"Best nearby airport hotel in the Halifax area!"
The Inn is a lovely and friendly place to stay. Would love to spend more time there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A wonderful stay"
Our first time to NS was wonderful. The hotel was beautiful and convenient. The rooms were larger than we expected and the balconies overlooking the lake were a perfect place to sit and visit into the night. Breakfast the next morning was great. The food excellent and the staff was friendly. It was an excellent adventure. We hope to return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Absolute Kind and helpful staff. Nice room. The hotel has a Special style that differentiates it from all the other Standard Hotels.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great place to stay. Close to the Halifax airport"
This was our second stay at Inn on the Lake. Both times were great. The rooms are nice and the staff is friendly. There are a few places to eat on the property which makes it very convenient. The food is quite good. The atmosphere at the inn is pleasant as it sits on a lake. Very much above your average airport hotel. Give it a try the next time you […] are flying out of Halifax. "Last night in Nova Scotia"
Selected the hotel for its proximity to the airport and the water view. It was recently remodeled and very comfortable. Our room had fireplace which we were surprised to find we would need in May, and really enjoyed it. Only stairwell access to 2nd and 3rd floors, but help is available for bags. Checked in and receptionist was most gracious in ensuring […] she found just the right room to meet our needs. Small pub downstairs for dining but nothing special and we chose to drive downtown to take advantage of great seafood restaurants in Halifax. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Basic cookie-cutter hotel from the 70's or 80's"
After days in super-friendly B n B's the formality and bureaucracy at the front desk was a let-down. Fine for a one-night stay enroute to another B n B ;-) Decor is dated so interesting to be 'back-in-time'!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Charming decor and beautiful view of the lake."
Loved walking around the lake and grounds. Thoroughy enjoyed our visit and plan to return soon.Genuine Expedia guest review
"building with charm"
Close to the highway is a drawback but other than that this hotel is high class. And the restaurant is very well run. The meals here compare in price to the Keg, but the quality is higher. Excellent meal !Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable Hotel with Character"
Very nice, clean, attractive hotel. Would probably be very nice in Spring/Summer/Fall. Friendly service.Genuine Expedia guest review

Response by Inn on the Lake, an Ascend Hotel Collection Member Dear Lynn, Thank you for taking the time to review us on Expedia. I really appreciate the nice comments and hope to see you again in the future. Sincerely, Ron Nelson Innkeeper
Even though it is right off the busy highway the grounds are very peaceful on the lake with a gorgeous little stream. I regret we didn't have more time to experience the restaurant- the menu looked very promising!Genuine Expedia guest review

Overall very nice stay. Excellent restaurant on premises. We arrived several hours before allowable checkin and were able to check in early. Close to airport.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Rooms in the hotel were very clean and comfortable. The food and bar were excellent. We used the hotel as it was close to the airport, had we known how good it was we would have stayed longer. The hotel is central to many tourist destinations around HalifaxGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place for few nights getaway!"
This place was a nice clean place to stay with plenty of amenities. We stayed here for two nights right after our wedding. It was nice and relaxing complete with double hot tub right by the bed and an electric fireplace. Would recommend to anyone else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, convenient, and very pleasant i"
We used this hotel on the last night of our visit since it was close to the airport. Very clean, comfortable and convenient with courteous, helpful staff. Although we did not use the restaurants on site, we thoroughly enjoyed the room service and highly recommend the Farmer's Breakfast!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Restaurant and lounge were great, fantastic atmosphere. However, restaurant overlooked the pool, so, we didn't do any swimming plus it was very small. Hotel was very close to highway, so could be loud if you wanted peace and quiet.Genuine Expedia guest review
Excellent service. Great room. Love the 2 person tbs in the roomGenuine Expedia guest review
"Boutique alternative to Chain Hotels"
Nice alternative to the usual chain hotels. A little out of the city (Halifax/Dartmouth) but a fairly short trip. Very friendly and accommodating. Pretty good value for money. Restaurant/bar food pretty good. Good selection of local microbrewery beer on tap.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great place to stay!"
What a beautiful spot. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very large and comfortable. It was a great way to start our visit to the East Coast.Genuine Expedia guest review

