I only stayed here one night, but this would be a great place to bring a family, and stay for several days. The 2-bedroom condo was clean and comfortable, loved the gas fireplace, comfortable bed, and the kitchen was handy. Access to the units is a little inconvenient -- lots of steps to go up and down, especially if you're on the back side. But the location is great, just outside Banff, and just a 3 minute drive to Canmore.

I called the hotel when I made the reservation and they informed me that the previous wifi problem had been solved. When I arrived, the in room wifi could connect but was so slow that it was unusable. The manager said that the wifi had been upgraded and worked well on his phone. But, the wfi access stopped from the room and was even slow in the lobby. One day the wifi did not work anywhere but I suspect they were upgrading the system. During the last 24 hours, the wifi was OK in the lobby but still unacceptable in the room. For two days we had to go to McDonalds in Banff to access the Internet. I trade stocks and there is daily maintenance of the account if one wants to succeed. But, the staff were so nice. I could tell that they were empathetic but the solution was out of their hands. The walls are thin. The parking lot was flooded.

"Perfect for a comfortable base in Banff"
So glad we upgraded to the junior suite - it was well worth it! Room was very spacious, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in. The gas fireplace was a nice touch. We just completed our first trip to Banff and enjoyed visiting the town. We stayed at the Delta Banff Royal Canadian Lodge. I didn't care that we were placed on the first floor when others checking in at the same time were given higher floor numbers. Also, each morning we ordered room service breakfast and had to request butter & jam for our wheat toast […] even though it's listed on the breakfast card as being included. However, overall we did enjoy our stay there for the price. The room was clean and I liked the push button fire place and the jacuzzi in the bathroom. Read more

The hotel & service was very nice. Parking & street access a bit tight, but understandable. Breakfast (a buffet type) was overpriced (particularly for light eaters), consequently we went elsewhere for all but one day. I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel has superior rooms at a very reasonable price for the location. The staff was extremely accomodating in every respect. The rooms were far better than we expected and what one might find in a luxury hotel class establishment. While we were not there at a time when the fireplace could be used, one could imagine how much fun that feature could […] be. The indoor parking was easy and safe at half the cost of city hotels. My friend and I had a wonderful time at the Delta Banff Lodge. The staff at the front desk and concierge stand were extremely helpful in providing us with maps and advice on what to do around Banff. Our first interaction with the hotel was bad and it all went downhill from there! While checking in my wife was hounded by the valet guy to move the car. She told him that she wanted to wait to have me do it as it was a rental and she did not feel comfortable. He then suggested that he move it for her, and again she did not feel comfortable. He came […] back to bug her about it 3 times, while the whole time another customer's car was parked in front of ours with nobody in it. Finally when we were heading to our room the valet guy passed us and gave my wife a disgusted look. I had a heated conversation with the guy in the lobby and he kept putting the blame on my wife. Nobody made any attempt to apologize for our experience or compensate us in any way. When going to bed that evening we had to endure the muffled sounds of a band playing for a wedding in the lobby or courtyard. This continued until around 1 AM! The next morning we took our daughter to the pool for a morning swim...this was enjoyable however when we went to our room our keys did not work. It took the maintenance people 30 minutes to get to our room while we waited in the hall dripping wet. Again no manager or other employee saught to apologize for these issues or make up for them in any way. Would have been a decent stay if not for the service. Would not recommend this to anyone. The improvement that I would suggest would be an upgrade of the inroom TV.

WE had a wonderful stay. We were greeted by name all the time, and had a very nice room. On check-out my husband managed to leave his favorite pair of Levi's in the room. He didn't remember that he left them there until we returned home nearly a week later. He called the hotel just to see if by chance they found them, and sure enough they had logged […] them into their lost and found book. They then mailed them back to us free of charge. Hot and cold on the Banff Royal Canadian Lodge. The staff was helpful, room was clean and the food fair. But the biggest turn off was the temperature. In the lobby and the resturant it was really warm. The kind of warm that starts family tiffs. Unbearably hot! And the hot tub was not. The water was luke warm. I only have wonderful things to say about this hotel. Nice rooms, comfy beds, free paper in the morning, very clean, great service. It is at the end of the main street in Banff, but only a 5 minute walk to the beginning of the busier street areas. There are restaurants next door and we were able to park on the street for free around the corner.

