Location.
Situated near popular D.C. attractions, this hotel sits 5 blocks from the United States Capitol, 6 blocks from the National Mall, and 3 miles from Arlington National Cemetery.

Hotel Features.
Designed by architect Morris Lapidus, whose work defined the Miami Beach-resort style, The Capitol Skyline Hotel has retained some retro features even after being extensively renovated. Guests have access to a seasonal outdoor pool and a poolside bar. A fitness center offers another recreation option. The Lapidus Restaurant serves American fare for breakfast and dinner. The lounge opens in the late afternoon and shows sporting events on a big-screen TV. Happy hour and Wednesday-night comedy shows are highlights of the lounge.

Guestrooms.
Guestrooms of approximately 300 square feet include bathrooms with granite vanities and tile floors. Rooms offer views of the pool or the Capitol. Complimentary amenities include wired and wireless Internet access. Guests can watch HBO and pay movies on a 32-inch flat-screen TV.

The hotel staff at the desk were very helpful, friendly and accommodating. While the room was very nice I found the hallways to be dingy and very basic.... I felt like I was in a dorm hall. The breakfast buffet had a nice variety of food and clean.It was great and worth the very reasonable price. Although the neighborhood around the hotel didn't have much to offer, the attractions were a car or cab ride away of a few minutes. Also, the paid garage parking was very good. We were allowed to keep our car there until 4pm even though we checked out at 10am,therefore were able to go on our trolley tour without worrying about another parking fee. by Andrea H. from Freehold,NJ on 06/10/13

I arrived early morning but was checked into a room with no problem. There were minor issues with the room but these were addressed with the Front Office Manager. The rooms do not have a coffee maker which is an annoyance. The café does have coffee to go but at $1.50 a cup. Pool is very nice. Staff was super nice and friendly.

It cost $30 per vehicle to park at the hotel. Never mention that when buying the room. Not to mention the "fees" added to the room price. I paid for a $99 a night room for 2 nights... added fees was $49. Also, anything you pay for in the District of Columbia has an 18% tax added to it. Thus, the room, parking, AND added fees had that tax added to it. […] It's closer to everything... but MUCH more expensive to stay in the city. Read more

over all happy with this hotel.old and worn-out but good beds. great low price. We paid just around $80 a night for 4 nights and we paid average of $10 for taxes to go to sights. Mainly we just used the hotel to sleep at night and did not care for other stuff to be perfect.Very helpful staff.

I found the bed to be very comfortable and the pillows as well. The view was great! The only thing I did not care for was the smell upon entering the hotel and even my room spelled like urine. There was a package of chips on the floor behind the nightstand left from a previous guest.

The hotel was beautiful and in a great location close to all must-see sights. It was a 10-15 minute walk to the capitol building, and from there, you can get to all of the other attractions such as the washington monument, lincoln memorial, and all of the museums. The hotel was very clean and very quiet, perfect for our romantic getaway.

I was in disbelief that I had to pay $25 a night for parking at the hotel especially after the rates I paid for the room. I also had to pay $15 for a small frig if I wanted one in the room.

this hotel really struggles it seems about offering a restaurant and the necessary services one expects if there is a restaurant. At a business trip here in February, our entire business group returned to the hotel after a very long day in meetings to find the entire restaurant just suddenly closed for the night. The following it was opened (and full) […] but there were only a couple of staff to serve everyone in the entire restaurant. There are never more than a few choices of what is available on a menue-it is ridiculous. One of the most reasonable things about this hotel, which is not in a very good location to go elsewhere was the fact that there was a choice of an inexpensive continental breakfast (paid but reasonable) and a full breakfast buffet. Our party chose the hotel again for this reason and found THIS time, there is no choice, nor any menu available. If you want just muffin, you must pay the $10 buffet price regardless. there are no options nor any predictability about what they will offer on any given day nor does their website reflect any of this information. The staff of this hotel is very nice and tries hard at accommodating, but this is like a hotel/restaurant that can't quite decide what it wants to be, doesn't want to invest money in being, and yet presents itself as a full service hotel. My wife and child enjoyed staying here. It wasn't a 5-star hotel but it kept my family warm and comfortable. The "Drop Off" only shuttle bus service was very convenient. And I jogged to the Capital within 7 minutes. McDonalds and 7 Eleven is nearby. Remember it's D.C. Watch out for thieves snatching your cell phones or handbags in the subway.

We were disappointed that only 2 breakfasts were included in the "bed and breakfast" on-line special. We were a party of 3 and that detail was not in the on-line description. It was fine except mattress was bad and because hotel was full, they were unable to move us. They did turn mattress which made it a little better but it needs to be replaced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
