast - We stayed at 3 hotels during our Italy trip and this was the best breakfast and the only one with hot eggs and ham. They had homemade pastry, cakes, muffins, and jelly. So good. - Location - I liked the location because it was not in the center of the busy Rome City. It was nice to stay here after spending the entire day in the crowded city. There is a tram (#19) that is only about a 10 min walk from hotel that will take you straight to Vatican City. You can buy the ticket on the tram. If you walk maybe 20 mins, is the Piazza del Popolo. From this Piazza, you can walk to the Spanish Steps, Colosseo, Trevi Fountain (the fountain was under repair when we went and it was covered by construction stuff). There is also a taxi stand about a 5 min walk from the hotel in the Plaza. Walk to the plaza to get a taxi or you will pay more if you call them to the hotel. You will need a taxi to and from the train station. There is a really nice park on your way to the Piazza del Popolo and they have a zoo. -Staff- They were great. They answered any questions we had and gave us good directions. -Restaurants and Grocery Store- There is not much as far as restaurants in the area. There is one place, Carioca, about 2 blocks and it was really good. There is a Carrefour about another block from that restaurant that has anything you may need. I would stay here again. Thanks.
"Great Location - Clean - Modern"
09/29/14 Bob F Reno, Nevada
We stayed at Hotel Rivoli for several nights. This modern hotel is clean, nicely decorated and has a very helpful staff. Our spacious room was equipped with an in-room safe had a very interesting euro-shower. You could select from one or more of the shower heads including one overhead, four on the walls and a hand sprayer. It took a little getting used to but worked great. The only downside was the poor WiFi that ranged from non-existent to slow. Overall, it was a great place to stay!

We were really worried about this place after reading all the previous reviews for this hotel... Turns out that things have changed and our stay was very comfortable. The hotel's decor was good, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast spread was the best we had in our entire Europe trip with cakes, croissants, yogurt, fruits, cereals, jams, juices, eggs, etc. Our room was of a comfortable size, with a large balcony. The wallpaper in the room is a bit old fashioned. The air con was working, the receptionist was available for our questions and the service for prompt. They seemed to have fixed all the issues people have raised the older reviews. The only thing to note is that this place is far away from Rome's top attractions. The only way to reach attractions is by bus, and buses are very unreliable in Rome. They are never on time and we found ourselves waiting a lot. A good option would be to rent a scooter. The hotel is located in a very beautiful residential neighborhood.

How this hotel has garnered a 4-star rating is questionable indeed, as the only thing we could see contributing to that accolade were the décor and the professionalism of the reception, however professional as they may be, failing to resolve a customer issue is still failing to resolve a customer issue. To give context, we arrived in Rome in the first week of June, having visited Ravello and Amalfi for a friend’s wedding. Yes, we knew Rome would be scorching and humid when we got there, which was why we chose a hotel that offered air conditioning, such as the Best Western Hotel Rivoli. We had prepared for long days of trudging around grandiose landmarks, piazzas and riversides, safe in the knowledge we could come home to our hotel and kick the air-con up to an arctic climate that we would be most happy with. Unfortunately the Best Western does not offer air-con. Yes, the websites say they do, and yes, they have a big white unit with a wall-control box, but this is not air-con. Air-con regulates the atmosphere and temperature of a room. This great big white excuse blew out a puff of cool air so weakly that it got about 3 inches from the vent and dissipated. Meaning we had no escape from Rome’s heat for entire stay, save for jumping into Bulgari or Hugo Boss for a blatant 10 minute window shop, red-faced and damp-backed and obviously not about to buy anything! We immediately raised the issue of the AC unit upon arrival, knowing full well we couldn’t handle three sweaty, sleepless nights. Not to mention trying to get ready for evenings out. The reception promptly sent up some fella to tinker with the dials and the unit. The result? No change. We gave it a day then asked the morning receptionist, as we were leaving for the day, to look at it as it appeared to be broken. 6 hours later when we returned we asked how they’d gotten on. The receptionist replied “It’s fixed.” They’re idea of fixing? Opening the balcony doors….! To add context, on this day it was over 35 degrees outside. At this point we gave up on trying to resolve the situation. I ducked into a couple of other rooms I saw being changed by the maid to see if their air-con was any better but all the units were the same and all the room temperatures the same too. We weren’t going to get anywhere so we ended up grinning and bearing it. Which, for my girlfriend was difficult as she has medical reasons for needing to regulate her temperature, not over-heat, etc. The best we can do is advise other folk who have similar susceptibilities to the heat to avoid Hotel Rivoli. Otherwise it’ll be a loooong trip! The Pros; - Grandiose décor in the communal areas. Very much looks the part. - Staff conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. - Room had a nice balcony, albeit not one we wanted to use given the room was nothing we could use to cool down in after. - Comfy bed. The Cons; - The pitiful excuse for air-con, as stated above. - The bathroom stank of sewage and worse. Constantly. - Shower wouldn’t pick a temperature, often shifting from cold to piping hot. When you’re trying to cool down after a long day’s walking the last thing you want is a hot shower! - The breakfast consisted of mostly stale bread, croissants, etc. and sweaty meats. Only thing we ate was the boxed cereals and the scrambled eggs. If we’d had to pay for it we would’ve complained. - The concierge called us a cab one night, who turned out to be your standard crooked cabbie who takes you the ultra-long way round (we’d been in Rome two days and knew the routes, as we had walked them, well) for what could have been a quick journey. Not sure if this is the hotel’s preferred taxi company but worth noting here I think.
"An interesting place"
05/10/14 Andrew P London, United Kingdom
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and on arrival the inside looked very ornate and dated, however, once you enter the room and ignore its decoration style, it was a very nice and clean hotel. The room was spacious with a large bathroom and excellent shower. The location suited us as we liked the quiet residential area about a 25 minute walk into central Rome or 15 minute bus ride. It has some great local restaurants a short walk away were the locals go. The service was average and there was some building works but they didn't impact on us. Breakfast was basic and not worth paying anything additional for.
