"Last night in Nova Scotia"
Selected the hotel for its proximity to the airport and the water view. It was recently remodeled and very comfortable. Our room had fireplace which we were surprised to find we would need in May, and really enjoyed it. Only stairwell access to 2nd and 3rd floors, but help is available for bags. Checked in and receptionist was most gracious in ensuring […] she found just the right room to meet our needs. Small pub downstairs for dining but nothing special and we chose to drive downtown to take advantage of great seafood restaurants in Halifax. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"building with charm"
Close to the highway is a drawback but other than that this hotel is high class. And the restaurant is very well run. The meals here compare in price to the Keg, but the quality is higher. Excellent meal !Genuine Expedia guest review

Even though it is right off the busy highway the grounds are very peaceful on the lake with a gorgeous little stream. I regret we didn't have more time to experience the restaurant- the menu looked very promising!Genuine Expedia guest review

Overall very nice stay. Excellent restaurant on premises. We arrived several hours before allowable checkin and were able to check in early. Close to airport.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Rooms in the hotel were very clean and comfortable. The food and bar were excellent. We used the hotel as it was close to the airport, had we known how good it was we would have stayed longer. The hotel is central to many tourist destinations around HalifaxGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place for few nights getaway!"
This place was a nice clean place to stay with plenty of amenities. We stayed here for two nights right after our wedding. It was nice and relaxing complete with double hot tub right by the bed and an electric fireplace. Would recommend to anyone else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, convenient, and very pleasant i"
We used this hotel on the last night of our visit since it was close to the airport. Very clean, comfortable and convenient with courteous, helpful staff. Although we did not use the restaurants on site, we thoroughly enjoyed the room service and highly recommend the Farmer's Breakfast!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Restaurant and lounge were great, fantastic atmosphere. However, restaurant overlooked the pool, so, we didn't do any swimming plus it was very small. Hotel was very close to highway, so could be loud if you wanted peace and quiet.Genuine Expedia guest review
Excellent service. Great room. Love the 2 person tbs in the roomGenuine Expedia guest review
"Boutique alternative to Chain Hotels"
Nice alternative to the usual chain hotels. A little out of the city (Halifax/Dartmouth) but a fairly short trip. Very friendly and accommodating. Pretty good value for money. Restaurant/bar food pretty good. Good selection of local microbrewery beer on tap.Genuine Expedia guest review

