"Lovely place to stay"
Arrived at 330pm after a hectic day of site seeing with two young children, only to be told our room was not ready! Waited a further half an hour in the bar until our room was ready. Room was very clean and modern. The only thing I could fault with the room was the shower, it was rubbish! No water pressure and the shower head could not be righted to make it 'stand up' Overall, Hotel is central to restaurants etc.. clean and staff were pleasant.

"Super friendly staff."
We checked in for a 2night stay with the kids. We were welcomed into the valet parking by a friendly, accommodating staff member named Ethan. Upon checking in we discovered our room wasn't what we expected, a quick visit back to reception and another room with a lounge was allocated to us. Unfortunately, our TV wasn't working so a quick call to reception and a staff member came back to have a look...Ethan, again! Friendly and apologetic with a free movie offered as recovery after the TV was fixed. We had a bottle of wine given to us as we were celebrating a birthday. A great nights sleep in comfy beds and over to the beautiful surroundings of autumn maples at the buffet breakfast. Who serves us?...Ethan. The kids loved him and we were so grateful for his enthusiasm, kindness and consistent service. On our second night our youngest child had left his newly purchased Lego in the car. To keep the peace my wife headed down to the carpark to retrieve it, unfortunately the car was parked offsite as the hotel was full. The staff member offered to collect it for us and deliver it to our room!! That's service which meant we didn't have an 8year old whinging until dawn! The hotel is in a great location with spacious rooms. The staff are well trained and deliver an efficient, friendly, hospitable, welcoming service. The way it should be.

"Convenient hotel in Canberra city center"
We stayed in Novotel for two nights. Checking in and out was very quick and the front desk staff very friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable, not sure I liked the sink in the room though. Bedding was comfortable and new. The room could have been a bit bigger as there was very little space to maneuver between two double beds. Buffet breakfast was excellent and it finished at 11am on the weekends. Pancake machine was a hit with our little boy. I would highly recommend Novotel Canberra and would definitely stay there again.

Clean facilities, nice size rooms, friendly staff. Parking is expensive. Room was not ready for a family of 4 and needed to request this be fixed which was disappointing for a hotel of this caliber. Breakfast buffet was great and bar a great spot for dinner. Central location to be able to explore the area. Overall a goid experience.

"Walk to the city"
This is our second time and the room was bigger than our last which was great for the kids. Liked the housekeeping staff how they put the finishing touches on my kids toys, placed cutely on bed with blankie on :) yes there is a $20 for parking but you can walk to the city to many restaurants or shopping that's why we choose Novotel. Can't beat price and location.

"understaffed and inefficient"
A convenient place to stay but I found the service to be a lower standard than I expected. The staff on the desk appeared stressed and were barely able to cope with the volume of people arriving in peak times. Their uniforms needed smartening up too . The room we stayed in was poorly set out and had definite safety issues. I would not stay here again and would be reluctant to recommend it to my friends.

"Great service, but noisy room"
The staff working at the Novotel were always friendly and seeking to help with any concerns. For instance our car was parked with the Hotel and on the day we left the car would not start. At this stage, not knowing what caused the flat battery, they arranged to have the car jumped started for us and provided the family with complimentary drinks in the restaurant while we were waiting. Plus they wiped any parking fees from our bill. This was great service. However the room was not up to the standard expected. We were placed in a room next to the Gymnasium. Our room shared a common wall with the Gym. This was not good when we wanted to 'sleep in'. The early rises wanting to keep fit, woke us up at 7am, when we heard and felt the first drop of a dumbbell. This noise and impacts continued on for about an hour. The common wall did not appear to have any additional dampening to reduce noise or impacts. Considering our room was sharing a common wall with the gym i would have expected this to be essential. When the staff were notified they agreed to inform building maintenance. If we decide to return to this hotel we will be ensuring our room is not located near the gym.

"Great Location!"
Our stay at the Novotel was overall alright. We had a triple bedroom with a king bed and a sofa bed. The quality of the mattress and pillows was not good. The pillows were too soft with no option of getting other types of pillows. The springs in the sofa bed were quite uncomfortable and jutted out. The hot water in the shower stopped working one night [I did not find out about it until I was in the shower and had to have a cold shower. When asked about it, they just apologised and said to wait until next day for a hot shower.] Breakfast was included in our stay and there was a good selection of food. [However, the menu did not change for the three days we stayed] The coffee machine was out of order for our entire stay, and we had to do with some coffee pods which tasted like dishwater. The location of the hotel was perfect for our stay, as it is very close to the Canberra Centre, and we enjoyed the car-parking option at the hotel. Data speed of Wifi was good and worked well.

