My stay was excellent. Staff were courteous, helpful and efficient. Shuttle service from the airport was fast; it came soon after calling the hotel. Wireless internet was fast. The included breakfast was warm, filling and had a nice variety. It was a good 25 minute walk from the hotel to the convention center, but even in November, the weather was nice.

This hotel is just a few blocks from the water and right next to the Little Italy section of town (a great neighborhood with good restaurants). Also a short walking distance to the trolley, buses, Amtrak, and the Coaster line. The front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. There's also a public computer with a printer - very convenient. I also appreciated the free airport shuttle. The room I stayed in had modern decor and updated bathroom fixtures. I'd definitely stay here again.

We called front and they said should be connect but finally didn't work. it connected at front lobby only.

I stayed one night at this hotel after a cruise, and was very pleased. Since we only had carry-on luggage, we just walked the few blocks from the cruiseship terminal to the hotel. The staff were very friendly, the room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The location was great for walking to dinner in Little Italy. It's far enough from the train tracks that we never heard the trains (our room faced the opposite direction). The room had a microwave oven and mini-fridge, coffee pot, iron, hairdryer, free wi-fi, free airport shuttle, and free Continental breakfast (with scrambled eggs). We were even able to print our boarding passes on their computer and printer. The pool and hot tub looked nice, although we didn't use them. I would definitely stay here again.

Throughout the night a very loud pipe noise was present within the walls of the bathroom. We were on the second floor room 207. We were constantly awakened by very loud pounding which sounded like water pipes. I complained to the front desk and they said they would make a note of the complaint. They did not even try to compensate us for our misarable night. We will never stay there again!

This hotel is nice for the price and a great location.. I'm a repeat customer.. But this visit was not as good as the last.. Our room wasn't ready at check-in time and the front desk staff didn't really see that as a problem. They also didn't have the right room-type I had booked available, (one bed instead of two), which also wasn't seen as a problem

The hotel staff I found to be very nice and cordial. Enrique was very helpful. He helped find a phone charger, as I left mine at home. He compensated me for a wrong drink from the soda machine. He called me by name each morning or evening. That level of customer service was not expected. My hotel room lacked coffee cups, water cups, and coffee, though. And the water valve in the bathroom was not working correctly, but functional.

All in all, not an awful place to stay. The only real problem I had was when the staff locked my husband and I out of our room. I have a service dog that the hotel was notified of in advance but decided it was unauthorized and deactivated my room keys. Hard enough dealing with the seizures but being embarassed in front of a lobby full of people was really uncalled for. Room service was decent but very slow and the room could have been much cleaner but the bed was comfortable and the hotel was fairly quiet.

We really enjoyed the hotel, the spacious bathroom, and the extremely comfortable bed. Parking was also VERY cheap compared to other Downtown Hotels (just $10!). The front desk was not haughty or rude, they were your average friendly people. However, we did not like that room service was only available from 4pm to 11pm. We were hungry at check in (3pm) but we weren't able to order in to our room. We did enjoy the short walk to Little Italy to get lunch, though. Also, the lobby was really small. If you're on a budget and can't stay right in Gaslamp, this hotel is perfectly fine, and very comfortable! It's a cheap cab ride to Gaslamp, or a 10-15 minute walk to the Gaslamp District. This hotel was overall very nice.

This is a very nice place to stay. We received an early check in, a beautiful view room of the bay and a freindly person at the front desk. The bus stop for the airport, the trolley stop and the Amtrak station are about four blocks away. This is an easy safe walk. If you don't mind a little outside train noise and a little A/C noise inside at night, this hotel is a excellent place to stay.

This hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service from/to the San Diego airport! Many downtown hotels don't offer this although they are fairly close to the airport. The room I stayed was very clean, quiet, and comfortable. (I'd stayed at many hotels--this was one of the cleanest!),it was located on the 14th floor, so I was able to enjoy the view. Their complimentary breakfast was okay--could improve a little. The location is fairly good---it's good for business travelers who have meetings/interviews/whatever in downtown.

I was happy to see that our room was newly renovated. The furniture was newer and the bathroom clean w/updated ammenities. We were lucky in that our room was facing west towards the water and towards the top floor - Great view! I also liked that the patio door opened for fresh air and you had the option to walk out on a small balcony. Location was excellent - within walking distance to the shore, Little Italy and the Gaslamp district. (Bring your walking shoes) It's a nice place to stay if you are there to visit San Diego. I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking to stay in a place to take advantage of their ammenities.

The bed was the most wonderful bed I have ever slept on. It was the first hotel bed to not hurt my back. The walls were paper thin and the neighbors were noisy, the restaruant closes at 10pm so I had to order in for dinner. The desk clerks gave me very bad directions to a local restaraunt- they sent me walking through a homeless camp- and I never found the place to eat. The morning free breakfast was ok, however the dining area was very dirty- the chairs looked like they had never been cleaned.

I thought that Best Western Bayside was a wonderful place to stay while visiting San Diego until the last night. I had fallen asleep while watching TV. I woke up because I heard doors slamming down the hall. Then I smelled smoke! The hallway was filled with smoke. I never heard a smoke alarm until I opened my door. Fortunately it was only a fire in the dumpster outside the motel and the motel wasn't on fire. I wish the alarm would have gone off in my room! The whole motel had been evacuated by the time I realised there was a fire. I'll never stay there again. Safety first!!!!