I have stayed in nice hotels before, but I would have to rate this one as my favorite so far.Genuine Expedia guest review
there for a 1 night stay after travelling all day. Bed was very comfortable and Mary the shuttle driver was extremely helpful. The stairs and lack of an elevator are an issue for seniorsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice hotel, difficult experience"
The hotel is very nice, but I found the front desk staff difficult. My flight was delayed coming in and their shuttle ends at mid night, so I paid $36 for a taxi one way (about a 7 min drive). Then there was a change in our departing flight early in the morning, but unfortunately we needed to go to the airport to rebook and were not able to do so over […] the phone. When I asked if we could return to our room after changing the flight (check out is at 11am and it was only 6:30 am) I was told the shuttle would not come back for us (myself, pregnant, and my 2 year old daughter). So we spent 11 hours in the airport, when I wanted to let my daughter sleep a couple more hours in a bed that I paid for. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"nettes kleines Hotel"
Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Gutes Hotel nahe Airport Halifax"
"Gorgeous, even in the dead of winter"
02/23/15 Jenna B
My boyfriend and I stayed here after a flight cancellation during a winter storm, when all other hotels were booked. For a difference of only $20 from the standard room, we opted for a room with a king bed and whirlpool tub; this upgrade is a must. The bed was hands down the most comfortable that I have ever slept in at any hotel, and the tub was exactly what was needed after a long day of sitting around the airport. The pub was kept open late for the influx of delayed travellers, and the drinks were absolutely fantastic. Encore for breakfast was wonderful as well, if a little on the pricey side. The free shuttle to the airport was greatly appreciated the next morning! Late check-out was also no issue, with no additional cost. We will definitely be returning in the summer, so that we can experience the hotel during peak season!
"Amazing Port In a Storm Or Anytime"
02/22/15 TequilaNovaScotia Amherst, Canada
We were caught in a storm at arrival at Halifax Airport and our regular hotel, where our car was parked, was booked solid. All airport hotels were to full capacity due to the storm and flight cancellations. Our regular hotel contacted Inn On The Lake and they had 6 rooms left. It was a 10 minute tricky drive, after we got our vehicle out of the snow and ice, but a pleasant surprise. This is a beautiful hotel but feels like a very small Inn. What a delight from the staff to the room and the food. We had a late dinner in the pub and it was excellent. We also had a wonderful breakfast. The rooms are lovely and they each have a private balcony. The views were spectacular even during a storm. I can only imagine what it would be like in the summer. It sits on a lake with beautiful grounds and open area. We stayed here in the 80's before it was renovated and enlarged. We will not wait as long for our next visit. I daresay, that any guest that complains has "super" high expectations. My only criticism is...that the rooms are tight if you have 2 double beds. A Queen room is more spacious. They also have larger rooms and 2 floor family suites. Thank you for allowing us to be your guest and hope to see you soon..

Just about the cutest place I have ever stayed at! I unfortunately only got to stay here for one night, but it was a great experience. I got there pretty late into the night after a long day of travelling and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms. The bed was amazingly comfy and the internet worked extremely well. They served a warm breakfast in the morning. Would definitely stay here again if I have the chance.
"Quiet, comfort, great food... sit back and relax"
02/02/15 Jocelyn M
I had my second stay at Inn on the Lake in January 2015. We were part of a business group. This is an ideal location to get in and out of the cities of both Halifax and Dartmouth and it is near the airport. Being winter, I wasn't able to experience the grounds, but the interior of the Inn is clean and quiet and very relaxing. I was so excited to open the door to my room and have a jet tub, electric fireplace and the most comfortable bed! There was also a good size balcony - which I didn't use in January! BRRR... I ate in the restaurant and we had catering as well. All food is delicious. Might even be worth a visit just to experience the restaurant. Staff was very attentive and kind. In my opinion it is a place I would visit again and again and choose over some boxy chain hotels. It is obvious this place is run with care. I would love to visit with my family in better weather. I hope my employer continues to choose Inn on the Lake to hold our annual meetings at.
"Very freindly staff, quiet beautiful location"
01/12/15 Simona M Fall River, Canada
Clean, very nice place. Looks beautiful, every time we pass close to it my girls are asking to go there again... They liked it and we did too. The restaurant was really nice, the staff was very friendly and helpful during our two nights stay while we relocated from Ontario to Nova Scotia. Great place to come and relax from the busy life of a city...

We chose Inn on the Lake because of its proximity to the airport and because of its location on a lake. it appeared to us that it might be possible to take a walk there after a long day in the car (NOT!) It is right on the highway and the pictures are rather misleading. The pool was much too cold for swimming on a mid June afternoon. The room was typical- nothing unique or special. We would not chose to go back there. Staying in Halifax would be much more interesting.

This is a very nice local inn near to Halifax. So if you don't want the craziness of the downtown area, with some beauty and quiet, this is your place. The inn is well kept with some very nice decor. Feels like a more personal place than a Hilton or a Marriott. Staff very friendly. Restaurant was excellent. Food is all local and fresh. Chowder was thick and full of seafood. Wonderful.
"Country style, clean, hospitable..."
10/30/14 Pdorgan Newmarket, Canada
Rooms are clean, hotel is defiantly country style.. The room I stayed in had a gas fireplace, I don't know if the all do, and the room was a good size.. I did not see an elevator, so I am not sure but acess if you have mobility issues, you better check with hotel if that may be an issue. There is a bar and restaurant but I didn't use them... Pricing seemed reasonable for quality
"Not Pleased !!"
09/20/14 WTheTraveller Milton, Canada
Stay in September 2014 was not too bad. It sure is an old hotel and right beside a busy highway. We we're given two breakfast coupons with a value of $13.00 each. This was for the so called FREE breakfast. Don't exceed the allotted amount or you will pay the extra. My complaint is that we didn't get breakfast because their PROPANE system was broken. The receptionist/Manager on duty was not allowed to credit us for a missed breakfast and told us to contact the unavailable hotel manager. We have since emailed them with the email address and hotel manager name given to us but they don't even have the courtesy to respond. For a ASCEND hotel this is unacceptable. Choice promotes ASCEND hotels as their high class brand. I have styed at a lot of Comfort Inns at were better than this hotel.
"hard to find in the dark....but worththe trip"
09/16/14 Poppaholdfast Mahone Bay, Canada
great facility....we got a room that opened onto the pool area......supper outside on the deck....a lovely room.......unfortunately there is a noticeable dim from the highway traffic (but that should not be considered a showstopper)
