With about 40,000 students, the University of Washington is the area’s lifeblood. The campus includes a world-class medical center, the Burke Museum, and Henry Art Gallery. UW’s main square offers a clear view of Mount Rainier. West of UW, a Lenin statue watches over Fremont, which bills itself as “The Center of the Universe.” Fremont’s low-rise shops and cafés resemble Berkeley and Old New York.

The lobby personnel were very helpful for all of our needs. Great with getting directions for us to various places in Seattle. There were a few inconveniences. The handle to the microwave was broken and there was only one offering of caffeinated coffee per room. The complimentary breakfast was too crowded, as there wasn't enough room. Customers were rude. Still a good value.

Out first and last time to stay here. We were on the 1st floor and the walls and doors are paper thin; you hear everything; the people next door, people in the hall, the housekeepers talking. It is impossible to sleep. We asked for a room on the top floor after our miserable first night to at least eliminate the noise and walking from the people above us but they couldn't accommodate our request. Ear plugs helped the next two nights but until they add insulation and install better quality doors, don't waste your money staying here; you'll be sorry. We sure were.

out of value="5"We very much wish to apologize to these guests for the inconvenience they experienced at our property. Although our hotel was full during their stay, complaints regarding noise from adjacent rooms and hallways are very unusual at our hotel - particularly as we have recently completed major renovations to all of our guestrooms including the installation of new doors and locking mechanisms. Additionally, every effort was made to relocate these guests to a room on a higher floor, unfortunately again being full, we were just not able to do so. We strive to provide all guests with the high quality level of service and accommodation

We have always considered this our base when we are visiting either the UW hospital or Seattle Childrens. It is quiet, has free parking, and a wonderful breakfast in the morning. They have recently renovated the rooms, to include very large flat screen TV's which is a huge bonus. They also have free wireless internet. The staff is always agreeable and will go the extra mile to help in anyway they can to make your stay comfortable.

This location, next to University Center, was great for me. The room was very clean and quiet. Nice exercise room and continental breakfast. My only minor complaint would be the front desk staff - while they were efficient and polite, they were not very friendly when I checked in, and when I checked out, they were too busy talking to each other to really give satisfactory service. Overall, I was very happy with my stay. I would definitely stay there again and I would recommend it to friends and family.

I highly recommend this hotel. Though it is a bit pricey, our experience has demonstrated that the extra money was worth it. The room was perfect for our family of 4. We booked a 2 queen bed room which also included a fold out couch. This allowed us to put our kids in separate beds and it was less crowded than a typical hotel room with a cot squeezed in. Another great thing about our room was that it had a double set of bathroom sinks outside the toilet/bath area which allowed us to have both of the kids wash up at the same time. Another great thing about this hotel is that they have a good supply of fresh fruit available all day. So at breakfast we had fruit and then at the end of the day we came back and grabbed a fruit. It is so hard to keep healthy habits while away on vacation so I liked this! Another great thing about this location was that it is a great location - walking distance from a drug store, grocery store and lots of other stores and restaurants. It also is right next to a biking/running/walking path. Lastly, my kids enjoyed the pool.

The hotel boiler went out, so we were without hot showers for 2 days out of our 4 night stay. They offered to put us up in their sister hotel at the same rate. However, that hotel normally has a lower rate -- not quite fair. Not only that, we had not rented a car because the Silver Cloud was walking distance to everything we needed; the sister hotel was not. After a great deal of discussion, they compensated us $40 for our inconvenience, but that seemed too minimal.
Overall Rating
out of value="5"We are sincerely apologetic that our boiler was not functioning properly during these guest’s visit with us. This unfortunate event was clearly unexpected. Although we spared no expense in our effort to expedite repairs and brought in our management and engineering teams as well as plumbing technicians, we realize the serious inconvenience our guests experienced until reparations could be performed. It is never our intent to negatively impact our guest’s visits to Seattle and all were offered the choice to relocate to our newer sister property just four miles from our hotel in guestrooms with views of lake Union along with complimentary transportation provided. Should these guests happen to read this response, I would very much like to invite them back to our hotel on their next visit to Settle. Our General manager would like to personally attend to their arrangements and ensure they receive the quality accommodations and service all of our guests deserve and we at Silver Cloud Inns and Hotels pride ourselves on providing.
