i stay here everytime i go to to daytona which is twice a year but sorry to say this is my last time at this hotel. they sold the hotel to stenson university for a dorm.

Hotel is older and has been sold to Stetson University. So the last few months of 2013 is their swan song. The location is great! Downtown Deland is fun, with many restaurants and shops to explore. This was our last stay, due to the sale but I would absolutely stay there again, because you can't beat the location.

The University Inn is an older, but very well maintained hotel. Nothing fancy, but nothing bad. It was comfortable, clean and the staff was courteous. My only complaint is that the free breakfast was the absolute worst I've ever seen at any hotel/motel anywhere. Kind of a joke, actually. This Hotel was an older kind of neat building with a little charm to it, Inside the room though was very different, everything was new and you could tell alot of effort had been taken to update everything. Flat screen TV, nice mini fridge and microwave, desk, and couch. All appeared to be newer and in good shape. Small breakfast not alot of choices […] the day I was there, but its free so... It needs refurbishing. It's very old, and nothing is being spent on mainetnance. It is very convenient, and the residential neighborhood, and all the trees and birds, are just lovely.

Rooms were musty smelling. Something was inadvertently left behind in room 118, but when I called back to have it sent to us, they said they could not find it.

saw cockroach in the room before going to sleep, and had some yahoo's out at the pool drinking half the night, kept us up till 1am.

Killed a couple of roaches in our room, iron had the tip of the sole plate broken off, continental breakfast was minimal: juice, milk, coffe, cold cerial, toast, muffins, wireless intenet was inoperable, they said somebody cut the cable and seemed in no hurry to fix it, room had a distinct oder. This hotel was right across the street from the school, which made this trip easy. The beds were a little hard, but serviceable. The A/C was difficult to balance. The continental breakfast was good and the staff very friendly.

This place is great if all you need is a clean place to lay your head. The place has a little age on it but my room was clean, bathroom was clean, staff was friendly, and it is in a nice location. The only reason I wouldn't go back is because DeLand was not conveniently clase to where I needed to be. But other than that, it's a 10.

I enjoyed the hotel stay. I also enjoyed parking my VStrom motorcycle in sight of the constant surveilance cameras for extra security. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Friendly employees, clean room, nicely decorated, all the usual amenities (free breakfast, workout room, micro & fridge, pool, iron & board, hair dryer), quiet, well maintained. Bed was a little too hard. Best part was the rate during the Daytona 500 - less than half of other motels. Easy access to hiway to Daytona. We were very pleased!

When we 1st walked into the room it had a bad odor of urine. We had to use a stray to take care of the odor. The desk personal were friendly. Not sure I would stay there again thou.

Great location- nice being near/on Stetson U campus. Very nice area for walking dogs. Hotel BEDS were crippling. The mattress/box springs are originals, first ones they ever manufactured. This hotel easy to find on a main road almost in downtown DeLand FL. "L" shaped building on 2 floors. There is a large clean swimming pool. When you stay here you are probably on business or a skydiver, DeLand has a large well known dropzone 2 miles from the hotel. This is not a vacation town. The rooms are a good size, well furnished, air conditioned, […] with fridge and microwave. Service friendly and welcoming, buffet breakfast not exciting but adequate. Plenty of parking. Hotel is right next door to a good quality buffet restaurant, so it's possible to dine without driving anywhere. My only very minor gripe was about the plastic magnetic strip door keys. During a six night stay I had to have the key card reprogrammed twice, I was told if you keep them in a pocket or wallet near a cell phone or credit cards then the mag strip can get corrupted. So where is one supposed to store the key? I would stay there again. Read more

Stayed in this hotel for one week for our honeymoon. It was ideal for us. Far enough away from down-town that it was quieter, not so far away as to be outside of walking distance. Beautiful rustic feel matched the rugged beauty of the surrounding mountains nicely. The two person jacuzzi in our room was a nice bonus.
