Gran Hotel Bahia Del Duque Resort - Adeje

The Gran Bahia del Duque is a nice hotel. I found the staff to be helpful, but not overly so. For instance, at the pool, trying to order a drink was sometimes difficult. The hotel claims to be part of a chain of hotels that are the finest in the world. In this regard, I felt they fell a little short. I had an excellent stay, but was not blown away by […] the service. Maybe my expectation was higher. Upon check-in, we noted the hotel was very empty. We requested a better room since ours had no view and was very small and was positioned over the kids area. I was not happy with the process, the move or the helpfulness of the front desk. We were changed but for the hassle I was not sure it was worth it. Left a bad taste in my mouth. For the remainder of the stay, we felt that given the emptiness of the hotel, they could have done us better. The entertainment at night, once we discovered it on our own, was fun. Restaurants and food was good. Breakfast was nice but not incredible. I love strawberries and you had to request them every day to get any. The warm pool up top was nice, but it was difficult to sit around (the pool is not designed to have chairs around it). The lower pool was much too cold. Access to the beach was nice and easy. Weather was 22 celcius during the day, and 16 or 15 at night (we were there in early March). While I enjoyed the island and the hotel, I would probably go back and stay somewhere different. We booked the Gran Hotel Bahia Del Duque as a special birthday treat and the quality of the hotel and its service were everything we could have hoped for. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, which in my experience is not the norm in Spanish tourist hotels. The hotel grounds were beautiful and the overall ambience very relaxed - exactly what we […] were looking for. The hotel offers a superb breakfast buffet which keeps you going until dinner time! There is a good choice of restaurants although we always prefer to eat outside the hotel so can't really comment on them. One of the best aspects of staying in a hotel of this quality is the level of service you get from staff - from a quick and efficient check-in to assistance with transfers, late check-outs etc. The concierge team were especially helpful in booking restaurants and excursions for us, and the excursions (while not the cheapest) were of excellent quality as the hotel only wants to work with suppliers who provide the best experiences. Our whale-watching trip was in a smaller boat which would have taken only 6 or 7 people but as luck would have it we had it all to ourselves. This meant we got right up close with the whales - contrasting with the experience of the 100 or more people on the giant catamaran 100 yards away from us. Overall, while the Gran Hotel Bahia Del Duque is expensive (by our usual standards), you really do get what you pay for. Read more

We stayed at the Bahia Del Duque for 10 days towards the end of August. We have a 5 year old boy who needs entertaining and Del Duque is just superb for children. Loads of pools, lot's of entertainment and the evening entertainment for children was of a high quality. Our little boy loved every second we were there. The beach is right out of the Hotel […] rear gate and was clean and well stocked with loungers. I don't want to gush but the food was great, the staff superb and very friendly, the room was perfect and we all had a great time without a single thing to complain about. Your experience may vary of course, but for us, whilst not the cheapest hotel around, our 10 day stay was well worth the money. Just returned from 5 nights/6 days at this hotel. Although it was very busy (UK half term) there were plenty of restaurants, pools and sun-beds such that we never lost out to the early rising, bed reserving brigade. We ate outside of the hotel a couple of times and there was very little difference in price so we didn't feel that the hotel restaurants […] were overpriced, although poolside drinks were a little steep. I would recommend the whale watching trip, we saw dolphins, pilot whales and swam with turtles. This hotel is built on a steep hillside and so there are a lot of steps. Although they have golf buggies to take you from top to bottom I would not recommend it to those unsteady on their feet. Overall the hotel is fabulous, with so many different areas to explore. Great views and great for families . The only draw back was that we thought the beach was part of the hotel. In fact it is a public beach where you pay for sun-beds, parasols etc. There are no complimentary water sports at this hotel. Read more

The hotel is a self-contained complex, located on one of the nicer beaches on the island. We used a number of the hotels in the complex and all of them were high quality both in food and service. There was a good variety for each evening's entertainment and plenty of different facilities during the day.

It truly was the most wonderful, relaxing holiday I've ever had. The hotel is truly divine. Not in a gaudy, posh or sumptious way, but beautiful. We were upgraded to a sea-view (even better) and our room was excellent - we were greeted by a delicious lemon fragrance on entering the room. All the typical 5 star facilities were there but it's the details […] that count. The sun-loungers on the balcony, the ceiling fan, the abundance of towels, candles, huge waterfall shower and deep bath, fluffy slippers and robes - and of course the welcoming box of chocolates! They turn down your bed every night and leave 2 chocolates with it that my boyfriend and I started to look forward to! The staff are all welcoming and very friendly and the hotel is exceptionally clean. There are a few fitness classes laid on (aqua-aerobics and abdominales) and squash and table-tennis are yours to partake in or not. Despite the hotel's evident size, it never felt noisy or cramped with sun-loungers spread throughout the 5 or so pools! It was like an oasis of serenity and relaxation. We went half-board, which, although not cheap, offered an abundance of food. The buffet is themed every night and you can choose the meat/fish you want and have it cooked in front of you. Unlimited amounts and it's also superb quality! The evening entertainment is varied and actually quite enjoyable. All in all, I would go back tomorrow if I could! Read more

Bahia del Duque is one indeed one of the Leading Hotels in the World. We have visited many many top hotels all over the World, but in the Bahia, everything seems to be organised to the very detail. We liked the super personal friendly staff, the comfort of the hotel, rooms and beds, the great public beach sand beach just in front. Prices of the restaurants […] were quite high, but as we took half board, we got 20% off, which is reasonable considering the quality and choice. We always took the buffet restaurant, although they have many other speciality restaurants (Spanish, Asian, Italian, French, ...). We tried one of the speciality restaurants once, but were a bit disappointed that we had to pay an extra amount for some meals, whereas in the same menu in the buffets restaurant was included in the half board. Furthermore: Great pool area (some heated), and entertainment in the evening. What we (and many other guests) found quite disturbing, was that after the evening entertainment show, the staff cleared all the tables and chairs directly after the show, whereas all guests where still enjoying their drinks at the table. Overall, we would definitely recommend this hotel to friends. We had a great holiday on top level. Finally, try the hotel's observatory to watch some stars at night, we loved it! Read more

Der Service in den Restaurant ist meiner Meinung nach nicht immer 5-Sternwürdig, aber im grossen und ganzen sehr gut. Preise eher hoch. Sehr schönes SPA. Schöne Pools, die WCs sind nicht immer […] sehr sauber. Beim Hauptpool sind nur 2 WCs vorhanden, bei vielen Gästen eher zu wenig. Service irreprochable, sourires de tous les membres du pesonnel, disponibilité et écoute - excellent! Emplacement au calme à coté de 4 ou 5 grands hôtels face à la mer en accès direct sans routes à traverser. Plage de sable gris mais propre et large équipé de parasol et de transat (10€/jour).
