We've stayed lots of times at Novotel City West (2 adults) and everytime we thought it was very good: clean rooms, nice location, close to tram, etc... but this time we needed a 4 room people because our two kids were with us. The kids had a sofa bed, which is OK since they are 9 and 11 years old. The problem is that the sofa bed was either broken or […] poorly assembled and a huge hole was just below our kids backs. We noticed this problem only at night, of course, and I talked to front desk early next morning asking them to have it fixed or changed. Breakfasts and late evening snacks we had were great... great service. Only downside was that there was no parking available in the hotel lot one night - although it was New Year's eve - and staff weren't able to offer other options.

Great place to stay with indoor pool, fitness room, and restaurant/bar. They even have three iMacs in an area next to the lobby. The only problem was with the iMacs running Windows as their OS. I couldn't even run a windows dvd from it.

Had a nice 3 night stay at this hotel, Room was clean and staff was very friendly (even lent me a electric converter since mine didn't fit). Location is pretty good, in the west just near a tram station and 5 minute walk from a train station that has trains to the airport. It's priced very reasonably but it's far from downtown or from main station! For first timers to Europe - might be tough to change trams and bus to reach hotel and might end up spending 30-40 Euros for cab. But everything else about the hotel is good.

Great hotel within 100 ft of a tram stop. The tram takes you to downtown Zurich in 10 minutes, and the price (and room) is much better than a hotel in, say, the Old Town. Suggest you stay here and tram it into town.

This just didn't match the ratings we saw on Expedia. We left two days early, despite having prepaid. Some of the staff were inexperienced and extremely rude. They made mistakes on our bill, ascribed two dinners from another room to our bill, and were reticent to correct it even when it was clear someone else's name and signature were on the receipts. […] The concierge had little knowledge of the area or Zurich downtown. The room is minimal, and when we arrived there was no shampoo, bath gel, shower cap etc in the bathroom. We had to ask for everything, and it took a long time. It's a very chauvinistic hotel. The hotel was out of the city center, easily accessible by tram, and in a quiet location. The breakfast was included and provided many options. Wifi was also included but difficult to set up without a European mobile phone to access the code. There were complimentary computers available in the lobby area for internet access with printing available at […] times (printer didn't always work). The hotel rooms provided a minibar which could store a few personal items, a coffee/tea maker, and a hair dryer. The fitness room was adequate but only had 4 cardio machines and weights. A pulley weight machine was out of order. The indoor pool was small but never occupied. The restaurant, front desk, and bar area staff were much more accommodating to male business travelers and often overlooked females or provided the bare minimum of service. The Air Conditioning was not working and it was 30C outside!! A very nice guy from reception told us the system was still in the winter mode and we should open the window (just to be clear we were staing in the end of April and once again it was +30C outside). The room was okay, except the sheets were not new, found some hairs on the pillow and on the […] sheets. The hotel is 30 walking minutes away from the center, 5 min away from the train station, and right in front of the tram station. Nothing fun to do in the neighborhood. Stayed 4 nights in Aug 2011 with two small children. Everything looks new, and the room very clean Sat/Sun stay was cheaper and even got the breakfast buffet included in the price. It was very nice breakfast with both hot and cold selections. The hotel shares a courtyard with another hotel extended from the outside eating area, and has small playground […] for kids. It's nice when the weather is good, it has a small but clean and nice indoor pool. The locaiton is 5 min walk from the station (Hardbucke) which connects directly to the airport (two stops away with S16) and one stop to the Zurich central station. There is a big supermarket (COOP) next to the station for grocery and quick food. The distance to central Zurich didn't bother, only a few min ride of train and if you buy one day pass for less than CHF 10 at the front desk or train station, you can take trains, trams, tour boat in the lake valid for 24 hrs. The only thing not happy about the hotel was when we called for a fix of the clogged sink, no one came for that night, called again next morning, but again no one came until we spoke to the housekeeper lady on the floor. Novotel is less than a couple miles from the city center but it is locted in a hip, trendy neighborhood with lots of great restaurants and nightclubs just steps away. The hotel could be found easily although was a little bit out from the city. It took about half an hour by foot to get into the inner City. The room was really nice, comfortable and friendly. We could sleep well. The service was not so much satisfying as we asked for bathrobes (they sad this is a wellness hotel, but it was not served with the room […] by default), and although they promised it’ll be served soon, it was forgotten. The hotel is excellent insofar as accomodations, employees, etc. The main thing to keep track of is the cost of anything within Switzerland. It is very expensive for anything in Switzerland. We travelled for 10 days in Switzerland, staying at various 3 and 4 star hotels, and this hotel was the best that we stayed at.

This hotel was great- Very modern, clean, friendly staff and the breakfast buffet was amazing. Only downside was the heat would not turn off (other guests also complained about this but nothing was fixed during our stay) so we had some very hot nights trying to sleep. We will definitely stay at a Novotel in the future.

An ok hotel, not cheap but good enough quality. Biggest issue was the fact that they have weird plug sockets in the room which only take a 3 pin which has an unusual shape. I have every adapter going but not one that worked here. There was no adapters available at the hotel as they had all been given out, I guess because everyone else had the same problem. […] I paid £154 per night and would have welcomed a higher quality service. ALTHOUGH THE HOTEL IS NOT CENTRALLY LOCATED IT IS CLOSE TO THE TRAMLINE WHICH TAKES YOU INTO THE CITY WITHOUT PROBLEMS. THE HOTEL ROOMS ARE QUITE SPACIOUS, NOISE WAS NOT A PROBLEM TO US (ON THE FOURTH FLOOR) AND THE BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT WITH GOOD CHOICES. WE ALSO HAD A LIGHT MEAL IN THE RESTAURANT ONE EVENING WHICH WAS ALSO GOOD.