"Disappointed"
We were expecting something more from a Novotel hotel but it was quite disappointing came down to the restaurant and wait more than 30 minutes in a queue to be seated two days in a row! Also when a fire alarm were activated and we managed to evacuated the building no one give us an explanation not even instructions!

"Nice hotel"
Great location in Canberra and nice hotel. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed our stay. The only thing that annoyed me was that the car park was very awkward and difficult to park cars due to the very small parking spaces. Next time I'll park on the street. To make matters worse I was charged $25 for car parking but was not advised this until check out.

"Close to centre of everything"
Room service was prompt. The wooden structures... beside desk pantry area was chipped and old looking. The toilet and shower was nice and modern And clean. The bed was soft and comfortable. The buffet breakfast had a great selection but the coffee was terrible. Over all id recommend this hotel as my previous stay had been devine. This time I felt I had been given an older room.

We have stayed here before & weren't disappointed. I made a bad booking mistake previously & Paul went out of his way to help, no fuss. "Worst room i have ever stayed in."
The room was very very disappointing, as it stated a double room, so I assumed we would have had two rooms, as it had to sleep my husband, myself and our two children, but this was not the case. Two beds were crambed into the room which was very very small. I would hate to think how 4 adults would have fitted in this shoe box. The children even mention how small it was. One of the beds was practically hard on one of the walls, had to climb over to get the the bathroom. There was no room for hanging - only could a suit bag, the beds were horrible, the pillows even worse, hard lumpy and old. I had the worst two sleeps of my entire life in this hotel. It was a first visit to the nations Capital and having this room made it very disappointing. I did not want to stay in the room, but it was not refundable, nor could they move us when we discovered the patio door was not working. We even offered to pay an upgrade to move, but not possible. The staff were pleasant and the room was clean just not good for a family nor two couples wanting to share to cut costs.......would never ever stay at this motel ever again nor would I think I would stay at its chain due to the disappoint experience had and I would definitely not recommend it as a place to stay.

"Excellent location very central to everything."
Excellent location for restaurants, pubs, tourist attractions and nightlife. Upgrade to an apartment and full breakfast was a pleasant surprise! Apartment was very clean,spacious and well appointed.Wished we had the time to stay longer. A big thank you to the staff and valet parking.Nothing was a problem and they were very friendly and courteous. We had a great weekend and the Novotel made that possible. "Great location"
Location great for walking to dining venues. Easy to get around to major tourist attractions if you have your own car. BUT very surprised that if you do have your own car you are charged $20.00 per day to park at hotel on top of your room cost and no free wifi - even the local coffee shops have free wifi.

Perfect location for the Multi Cultural festival. Room dated and basic as it was a twin bed room but it was clean and comfortable with a newer bathroom. Weird there was no fan in a renovated bathroom but it was perfectly fine

"Poor choice for Canberra CBD stays"
Reception and concierge staff do not answer calls from room as too busy at desk. Safe batteries can't be changed on weekends due to no maintenance staff working. Food in house is very poor. Showers have pressure problems and the pipes shudder when turned up even a little bit.

"Convenient"
Nice & central to main central shopping area, walk to shops & restaurants. Parking was a little bit of a hassle, as out the front their was only Pick up & drop off point, which I didn't think I could park in at the time to check in, so parked around the block then came back to reception to check in. I was also meant to receive a bottle of wine on arrival however this was not forthcoming, although I don't drink so wasn't concerned. Room was plenty spacious enough. Staff in breakfast area were pleasant & friendly. I would stay here again due to location.

"No scope for exaggeration!"
To start with, I had no idea that I would find such a good hotel at such a reasonable price. I went there with my wife and son and the hotel rate included buffet breakfast for all three of us. The food were really good and they have a cafe style coffee machine from which I could make cappuccino for myself and latte for my wife. All the staff were friendly and informative. The hotel is right at the centre of the city and just a couple of minutes walk from the shopping centre. Unfortunately due to time constraint, I did not get to explore more of the hotel or Canberra but next time I go there, I will not have to do my shopping for hotel anymore.

"Parking nightmare!"
The hotel expected customers to pay an additional $20 on top of the room fees for parking. The parking lot was too small to accommodate the guests and the hotel staff insisted on taking customer's car keys. If the customer has driven from another state they have no choice but to pay the fee as the hotel is located in the CBD and there is no where else to park.
