Basic room on a beautiful property on the beach. The rooms need some updating. The restaurant food was good, the ambiance was AMAZING! The restaurant had a west coast modern look and feel... just gorgeous. Reception staff provided average service. There were however, fresh baked warm cookies available in the afternoons for all guests. Hotel in a good location. Right on the Mackenzie beach. Nice hot tub room
"Met all expectations"

I have stayed at this hotel once a year. Each time i come i am always amazed with the rooms as well as the service. The location is great. We have stayed above the hot tub room each time (requested) the first year we went the hot tub and gym area were getting re done but was still accessible and when we returned the next year the improvements were not disappointing. Just minutes away from the inner town of Tofino. Never did get to try the restaurant but im sure it would be great. I will always chose and recommend this hotel to everybody. The rooms looked brand new the beds were comfortable and the view is fantastic.

I stayed at the Tin Wis for three nights for a friend's wedding. I stayed in Room 201, which was close to the stairs and very handy to the outdoor shower, where you could wash your feet off after walking on the beach. The room was very comfortable and spacious - lots of pillows on the bed, nice linens, very clean. The bathroom was a little wee, but for just one of me, it was fine. Plus, it had a bathroom fan, which is always a good feature ;) There was a little kitchenette with fridge, microwave & coffee maker; very handy. The in-room coffee was really, really awful but I hear the free coffee in the lobby was much better. I'd read other reviews saying that the wifi was terrible; I used it for basic stuff like checking email and Facebook and didn't find it problematic at all. I found cell service in general to be crazy bad all over Tofino. I had dinner and a couple of breakfasts at the bistro - the food at all meals was quite good. I was alone for one dinner and Joe the server took great care of me. Breakfast service was very slow but friendly and hey, you're on vacation, so calm down. The beach was amazing - I spent several hours just wandering around, creeping on other people's cute dogs. At night, you can see SO many stars, it was gorgeous. And of course, each sunset was incredible. The wedding itself was really lovely; there weren't enough chairs for all the guests at the ceremony but other than that, it went off beautifully. Great passed hors d'oeuvres and the buffet dinner was really excellent and fresh. Just a note to travellers without cars; I took the Tofino Bus from Nanaimo (which was AWESOME) but once I got to town, getting to the hotel was tricky. There's only one cab in Tofino and as I mentioned before, I couldn't get any cell service, so I couldn't call. There's the Tofino shuttle which stops at a few points around town, so I ended up taking that; but it lets you off about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Not a big deal if you don't have any luggage, but I did, so it was a bit of a slog. Plan your transportation beforehand is all I'm saying. Overall I really enjoyed my stay - like all Tofino hotels, this one is extremely pricey but with the wedding rate, it wasn't so bad. Would I stay there again if I had to pay the full high season price? Probably not - but if you can get a deal, it's a lovely spot with friendly staff.
"Tin Wis is very good"

This hotel is right on Mckenzie Beach. An excellent atmosphere and great view out the window. Internet service is slow. Breakfast was okay, but not memorable. Staff were polite and helpful. The rooms were easily accessible. The laundry service was barely adequate as only one washer worked. The general appearance of the hotel was appealing although you could tell that the place could use some upkeep.

Great location, all rooms had great views. We could enjoy the sunset from our room and from the beach. The beach is very close to the hotel. Rooms were big and clean. Service at breakfast was slow and the internet was terrible. But we recommend it and would return to the the hotel.
"Beautiful location, a few small concerns."

The hotel is in a beautiful location. We stayed two days on business, and my only concerns were the Wifi and the restaurant. The Wifi was basically unusable due to dropped connections and slow speed and the one time I went to the restaurant for lunch, they said they weren't opening that day due to lack of staff (with 6 staff milling around the area) and 30 minutes later I see them serving food to customers. The rooms are clean, and the view toward the ocean is amazing. But at over $250 per night for our stay, I will probably find somewhere else to stay next time.
"Lovely hotel on great beach"

We stayed 3 nites at this first nations owned hotel. Our third floor 2 Q room was spacious, quiet, and with a fantastic view of the fantastic beach-mckenzie beach in rear of the hotel. Room had wi fi and mini fridge and comfortable beds. The hotel beaches is the nicest of all of the surrounding beaches, including all of the park beaches for which a 24 hr permits needed, tho Schooner Cove andTonkin Park beaches are a nice walk and should be viewed. Eat at Big Daddy'sFried Fish Stand on Main St and Tacofino, the food truck in the Wildside strip mall. Most of the downtown restaurants are grossly overpriced.
"Love it here!"

This is our 3rd time staying at the Tin Wis for our annual trip to Tofino and we love it. Every room faces the ocean, great beach and facilities and the staff are always very welcoming and friendly. We always have a room with a kitchenette (not sure if all rooms have this) but it is equipped with everything we need. Nice spacious, clean rooms with a fire place and love that the hot tub area has been redone in the past couple years. Looks great! About a 20-25 minute walk into town but very short drive to the town center as well as other beaches. Great place to bring a family and we love that we can redeem air miles for our stay since it is a Best Western. Would defiantly recommend this place and we will be back!
"Unbeatable beachside location at great value"

The new manager is committed to making this the best hotel in Tofino. I know he's got stiff competition and a bit of work to do, but it is stunningly located, very comfortable and offers great value. With a few more finishing touches, it will be well on the way.
"Really disappointed with customer service"

I will start off by saying that this issue is totally my fault...but I think the hotel could have helped out a bit. I reserved a room last month (July 24th) and got ill so I totally forgot about it and my credit card was charged $273.21. I called and asked if they could do anything at all to help out and the hotel said that they were totally booked that night so they could not help me out. I then called the main Best Western number and they credited me 1000 points on our reward card...something to pacify me i guess. Just disappointed because this has really left a bad taste in my mouth about Best Western in general. We have used them for years and probably will not seek them out in future.