there for a 1 night stay after travelling all day. Bed was very comfortable and Mary the shuttle driver was extremely helpful. The stairs and lack of an elevator are an issue for seniorsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice hotel, difficult experience"
The hotel is very nice, but I found the front desk staff difficult. My flight was delayed coming in and their shuttle ends at mid night, so I paid $36 for a taxi one way (about a 7 min drive). Then there was a change in our departing flight early in the morning, but unfortunately we needed to go to the airport to rebook and were not able to do so over […] the phone. When I asked if we could return to our room after changing the flight (check out is at 11am and it was only 6:30 am) I was told the shuttle would not come back for us (myself, pregnant, and my 2 year old daughter). So we spent 11 hours in the airport, when I wanted to let my daughter sleep a couple more hours in a bed that I paid for. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"nettes kleines Hotel"
Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Gutes Hotel nahe Airport Halifax"
"Really helpful after a terrible start to our vacation."
09/01/14 potiphar Crossville, TN
Delta changed our departure time by 2-1/2 hours, we arrived at the Halifax Airport at 11:30, found that Priceline had not included any Insurance in their Car Rental charges with Hertz (Added $400) Hertz didn't actually have the Full Size Sedan we had requested. Stuffed 4 peoples Luggage into the rear of a Jeep Compass, can't see out the rear window at all, it is now 12:15, I've paid for all of Yesterday because Priceline reserved the car which we didn't get for the day we arrived so I'm out $140.00. (Reminder to self, never use PriceLine) Arrived at the Inn at 1:00AM. I am a Choice Privileges member so have late check out which was good as we are from Tennessee so it's 2 hours earlier in Atlantic time. I'm Wandering around checking out the breakfast menu at the very nice Inn restaurant when a staff lady, Tammy, approached me and asks if I need assistance. I'm waiting on the other 3 in my party and still mumbling about Delta and Hertz and Priceline and she suggests a walk around the building, look at the lake, and enjoy a nice cup of coffee which she brought me in a takeout cup. Things started looking up, by the time I returned to the inside my folks were at a nice table and Tammy was taking their orders. It was all very pleasant and when I finished I head to the room to shower. My wife used her MasterCard to pay for our meal and it was rejected. I had Called MC the week before and told them were were going to be in Nova Scotia. I was assured by Rahsheca that my telling them I was going on Vacation to NS was not necessary. As the first thing we discovered as we came down in NS was that our Cells did not have an out of States Plan, I went to the front desk, they called the 800 number for MC (Keep in mind my bill at Hertz and the Room deposit at Inn on the Lake, were now in Limbo) The person at MC assured me my card was cancelled. I explained that MC was the one and only card I had brought with me in cast my wallet was stolen, the Young lady assured me they were sending new cards. I said "You are not Listening, I am in Nova Scotia", she said, "I don't know where that is, but I will transfer you to our security department" She did Xfer me, I repeated everything they agreed to reactivate my card through my return to Tennessee date. Through all of this, the only highlight was our overnight at the Inn on the Lake. Everyone was nice, the room was quiet and well appointed, Tammy was a lifesaver. Would stay again in a minute.
"Where to stay"
08/21/14 Dawn R Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Canada
We just love it here. The rooms are clean and neat. The food and staff are amazing. We only had one concern and that was that they said they were wheel chair accessible but it meant using an exit door which you had to get someone to come and open and when you wanted to go to the restaurant you had to go outside and all around the inn to get to the front door. Really wish there was a way to make this better. We would definitely stay here again.
"Romance so Close to City"
08/19/14 DFWMCNALLY Dartmouth, Canada
Just outside of Dartmouth is this romantic property. Every room has a hot tub and most have a fireplace and balcony. The restaurant features upscale dining and please, try the mussels! Theres only two floors so an elevator is not needed. They don't have many rooms so it feels private and walks along the lake are very romantic. My wife and I go here a couple of times a year just to pamper ourselves...try it!
"Better than average"
08/18/14 deedub47 Caledonia, Canada
Stayed here a few times over the years and it's been consistently good. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms are good, well appointed and you can usually get a good night's sleep. This is not the standard box hotel, even if the details are pretty much the same as every other hotel. Evening meal in the bar andr the restaurant is from the same menu and well worth eating in rather than looking elsewhere. A very good salmon dish and equally good haddock with well cooked and plentiful vegetables plus coffees and a sorbet desert came in at just under $50 inc taxes (not inc tips). Details that could be improved on: miserly two coffee sachets in the room, coffee mate dust instead of milk, noisy room fridge, noisy air con from kitchens (see room tips), breakfast disappointing after excellent evening meal.. Stay again? Certainly, better than the average near-the-airport hotel. Just scrapes into the 4-star list thanks to excellent food good service and comfy beds.

