Enjoyed our stay very much, would definitely stay here again. Only ten minuets to downtown S.F., can't beat the price and free parking!!! On checking in, the man behind the counter was going through the motions, not very friendly. When I asked if they had any rooms with a sofa bed, he replied Embassy Suites has rooms like that..... Our room smelled bad; not sure why, so we opened the window for fresh air. We needed to take a taxi everywhere unless we took the shuttle back to SFO to catch Bart. "Quality not consistent"
As soon as I arrived, I was bombarded with loud noise of various equipments in the entry way/reception area. Since there was no front desk in operation there, I looked around and found a small sign to proceed into the next room. The front desk personnel was handling another customer, and even after she had finished, he had started to speak to another […] staff though he had seen me waiting. He thought for some odd reason that I was with the lady who was just there before me. Convenient assumption. The construction noise was loud even in my room... I went back to the front desk for the phone was not working, and they informed me that the work for today will finish in half an hour or so. That was already 8pm. With that kind of renovation work, the customers should be notified in advance; it's not like a repair work of sort, they must have planned the work. After a long international flight and hoping to rest just overnight for another early flight in the morning, this was quite disturbing. Also, there should have been a sign outside the entrance door, notifying of the construction and the temporary front desk location. On top of that, the room was rather old and outdated. Clean enough, but not entirely comfortable. Later on in my trip, I stayed at Radisson at PDX, and I had a pleasant surprise that it was much better there than this location. The only issues that I had with my stay were the people who were being really loud into the night in the room next door and when I asked for an extra blanket and pillow I had to call an hour later for them because they had still not arrived. "Very disappointing experience"
Awful experience! I reserved and paid for a room in advance from expedia.com which listed king size with bay view cheapest rate available Arrived as late check in due to red eye flight, hotel staff notified a few days in advance and I was not told about the renovations occurring. Arrived at hotel around 2:30am to find the hotel in complete renovation...it […] was very creepy... tiles on floor being replaced with two workers, hotel room hallways on two floors completely gutted without carpet or wallpaper. I was given a room with two beds and no view. I went to exchange room for the king size with bay view and was given a king room with a view of brick wall. Wanted to stay somewhere else but no rooms available anywhere close so had to take what they gave me. Was told later that my room was given away earlier in the day and they didn't know why. Being exhausted from long late flight and felt like I was in "Bates Hotel". Was told in the morning that I would be comped for the room which I have yet to see. The evening we checked in, they were jackhammering the lobby floor. The checkin staff said it would be over in 15, but they worked the whole night. We had trouble finding parking if we returned late; they worked on the floor the entire 5 days we were there. Thank goodness they had finished our floor, but we saw many people staying on floors they were […] working on. The last full day we were there, we got back late and could not get into the room. Went down to get new keys and they told us we were supposed to have checked out that day. Our original stay was to leave the next day and they did find that in the system. The office staff did not ever apologize for the inconvenience of no parking, key problems, and why in the world they would have chosen the fourth of july weekend to do major renovations. "Clean rooms with some extra comfort features"
An entrance to 101 north is maybe 200 feet from the hotel. SFO is 10 minutes away, downtown SF is 10-15 minutes away. No access to public transportation, (bart, caltrain) but there may be shuttles. Rooms are exceptionally clean. They feature sleep number king sized beds which was an unexpected surprise. Room came with a microwave and a little kitchenette. "Could of been better..."
The location of the hotel was great, which was a reason I had picked it. It was right off the freeway and close to downtown San Francisco. The reason my satisfaction was low for my stay here was due to the construction at the hotel. When I arrived everything seemed great. I was greeted and checked in within 5 minuets. We were placed on the 8th floor. […] When we got off the elevator the ground was covered in plastic coverings and the walls were stripped. Loud noises of construction rang down the hall. When I looked down the hall it was filled with dusty air and debris from the workers scrapping the walls. I have allergies and having to walk through that floating in the air was a no no for me. We went back to the lobby and asked for another room, they were surprised that the girl who checked me in FAILED to tell me that they were renovating the 7th & 8th floors. Basically I ended up with a down-graded room on the 5th floor. The room was clean but clearly very out-dated. We had checked out just in time, because the day before they started renovating the 5th floor. I was very disappointed that no one let us know about the renovation/ construction. I'm sure the hotel will be wonderful when it is all done but for the time being call them to see if the construction is done before you book this hotel to be on the safe side. Hotel rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly. Didn't know they were redoing the lobby tile and wallpaper until we got there- it was noisy, but didn't effect our stay until we relaized they were also doing the wallpaper on the floor in which we stayed- so it was a little noisy and hard to get thru the hallway at times. The staff were quite friendly and helpful, although they seemed to be understaffed when we checked in. We had stopped by that morning to drop off our luggage (too early to check in) and spend the day in San Francisco. It was nice that we could store our luggage even before we checked in, but when we finally did check in around 8pm, we had to wait 20 […] min or so for someone to retrieve our luggage because the staff were busy checking in other people. The guy who finally came to help us did apologize sincerely, but it was irritating after a long day. The floor we stayed on was being renovated, so walls on every part of the hallway were down to the sheetrock with strips of old glue, so that wasn't what you would expect for the price. There were chocolates on the beds (one on each bed), which the kids were excited about, but when they unwrapped them, it was obvious that the chocolate was quite old, and it tasted stale. All that said, the room was well insulated and clean, and we didn't hear any noises to bother us in the night. The bathroom was a good size, and the shower worked well. There was a lot of room to spread out and use laptops, and the wi-fi worked well. But be prepared to bring your own food or buy it in their overpriced restaurant. We dropped over $40 on breakfast - one cup of coffee, one waffle, one stack of 3 pancakes, and two orders of scrambled eggs, toast & breakfast potatoes. Checkout was easy and quick. I went to run the SF Marathon and stayed at the Radisson by the airport. The rooms were very clean, staff were very helpful and kind. I appreciated the free shuttle to the airport where I was able to jump on to the bart into downtown. All the employees are very friendly and are willing to help. One little complain we had was that we wanted to get in to the jacuzzi, but the water's acid level was too high to get it.