The hotel was very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. My family of 4 (2 adults, kids 9 and 11) were staying there for a couple of days over a weekend. The hotel rooms were of sufficient size that we didn't feel trapped and the bathroom was perfect for our situation as there were 2 separate sinks (one with the shower and toilet and one adjacent […] but separated by a door). The hotel staff were great. They provided whatever information was needed and they set up a horseback riding session for us close by. The buffet breakfast was average to good with all of the expected items. I preferred to order off the menu for breakfast (note: it is not included). We didn't eat at the restaurant except for breakfast and there isn't a bar in the hotel but there is a bar at the hotel next door (the properties are close). We thought (from viewing the map) that we would be closer to town and we were within walking distance but it was a bit of a hike (and not ideal if you have tired kids after dinner). We ended up driving part way and then walking from there. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Banff. Read more
"The Hotel and staff look great at first glance."
We left the hotel immediately upon checking in. Everything had appeared to be OK....but that was far from reality. We arrived back at the room at approximately 1 Am and went to sleep. We were awoken about 1/2 an hour later by a loud banging noise from the air/heat unit. This bang would occur every time the unit would click on or off. The hotel rooms […] look great at first glance, but when you look deeper, you realize that the hotel must have been built years ago...and has a ventilation system with the old style in-room a/c / heating units just like the old-time howard johnsons. The delta was the second most expensive hotel in Bannf after the fairmont. I specifically stayed there because of everything I had read but encountered facilities and service that probably wouldnt have compared to the Quality inn down the street !!! The Manager at the hotel was downright rude and abbrasive. At approximately 7 AM, I went to the front desk and explained what was occurring with the a/c / heating unit. There was no manager available and the girl at the front desk was friendly but she didnt have a clue how to deal with the matter. I explained that the three of us had very little sleep because of this. She gave me 2 vouchers for breakfast and told me that it was for our "trouble". I explained to her that this was totally "inadequate" for what we had encountered she asked me to come back in a couple of hours and a new room would be available. I went back to the lobby at 9:30 (had to wait in line for numerous people to check out) and reached the same desk clerk who told me that no rooms were currently available. I obviously was upset and asked to see a manager and was told that there was no manager on duty. I pushed the issue and suddenly a manager appeared. he knew nothing of what I had been encountering. I explained everything that had occurred and also explained how upset I was that I was told a room would be available 2 1/2 hours before and now I was told that there was no room a Read more
"Big picture great, but its the little things...."
Overall, we were very happy with this hotel. Having driven across Canada, we had some terms of reference to compare. There was no regular coffee in the room, only decaf, which doesn't cut it first thing in the morning, and the bed hadn't been completely made up, the pillows and overlay were rolled up above the bureau. Positive: The hotel staff are extremely accomodating and the hotel is very clean and well maintained. We were upgraded for free to a room with a fireplace. "Forget the Bad Things You Have Heard"
I had read some reviews where people went out of their way to find something to complain about. We had a few problems with the internet and we were directed immediately to a tech person who solved the problem. The room was beautifully furnished and the bathroom was very large. Beds were very good and the location was excellent with good access to Banff […] restaurants and stores. We liked the clean windshield in the morning when we picked up the car from the valet. We were surprised that they charge for parking but the rate was reasonable. There is indoor (self or valet) parking under the hotel. And --- they even clean your car's windshield!

very impressed with services and cleanliness. Hotel charges $11.00 per night for use of its' car parking which is a bit mean. Otherwise highly recomended. Salads were delicious!

Loved the room, however, we thought it was expensive for the time spent as we didn't get a chance to use the amenities due to late arrival from road traffic/accident and early departure. Very helpful at the Front Desk. Also enjoyed vallat parking. However, the cost was not included in the price of the room. Because it is so close to down town, you might as well park on the Street. Service was really good. All areas are really clean and in good condition. The Restaurant Menu is a little short but quality and taste of the food is extraordinary. Only issue was the elevator which is extremely slow and it was broken during the weekend.

Great hotel with Excellent Staff. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I would stay in this hotel again in a heartbeat. The only complaint was with the Evergreen Restaurant. I ordered what my menu called a 16oz AAA T-Bone and received a 1/2" cut of beef which I wouldn't have bought at the local grocery store if it was on sale for 90% off. Absolutely […] the worst cut of beef I've ever received at a restaurant. To top it off I ordered the steak rare and received it well done (obviously it is difficult to cook that type of cut rare, but after sending the first one back the second was just as bad.) For the rest of our stay we avoided the Restaurant and had nothing but good experiences. The hotel has an excellent pool and hot tub area with a steam room. The spa services are excellent. Overall we had a great stay in the hotel and would recommend it to others. I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff were. We were taken care off in every aspect of our stay. Our 2 year old had a blast in the pool and we enjoyed the cozy atmosphere next to the fire place in our room. Read more