The website of this hotel looks really nice so as we were looking for a place to go for special occasions and we had to drop friends at the Halifax airport we decided to kill two birds with one stone and try this hotel. We spent one night at this hotel midweek. Check-in was fine but there is no elevator so had to carry our luggage up two flights of stairs. As we were treating ourselves we had booked a king room with a double whirlpool tub. The room was a bit tired and there was an old fashioned tv not a flat screen tv. The fireplace was a nice touch but as it was summer we did not use it so do not know if it worked. The whirlpool was a bit of a disappointment as although it was a double tub it only had 4 jets in it. When I washed my hands in the bathroom the cap came off the hot water tap. There are nice grounds and lounge chairs by the lake but the tennis courts looked a bit run down and did not have nets on them. We had a few drinks in the bar and the service was good. We then moved onto the dining room for a meal. I had to take my friends to the airport so knowing that the restaurant closed at ten we booked a table for nine o'clock. The food was nice and the service was good. We had ordered a bottle of cava with our meal. Around 10 we ordered a second bottle only to be told that they did not have any more of that in the bar. We were told there might be some downstairs but that the owners locked it up and did not allow the staff to have a key (not good for customers and why do they have staff they don't trust). We ordered a different bottle of wine and paid the bill expecting to take the bottle of wine to the bar. We were shocked when the waitress told us that the bar also closed at 10pm. She allowed us to stay at the table until around 11 when she then told us that the owners has called to see if everything was closed so we would have to move to our room. There is no area for guests of the hotel to sit if the bar and restaurant are closed. The waitress also told us they had a no glass policy in the hotel??? in other words she would have to take our glasses and bottle of wine and escort us to our room. I felt like a naughty child being sent to my room for daring to want to stay up past 11:00 pm. We finished our bottle of wine in our room and as there was nothing else to do we went to bed. We were woken early the next morning 7:30-8:00 by lots of voices and laughter. We originally thought there were people in the hall but we soon figured out that the noise was coming from the bar and restaurant below. There appeared to be no soundproofing at all and it was like these people were in the room with us. Although we had arranged a late check out we were up dressed and out of the hotel by 11:00 am. I will never us this hotel again. They shut the hotel at 10:00 pm and there are no other choices in the area as they are in the middle of nowhere. The owners do not put the customer first they just want to save money by not having to pay staff beyond 10:00 pm.

Had nice stay - 2 nights. Convenient to Halifax, Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, etc. Staff very friendly & helpful. Nice room. Beautiful lake area, unfortunately couldn't enjoy due to bad weather. Area lacks restaurants.
"Lovely, convenient Lodgings"
07/12/14 jennetj Chicago, IL
A flight that landed at 11:30 at night was a motivator in booking a hotel closer to the airport than to downtown Halifax. It was a smart decision, as it made a good jumping-off point for our day-trips. The staff was friendly, our room was large, clean and well-appointed with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Although there is no elevator, the second floor rooms are only half a flight up from the lobby. The property is on a lake with a private beach, although there's more pebbles than sand. We had dinner one night in the restaurant, sitting on the covered patio, and it was gorgeous, with good food. The only minor downside was that the pool was too cold to swim in comfortably, even on a hot day.
"Most excellent evening."

Four of us sat down on the deck Friday evening 11th. July, for a most excellent and enjoyable evening meal. The quality of food and the service was superb and a great night was had by all. I can highly recommend this eatery, and we will return on our next visit to wonderful Nova Scotia. Well done Inn on the Lake.
"Money over Customers?"

On 7/3 UNITED cancelled our flight due to severe weather conditions so we couldn't come and use our one-night reservation with this hotel. While the flight being delayed and later cancelled I was keeping the hotel front desk in the loop - by calling them on each update. So the hotel was aware we wouldn't be able to come and stay, and it was simply no way to make to Halifax that day after the only direct flight got cancelled. However the final cancellation notice came from UNITED 1 hour 40 minutes after 4 pm Halifax local time (per the hotel policies at 4 pm a reservation becomes non-refundable). Both ORBITZ and myself felt that there was no fault from my side though, and asked for reimbursement. ORBITZ representative spoke to the hotel twice 7/3 and 7/4, but the supervisor (Susan N.) refused to refund the amount I had paid ($152). I was also told by the front desk it was the owner's decision.
"Food was excellent!!"

Did not stay at the Inn although it looked like a very nice place to stay. We celebrated our Grand Daughter's Graduation with a nice supper and I was pleasantly surprised at the awesomeness of the service and quality of the food at their restaurant. There was eleven of us so we had a variety of meals ranging between fish, steaks, pasta and more. None of us had anything but praise for the quality and taste of their food. The deserts were delicious and tasted home made. The service was great.. We had our own private area where we stayed for over 2 hours enjoying a few laughs with family and friends. Will definitely eat there again and also recommend it to my friends. If there is one negative thing to say it would be that we got there an hour early and they would not accommodate us even if it did not seem all that busy at the time.
